20 Minute Dumbbell Upper Body Circuit Workout | Caroline Girvan

  • Just over 20 minutes. Back. Shoulders. Chest. Arms… all worked but in a very slow and controlled format.
    This is a PERFECT upper body session to save for those days when you just want to work hard for that shorter duration!
    All you will need for this upper body workout is some dumbbells and your mat!
    The dumbbells I am using for your reference are 15kg! However I reduce to 9kg each for the SHOULDER PRESS & ARNOLD PRESS!
    The timer will be on for 40 seconds of work, 20 seconds rest for most of the exercises within the circuit, however the PULLOVER will be performed for 1 minute duration and 10 seconds rest before the next exercise, being the SHOULDER PRESS!
    We perform this circuit 3 times then we have the finisher!
    BENT OVER ROW
    CHEST PRESS
    PULLOVER *1 MINUTE
    SHOULDER PRESS
    PUSH UPS
    ARNOLD PRESS
    FINISHER!
    40/20/40
    DEADSTOP PUSH UPS!
    DIAGONAL DIAMOND PRESS
    DEADSTOP PUSH UPS!

    You will notice there are no arm specific exercises however these are compound movements so the biceps and triceps are involved during the back, shoulder and chest exercises.
    If you have been training with me for awhile, you will have noticed I don’t train arms that often as you may think. Infact I have gained strength and muscle in triceps and biceps mostly from rows, presses and push up variations!

    Happy Tuesday everyone !! These small workouts have been so nice and convenient. My college is giving me so much work these days and I've kind of been very busy..       Did you see results if so how long did it take I'm just trying to get an idea if I should switch up from doing short workouts to do long workouts

      But don't go after just the results... You'll get stronger and you'll enjoy working out with her. You should definitely go for longer workouts 💪🏻

      Agreed! I like the longer one's however, life just gets in the way sometimes (like today) I like having a variety of lengths to choose from based on how much time I have.

    I'm loving the short workouts too...although it does feel like I'm doing a 45 minute workout with the amount and intensity of the exercises. Loving it and also Loving when Caroline does the preview of the workouts the night before. Allows me to organise myself which in turn saves me more time .     Yes!! Circuits🙌🏻!! I've been hoping for some more circuit workouts. They are just amazing and soo tiring..I love them! And I loved today's! It was so hard to do those pushups and Arnold presses by the time we got to them🥵! The finisher was amazing😛. Deadstop pushups are my favorite type of pushups. I really had to dig deep...Killer!! Oh it burned! 🔥🔥🔥 This format pushed my HR into aerobic levels several times...that almost never happens with upper body workouts. Circuits are amazing!😁 The time flew by and I enjoyed every burning minute😆! Did the isometric & dynamic upper body workout for my add-on today!🔥 Yet another great training day..thanks Caroline!

    Another brilliantly designed workout….my shoulders and back are feeling it 🥵 I can’t believe how doing workouts everyday without rest days is demanding in spite of the shorter length! You’re kicking my butt CG! Yesterday I had to substitute the lunge workout for one of your calf workout…too much legs and skiing ⛷ didn’t agree 😂 And YES !! So glad we’re adding shorter time workouts to our library. ❣️

    Great weighted workout! This is the best training, especially for my age! It's so much easier LOOKING FIT in your early years, than over 50! Everything shifts! Your workouts increase my body strength and make me feel better. Likely no one will see me rocking a midriff but my core is strong, and my knees and back are feeling great!

    Absolutely loving these short workouts!!! So easy to fit in daily so there is no excuse and very easy to add on another workouts that compliment for a longer workout or I’ve added some cardio as well on days I have time. Sure helps so I have no excuse after working 12 hour shift work too. Hope to see more short programs in the future. As we can see Caroline’s shorter workouts are no joke. Especially yesterdays lunge one. 🙂🙂

    Phew! short and seriously intense. I used a 2x15kg, a 12.5 kg dumbbell for the 1 Minute of pullovers and 2x9kg for the shoulder and Arnold presses. 💪💥

    It's circuit training one of the most amazing and challenging one as whole focus is on the proper form and grip on dumbbells....yesterday's leg workout I'm still feeling and now this upper body is no different Really really enjoying these incredible short workouts..I hope everyone enjoy today's session as much as I did....

    Wasn't this just the best Christmas gift 🎁 today 👍😁👊✅. Loved the circuit format. Meant you could increase the weights if you wanted to for each round 😁👍✅.     2/24' For my reference, I used 25s (row), 30s (chest), 15s (shoulder press and arnolds) and burned 80 calories. Good arm workout.

    Hey everyone!!! I hope everyone smashed this workout!!! Just finished and the pump I feel is epic!!! I did both the workout and the add-on with 10 kg dumbells as these are the heaviest I have hereat my home. And I have to admit that it was a CHALLENGE!!! Excellent as always Caroline💪💪💪

    I watch your videos regularly Caroline in Australia sometimes 1 day or 2 days later but I do feel better after doing them. At times they are challenging but your calm composure really motivates me to keep going. I wish you a Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄

    This worked my upper body so much. Added Sundays work out on to this 🥵. Doing my own job (which includes working saturdays) then the doors at weekends (nights) is tiring but worth it. And these work outs keep me sane lol xx

    This morning I decided to go back to this workout. I had almost forgotten how quick and effective this Advent calendar was. 🔥💪I guess I'm gonna do these workouts all over again. Advent came earlier for me this year! 😁

      Elevate your body on a chair/desk/bed to make them easier :)

      You’ll get to it eventually you just have trian your upper body first . 2 times a week . Try not to go all the way down and you can modify it by starting on your knees first!
