What really caught my attention with this device is the keyboard - such a smart addition that truly sets it apart from the competition. Your review was spot-on and highlighted some great points.
very sorry to hear about your mother, i hope you find peace and are able to move forward. just stumbled on your channel, and im glad i did, love your vids and keep up the great work!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the giveaway, as well as everyone that watched and engaged this video! More to come in the future! :) Edit: Adjusted the link to reflect better how to access the video.
I have a ROG ally that I absolutely love, but the Win 4 is so intriguing to me with the smaller form factor and keyboard. I'm so glad handheld pc's are finally a reality. Great video i, can't wait to see more :)
I don't think I have as strength a sentiment as @tabdar87 words seem to imply but that is essentially some of the compromises to make with the Win 4, however, how much of that would affect you, that's subjective. The screen, I'm personally ok with, the ergonomics are not the best indeed, as pointed out in the review. But what it lacks, it more than provides for in return with the keyboard, the nub, the ports. It's really a question of preference. Anywho, thank you for the kind words! I intend to review the RoG ALLY too in due time, the next MiniPC will be the OneXFly! :) Cheers!
I have a win3/4 and Onexfly. Fly is sooo much better. Smaller and more powerful that ROG Ally. Fall 2024 ROG Ally 2 coming 16CU/ 12coreCpu / N4P node very close to N3 and cheaper. 4.4 teraflop more and less. Is'so excinting. For comprare Rog Ally is at most 2.9 teraflop
Well handheld PCs have existed for quite a long time now but yes, great to see them become more relevant thanks to I guess the Steam Deck and ROG Ally.
The win 4 is my current go for new games, love the trackpad and keyboard. Although i pulled the trigger on limited edition EVA onex pro 2 so i definitely need to sell the win 4 once it arrived but win 4 is still great. Sorry for your loss bro
This video showed up in my suggested feed and I'm glad it did. Very thorough and well read review of the device. I've been mulling over something in the GDP line for awhile to compliment my Steam Deck on the windows side without having to dual boot for it. Thanks for the great info!
great review man! very thorough and enjoyable, Im happy to see you posting again. The win4 is an awesome machine, its crazy how much gpd was able to pack into such a small handheld.
It really is! That's why I had a few back and forth with this review. The famous quote: "Careful what you wish for" was resounding in my head. Somehow, I wish the "gaming" aspect could be improved like ergonomics and such but if it means losing what makes the Win 4 unique? I'm not sure I'd change anything. Anyway, thanks Aish, glad you liked it!
sorry for your loss...didn't realize you started posted again since your WM2 vids. You're the reason why I got the WM2 and all the great accessories to use with the device. Miss your posts on the GPD discord too
I'm pretty sure I recognize you, you asked the most questions about the WM2 and believe me when I say it made me happy to oblige everytime! Happy to know you are enjoying your WM2, it is still a device I am greatly fond of and looking forward to the day we have a 120hz equivalent, I'll jump on it immediately!
@@GameTechTalk yup, I held off on upgrading to the 7840U and am in the same boat in waiting for one with a better display (hopefully 120Hz and OLED). I think I missed your recent videos because you changed your youtube name. Any reason behind the name change? Aquaklef was quite unique.
@@GameTechTalk and yea, I hated on your Steam Deck vs WM2 video back when I was a Steam Deck fan boy and ironically ended up selling my Steam Deck for a WM2 because of your video LOL
The name change was decided around February, a little before my hiatus. AquaKlef was indeed unique, but I wanted something that rang true with what this channel is about. For people to have more information out of the name. And the last reason is eventually, there will be a website, and AquaKlef as a website would've been impossible to find. GameTechTalk on the other hand should do decent once it is up and running.@@FS-zt6tm
I am really sorry for your loss! And thank you for showcasing the gpd win 4, ive been very interested in getting one due to its amazing pc portability and included keyboard and mouse features. Great video, ive been subscribed to your channel for a while now. I found your channel when i looked up the gpd win max 2 2022 version.
