So i cut my hair off threwout my clothing and started doing pushups and burpys everyday.. my mental health has improved so much i feel like i can get a job and a girlfriend for the first time in 20 years

      Yeah, but it's people like Ben that are directly responsible for people not being able to sit down any longer and just have a nice political discussion. He's not solely responsible, but there's a direct correlation. I'm getting close to old fart status, and you are correct, I remember in the 90s and early 2000s being able to sit at a bar, and disagree on an issue or politician with a stranger sittin' next to me, and have a lively debate about it, taking turns buying rounds. Then at the end of the night give each other a polite tip of the hat, and be on our way. Now a days, you'd be lucky not to get knifed or shot doing that..lol.

EVEN THE FUCKING STUDY HES REFERING TOO SAYS THIS DELIBRATELY AND HE COMPLETELY FUCKING IGNORES THE STUDYS CONCLUSION
      "Results
      The overall mortality for sex-reassigned persons was higher during follow-up (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 1.8-4.3) than for controls of the same birth sex, particularly death from suicide (aHR 19.1; 95% CI 5.8-62.9). Sex-reassigned persons also had an increased risk for suicide attempts (aHR 4.9; 95% CI 2.9-8.5) and psychiatric inpatient care (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 2.0-3.9). Comparisons with controls matched on reassigned sex yielded similar results. Female-to-males, but not male-to-females, had a higher risk for criminal convictions than their respective birth sex controls.
      Conclusions
      Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. Our findings suggest that sex reassignment, although alleviating gender dysphoria, may not suffice as treatment for transsexualism, and should inspire improved psychiatric and somatic care after sex reassignment for this patient group.
      This is from the study Long-Term Follow-Up of Transsexual Persons Undergoing Sex Reassignment Surgery: Cohort Study in Sweden. The Lady who lead the study even was pissed off because right wing dipshits like ben shapiro use her study to oppose GR when that wasnt the purpose or finding of the study.. As a matter of fact as you might have read they even say in clear fucking english.. "our finding suggest SR alleviates Gender dysphoria"... Which is what the purpose of Gender reassignment and sexual reassignment.... Thats it, its not a end, all be all to fucking mental health issues.. This is why I seeth at people like Ben because their all dipshits who cant read the introductions to these studies and read headlines and run with it.. and people like you think their fucking insanely smart.

Her thinking was flawed but I thought Ben was very respectful as well -- never laughed at her, stayed civil, never implied she was stupid just pointed out the flaws in her arguments, and looked for a point of agreement at the end. And that's why I enjoy listening to Ben Shapiro as opposed to some other conservatives who mock those who disagree with them, treat them disrespectfully etc. Plus he does have that super quick mind, always a sight to see since I have what you described and the French have a term for: "L’espirit de l’escalier" ("the wit of the staircase") or the shower in your examplle - heh!

    Watching this, as a 58 year old man who is old enough to remember when people weren't too cowardly to speak the truth, or tell someone they were delusional and needed professional help, it is so sad to me when I see people actually surprised when someone confronts an idiot with the obvious. People used to boldly speak the truth, and if that hurt some idiot's precious little feelings that was their problem. It is not our job to play along with someone else's delusion.
    On a further note. Exactly how healthy (mentally) would you consider someone who would kill themselves because someone else disagreed with them, judged them to be an idiot, or refused to play along with their delusion? No, they did not commit suicide because someone refused to call them a woman when they were obviously a man. They committed suicide because they were mentally ill, and never learned to cope with the realities of life!

Upon asking my scout master if she could he said no because you have to be a boy to be in the boy scouts. For me, abortion boils down to a single question:
    Why is murder considered so heinous? Because a murder destroys any future that person had. The memories they would create with others, the impact they'd have on people and the world, the potential that they had.
    Abortion does the same exact thing. A fetus is a developing human. Killing that fetus destroys any future that person may have had. It's the same reason why miscarriages are so devastating.

    • @xravenx24fe
      @xravenx24fe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty much. To me, the argument of whether it is murder or not is cut and dry, it's obviously murder. People just like to play games because they refuse to admit that they like to quantify the value of human life between humans based solely on "potential." I'm sure that plenty of geniuses that could have benefitted mankind far more than their parents ever could were wrongfully terminated before birth because their parents took it upon themselves to rank their lives and comfort more than human life and ended them for it.
      I'd honestly argue that it's a fine example of universal morality that most people share...no one thinks it's fair that someone else decides their fate for them. Who cares if they were in the womb or 30 years old when some random person decided to take their life?

    • @sunshynff
      @sunshynff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Who says that "developing" human being is a human being, that is the ONLY thing it boils down to, the determination of when life begins. Religious folks that are big anti-abortionists should pay attention to their bible, because the god in their book says life doesn't start until the infant is outside of the womb breathing air.
      I'm not religious, so that part there doesn't matter to me, but the the heart isn't fully developed until after the 20th week, the brain, and other vital organs after that, so before 20 weeks, the fetus has no functioning heart no brain to hold memories. And 97.6% of all abortions in the U.S. happen at or before the 20th week. 20 weeks is also the time period where they can test the fetus to see if it will have any defects or diseases if it goes to term. If you know that future, the one you speak of, is going to be full of struggle and pain and suffering from an uncurbable disease, then what? You don't think the future mother of that suffering human being, should have any say, or not be able to choose not let that happen?
      Where's the cut off at too, on when life begins, and who gets to decide? I mean if you're considering the basis as just "potential life" then if abortion is made illegal, then masturbation for men should be illegal, I mean that's in the ballpark of 100million lives each time you blow load into your sock, that's a LOT of potential lives being killed.

