@Catholic Firefighter LOL you are still thinking that Korea is an ally of the US? Maybe back then but recently absolutely not. Former US Ambassador to Korea Mark Lippert was stabbed in Korea by some deranged anti-American pro-Commie Korean who there are many. Speaking of Ambassador, Korea also treated next US Ambassador Harry Harris who used to be a top ranking military personnel in the US Navy very poorly calling him all sorts of names. As you know, in America treating a military personnel or veteran, especially such a higher rank and influential one like that is absolutely unacceptable. Not to mention people destroying statues of McArthur, amongst others, their recent action cannot fool the US. Not only that Hyundai is a conglomerate chaebol owned by Chung family who is originally from the North (just like the current Commie China installed puppet Moon) who is very cozy with Commie China and Kim regime.
I would love to see a race between a 2018-2021 2.0T Stinger vs the new for 2022 Stinger with the 2.5T. Just so we can see how much the acceleration has improved with the new 2.5T. Preferably both rwd cars. That same 2022 Stinger vs the K5 GT or Sonata N-Line would be interesting, especially because the Stinger isn't equipped with the same 8spd DCT.
I just purchased a brand new 2021 Stinger 2.0. I looked at the 2022 model but did not open the hood and did not research the cars before buying. The Salesman told me everything was the same between the 2 years. I got a heavy discount on the loaded 2021 and took it home. I then found out the 2022 comes with a 2.5. Needless to say I was pissed. I went to dealer and they did nothing about their idiot salesman not knowing about cars. So I just ordered an Injen CAI, Racechip GT black, and NGK race plugs. This should put me around 300hp from the stock 250. So I will see how much the car improves.

As a Kia stinger gt2 owner I can tell you one problem is that even in sport the revs are kept relatively low. So if you're going to do a roll race you need to use the paddle shifters to keep the revs up right before you launch. I think that's why the hemi got a jump each time.
I just sold my 2019 GT2 Ceramic Silver to VROOM for more than I bought it for a year and a half ago! I loved it but my wife didn’t want to ride in it so it sat in the garage! Enjoy your most amazing automobile!
Hey Sam, I raced a RT 5.7 Hemi this past weekend too and loaded those 2 races on my channel for all to see. They are cool cars and sound nice.. Too bad it's just not tuned to at least be a bit faster, so it's at least half sec. faster 1/4 mile would be a fair balance for that cars weight etc.. It did very well on a roll, as do most V8's.. Thanks to Jake for bringing it out for a fun time...... PS ... Note, My stinger from a dig was much closer to the 392 Scats, than this RT was to this stinger... :-)
I can’t believe this.. As a former owner of the Charger Hemi and a Proud Current owner of the GT Stinger I cannot believe the Stinger walked the Charger like that just WOW
Having forced induction makes a much flatter and higher power curve. Giving the advantage to the Stinger. Forced induction makes a much higher and level power curve compared to a na engine. Still fun to watch. I'd love to see a twin turbo 5.7 Challenger. Then, this race would be the exact opposite. Great video. This one goes to the stinger.
If the 5.7 was twin turbo it would also be substantially higher horsepower and torque. So whatever point you were trying to make isn't really relevant.
@@Wolf.diesel , explaining power curves is pointless to someone that doesn't race cars. Or the difference between horsepower and torque. It's too bad your mind isn't open to a nice conversation about 2 cars racing and what changes can impact the race. AWD makes a huge difference on the street. But. Racing on a prepped track with drag radials will drastically change the launch of the rwd cars. Even though in this case. The power curve of the stinger still would have won. If you don't have anything constructive to say about the video. This conversation is over.
@@billhoman694 I never said I wasn't open to a conversation, so you're going out on a limb and making a massive assumption. My point is that this, from the way it appears, is just a simple run what you brought race between two stock vehicles with street tires. So to say that if the Charger was twin turbo doesn't really make sense. Yes I understand that the way the power hits changes things greatly, but to ignore the horsepower and torque gains from adding twin turbos to the 5.7 seems short sighted. That's an entirely different scenario, and one in which you'd have to modify the Stinger to keep it at least relatively fair.
Love the sound of that Hemi but Stinger and Genesis G70 have a great twin turbo engine! Love your videos, Sam. And thank you for the driver switch. Was interested to see if there would be any difference with that.
What I find really funny is that we're even comparing a 3.3 l V6 to a 6.2 or 6.4 l V8 with that alone Kia gains my respect even if the Dodge guys don't want a man up and keep it 💯
370 horsepower is very underpowered by todays standards. Basically every other V8 on the market currently makes at least 400HP. 5.0 in the Mustangs makes about 460 now, was 435 6.2 in the Camaro makes 455 5.7 Hemi in R/T chargers and challengers still make 370, not sure why so underpowered. I’m guessing because of Dodges marketing… I think they want people buying Scat Packs with the 6.4s making 480 which is actually good for how heavy those cars are. Basically you have to spend more money if you actually want speed and power, the R/T’s are just for people who want the V8 sound I guess and to say they drive a Hemi.
The only reason the Charger jumped out so much at 8:30 is because he was in manual mode in a lower gear. The car was immediately in the power band not having to downshift and then go.
Even in automatic it can do that. My 04 hemisport which is a truck well any ram 1500 is known with the 545rfe 2nd prime which is called passing gear the truck hauls ass just like how the charger move thats how my truck would move but when it goes to third it falls down hard 😂. Im not surprised at all that the charger could do that manual or auto you still get thrown back in your seat. Its just like you said its in the sweet spot the true power band. I just dont know if every car dodge has ever made is the same may wanna try that out and put in second gear lol
@@sergiozamora3181 It wouldn't have looked like that if the Charger was in normal auto mode and just stomped on the accelerator pedal. It would have been just like the Stinger and had to downshift (many gears) and then go. It was likely at 3-4k RPM and once the pedal was pressed it was off much quicker than the downshift + slightly turbo lag in the Stinger. If the Stinger was in the right gear it would have been basically even and quickly the Stinger would be well ahead like every other race.

