Wow. Amazing how a $5 quart of oil could have kept a $900 engine from turning into that mess of metal. I was tickled to see you try out that 5-in-1 tool suggestion. I found putting the width of blade against a large length of the gasket seam spreads the force over a larger area. Kinda like a mason using kneeling boards/floats when troweling a concrete floor, or a hiker in Canada using snowshoes in the winter. Keeps you from sinking into the snow/concrete/aluminum. Happy Holidays to you Mr and Mrs T-Bone.
So, thank you for the video. Friends mower ran out of oil but the cams are still moving but pistons are not…haven’t removed it from the mower yet but likely a crank shaft or connecting rod I’m guessing. You did a great job showing yet another DIY guy at home how to diagnose. Thank you. Turns out the mower shop he took it to for a “tune up” didn’t put oil back in it. Broken connecting rods and parts laying in the oil pan. Your video was very informative and helpful.
I am putting a 24 hp Briggs twin back together .I fixed the bent push rods and welded valve guide so it doesn't creep our again on number one cyl exhaust valve . I adjusted valves ,everything seems good . Turning motor over slowly by hand with a ratchet trying to get compression test on gauge .Nothing showing on guage but if you put your hand over exhaust manifold it will push your hand off with pressure ? Nothing looked damaged in bottom end at all .Cylinders seemed clean, pistons traveling good ,cam good .New push rods ,seals ,etc . I am going to remount it and try to start .Just thought I would check compression out. I had similar happen with my Harley once .No compression on gauge turning engine by hand ,but fired up ran good .
Now that was chewed up T- Bone, sure pleased you shared this with us I've never seen a small engine as bad as that 👌👍, Merry Christmas to you and Mrs T-bone
Thank you. I just came across another engine, hopefully it will work for the John Deere , if it's now ruined like the other 3 engines. Thank you for watching, subscribing and commenting my friend.
Ouch! Now we know. 3 engine carnage piles. That mower is jinxed! It does not want to get repaired. Out with the junk to the scrap trailer. Done! Paul from S. Central Tx.
Yep, that one was messed up. I'm not giving up on the John Deere Zero Turn yet. Found another engine. Video coming soon. Will it work? I don't know yet.
It sure did a number on it, at least you have some parts now to help someone out with. From John and Lisa to you and Mrs T-Bone, have a Blessed and Merry Christmas. Ken's Small Engine Repair is having as Christmas Live Stream tomorrow at noon EST, come join us brother.
Yes, the bright side is some good parts. Thank you, Merry Christmas to you and your family. Sure wish I could join in but we have plans tomorrow. Please tell everyone we said hello and Merry Christmas.
Get a real kick out of the included animal clips. My Intek 13hp died and I just checked...no compression. Guess I'll break it down and see what may have happened. Do you have a favorite engine about this size?
Did it turn Over when installed before removed just curious , I have 24hp vtwin briggs that cranks over great and if I spray carb cleaner thru breather it will attempt and then stop cranking unless I release key and try again etc... just curious fuel is getting to carb, have spark etc...
I was hoping this engine would work. Not sure if a Courage would work. I was gifted another twin cylinder Briggs we are gonna try in the next video. Merry Christmas
You fix it!! 😆 I've been meaning to do a video on that very issue. Use a volt meter to test for 12 volts on the B terminal on the regulator with key on. If 12 volt good start engine and test for AC voltage coming from the 2 terminals from the alternator. I forget the exact voltage, it will be noticeable. If you have AC voltage, bad regulator. If no AC voltage bad alternator or magnets came loose from flywheel. Hope this helps you out my friend.
No compression on an intek, without watching I’m guessing either valve issues or a bad cam. Ok after watching, it was a cam issue from a grenaded rod. I have seen so many of these grenaded inteks - mostly single cylinder, they seem to be worse. As bad as they are, they are still better than a kohler courage, the infamous “bucket” engine.
Happy Holidays folks. Thanks for the education and entertainment in 2023.
Thanks for your support my friend.
Happy Holidays!
@@Mrs.T-bone Thank you. I really enjoy the content on both of your channels. Keep up the good work and try to keep your husband under control.

Merry Christmas to you and your family my friend.
I cut a hole in my engine bench for the haft on the vertical engine to go through. It makes it nice I believe, I can even start it on my bench.
Awesome. Thanks for watching and commenting. Great idea

Thanks brother, we have more options on the way.
It's so easy to check the oil and they never do 😮
Got that right. They see a leak and ignore it. I don't understand why. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
yes I belive it was junk.
