The Wheel of Time is a 14 series book plus a prequel so 15 in total. But don’t let that scare you off! It’s one of my favorites, and I’m excited to see your journey! ❤️ Love your videos so much!
You are the only one who has described The City We Became this way, and it makes me so interested in it now. I never understood what it was about but your description had me rushing to add it to my TBR
Thank you so much for linking petitions in your description box! I just clicked through while listening to your video. The video you linked to however has been taken down.
Yay! I am so excited that you are starting Wheel of Time. I started reading it too. Only read the first one, but excited to hear what you think about it because we seem to have similar tastes in books! Please post up reviews!
Also, I love hearing about other people’s fictional crush. Especially booktubers who read a lot of fantasy ☺️ it’s always so interesting. Being that I love romance I have a few fictional crushes lol, but I can totally see how you’d be more into the relationship than a specific character.
I love this tag!! I need to read sooo many of the books you mentioned. I also am highly anticipating Embers book 4 and I’m terrified but so excited. My favorite books this year have been All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, and The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. I love your look in this video!❤️
I feel you with the starless sea I reread it this year and I think I started crying on page 12 because the way Morgenstern was talking about books was just too beautiful 😂😭
Hi from Brazil!!! My favorites this year were Anna Kariênina, Les Miserebles, Strange the Dreamer and Dune!! I’ve been trying to read more classics this year and I’m super happy! Love your channel :)
That's how I feel about The Eye of the World. Everyone kept telling me I'll love it, it ranks up there with my favorites of all time. Kept thinking it was daunting due to the length of the series. I finally bought it and will be starting it after the chunker I am currently reading lol
I tried reading wheel of Time years back and gave up and I actually decided to pick it up again. Read the first book and actually liked it! Been meaning to get to the second one so I'm super happy to hear that you're gonna start it soon because then it won't feel as daunting knowing that I'm not alone in this HUGE series!🙈
I have loved watching the mid year book tags! I've loved seeing other people's thoughts on all sorts of different books they've read this year. It was so much fun for me to film mine, too!
I always love all of your recommendations! Would love if you did a video about urban fantasy novels/series! I'm trying to ween my way into reading high fantasy, but there's just something about those "magic in the real world" books that I love so much. :)
I'm trying to read more diversly and there were so many great recs in this video! I wasn't interested in the City we become, because I don't read urban fantasy, but after this (and your vlog) I NEED it Edit I just started Wheel of Time and I'm really enjoying it so far, looking forward to see it featured in your vlogs :)
I am so excited for the fourth book in the Girl Meets Duke series, and the sequel to Bringing down the Duke!! They both come out in a couple months and I can't wait!!!
I'm currently on book 4 of The Wheel of Time series. I would honestly suggest that you read the prequel - A New Spring - BEFORE starting book 1. I personally felt like it helped to set the scene for the entire series and another reason is that you absolutely can't just leave it out. Last reason is because I didn't want to stop in the middle of the series to catch up on something that happened in the past. It's a flippen cool series and I'm looking forward to watching your reviews on the books :)
Oh my gosh Regan Hi! Lol, I literally did not even realize that you tagged me in your video. Your compliment was super sweet, thank you so much ☺️❤️ I was just casually about to watch your video and then I realized you were talking about Jocelyn and I, I looked up and was taken by surprise 💘 I loved this video of course. Thank you again for your kind words, they were so appreciated ❤️
in the middle of the video: **add starts playing** the add: "polkadots are out... its polka-squares now" me realizing that Regan is wearing a polkadot shirt and laughing so hard cus of what the add right before said 😂😂

Ooooh The Wheel Of Time!! I've been wanting to read that book for what feels like eons now. I would love to see what you think of it, or maybe a reading vlog. This is such a coincidence, I just bought the book. I'll definitely be reading it this year as well! (Hopefully!!)
I recently started reading historical romance too and Laura Wood is so so good. Especially her book Under a Dancing Star. The relationship is just 👌🏻😍♥️
Recently I have picked up some fantasy reads and today I finally got The Way of Kings (because you listed it as one of your favourites) from the library after months of waiting. Tbh I don't know if I'm ready for it but I'm so hyped and hopefully it's something for me!
AHHHH! I can't wait for Empire of Gold! That trilogy is probably my favorite fantasy trilogy at the moment. So well done. I loooooove the politics and the grayness of the characters. And a Song of Wraiths and Ruins?!?! So ready to read that.
Aw, this time of the year! I've read 14 books (the most I've read in YEARS!) So I'm quite proud. June is slow af because of work... But I just finished The Missing of Clairedelune and I absolutely cannot wait for the next one! Also waiting for the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue 🤩
I've been stuck in a re-read cycle throughout the past few months but you mentioned so many books I'd never heard of, so I'm really excited to pick them up! Thank you! - C
My favorites so far! The Unhoneymooners The Hand on the Wall Scythe The Wicked King A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and Good Girl, Bad Blood Clap When You Land I was catching up on a lot of books that have been out for a little while!!