1. the AWD definitely helps. Stock for stock, the charger struggles to stay planted with those tiny tires and torque. You can see his wheels spinning on the view of the 2nd run at the launch. I have a 2015 R/T and put 315 Nitto all seasons and they still spin just a little before they hook on the street.
Hmmm.... you had a choice and got a Korean car instead of Muscle Car? Nothing wrong in Kia Stinger though, but you will not drag race every day against stock R/T.
I owned the same spec charger for a year. It's not about how fast it is, it is faster than all the normal cars on the road but the race cars. What makes it unique is the deep exhaust sound that come from the factory. 5.7 hemi has the deepest, most subwoofer like exhaust sound, even sounded better than Ford's 5.0l V8. Muscle cars were never just about speed it's about the style and the overall package.
Great race, thank you! But I can't understand the result. From a stop - yes, the AWD, reduced weight gives advantage to Kia. But from a roll, how Stinger started to get the Charger and reached it?
@@AK.__ yes, rear axle ratio i.e. gearing. This is majorly overlooked by folks that don’t know enough about how to maximize performance. The gearing provides better acceleration and keeps the car within the powerband. Too high a gear like that in an R/T auto is total crap from a performance perspective.
@@gotmylk That's actually truth. Before having an R/T (but i think it has improved 3.06 or 3.09 - do not remember) I even didn't think about this aspect. But how come that Kia engineers thought about this and Chrysler not? Or probably being AWD it by default has better gearing
@@AK.__ Chrysler thought about it and does it well in the Scat, Hellcat and Demon. The R/T was the car they produced as grocery getters for dad's that want to look cool but get good gas mileage. The 3.73 which is in the Stinger is also (if I'm not mistaken) the gear in the Mustang GT premium package. Automatics get high gears (lower the number) for fuel economy. C5 corvette in A4 came with a 2.95 and 3.15. Both slugs and hence why most performance minded A4 owners swap to a 3.42 from the MN6.
If you drive both cars you would probably take the charger. I did and didn't even give the Stinger a second thought after one test drive. Just not a special car despite the power
I own a 2021 Stinger and it's been a blast. Compared to the german cars I saved 15 000$ but lost a bit of luxury/comfort. Compared to the american cars I get more luxury/comfort and I expect better reliability.
That all wheel drive really helps out that stinger on the launches wow. But you just can't beat the shift sound and engine sound... Except with a hellcat haha
The kia will gap a hell cat for a 1/8mile but of course the hell cat will win on the big end ..and the hell cat will win in a roll race but off of a dead start the kia is gonna gap it
This event was 100% fully and completely decided after the first race. This is one of the better examples of beating a dead horse that I've ever seen in my life.
5.7 Hemis come with very modest ecu tunes. My 03 1500 ram 5.7 became a different animal once I installed a tune with a superchips hand held tuner via the OBD2 port. After the addition of a K&N intake kit and replacing the muffler with a magnaflow it was even better. It went from 8.9 to 8.2 on the 8th mile track.

