    I must say I have been doing diamond art for almost a decade. I have seen since lock down how this has exploded. I am loving all the new items and videos I am finding. My first project was a 90x120 square full drill with only the standard tool kit. That was a looooong process. I hope everyone is enjoying this and finding as much joy as I have.

    ❤Hi!!! New Subscriber. How do you know if it is stolen artwork. I am new to this. I have a bit of OCD...and since I started a small project from Hobby Lobby, I find it very relaxing and satisfying. I would hate to accidentally buy one that was stolen.

    • @HouseOfMiscellania
      @HouseOfMiscellania  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Camille_Lee_Æon Anything you buy from a brick and mortar store should be fine! Also, the shops online will credit the artist on the painting itself and the listing. Staying away from shops like Temu, AliExpress, and Amazon (unless purchasing from Diamond Art Club) will be your best bet. That being said, if that's all you can afford, just do a Google image search on anything from those online retailers and if it finds a specific artist, it is STOLEN. You'll want to stay away from those.

    I do diamond art painting because it's relaxing. I do it because after I finish them, I'm proud of it. I do it to give them away, mainly small diamond art projects like coasters, bookmarks, keychains, etc. I even want to sell them at my aunt's antique store where I'm sitting at a table outside. That is my mom's idea which I'm willing to do, but I may have to get diamond art paintings geared towards boys and men than just the girly ones that way everyone doesn't feel left out.
    I will even do requests. If someone asks me to do a diamond art painting of Marvel that they want to have, I'll gladly do it.

      @@HouseOfMiscellania Yeah, and when you mentioned full diamond art paintings and partial diamond art paintings, my mom who doesn't do what I like to do, doesn't know the difference. She'll ask me if the diamond art painting is a full one or a partial. I'll always tell her that a partial diamond art painting has symbols on certain areas, but not the entire thing, whereas a full diamond art painting has all symbols where the whole thing is sticky. I remembered I did a round stained glass diamond art painting. It wasn't a canvas type of painting but it's a partial one I did that my grandmother wanted me to do for her. It only took one day to do it. When my mom saw it, she thought it wasn't done because she showed me the other side of it, and I said that not all non canvas diamond art paintings will let you do two sides, it depends on what it is. And my favorite diamond art paintings are the partial ones. My mom, her boyfriend, including my twin sister, have no patience for it.

    I agree with what you said about burnout completely. I burned out really bad about a year and a half ago. I’m trying to get back into it now but I’m still scared of not being over the burnout so I’m trying to start back with some small projects. It’s really hard for me to not just jump into joining events and stuff. Especially when I see TH-camrs getting really excited about their upcoming events. I have a pretty large stash though so I don’t want to stay burnout forever. I was so close to breaking out a DAC and joining Oz in Aug, but I managed to convince myself that I really just need to concentrate on the little 30x40 unicorn I’m working on now and I have to laugh at myself because I used to do a 30x40 in a couple of days and now it’s been a week and I’m not even half way done.

      @angelad7164 Hi Angela! Thanks for watching and I'll try to answer all your questions!
      1. The DMC Color Chart you purchased is used to make sure that the drills (diamonds) match the DMC Color Chart which is the color standard for most (but not all) kits. The letters and symbols will be exclusive to each kit you work so the book won't have those. You probably won't use the book much because the colors that come with each kit should match what you see on the drill field (like a color by number/symbol).
      2. Each person is different as to whether they like rounds or squares better but I usually recommend starting with round because they are more forgiving. If you buy less expensive kits, you are less likely to have issues with rounds also.
      3. Most every kit you buy will give you the basic tools you need to start out. After that, I recommend getting yourself a thicker pen; you can find cheap ones on Amazon and very expensive ones on Etsy (or I sell them too!) And get yourself a better tray. After that, you can play around with putty, glue dots, waxes etc. But to start, your kit will have all you need.
      4. You don't have to start with Diamond Art Club but you become an official "member" when you make your first purchase. If you want to start out with something less expensive, you can go to Michael's and try their Make Market brand, Temu/AliExpress/Amazon has very inexpensive options, or you can check out your local craft store for kits on sale! I have a video about How to Pick the Best Kit For You that you can check out for further info!

      You can usually do a reverse Google image search and see what comes up. Also, Chinese companies will sometimes leave the artist's watermark right on the picture and it will sort of show up in the render. You will know you're working with a licensed company because they list artist credit right there on the page showing the diamond painting. :)

    Also, do NOT just buy kits because they are limited addition or the site is like "Well if you dont get it now its never coming back" More then likely it might take you a LONG time to even get started on one of the kits and your going to have a bunch of kits just lying around. And also make sure that you KNOW you like the kit, dont just buy it because it is limited addition. MAKE SURE you 100% like the kit cause if you dont like it more then likely your never going to get around to doing it. And even if you like the kit more then likely its for sale on another website or it WILL come back, it might take a while but it is more than likely going to come back

      FOMO IS REAL. I'm just lucky that I tend to finish quickly so my stash gets depleted rather than sitting there until (like you say) I no longer have interest.

    Hey, question, the newer style multi placer you`re using, are they any better than the older style metal placers?

    • @HouseOfMiscellania
      @HouseOfMiscellania  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The one I'm using is the Diamond Art Club thin metal multiplacer and they are GAME CHANGING! I have a 6 and a 10 and I adore them!

    I’m interested to relax. I like cartoons and horror movie stuff. I want to do some Mickey Mouse stuff for grandson. I haven’t seen any men doing this. I think I’ll like it. I did cross stitch for a bit

      There aren't too many men, but they DO exist and a couple of them even have TH-cam channels! Single and Placing comes to mind as well as Diamond Painting Jim!

      I COMPLETELY understand that, all too well. This is why I like to shop at places where the art doesn't disappear after a few hours and you have to wait months for it to come back in stock...

    Yikes! You wanted to know ALL THIS b4 you started!!? Nice that you're sharing all this, but most of this is part of the discovery phase while enjoying a new hobby. One does not need to know why they want to DP before getting started - just start! Why waste time on all this over thought stuff before one even knows IF they will enjoy diamond painting!?
    The only thing most of us learn the hard way in the beginning is choosing a canvas size. Going too small can lead to disappointment and thereby someone possibly giving up on the craft.
    Perhaps the title does not fit this vid. It contains great info, but this crafter certainly doesn't need to research a craft this deeply before starting.
    Buy a cute kit and get started! A first kit can be pretty inexpensive! The craft is a tedious one, but try it! And community will come in time. Don't overthink this before getting started.
    Frankly I don't like this content. Warnings about how to behave in community, envy, jealousy, kindness, licensing issues, choosing an art type, knowing why you want to diamond paint!? I think the intention is good, but the content is over thought in so many ways.
    If you want to diamond paint...try diamond painting! If you enjoy the craft you MAY decide to learn more and enter communities later.
    Major overthinking and lots of opinion here. Have fun, then skills and knowledge will develop.

      @cookielupappas940 lol you just described me in a long response -- over think EVERYTHING. I think a lot of that is my own mental health stuff coupled with issues I had coming into the community.
      That said, the title is fitting because they are things I wish *I* knew before starting. But you're right; nothing wrong with just diving in and getting your feet wet!

      As someone who is just starting out with diamond painting I found this video really interesting. It's answered alot of the questions Ive been thinking about since doing my first kit/canvas.
      The explanation and the questions to ask myself have been enlightening.
      Thankyou so much for your opinions and explaining the lingo.
      I love watching videos that give tips and tricks.
      Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
