  • Shipyard Large ship printer. It builds a ship, Assembles it, then stages it for launch. all the mods are optional. it has little details everywhere, crew quarters, and small welder drone printer, a cargo staging area. Just give it a shot on the workshop. I have around 150 hours in this build and it’s still not done. Going to work on it more, but wanted to release it now for feedback. Enjoy!

      Repair it and it prints out a fancy new destroyer for you to use, just like the Automated Shipyard event in Stellaris
      In fact, better idea; not even a mission. Just a random encounter you can stumble onto. Think about it, you’re flying around in your starter ship, looking for a good base location, when suddenly you see **Automated Shipyard** appear on your HUD. You go to investigate, and you find this monstrosity, damaged and chilling in space. You decide to use the structure as base, slowly repairing it back to its former glory. And when you’re done, the you get a message from the shipyard, thanking you for repairing it. The construct then shudders into life, and you watch in awe as it prints out a destroyer for you...
      And then its claimed by Clang and is obliterated.

      I too was thinking about how it’s only designed for one ship and functions less as a whole fleet builder, yet it is so good at being a manufacturing line that can just pump out tons of the same product, it’d still be a huge faction asset. Also building these in different parts of space for the specific blueprints of the fleet means that if one gets hit, you’re whole fleet production is not halted.

    • @andrewkelly2028
      @andrewkelly2028 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@ApologiesSE Well no, not any specific scripts, but I figured you could script all the actions the timers are doing. Maybe it's easier to manage and visualize with the timers though. You'd also have to be willing to learn how to make scripts. What I meant was not using a script already made but consolidate the timers into a programmable block script that you make. I might try my hand at something like that.

    Damn, this puts the simple shipyard I'm working on right now to shame 😕. It's designed to refine materials and manufacture components, but relies on hand building and small welder craft to actually build or repair ships. However, being 500m long and over 200m wide, it does have the advantage of being able to accommodate a wide range of ships. Amazing work, man, I don't think I could put together machines that are this complex.

    I love the modularity of things being put together. It’s and idea I’ve wanted to tinker with (a ship having sections that can be replaced/swapped out as needed) but haven’t had the time or technical aptitude to pull off (still developing my ship design skills).
    Now I want to see a station that can take a ship apart in sections and specifically rebuild the sections and slap them on. Fleet yards filled with spare ship sections.
    This also gives me an idea for a combat scenario. Raiders are attacking a shipyard constructing a new destroyer. Defense fighters need to defend the shipyard and the constructing ship. Once completed, it can be used to defend against the raiders “capital ship”. However, if the raiders capture the ship, then they will be able to wipe out the remaining defense forces and begin constructing another one unless stopped.
