    I want to thank everyone for their heartfelt compliments about this video, and for sharing their own experiences with Chris. It's been overwhelming really. Although I knew Chris for a short amount of time, I can truly say he made a lasting impact on me. I will tell my newborn daughter about this inspiring man one day and show her everything is possible in life, as long as she can dream it.
    I have more footage of Chris, more behind-the-scenes stuff, and more jumps. But putting this together was pretty emotional, and I want to ensure I keep some footage for the future, to ensure a new video gets us all back together to remember what a truly amazing guy Chris was.
    It feels weird to actually be emotional over a man I have lived with for essentially 2,5 weeks in total over these two years. But we always kept in touch and sought ways together for him to break records, and for me and my team to document it. Chris was one of the most special, open, caring human beings I had the honor to meet and work with, and I'll make sure that in some time I will release more unseen footage of this green flying dude to come together again and remember Chris Byrnes.
    Chris did what he absolutely loved most; push the boundaries of true human flight. Sadly he met his match that day, but I am sure he smiled all the way through, and is using his range finder up there to open new lines for his old buddies that were waiting for him.
    Once again; thank you all. I want to wish the family and anyone who has been touched by Chris all the love and support they need in these sad times.
    - Leroy ter Braak

    I miss Chris so much... I think about him every single day. The truth is, some days I'm still in denial and it feels like he's going to come back any second... I try to bargain with some higher power and ask for some way to travel back in time to undo this tragedy. And then other times, I seem to come to more of an acceptance that he's flying in the higher dimension now, with all his other buddies that crossed that bridge before him. I hope he's at peace and flying endless lines now. I'm so proud of everything you accomplished in your life, Chris, and how you lived ten thousand lifetimes in one. You are the most special light. I love you to the moon and back. ❤️💚 I come back to this video most days to hear Chris's voice and see his beautiful smile and pretend I'm still on his journey with him.
    Thank you again for putting together this beautiful tribute video, and I am really looking forward to seeing the other footage you have of Chris.

      I agree.
      When I saw that line a month ago when he flew under a tree branch, I gave that dude a year to live. Looks like I was too generous.
      I know its fresh but if you won't take margin for error, you will die.
      Its really that simple. You killing yourself for a stupid YT video/bigger adrenaline rush isn't anything to cheer about.
      I hope his death at least gave the other WS flyers a lesson but I doubt it.

    • @XziXzi
      @XziXzi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      While you might be right, I think the point here is not if it was bound to happen or not. Chris single-handedly brought proximity flying to a new level. He was a multiple world record holder, and pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in a wingsuit. He will truly be a legend for the sport for years to come, and we should celebrate the fact that that is true. Yes, Chris met his match that day sadly, but he was literally frothin to the coffin. He did wat he was meant to do in this world, so let’s celebrate his achievements in the world of wingsuit flying and remember him for what he was: a legend and true friend.

    There will always be old pilots and bold pilots. But you won’t find an old bold pilot. Such a waste of life pushing the limits too hard for anyone to sustain. If you’re a beginner jumper please don’t think what Chris did was by any means ‘cool’. Being dead is very uncool. Especially to everyone who has to bury their loved ones. He didn’t choose life at all. He chose death. A very early one at that. I’ve lost count of my dead friends I almost feel nothing any more. Especially when they were totally ignoring everyone’s advice to pull up. You’ve gotta be a bit ‘not right’ to brag about hitting over 40 trees in his short career. That’s not something you brag about, you pull your bloody head in. Anyway I feel sorry for his massive family and many friends. BSBD

    Seems like an addiction. Not content with flying, but have to fly dangerously close to objects for increased enjoyment and feeling of “living free” - well, when it’s all about you and the need to feel like you’re living, you become addicted to the rush…and nothing else satisfies except the rush. Eventually, you hit the wall because the need for the rush exceeds common sense. We don’t allow passenger jets to fly at tree line because that would be insane - but individuals “chasing freedom” sure, just clean up the mess when its done.

    He seemed like a good, genuine, and humble dude. I’m not judging the sport-it’s their choice-but it seems many of the people who fly wingsuits end up seriously injured or killed at the prime of their life. Respect to him for following his passion, but it still seems sad for the life, friends and family left behind by these accidents. ✌️🕊 Edit: I just saw he was your friend and I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t mean any disrespect… I just feel sad for what these larger than life folks often leave behind.

      @XziXzi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For people like Chris it’s not about the amount of years, but the amount of life in those years. Chris pushed the limits of human flight like no one did before. He paid the ultimate price for that, but it was a price he was willing to pay. We can only admire people who find their passion and are willing to live out that passion to its extremes. I wish that for everyone, until a 100 years old at least. Thanks for the kind words.
