AND MINOR SPOILERS he didn't die in this battle but he was heavily injured to the point that he had to retire early cause his skull and brain got permanent damage, he had to walk using a cane. But this is Under Ninja we're talking about, he may or may not get cured it all depends on Kengo Hanezawa's writing. But overall I love Hibi's character as a whole.

But more importantly, if you think THIS is chuuni, you have clearly never seen any shounen show ever. Give the manga a try! It's fun (like, actually funny ... between all the carnage) and looks way better than the crappy animation.
