You'd need nine more of the 64 gun setup to start getting near an acceptable about of dakka, but even if you multiplied that number of guns by a thousand or more it would still not be enough dakka for there is NEVER enough dakka.

The problem is, it's got no armor, in favor of being able to actually move. If it were any slower, it'd never be able to hit anything.
I feel like your building the A-10 warthog of space, just take those guns and strap on a engine and a chair and wrap it in some nice thick armor then just obliterate enemies from a distance

Thanks! But not really. I'm using a script to fire the right gun, given the rotation. It's like splitting a circle into, for example, 8 segments. Every time the script runs, it just takes the angle from the rotor, and maths divides it by 45° (360°/8), and fires that numbered gun.
i could imagine using something like this to use a near light speed drive just keep firing have something like a magnetic ramjet that just picks up ambient hydrogen and stores it to make metallic hydrogen slugs to fire. idk... railgun propulsion

I have.. and it's *useless*. Basically, the thing's way too big to make good use of the weapon. And, if I want to be able to aim it at all, it can't have that much armor on it. Plus, if the weapon looses as much as a single block, the whole ship's disabled or destroyed. That's the 64x version. The 8x one is great in a ship.

Hmm I wonder if there's away to make something like the last one be like the first one in size but still fire very fast cause just imagine having a base with turrets like the last one as something like a ciws but man the timing on the shots is just amazing just the first one fires like the first ever mg the second probably like a ww1 mg then the last one a bar from ww2 also its really satisfying to hear the last one fire just one shot after another
Do you have to turn the ship to aim? The only way to bring this into open combat is if the individual guns can swivel. It doesnt need to be dramatic, but if all the rounds are going the same place you need more independent arms for defense

Given the next update is giving us a static railgun, this might be possible in vanilla soon. Depending on the RoF and power usage.
My guess is it'll be like a jump drive with a lower power shot recharging faster and a hecking big blast taking a few minutes to charge
Someone is probably currently working on a vanilla version of this.