    • @twohorsesinamancostume7606

      @@sunshynff Basic biology says life begins at conception. So does the vast majority of Christian denominations. So do the vast majority of religions.
      The only people who question when life begins are amoral liberals who want to murder a baby because they were too stupid or lazy to use easily available and cheap birth control.
      Also, way to point to the most extreme case to make your point. That means you don't really have one and you know it. The 99% of abortions aren't done for health reasons, nor rape or any other reason beyond "I was too dumb not to use birth control."

    • @holysecret2
      @holysecret2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Your framing is only taking into account the future, not the past of the person. Disregarding morality for a second, and looking at it purely "mechanically", a person at any age past 0 will have friends, loved ones, have had impact on other people's lives and matter to them. If that person died, it would also impact the wider world around them, which is also part of why murder is so harmful, as it not only cuts off that person's future, but also damages their social surroundings probably irreparably, to an extent depending on how connected they have been of course. In that particular sense, the abortion issue is a "cleaner" process, where the only people really involved are the parents, and the child, insofar as it could or should be considered as such at the stage of its development.
      Most people will agree* with disallowing abortion after a certain point, I believe mainly around the time where the child forms a nervous system and can experience pain and some form of memory or identity building or something. So to do with how the abortion would impact the child itself. I personally have no deeper understanding, but that is how it appears to me, and as far as that is factual, that would be my personal boundaries around accepting the practice, as long as the child, or child-to-be, doesn't feel pain or loses what it has not yet gained.
      Morally speaking, certainly I would like there to be good reasons though, such as being a rape victim I child born from that might grow up being resented by its mother, fatherless and it would also deeply affect the child psychologically whenever it eventually finds out about where it came from (being born from hatred so to speak, not love.) Another instance that I would condemn socially, with regards to its circumstances, but understand the reasoning in that case, would be something like teen pregnancy, where there is maybe no supporting family that could take care of the child, and where the mother is financially and personally (due to lack of age and maturity) unable to really do that.

    • @sunshynff
      @sunshynff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@holysecret2 I agree with most of what you said, but unfortunately as a society we have to put morality aside and choose one way or another. Morality is a very personal thing, it's an individualistic virtue, and it can be very subtly different like you explaining where you'd like to see the line drawn. You could have two pro choice people that have feel almost the same way about abortions but have slightly different morals on it. One may be a firm no on any termination past the first trimester, bit for any reason, too young, rape, whatever, and he next door neighbor and good friend could be a hard no on rape cases because she says it's not the child's fault, but is ok with up to 3rd trimester if the mothers life is in danger.
      When a group of people, community or society unofficially agree on something, or certain "unwritten rules" develop, those are considered ethical beliefs. The famous example is the drowning baby in the fountain. There's no laws on the books in most towns that state specifically you have to save a baby if one were to fall in a fountain and is drowning, but if a baby did fall in the town fountain and the mother couldn't be found, probably 99%, hopefully all, of the people in that town would consider it unethical not to help, or agree that it would be your civic duty as a good citizen and human being to save the baby.
      Then when an ethical belief gets more wide spread, and to the point people dissect it and decide where that line is in that particular ethical situations, they vote on where that line should be, and create a punishment if it is crossed or broken, and we then call it a law. I think that's why abortion is one of the biggest hot button debates, because it's such a diverse subject with moving parts, and people get their morality and ethical beliefs all tangled up in the law and it's hard to get a general consensus.

    Bullying isn’t a factor because the reaction to the bullying is a big part of the disorder. As Ben pointed out , other bullied groups and individuals don’t commit suicide at anywhere near the rate transgender people do.

      Seems to me that the way to address people who would commit suicide is to teach them how to effectively cope and deal, especially with negative emotions. Not asking society to bend over and be more kind and all that. That's out of the individual's control.

Something which sustained human societies for tens of thousands of years. In my neighborhood, you had your fists, your teeth and your heart. Which of those you were willing to sacrafice determined where you were placed in the chain. And once established, those above you would be your biggest defender, because you were a member of that clan. Folks above me in our clan actually protected us from bullies. The main issue I have with this debate is that he’s debating with someone who doesn’t have that skill. She doesn’t know how to make claims from a scientific or philosophical stance, only emotional. I think if you're going to consider the "bully" argument, you'd probably have to look at what % of bullied kids commit suicide. The difference in number there just seems to high for bullying to be a major factor. As someone who isn't transgender though, I obviously haven't experienced what it feels like

    • @SuomenPaska
      @SuomenPaska 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah it's difficult to tell honestly, you can only assume how much each factor plays a part. My understanding of transgenders is that they genuinely feel like they identify with the opposing sex more strongly than the one they were biologically born with, so being bullied for that makes you feel like your entire being and concept of self is being questioned and you feel extremely alienated. Adding on to that, a large number of transgenders also struggle with their family not accepting them for who they want to be, when family should be atleast some kind of safe haven where you can truly feel respected and loved for who you are, or want to be.
      All of this together likely plays a massive part on the suicide rates. It's not correct to call it a mental illness at all, and based on these prior observations I don't think that is the cause for the higher rates. There used to be a time when homosexuality was also considered a mental illness. Times change and people, hopefully, can be more understanding. Ben Shapiro can sound smart and witty in his argument, but he often misses a lot of important key points.

    • @loud6037
      @loud6037 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's bound to be a factor in individual suicides among trans people, but without other unique factors coming into play, it wouldn't account for the much higher numbers overall, because bullying affects people across the board in society and so from a logical point of view it does nothing to explain that disparity. It does probably exacerbate whatever other factors contribute to the suicide rate, but eventually you'd have to concede that it's those other factors that are more likely to be the main causes of higher rates.
