The stinger was surprisingly quick considering less power and a lot more weight, especially with 2 less cylinders I was surprised the mustang held of the scat too, definitely interesting
Would be interesting to see the engines in the same car. The Challenger is overcoming a lot pushing all that weight, worse aerodynamics, gearing, etc. I wonder how much of the Mustangs potency is the inherent DOHC top end and how much is just from being a more focused performance car.
Why doesn't anyone ever let the automatic transmission do the actual shifting? The transmission itself is programmed to never miss a beat, where shifting manually there will always be human error. I feel outcomes would be a little different if the automatic was left alone to do the work.
in a race like this yea i think leaving the transmission on auto makes sense, but if you're having fun and racing, switching it to manual gives you more control into having the car do what you want.
Would love to see a AWD vs RWD Stinger. I want to see the difference a drivetrain makes using the same powertrain. AWD takes the lead on a dig but I think 2WD has an advantage on a roll. I'm thinking it's because of less resistance in the drivetrain since the other 2 wheels are just there and there's no shaft or diff connecting all 4 wheels.

Those Stingers will be a classic and legend one day, once people finally get the hint/news that Kia done channeled that inner *cough* german *cough* power. Like an RS7 and a Hyundai Genesis 5.0 had a baby. And named it Stinger. 😂

There is a bit of an interesting discussion going on right now about the 392 making more power than advertised (not just the one in this video, all of them). Motortrend did a dyno video back in 2015 and the 392 put down 434rwhp which means it’s more like 510hp (assuming 15% DTL) instead of it’s rated power.
That is what they max out at that is the highest I ever seen 532HP but it’s not consistent so Dodge plays it safe and puts a lower HP they did the same thing in the 60s and 70s

I'd love to see a tuned stinger vs a the other two cars. Some may argue that is not fair, but that was always the import vs domestic argument. Turbo cars, you can tune and up the boost a lot cheaper than doing, headers, cam, CAI for muscle cars.
It’s not a fair comparison because it’s a mod. As soon as you start modding it’s just whoever has the biggest wallet wins. That’s why stock vs stock is a common way to compare.
lb per hp the stinger should theoretically be slower- but that doesnt account for traction- that is clearly an AWD option AND these kias have launch control. Pretty fun.
My Stinger is very spry off a red light :) I haven't bothered with a tune but I did have Eibach sway bars and coils installed which adds a great deal of stability. Given its a roomy sedan with a power hatchback and large storage space its hard to reconcile how fast it really is.

I love my Stinger, especially in the rain. I doubt many cars hook up better than it. The Mustangs, Camaros and Mopars seem like they are still waiting for the light while I put several car lengths on them. But from a roll a car with 100 more hp should beat me, but I can hang very well.
All in all, pretty much what I expected. Stinger AWD will ALMOST always take the dig unless you can actually launch the 392 good enough, the torque will take over. Mustangs always have great top end power, especially with the amazing 10 speed. Subjectively, I'd take the 392 for the looks, comfortability, and just sheer punchiness and fun factor of the torque. All great cars.
Actually stock stinger is faster than a 392 not sure about the new 10 speed 5.0. It depends on the region and specs. Here in the middle east we only get RWD Stinger and its 400 lbs less heavy than AWD US/Canada Stinger.
Iv got a 19 gt2 rwd stinger so it has the lsd. It’s honestly about the same off the launch as the awd one but it’s quite a bit faster on the roll. Added cold air intakes, catback exhaust and midpipes with HKS plus and a jb4 and the look of stunned is hilarious.