For historical romance, you really need to check out Courtney Milan. Alyssa Cole also has an amazing series, The Loyal League, which is set during the Civil War and told from the POV of Black characters.
If you haven’t already, you have to read The Bronze Horseman!! Historical Romance in Soviet Russia, its seriously like Outlander set in Russia except substitute 2 cups of canoodling for 1 cup of food rations diced with train and park dates 😊
Good luck with The Wheel of Time. I feel like it's a series where being well-read in the fantasy genre hurts rather than helps the reading experience. Considering that the first book of the series was published 30 years ago, I found that the series hasn't aged well, and I had a really hard time getting through it - even the last few Sanderson books. While the over-arching plot is marginally interesting, I found many of the subplots in each book so cringe-worthy that some of the books (especially in the middle) were almost unreadable. Also, although there are over 100 POVs in the series, I more often than not found myself annoyed with the characters and was unable to grow attached to any of them. Usually I'm one of those people who covets long series for the amount of time they allow for me to spend with beloved characters, but by the I was halfway through the series, I began to wish that Jordan had more of GRRM's readiness to kill off characters. That said, I appreciate Jordan's ambition. And because of its place in fantasy canon, I doggedly pushed through to the end. I'm interested to see what you think of it.
I can't wait to read the city we became! Even though I am not a fantasy reader myself, you have recommended me so many amazing books, to this day, the scythe trilogy is my favourite series ever thanks to you!
I absolutely loved Upon a Burning Throne (both1 n 2). It is rather based on ONE of the TWO MAIN EPICS of India - the Mahabharata! I am going to reread this series soon!
regan is probably one of the few booktubers i trust when it comes to fantasy (because so far our taste are similar!), and she's recommending so many good books that i'm not sure my bank account will survive..
I recently picked up The City We Became so I need to get to that soon because it sounds so interesting and I really want to try something by N.K. Jemisen. I’m currently reading Flowers for Algernon and I have a feeling I might need something a bit fun and romantic before I delve back into fantasy. I read the sample of Bringing Down the Duke and that might fit the bill.
Welcome to Romancelandia! If you want recs, I recommend going to the website Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. They're a romance centered website that's been around for over 15 years. They are an amazing resource for romance novels and will most likely have something you'll want to read :) They do reviews, deals round-ups, a podcast, cover snark, etc. I love them so much and have found SO many good books from them!!
Top books for me this year are the goldfinch, where the crawdads sing, the night circus, little fires everywhere, good omens, house of earth and blood, bringing down the duke, and chains of gold.
Hey girl! You rock! 💜❤ Oh, and please read The Night Circus! Because, well, while the Starless sea is great, it is the wide consensus that Night Circus is superior.
Have you read Crescent City yet? I just finished it and it was amazing! Best book I’ve read this year and I think it even surpasses my fave from last year Priory of the Orange Tree. And I loved that book.
I have also been feeling that Robert Jordan pull. I feel like I *have* to read his books at some point though because he was from South Carolina. I'm also from South Carolina. He's already required reading for fantasy lovers, but he's extra required reading for SC fantasy fans.
[Ive read 46 books this year | 40 not including audiobooks] My favorite books that I've read for the first time this year are The Young Elites by Marie Lu, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo, Girl Mans Up by M-E Girard, Autoboyography by Christina Lauren & the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare.
A very long TBR is not a problem when you're young. If you can read 1 book a week you can read more than 250 books in the next five years. I had a book on my TBR shelf for more than 15 years before I read it. It wasn't good. But the point is I got to it eventually.
The Bride by. Julie Garwood was the first historical romance I read and I finished it in 3 hours I couldn’t put it down ! Highly recommend her books they are my guilty pleasure I find myself going back to re read over and over.
My favourite book of the year so far is Where The Crawdads Sing. Just...💗😌. I’ve also LOVED branching out into fantasy. So far read Foundryside (amazing. Can’t wait to read sequel) and am SO excited to read Name Of The Wind and The Fifth Season (both purchased yesterday and sitting in my bookshelf in anticipation 😁) 📚
This is random, but have you read any of Jane Austen books? I know they’re classics, but they’re also historical now and romance in ways and I’ve never read a historical romance but I love Jane Austen so I was wondering if I might like historical romance as well?
I love mid-year booktube videos! This is exciting. Also, "it's essentially an evil Karen" is a great quote.
Girl...historical romance, dense character and political development. OUTLANDER.
Hahaha I KNOW I promise I will eventually read it
THIS^^
I would definitely be interested in a wheel of time readalong