Who knows, you could find yourself with a Win 4 but for that, you got to "crack the code" and win at the game of luck ahahah! All kidding aside, thank you for your kind words and for being a subscriber since then. Cheers! :)
You said everything with MMO machine, nothing quite comes close to GPD devices when MMO is at all in the scope of games to experience on their devices! Excited for Blue Protocol? :D
Salut!!!
Thanks for the video, Klef! 🙂 I am a WIN Max 2 (2023) person and I really love my device which replaced so many of my other devices. I've had the 6800U version before, so it was a logical step for me to get the 7840U version as soon as possible. Before I even knew about all the alternative handheld devices out there, and that was some years ago, I wanted to buy a WIN 3 but didn't because the Steam Deck has been announced back then. The GPD WIN 4 is pretty cool and I like what it can do, and I would've bought one if no all-in-one handheld laptop like the WIN Max 2 (2023) would exist. 😁
I held myself back by a lot with the WM2 2023 as I already own the 2022. It’s an expensive hobby so I’m holding off until the next refresh but I’m looking forward to an improved version!
Good to have you back brother! I'm sorry about your Mom, I hope you are finding comfort and peace in your grieving process. Personally I decided to pass on this specific GPD product. I'm still loving my Win Max 2 and Steam Deck. Although I will admit I couldn't pass on pre-order of the Lenovo Legion Go.
Thanks! I'm soooooo excited for the Lenovo Legion Go, I genuinely have to hold myself in check because I don't want to overhype my expectations and be met with disappointment. As it stands right now, I have my new favorite gaming handheld in hand (not yet reviewed) so I have big expectations if the Legion Go is to dethrone it.
Great video and sorry to hear about your loss. I actually stumbled on this channel since i only recently started looking at the gpd devices. Love the vibe in your videos
@@GameTechTalkCan't wait to see more of your content and best wishes to your family and you. I have a lot more homework to do about handhelds since looking for a steam deck upgrade
You have great taste! The GPD Win 4 is my second dream console after the OneXFly, which has the first review I saw on your channel. Thanks for all the details!
Finally a decent review. Not rushed. No one cares about oculink. It's portable. No one cares about the others on the market. This is the ultimate dream device. It's not about gaming. If you wanted a gamer, there's gamers. Don't compare this to gamers. It's not a gamer. It's just a machine. It's a handheld. It can game. That's fine. The other gamers don't have a full keyboard, run windows, or fit in your pocket, so it doesn't make any sense taking away cool points just because it doesn't give you an ultimate gaming experience. Not to long ago gaming and portability didn't even make sense, intergraded graphics was only shunned even though vaio machines always showed glimpses of a future with it, and if you think this isn't just a handheld, and that GPD doesn't just specialize in handhelds, then don't forget about the GPD pocket 3, which even though it is powerful enough to be a gamer, and is not truly a handheld, is not designed for gamers at all and has no sticks. As much as GPD wants the 4 to be seen as a gamer, objectively it makes a stronger case for just being a handheld PC which it is the best at and if anything it should be improved on that basis with a webcam as even the PS vita has a webcam.
Thanks for the kind words. As for Oculink, I want to see it adopted more to be honest. Sure, the discussion is around eGPU solutions right now but think about it, being immediate PCIe lanes access, the options could be limitless. You could connect a capture card, you could connect a triple USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 hub, a proper sound card for audio engineers... The options we'd have from Oculink becoming a standard could mean an even higher degree of user customization down the road. I hear you and I get that alot of discussions around handheld PCs are focused on gaming but all the same, Oculink, while being portrayed in the gaming space primarily, ultimately would have a truckload more usage down the road if adopted properly. And as much as "gaming" takes a lot of space in tech, it often is a driving factor for tech evolution, but down the road, anyone benefits from it. Cheers! :)
@@GameTechTalk Yeah I see that gaming definitely is a driving force for PC and device evolution. It's unfortunate if there isn't enough interest in different devices without gaming influence. Sure things get improved from it in the end but it makes it confusing if you want a powerful machine that's not all about games. We've had handhelds but 6800u onward makes them powerful enough to be realistic options regardless of game and especially for games. To me it's weird that manufactures find it hard to use the sticks as a mouse. The thing is, gaming isn't that hard to do when you look at other devices and how they're able to do it better with better screens, controls, battery, game support, streaming, and for less money. But the ultimate challenge is to make it work well on windows in that form factor which includes gaming, but the gaming is an afterthought when everything else is done right. To me making a device gamer oriented is the easy way out of making it a good device. And I don't think that's too wide of an ambition. The ambition is to run windows not the world.