Mustang GT 10-Speed in S+ mode definitely wins over these two. Dig and roll. Never paddle shift a 10-Speed! I feel like the owner of the Mustangs should be the one racing and behind the wheel. I said what I said.
You are 100% correct. The 10 speed doesn't like to be shifted with the paddles and it also doesn't like when you just floor it instead of downshifting with the paddles and then letting the computer take over after that. Also drag mode is the fastest roll mode and if it hooks from a dig👌👌

I knew something was off in the mustang gonna have those garbage tires in a dig race the mustang would have won every single race if it had proper tires
Im a former 392 Charger owner and a current 10 speed 5.0 owner. Ultimately the stinger is a slow car but it shines against factory tuned cars because the stinger has less power to put down than the 392 and the Mustang. You can't go full throttle on a 392 or a Mustang unless you're on a prepped drag strip. The stinger only has the ability to hold off a 392 for a brief time if the 392 launches poorly, same with the Mustang. Ultimately a 392 and a 5.0 Mustang are much faster cars. The stinger is an interesting car for the price, but it's not a truly fast car like a 392 or a Mustang.
Give the Chally its propers. It’s 500 lbs heavier than the stang and making roughly the same up and it was winning the digs when he got the launch right. The roll was gonna be the stang. More gears and high end power of that 5.0 stinger with awd and good power and good trans = stop light terror. All 3 cars are sick. I’d love to own any one of them.

