Currently competing at world level while offering complete guides to amateurs is unique. Easy to understand video breakdowns. Understanding the time and effort to produce, appreciated. Class act.
Me and my mixed partner will definitely be watching this together. The mixed discipline is the most fun and tactical to play. Looking forward to the rest of the series 🏸🏸
Hey guys ! Thanks a lot for sharing a lot of insights. Always admired the way content is focused and to the point, no nonsense. Been following the tips and techniques for a while. I would love to see you share how to develop line judgement skills. Thank you !
Holy Molly !! What an awesome video ! And it's only part 1 ! The amount of time and knowledge put in this unique video is incredible ! Hats off to both of you ! I lack of words to express all of my gratitude. I just love you guys
Thank you Jenny and Greg! I’ve watched this very helpful video probably 10+ times now to refresh my memory. Appreciate all that you do to support and grow the badminton community! ❤️ from Thailand 🙂
I started playing badminton just 2 months ago. Learned a lot from your videos. I've improved so much in this short time that some of the best players at my university invite me to play mixed doubles with them. Great videos. Thanks a lot👍🏻. Gratitude from 🇵🇰
This will help me so much on Saturday. I’ll watch it again and definitely consider the patreon. My game awareness increases every time I watch your videos
All of your videos are great but this video is hall of fame worthy! Truly outstanding details for improving our game AND having more fun, because winning is always fun! Well done, Greg & Jenny!!
🏸🏸 Thanks for posting! And good pacing and breakdown of each phase, including who serves first. Sorry Greg had to take one for the team as part of the five hour recording session.😅
Thank you for the great advice. Like playing singles and doubles wasn't enough, my badminton crazy middle child wanted to play even more games at tournaments and started playing mixed. He was finding mixed to be very strange, but these videos have helped him out. Thanks for your hard work.
🏸🏸 Love the straightforward way you explain. Now the tough part, practice, practice and practice. Just got a new partner in Murcia, Spain so will be going through this together. Keep up the excellent work.
Really good video, well done!! Clear, concise, and logical. Especially like that you emphasise the need to adapt to your opponent and according to your own ability.
🏸🏸🏸 Coaching spot on as usual and the effort and time you've spent on production shines through. Looking forward to "MDT Part II - The Rotation Matrix "!!! 👌
Thanks Jan - glad you're enjoying them! We are entered but unfortunately we are on the reserve list due to not having enough tournaments on our ranking!
Thank you for sharing your insights. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making this video. I'm going to show this to the players in my club. You guys have done it soooo much better than any other video I've watched. Hats off to you both. 😃 Love from Melbourne, Australia.
🏸🏸 can't wait for next week's vid! One more question though, at club level, we would usually play XD vs MDs as we don't have many female players, how do we alter our strategies for XD vs MDs or even WDs? TIA!
Common misconception is that the woman has to smash as hard as the men's, this is not true and usually a disadvantage. For the XD pair they would focus on placement and tactics, you'll find cross court shots more effective as it works the MD/WD to rotate/move more. Assuming all are fairly equal, the XD man will need to work much harder on footwork if you go at speed, or if MD/WD decides to lift everything... Its best for XD to play as much attacking placement shots as possible, minimise on high "reset" lifts, more counter lift/drives... Finally, the XD lady has to be active/aggressive at the net, this is the vital thing in XD, you cant win rallies at the back with XD vs MD (unless your XD man has killer smashes).
Its still geat to learn from you. After some month of training I come back to compare my improvements by watching your videos again 🏸🏸. Thanks for your work ♥ maybe I should join you on patreon soon 🤔
🏸🏸 i'll definitely come back to this video, i'll send the link to my double partner too! :p Love the insight and the video exemples. Kuddos to the pair that played with you for this video!
🏸🏸Wow! great vid Greg and Jenny, Thanks! HOWEVER..... I think I would still prefer my personal favorite tactic of disguising George as Georgia when playing against mixed opponent, we tend to win a lot more often that way.
Believe it or not your videos on tactics & doubles formation have settled discussions amongst friends. In my group's private chat room, I've been asked to share videos to settle disputes. It works because I state I am sharing this video as a weekly refresher course or a FAQ. (FAQ: Whose shot is it to return when it is a smash down the middle.)
🏸 I'll have to show this video to my partner and hope she gets it. Might take a while to get the "flick serve position switch" to sink it. Great video. Looking forward to part 2.
Very insightful, thank you for all the efforts and time you invest in doing these videos, your sincerity is evident in the quality of content you produce. Thanks a lot, much appreciate it !!
🏸🏸 great video, lots of insight, thank you so much. Me and my partner used to play mixed on an amateurs level years ago and took a longer break. We are struggling a lot with the basic tactics that you shared and explained here, we're both watching this a few times.
🏸🏸 Great video! I noticed you flipped the videos so that some parts of the explanation is showing you as "right handed". The point about the adjustments dependent on the situation and your opponents' habits is very insightful.
How to change to head heavy racket for power smash from balanced racket ? Thanks. What training should be done and how ? I play with carbonex 21 special. Prefer to play single and doubles both.
Hi! Badminton Insight loves your videos. just wanted to ask what rackets you guys use. Me and my team have a big competition next week and were hoping to get a better racket. right now i am using the Forza Pure Light 9. and it just isn't the match for me. Thanks for the help!
🏸🏸 great work as always! One question: As a male, returning on the odd side, a typical return in MD is the forehand brush/push down the left side (receiver’s POV). However, this can easily expose my female partner to a deep backhand if the opponent’s shot goes over my head (which is the common shot). Should I always just look to move back as quick as possible, or is this just considered a bad/rare return in XD? Thanks so much!
Thanks guys. Good video! My woman likes to tell me she wants to learn to be stronger at the back, and therefore wants me to stand in front of her when I’m serving. But er... she hasn’t gotten better (😂) even after years of playing together. Thank God when we play in competitions she’d revert back to standing in front. Another thing is, how do we overcome the fear of the flick? Many amateur players stand too far back in court when receiving, resulting in them having to lift when playing the return of serve.
Thanks Greg and Jenny for producing amazing guides especially for doubles. Can you do videos on footwork for doubles (when side by side and front and back formation). Also on backhand drive (like Hendra Setiawan). Thank you very much 🙏
Watched your 2017 Austrian Semi-Final after watching this one! There seemed to be a lot of fault serves during flick serves. But didn’t look like the racket was too high.. any tips?
Oh no that's not the best match to watch! First tip is to not get an incompetent service judge (not saying they were) and second tip is to just try and lower it! Guessing we were still playing with the old rules there which were a lot more subjective! Have you seen our video on the service rules?
Are the live streams recorded? I would like to join your patreon to watch the live streams on demand at a later time 😊 Of course i watch the full video 😁🏸 Also I wanted to mention, I really appreciate the editing quality and information abundance, these kind of high-quality videos are meant to be watched multiple times!
