This is one of the hardest runs to follow along with that I've ever watched. The EG map shenanigans is wildly complex for my little brain. I loved every minute of it.
Me as a kid discovering the map screen glitch in Link's Awakening: "Man, this game is soooo much buggier and broken than Link to the Past!" Me as an adult watching Link to the Past speedruns: 😳
I bet this is the first time I've seen the game played that wasn't a randomizer. I'll finally learn where the moon pearl is. Lmao really though I know where it is but randomizers help you to forget things.
It will be in the first of three particular chests you open; either of those two or the one in the passage with your uncle. You need to have one to progress, so I guess they gave you lots of chances to pick one up.
The game devs *really* don't want you to miss it, so it can show up at Link's House, in the Secret Passage by the Uncle, or in Zelda's Cell, whichever you open first.
The 3 chests in Link's House, the Secret Passage, and Zelda's cell all have the same content, which is the Lamp, or 5 rupees if you already have the Lamp.
the Lantern can be in IIRC 3 different chests, whichever you open first - Link's house, Zelda's cell or in the passageway where your uncle is. The other two will have blue rupees.
Random question: for this run, and most retro game speed runs, is the game run on the actual original console or is an emulator used? I know it says SNES up top - but since it’s a Japanese game, and it’s being streamed so well - thought maybe it’s an emulator

Haha so true, what a wild run
One of the best video games ever made. And how the hell did someone find those glitches for the first time? Blows my mind!
People really love playing this game, and a child’s mind means they’ll try *everything* you could possibly imagine. And that child grew up
This is the first Zelda game that I beat. I love how intuitive the game is. Great GDQ run!!
This was funny, entertaining and definitely mindblowing! Thank you all!

i'm always fascinated by these glitched speedruns, but I'm always gonna like watching the NMG runs of any game way more.
This was so cool to watch. As one of my faves of all time, was amazing to see aLttP get broken down like that! Well done to all involved! 🙌🏻❤️👍🏻
I love that you spend this run in a glitched state more than in the normal state.
"We don't like going the normal way (23:55)" could be the subtitle for this run...
This run is absurdly good. Incredibly enjoyable watch, thank you!
glan is a gamer
I just had the oddest thought of out of bounds clipping, falling into deep water clouds, and doing a false flippers in deep cloud.
Just did it and can fly anywhere I want at anytime
This run operating on straight up dream logic
Excellent. First time I watched a run of this with major glitches. Jesus christ, what a ride.
Incredible Glan, awesome couch too
Haha check out the category name change at 1:12:40
17:30 "The RNG in this game is not manipulable" makes it even more genius!
This game's code is on life support
This is awesome
great run!
I recently learned that there is a link to the past randomizer league. It's the greatest thing I've found on TH-cam since marbula one league!!
this run has the world record for most donations read in a run.

that's so cool
I did this without dying/saving ,but took me WAY longer, congrats to the runner

Why was the lantern in the chest with Zelda and not in Links house?
It will be in the first of three particular chests you open; either of those two or the one in the passage with your uncle. You need to have one to progress, so I guess they gave you lots of chances to pick one up.
The lantern can be in 3 locations, depending which chest you open first: links house, near the uncle or in zeldas cell

Hey I've got that same poster on my wall.
I have no idea how people are able to discover all of this, and it's pretty incredible!
Glans run

Hotarubi is still routing? Sorry just a casual fan who knows that name well

Maybe I am mistaken...
But I am fairly certain Link can lift big grey square blocks even without a strength upgrade.
I think you're mistaken
I think the game is broken. Did you try to restart it ?
Seeing how broken this game is makes me sad.
oh thank fucking god, a A Link to the Past run without all the randomize bullshit
... Wat?
Why is this not live and still online?????
AGDQ 2023 was originally planned to be live, but something happened (I'm not privy to the details) and they had to change plans to an online format.