With AWD not surprising It was quick off the line but it held that lead longer than I thought it would’ve. Thanks for that video, really fun to watch. Ross
only reason it held as long as it did is Sam is clueless about driving the Mustang. A 10 Speed 5.0 Absolutely obliterates both Stingers and Scat Packs. This video is terrible.
This is not the intent of the Stinger since it’s a GT car but think it surprised everyone by it’s performance. Even more fun in the twistees! I love mine and get a lot of Sportscars from the dig.
As a stinger owner, I didn't buy it for it's straight line speed, cool that it does well. Where it really outclasses these cars is on the back roads. Too soft for track but wow that suspension seems perfectly tuned for NC mountain passes.
No way it outclasses the mustang in the backroads. Maybe the challenger because they handle terribly, but modern mustangs and Camaros are some of the best handling cars.
@@jeoffbenzos4959 When I say backroads I mean super tight twisty mountain roads. I'd never have the confidence to drive a mustang or a camaro that fast on US129 or something like that. For the money the Stinger is the real deal out there it's crazy. One of the most planted feeling cars in the tight stuff I've driven, moreso than my dad's Cayman S and 911 4S he had a few years back. @@BrandoDrum They are wild and hard to tame for inexperienced drivers. But for experienced drivers you can't beat RWD cars for handling and cornering. You can carry so much more speeds through corners with RWD cars. You may feel your car is more planted, but that doesn't translate to faster cornering. You are 100% correct. The 10 speed doesn't like to be shifted with the paddles and it also doesn't like when you just floor it instead of downshifting with the paddles and then letting the computer take over after that. Also drag mode is the fastest roll mode and if it hooks from a dig👌👌
They’re all slow lmao, a stock 13 yr old Corvette will gap tf out of these boats…I said what I had to say 🤣
I agree with you because I have an 2018 mustang gt 10 speed and there is a big difference if you don’t use the paddle shifter
You need the performance pack tires at least if you wanna have a good race from a did with the mustang. Those 235's all seasons won't cut it. But that ice white package is nice 👌🏽
Yeah , when I had a mustang 275's still spun and didn't even cut it. I can't even imagine 235's trying to do anything with it
I knew something was off in the mustang gonna have those garbage tires in a dig race the mustang would have won every single race if it had proper tires
I’d love to own any one of them.
sam. please let the owners use their own vehicles. they can use them better i’ve noticed. no offense love the content!
I own a 2016 mustang GT. I love it. She turns heads here in the UK as they’re not as common over here (even the S550’s).
But I have to admit it, Ropers 392 looks awesome in that Green and sounded epic!!
That stinger also took me by surprise.
Its a modded stinger
Coolest thing is watching the thing hanging from the mirror of the Stinger during launch. Just pretty neat.
Kia is all wheel drive, its not going to spin off the line. I guaranty the Dodge and Ford are spinning the tires off the line.
We want the Nissan Z vs Mustang gt , both AT 😍👌🏻
Badass Mustang of course It’ll catch up to the stinger and win at the end. And is crazy how AWD makes a difference
I have that mustang gt , don't use the paddle shift , the transmission thinks faster than we do and it's quick . Loved all the cars !!
I've never seen anyone drive one without the damn paddles and they are always 2 seconds slower to 60 then I am on my local roads.
Interesting results. Of course, results will vary with different drivers and reaction times. Thumbs up.
Wish I could have got my old Fusion Sport on here. $18k used with $5k in mods making 413hp @ the wheels and 400 ft-lbs. Fantastic sleeper.
If he would have let the 392 shift auto he would have won
As a stinger owner, I didn't buy it for it's straight line speed, cool that it does well. Where it really outclasses these cars is on the back roads. Too soft for track but wow that suspension seems perfectly tuned for NC mountain passes.
No way it outclasses the mustang in the backroads. Maybe the challenger because they handle terribly, but modern mustangs and Camaros are some of the best handling cars.
Your AWD 4 door Kia is not beating a new mustang on the backroads sorry pal look at the Nurburgring times I’d bet you would beat the challenger though
@@jeoffbenzos4959 When I say backroads I mean super tight twisty mountain roads. I'd never have the confidence to drive a mustang or a camaro that fast on US129 or something like that. Neither would you. Those cars are described as "wild" and "difficult to tame" not "confidence inspiring". You'd worry about going off the cliff. For the money the Stinger is the real deal out there it's crazy. One of the most planted feeling cars in the tight stuff I've driven, moreso than my dad's Cayman S and 911 4S he had a few years back. Those have stupidly tall gear ratios for those twisty roads and you could never stay in power and of course they want to oversteer so the rapid switchbacks just make you absurdly nervous. Track prowess doesn't translate to tight twisty roads directly IMO.
@@BrandoDrum They are wild and hard to tame for inexperienced drivers. But for experienced drivers you can't beat RWD cars for handling and cornering. AWD is much more forgiving to beginners, but has diminishing returns mainly due to the added weight. That's why the F1 cars, and the fastest production cars are almost exclusively RWD. You can carry so much more speeds through corners with RWD cars. You may feel your car is more planted, but that doesn't translate to faster cornering. There are metrics and tests that go far beyond "feeling planted" to see how well a car corners. Cars that handle and corner better will handle twisty roads better.
Motortrend Figure-8/lateral acceleration:
AWD Stinger - 25.2s/0.90 g
Mustang GT PP2 - 23.6/1.11g
Camaro SS 1LE - 22.90/1.12 g
@@jeoffbenzos4959But you're missing the point. Backroads = road you don't know. YOU as a driver will drive harder and faster in a car that feels more planted vs. a car known to slide uncontrollably into crowds of people exiting parking lots. And also, you're comparing the Stinger which has no mega special versions to two of the most expensive and upgraded versions of those two cars which both sport tires several inches wider and far more aggressive than a factory stinger. I'm no stinger fanboy frankly, it's a Kia. It's fast because it drives well and also you are less afraid of wrecking it lol. "The fastest car in the world on the back roads isn't a Porsche 911, it's a Rental Car" ~Jeremy Clarkson.
Just wondering the efforts it takes to get all these 3 vehicles from different sources to race track . Good job Sam
Let the 10spd shift itself and use the modes you have from a dig use drag , from a roll use track or sport plus or even drag
All three are great cars. Unfortunately two of them are now discontinued after 2023. But fun video. I always thought Dodge should have offered a Scat in a AWD configuration. But massive rear drive burnouts and donuts are a blast too. 😁.
Mustang ain’t being discontinued 😂. Ford probably won’t ever discontinue the Mustang it’s America’s most iconic car.
@@xkcash_238i thought it was Tesla?😂😂
Now imagine if the stinger had 450hp from stock.
Even without it’s a good ass car for daily driving and faster than 75% of traffic
As in “dream on”
Iv got a 19 gt2 rwd but Iv added cold air intakes, catback, midpipes, HKS plugs, jb4 I’m easily 425+whp
Burger Motorsports has a 420awhp package for the Stinger for only $1200 (just intakes, jb4, and spark plugs essentially). Once you add this, a stock Stinger almost feels slow. Be careful though, you'll hurt A LOT of feelings. Lol
@@danp2866 I’m sure you need full bolt ons as well?
That mustang on top end swipes the floor with both cars