Another great video! Thanks for all the super thorough information about the GPD Win 4. I have debating on getting this or the ROG Ally but seeing all the SD reader issues it's had, I think this might be a better fit for me.

Thanks, much appreciated. I gotta ask though, you mention my "bro", I do have two brothers, but they never were featured in any of my videos, at least I don't remember. Can you expand a bit on what you're referring to?
This giveaway is amazing! caught it while I was on my lunch break. The win 4 brings me back to my old Psvita. The only hope is that on the win 4 in the future they can get it slimmer so its even closer to how a vita felt.
thanks for the review really digging this product i want one so bad i'm so excited also sending love your way for you and your family through these times i appreciate the content glad your making these videos.
Whoa. I thought this was a new channel. As usual, deep and comprehensive review. I can feel your hard work in a lot of your reviews. I visited your channel many times before, and Glad you are back. Hope everything went well bro. and i just resubscribed
Welcome back! Your words mean a lot. Finding balance and structure is a key element for me but I now know my rhythm. All things worth doing take some time so not to worry, this time I'm back for good and I'm glad you see the evolution, effort but more importantly, value to subscribe again! Cheers :)
I had two instances where I had to deal with them, both times were positive but I think dealing with chinese companies altogether is just immensely different and a different approach to the consumerism in general I find.
@@GameTechTalk oh then I idk what I saw and what they were talking about. It was on a Reddit post most likely I saw it on but I’ll take your word for it.
My bad, I didn't mean it like that, I saw the same as you so not to worry, I think your inputs are very valid and relevant. I just meant it in the sense that I have had a different experience but unfortunately, I do hear that the "customer service" experience is not always on-par with what we'd expect, especially at the cost that these devices are. It's genuinely one of the things I hope they'd all greatly improve on over time. Thanks for engaging btw, it is greatly appreciated, I love talking with others in the community! :)
@@GameTechTalkno need to apologize everyone has different experiences I’m sure. And of course it is great to chat with others that’s share common interests, especially in the great community you have.
This handheld looks amazing, incrdible that thar much power can be packed into such a small package, super interested in how this would pair with the new gpd G1! Would love to get my hands on one of these!!
I was tempted to hop on the GPD G1 for content but truth be told, the cost vs. the chip is just too costly for my own personal taste. I might have budged if it wasn't a mobile chip but yeah.... I have been looking into getting a Oculink enclosure though as I'll be testing the Win Mini when I get it! Cheers! :)
@@GameTechTalk Makes sense, I watched. video of the USB 4 connection, and it seems similar to a 3070 connected over USB 4, so performance seems pretty nice, but that mobile chip and lack of upgradability for the future is definitely a factor to consider. Excited to see the oculink enclosure!!
Enjoyed watching this review! What I find really appealing about the Win 4 is the size and its price point. I travel a lot for work and for obvious reasons I can't bring my desktop, and between this and the ROG Ally I think this is the better fit for me. Great review and im sorry for your loss.
The footprint of that device is one of it's strongest aspect for sure, and GPD managed to pull it off without sacrificing anything major, if at all. Pretty impressive all around! Adressing my late Mother, I felt I was finally emotionally strong enough to talk about it out loud but somehow, I didn't anticipate the pouring out of understanding and love I would receive. There was a point in time that reading all those words would've been too difficult, despite knowing they come from a place of empathy/sympathy but now, they are received wholeheartedly so thank you and to whoever else who sees this that commented as well. It means a lot that people take a moment to address it. Cheers!
