Taryl Fixes All i neeeed some help I have the same engine but I took the heads off because it bend a rod for some reason so I thought maybe something sirve the valves but now that I seen your video and it was having the same symptoms so not I know it’s the camshaft but I need help with where to find the part for model- 406777 and type 0128-E1

    Another great video by Taryl!
I like the videos of replacing internal parts and how to line things up and settings etc. It makes for a proud moment when it starts and runs like it's supposed to.
I'm gonna look through more of your videos and see if you have anything about the older opposed twin Briggs engines. I have a 2001 model (that I got used last year). It's a 17hp I/C engine that I put on the back of our Snapper RER. Plenty of power when it runs right but I think it stopped pumping fuel a few days ago. I checked the fuel tank and it's not clogged up. I'm going to go through everything real good and give it a good checkover. Gonna check the valve clearance for one, it was popping before it stopped on me too...

Like someone else mentioned, I'm glad I didn't write you guys off at the beginning. That was a very in-depth 33 minutes worth watching including some nuances not mentioned in some other videos I've seen. I learned these engines are prone pushing valve guides out, bending push rods and worse if gotten too hot. You may have mentioned that in a previous video, not sure. But when you pulled the rods and they were straight I can see why you immediately when to the cam issue and you were correct. Experience! Well done.

The Dactyl saves the day again. I got one doing the exact same thing on an 04 Simplicity. Thank you.

Thanks for the video, I’ve noticed this problem with a lot of the snowblowers I fix. Most of them have the OHV Powermore or LCT engines. I clean or replace the carburetors and always bore out the low speed jet to prevent surging, however some of the machines pop and backfire and it drives me crazy. Valve adjustments never seem to fix the problem either. I don’t like to sell them in that condition. I’ve scoured the internet for a solution and this video is the closest thing I can find. Might have to rip the engine off of the next one that does it and see if the lobes on the cam shaft are worn down.

I like your video that sandpaper you're referring to as what was left of the camshaft and the reason it didn't hurt the lifter is because the lifters Harden and the camshaft is not Harden properly I've done a few of them I'm enjoying your videos and the critic but when I mentioned it to Briggs & Stratton they told me that I was the only one having that problem got so bad I was popping the lobes off of one cam put them on another. they spline i could be pressed on and off great video great info lack of Maintenance maybe pour oil Maybe poor cam lobe likely keep up the great work what did you all ever do with that Fairbanks Magneto you was playing with I believe you called her an old Wisconsin module