No duh. The displacement already almost twice as much 🙄 with two more cylinders
If the 5.7 was twin turbo it would also be substantially higher horsepower and torque. So whatever point you were trying to make isn't really relevant.
@@Wolf.diesel exactly his comment is pointless. besides im pretty sure this outcome probably has more to do with the transmission than anything

What I find really funny is that we're even comparing a 3.3 l V6 to a 6.2 or 6.4 l V8 with that alone Kia gains my respect even if the Dodge guys don't want a man up and keep it 💯
The 5.7 hemis are very powerful and accelerate insanely well this blows my mind. I really wanna test drive a kia stinger now
370 horsepower is very underpowered by todays standards. Basically every other V8 on the market currently makes at least 400HP.
5.0 in the Mustangs makes about 460 now, was 435
6.2 in the Camaro makes 455
5.7 Hemi in R/T chargers and challengers still make 370, not sure why so underpowered. I’m guessing because of Dodges marketing…
I think they want people buying Scat Packs with the 6.4s making 480 which is actually good for how heavy those cars are. Basically you have to spend more money if you actually want speed and power, the R/T’s are just for people who want the V8 sound I guess and to say they drive a Hemi.
@@shaunkennedy174 what do you mean "Every other V8"? You do realize that the stinger has a V6?
If the Stinger was in the right gear it would have been basically even and quickly the Stinger would be well ahead like every other race.

the AWD definitely helps. Stock for stock, the charger struggles to stay planted with those tiny tires and torque. You can see his wheels spinning on the view of the 2nd run at the launch. I have a 2015 R/T and put 315 Nitto all seasons and they still spin just a little before they hook on the street.
Daz dat hemi tq boi
Watching this makes me not regret taking the stinger over the r/t all I need now is to change the stock exhaust.
Mbrp makes a nice exhaust for the stinger
That’s what I got. Mbrp exhaust makes it sound mean. The aem intakes help a lot too
Hmmm.... you had a choice and got a Korean car instead of Muscle Car? Nothing wrong in Kia Stinger though, but you will not drag race every day against stock R/T.
Do you race everyday ? The charger has more presence than the stingrr
Did you use the launch in the Stinger?
I owned the same spec charger for a year. It's not about how fast it is, it is faster than all the normal cars on the road but the race cars. What makes it unique is the deep exhaust sound that come from the factory. 5.7 hemi has the deepest, most subwoofer like exhaust sound, even sounded better than Ford's 5.0l V8. Muscle cars were never just about speed it's about the style and the overall package.
Curious if a rwd stinger would get the same results too
I think the rwd ones are a bit faster
Great race, thank you! But I can't understand the result. From a stop - yes, the AWD, reduced weight gives advantage to Kia. But from a roll, how Stinger started to get the Charger and reached it?
Gearing
@@gotmylk You mean, the rear axle ratio, where basically engine gives same output, but the wheels make more turns? Or something else?
Well I officially want a Kia
If you drive both cars you would probably take the charger. I did and didn't even give the Stinger a second thought after one test drive. Just not a special car despite the power