Steam Deck is definitely a safe bet and you can't really go wrong with it. It doesn't output as much power but, arguably, you are cutting it close enough for 95% of the titles out there and for a fraction of the cost.
Thanks! It's a solid device for sure but with Lenovo entering the fray, I wonder how impactful that release will be. Legion Go doesn't have a keyboard though.
Not subtantially no. In fact, I'd much more argue that the Win 4 is not the go to device for competitive FPSes. Let's unpack this real quick: #1 - Competitive shooters are SUPER well optimized, odds are it'd run great on both a 6800U and/or 7840U, to a point that one probably does not matter from a performance perspective. (the only exception to #1 might be not power CPU/GPU versus both chipsets but rather the increase in ram going from LPDDR5 to LPDDR5x.) #2 - The screen is smaller compared to other PC handhelds, that could potentially make it more challenging vs other options, assuming the video signal is not being pushed out to a monitor. #3 - The sticks are on the small, dare I say, very small side on the Win 4. While perfectly fine, they do not offer anywhere near the level of precision you'd get from larger analogs. (however, the range of motion is about as wide as a large stick so if you like analog stick sleeves, you might be able to address that issue) #4 - Both the 6800U and 7840U Win 4 models come with a 60hz screen. The 120hz is a very substantial jump in information when it comes to competitive FPSes, and higher refresh rate panels are often paired with faster latency, meaning that on equally matched opponents, the faster latency equipped player would have an edge over its nemesis that does not have the same benefit. Now keep in mind, I'm going at this from a very analytic perspective. If you were to tell me: "Oh I just want to have fun but competitive FPS is where I have it..." then I'd tell you none of this matters ahahahah! Cheers! :)
Very interested in my first GPD product and this seems to be it! Nice video! How would you go about purchasing another battery for this device though when that time comes?
I would think batteries found in these devices can all be found on websites such as AliExpress, most of these handhelds adapt "off the shelves" solutions to their chassis. If you're interested in the Win 4, you may want to look up the Win Mini as well. I'm hoping to have mine soon to work on my review piece. Cheers! 😀
Great review... Just wondering, Is there a decently priced oculink GPU enclosure? I just saw some home-made linking but I would want something more practical
Everything available right now is from China, I saw something on AliExpress and on Superbuy which is essentially a website that does the middle person between you and AliPay/Taobao, these types of "China exclusive" retail behemoths. I had intentions of ordering one but I put it aside as I have enough pilled up for the time being but yeah, there are a few options out there, but Superbuy will require a much more involved process so you may want to look that up first if you buy from there. Cheers!
Okay update now I got the win 4 and the ayaneo slide the win 4 and the slide both worked well before i had to pay an extra 4 to 500 dollars sending the win 4 back to work
You may have slight performance increase but if you do, it would be extremely minimal and really for a handful of titles. The one thing with these LPDDR5 and LPDDR5x soldered ram is the size doesn't impact speed, having more in a game that takes advantage of it does allow them to store more data at once, which might translate into more FPS but if so, it'd be overall little of it. Stability could also improve. The three largest advantages to larger ram variants are 1. Productivity for sure, that's a big part of why you'd go 32GB, 2. On 32GB you can dedicate say 16GB as GPU ram and never think about it anymore and 3. Future-proofing, while 16GB is currently fine for 99% of games, that might not be as factual in 3-4 years but that is like eating two meals to not be hungry later.... it's kind of unnecessary to think that way in tech. Take what you need now and later, when your needs may differ, address them then, if possible. Sorry for long answer but that should cover it 😁
i love my win 4 i have it hooked up to my monitor and play with a ps5 controller since im scared of getting stick drift on my gpd win 4 sticks nd i would rather get drift on my ps5 controller but i freaking love this thing. 💙🙏🏻
Depending on your level of comfort, you can also buy replaceable sticks to open it up and change them to hall sensors. As long as your setup works for you, that's the main thing and I love hearing about other gamers that enjoys their handheld PC as I enjoy mine! Keep the game grind alive my guy, cheers! :)
@@GameTechTalk yes i am currently playing elden ring. But i would like to ask if u have any games u recommend playin on my win 4 as i only play souls like games but i would like to play other awesome games any suggestions brother???
Nice video over all...however at 13:16, you said there is no fan noise or perhaps the sound is on-par with steam deck...i beg to differ here, because i have both steam deck and gpd win 4(6800u) and the reason why i displike the gpd win 4 is because of the fan noise, very annoying, but i stop hearing the noise once i use my headset...steamdeck on the other hand has a very low fan noise, infact you wont hear the fan noise when playing demanding titles on steam deck....if the fan on your gpd win 4 doies not make a noise, can you advise on what i can do so mine does not make noise like yours?
Not "no fan noise", it does make some but I do, in my experience, find that it is not all that different in that regard versus leading devices. Now, one thing that may be where our experiences differ, and I think your point is fair, is that my go-to when testing devices is to really push them to their limit. If you ask me, RoG ALLY, Steam Deck, my GPD Win 4, all pushed to their limit? The fan noise is quite similar in *decibel* but the pitch they make do not necessarily sound identical. In fact, I'd say my Steam Deck, which is literally one of the first units in NA, has a high pitch whine. My ear is tweaked to hear those way more. Also, and back to where I think you draw a fair assessment, the fan curve on the Steam Deck was greatly improved upon and for it to ramp aggressively, it requires to be in the upper echelon of what that handheld can output, whereas the Win 4 will have that fan ramp up much sooner, in the spectrum of the power it can dish out. But then, it can also dish out considerably more power as a whole. Does that make sense? Anyway, I'm happy you're having a different experience with the Deck and more importantly, I'm happy you're sharing this with me, with others, it helps you, me, everyone have a better understanding of how similar/different our devices can be. As for what I can recommend, if you don't, try fiddling with the TDP of your Win 4 and consider compromising power for comfort. Check your temperatures as well and if you feel that they are a bit high and feel comfortable doing so, consider repasting it, maybe with some PTM7950. Conversely, if your temps are low, you could create a different fan curve profile to allow your device to run a bit hotter and design your fans to kick in at a high temperature threshold. I hope this helps, thanks for your inputs! Cheers! :)
I mean, the very best part for me doing this YT thing is the comments. I genuinely love reading you guys and respond whenever. I don't know what it's going to be like when there are more comments than time that I have to read 'em all but I don't see how I'll ever stop reading people's inputs. People sharing their thoughts, experiences, etc. It really is my favorite part and also my biggest fuel. So thanks for partaking in that! Cheers :)
I got a good amount of videos in the pipeline but I'll try to take some time to evaluate the workload and if it's not too complex, I might take a spin at it. Thanks for the suggestion!
Just started watching yo videos quick questioning had the Win 4 6800U & when i used to plug in the charger the screen would go black but everything is still running did they correct the screen issue I heard it was a firmware issue ?
I have not ran into that issue myself but I did update the bios on the one used in this review, and the other one I have was received some time after the original campaign ended so I'm thinking it might had been patched before even getting to me.
Just bought the new one the 2024 model but im worried a little bit about quick resume sessions. On my steam deck im able to turn it on and off multiple ways but i dont see this on my other gpd win devices i have so im worried that this being a smaller device may still not work out like a vita or steam deck for those quick sessions. Do you know fo a way to do those quick resume sessions on these windows devices?
It's a hit and a miss but more often than not a hit I'd say. The problem is not so much the operating system but more how the ram can "freeze" data and resume like nothing happens when you come out of sleep. Basically, it's gonna be a "per title" kind of situation and on some titles, you may want to be strategical about it, say: "Pause your game before hitting the sleep button". But yeah, don't go in there expectation the same reliability as Steam Deck for that specific feature but take it from someone that didn't expect it'd work this good, it does, just not always.
Oh it'll happen for sure, I just don't know when at this point but I will go back to all the devices I wanted to cover and catch up on. When I have, a ROG ALLY video will have happened for sure. Thanks for being here for it!
Sadly, or maybe it's good? The 6800U can still beat out the 7640U in certain games that better leverage the increase in cores and threads. Thanks for the reviwe!
It's definitely a fair point to make, just not an expectation to have since CPU limited games are so far and few vs GPUs in these small compact gaming handhelds. But to be fair, my assessment is purely logical, I'm hoping to benchmark a 7640U in the coming weeks, I'll definitely try to find examples where that situation occurs and who knows, it might be more common than expected! 😊
@@GameTechTalk oh it's not a critique of your review. It's just something I wanted to mention for anyone curious. It's very easy to buy into the marketing and think 'oh well the 7640U is newer so it's definitely better right?' When in reality the 6800U can still pull its weight. As for CPU limited examples, starfield and BG3 will probably show something .. how much that something matters, well you'd have to test to see. Thanks again for the review!
No no, don't worry, I'm not susceptible like that, I was acknowledging your valid inputs and also adding to your comment which I think was extremely on-point. I also took this as an opportunity to let it be known that I'll be testing that aspect further down the road ahahaha! No worries good friend, I did not see offense in anything you said, before or now! In fact, my number one pleasure I get out of making videos is chatting with people so believe me when I say, it's quite the opposite. I should've phrased my sentence more appropriately, please excuse me for making you think I was. :)@@gamers-generation
But occulink is another port you have to worry about whereas a usc type c has many functionality. I’d rather have an extra type c than another new proprietary port that only does one thing
Of course you can, pretty sure you can do 8k (and most likely more) even if you wanted, it all comes down to the equipment you got but as far as the software goes, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci, all these tools are professionally used even in the amazing world of cinema, best believe that they can be leveraged any way that the editor sees fit.
Oh, I mean... Could you? Yes. Should you? No? If you did, I would STRONGLY recommend making proxies and doing your editing in 720p or 1080p and then once finished, shift your editing and files to 4k to export. But to your point, editing is definitely feasible on the Win Max 2 and the Win 4 is just as powerful, be it the 2022 or 2023 version. I'd definitely grab a 32gb version if you intend to export 4k files out of a Ryzen 6800U or 7840U. @@blackparabellum

Is the RGB really as bad as it looks on those triggers? It looks it's turned on the lowest brightness or something haha! I don't mind the thumbsticks not having the usual RGB rings around them, I find them a bit gimmicky and usually just keep them off to save battery.
Unfortunately, what you see is max brightness. The idea is a nice but I think rather than full translucent smokey, it should've been clouded white with much MUCH stronger LEDs. Hopefully they revisit it on their next r&d version.
@@GameTechTalk Thanks dude. I'm not big on RGB on handhelds at all, but if they are going to do something I'd rather them do it properly instead of giving us something half baked. Wait, whenever you are in handheld mode the Win 4 gives you a blue screen shortly after? Have you had any opportunity to bench your temps and check your cores/gpu to see if they showcase any weird behavior? It could be very simple, while it could be hardware based. It's quite difficult to troubleshoot hardware without having the device in hand but maybe it just needs a bit of tweaking and you'd be set. I assure you both ones in my current possession do not do that. Sorry to hear this is happening to you.

:) Cheers!
@@RadbatDa you can get the grips from the company it really help it alot
Thank you for the kind words and hope you get all you want out of that OXP2 Pro!
Sorry about your loss man. Wish I could afford something like this!!
Thanks!
This video showed up in my suggested feed and I'm glad it did. Very thorough and well read review of the device. I've been mulling over something in the GDP line for awhile to compliment my Steam Deck on the windows side without having to dual boot for it. Thanks for the great info!
Glad it was helpful!
great review man! very thorough and enjoyable, Im happy to see you posting again.
@@GameTechTalk yeah it's a hard balance but I think Gpd got close with this one
Sorry for your loss man, glad to have you back!
Thank you, it means a lot always, but definitely is special for me when coming from this community!
sorry for your loss...didn't realize you started posted again since your WM2 vids.
So very sorry for your recent loss! Great review/video...I recently discovered your channel and am glad to see you back with new content.
Happy to be back, thank you for the kind words!
Cheers! :)
the form factor and keyboard are really what hooked me, not only do I get the design of a psp/vita, I also have the perfect MMO machine
You said everything with MMO machine, nothing quite comes close to GPD devices when MMO is at all in the scope of games to experience on their devices! Excited for Blue Protocol? :D
Thanks for the video, Klef! 🙂
I am a WIN Max 2 (2023) person and I really love my device which replaced so many of my other devices.
Thank you and thank you! Glad you liked it and hopefully, I'll produce content that you can appreciate even more in the future. Cheers :)
Ahaha! Thank you kindly. Cheers :)
All that really holds these handhelds back is the battery. This one seems good overall though
It's a very well rounded device with some amazing standout features. Cheers! :)
Thanks for the review and your generosity! Good luck to everyone!

I’m new to the handheld space and saw you on the rh podcast a few weeks back, great video and I’m looking forward to seeing more in the future!
Thank you for the kind words. The RH members are such a great crew, I'm looking forward to spending more time in their midst in the future.
Glad you liked it! I’m hoping a 2024 Win 4 will be produced with a 120hz panel.

i think the win 4 is a very intriguing console . Heard the customer service from gdp isn’t the best but that’s just what i heard. Looks very fun
Cheers!
Trying to decide between something like this and a steam deck for emulation. I didn’t know about this until the algorithm showed me your video
Steam Deck is definitely a safe bet and you can't really go wrong with it. It doesn't output as much power but, arguably, you are cutting it close enough for 95% of the titles out there and for a fraction of the cost.
Just bought mine... Im so fucking stoked!

Love the vita style layout of this
Yeah it's pretty sleek looking!
Do you think this or something like the new 7840u devices would be better for competitive fps? Is the price difference worth it?
Not subtantially no. In fact, I'd much more argue that the Win 4 is not the go to device for competitive FPSes. Let's unpack this real quick:
#1 - Competitive shooters are SUPER well optimized, odds are it'd run great on both a 6800U and/or 7840U, to a point that one probably does not matter from a performance perspective.
(the only exception to #1 might be not power CPU/GPU versus both chipsets but rather the increase in ram going from LPDDR5 to LPDDR5x.)
#2 - The screen is smaller compared to other PC handhelds, that could potentially make it more challenging vs other options, assuming the video signal is not being pushed out to a monitor.
#3 - The sticks are on the small, dare I say, very small side on the Win 4. While perfectly fine, they do not offer anywhere near the level of precision you'd get from larger analogs.
(however, the range of motion is about as wide as a large stick so if you like analog stick sleeves, you might be able to address that issue)
#4 - Both the 6800U and 7840U Win 4 models come with a 60hz screen.
Cheers! :)
Great review, just subscribed!
Thanks for the sub! Looking forward to seeing you around.
Cheers!
Okay update now I got the win 4 and the ayaneo slide the win 4 and the slide both worked well before i had to pay an extra 4 to 500 dollars sending the win 4 back to work
I love both the win 4 and the slide

Hey, do you know if there’s any difference between 32gb and 16gb? Performance wise
Sorry for long answer but that should cover it 😁
New sub here very sorry to hear about your mom but I'm glad you seem to made it through well 🖤
Thank you so much! It took many lonely nights with me being in my head and in my feels but now I’m great and happy doing the thing I love!
i love my win 4 i have it hooked up to my monitor and play with a ps5 controller since im scared of getting stick drift on my gpd win 4 sticks nd i would rather get drift on my ps5 controller but i freaking love this thing.
Yo this GPD looks so sick and i know it can run AAA games! Imagine final fantasy 16 on this bad boy!
It might just run, we'll have to see how Square's engine performs on these handhelds but I'd be surprised if it doesn't once it is released for PC!
Cheers! :)
I've been looking for something to replace my DS love affair. I just can't seem to game on consoles or PCs 😢😢 This is tight though and now I want one.

Can you make a video on how to get the handheld companion to work on gpd win 4
I got a good amount of videos in the pipeline but I'll try to take some time to evaluate the workload and if it's not too complex, I might take a spin at it. Thanks for the suggestion!
Just started watching yo videos quick questioning had the Win 4 6800U & when i used to plug in the charger the screen would go black but everything is still running did they correct the screen issue I heard it was a firmware issue ?
I have not ran into that issue myself but I did update the bios on the one used in this review, and the other one I have was received some time after the original campaign ended so I'm thinking it might had been patched before even getting to me.
That keyboard will be so useful for modded minecraft
That and many more things, definitely a major plus to have!
Thoughts an asus rog ally? You should make a video on it.
@@GameTechTalk We're good, thanks for clarifying! Also no need to apologize, though that's a very natural Canadian reaction. 😄😄😄
But occulink is another port you have to worry about whereas a usc type c has many functionality. I’d rather have an extra type c than another new proprietary port that only does one thing
Fair enough, I like the idea of Occulink, I just haven't equipped myself yet to take full advantage of it.
Can you edit 4k videos with premiere pro?
Of course you can, pretty sure you can do 8k (and most likely more) even if you wanted, it all comes down to the equipment you got but as far as the software goes, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci, all these tools are professionally used even in the amazing world of cinema, best believe that they can be leveraged any way that the editor sees fit.
@@GameTechTalk I mean on the gpdwin4
Oh, I mean... Could you? Yes. Should you? No? If you did, I would STRONGLY recommend making proxies and doing your editing in 720p or 1080p and then once finished, shift your editing and files to 4k to export. But to your point, editing is definitely feasible on the Win Max 2 and the Win 4 is just as powerful, be it the 2022 or 2023 version.
I'd definitely grab a 32gb version if you intend to export 4k files out of a Ryzen 6800U or 7840U. @@blackparabellum
@@GameTechTalk thanks
Thank you for the giveaway op ✊💫🦅
Oh, I deserve no thanks believe me. The people who watch my videos are the ones that needs to be thanked. And I say during the 6 minutes mark, in the form of a joke but there is sincerity, giving back always made me feel good and this'll be no exception. Cheers!
Are we supposed to comment the hints in order?
No, you don't comment the hints at all that's immediate disqualification, what you do is acquire them and then you place them in order in the URL to go to the unlisted video. Cheers!
Good video
Thanks!

Got this coming next week but still looking forward to it after wanting something fresh from my Ayaneo 2. Cheers for the reply!
Had the win 4 for 24 hrs and it has given me the blue screen of death whenever i have it off dock and start a game or surf the web sometimes i dont do anything at all... still no real reply from gpd only on youtube telling me to replace the sdd if thats the only reply i get then im definatly saying DONT BUY THIS
Wait, whenever you are in handheld mode the Win 4 gives you a blue screen shortly after? Have you had any opportunity to bench your temps and check your cores/gpu to see if they showcase any weird behavior? It could be very simple, while it could be hardware based. It's quite difficult to troubleshoot hardware without having the device in hand but maybe it just needs a bit of tweaking and you'd be set.
I assure you both ones in my current possession do not do that. Sorry to hear this is happening to you.
yeah i was never able to messure temps or anything but its definatly broken i messaged gpd and they might e able to exchange it but idk yet id prolly have to pay for shipping@@GameTechTalk

Ultimate crap so many issues. I really love this handheld but i'an not informatician. 2,450 teraflop a really good desing and manufacture but 0 friendly. WIN3 is much better for software part. I buy a Onexfly and this device is just amazing. 3 teraflop and even a child deal with it.
They all have shortcomings, the name of the game is finding the one that suits you best.
