A little bit of context for you: the reason Ben went in guns blazing (pun intended) is because he found out that backstage there was a survivor of Sandy Hook standing ready to go up there and be used as an emotional argument against Ben's policy on guns. So it was either this, or let Pierce proceed with his gross tactic of literally standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook. In the end, Pierce backed off and never executed his plan. So this was a huge win for Ben.

Fun fact - I've seen some interview or lecture of Ben Shapiro where he talked about this debate and why he accused Piers for standing on the graves of kids. Ben said that when right wingers argue their positions they tend to talk about facts and policies, while the left tend to talk about feelings and morality. The left tend to take the stance of "I have my opinion because i'm a moral person, therefore if you disagree you're not a moral person". As he said in this debate to Piers, they demonize those who disagree with them.
So Ben's strategy in this debate was to instantly sweep Piers off of the morsal pedestal. Attack his own morality to put him on the defensive, before he can attack Ben's morality, and then go "let's move away from talking about who is more moral and actually discuss the issues themselves".

Hey Alex, I'm a conservative and love watching videos where people have these discussions: Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson, Steven Crowder, Joe Rogan, etc. You're right that it's so rare to find respectful conversations today. If you disagree slightly with someone's views, you're automatically evil and "on the other team." I miss the days when we didn't know what anyone's politics were. As a kid, I had no idea who my parents/teachers/coaches, etc. voted for. Now, it's how we separate people. Kinda sad. I don't know where you stand politically, and that's refreshing. You're obviously entitled to have an opinion, and it seems like you're mostly "common sense." Most of the world is, it's the extremes on both sides that seem to be the loudest, especially online. The problem I have with "gun control" is you don't control much, if anything, by doing it. The want to change it is emotional, which yes, it's a justified feeling, but people trying to make policy from an emotional standpoint isn't gonna work well. That's why we're a constitutional republic with democratic elements like the filibuster, and not full on democracy, so the passions of the people don't turn into tyranny of the 51%. A proper red flag law might work but not under our current justice and education system. If Shapiro had been discussing this with Jordan Peterson, I'll eat my shoes if Jordan wouldn't immediately have asked him something like "well what do you mean by 'good'? What do you mean by 'bad'?" What people don't know is that there are serial numbers on a lot of guns. And they don't take into the fact that, when the weapon is stolen, the serial numbers can be shaved off. Making it untraceable. So when a person says "another mass shooting just happened" my typical reply is "was the weapon with the serial numbers not in tact?"

What I find to be the most ironic thing? Piers Morgan is now a commentator for Fox News, lol.
Thing is, in this interview, every mass shooting mentioned used an AR-15. Calling something an "assault weapon" does nothing for the debate, given that the proper distinction to make is between automatic and semi-automatic. An automatic weapon happens when you pull the trigger, and multiple rounds are expelled. A semi-automatic weapon only has 1 round be expelled when the trigger is pulled.
The problem is, when definitions aren't defined, the presumption is that every weapon is an automatic, when automatic weapons are very highly regulated, and most weapons sold aren't automatic weapons. The vast, vast, vast majority of weapons sold are semi-automatic weapons.
So this whole "assault weapon" tangent really answers no questions, because it is far too easy to move the goalposts, using a vague and ambiguous definition, such that "assault weapon" is. Because any weapon can be used as an assault weapon, just like any other tool, including cars. Policies and laws don't stop evil people from doing evil things.
About Sandy Hook: We now know that multiple felonies, including homicide, happened prior to that mass shooting.
What we have is a people problem, not a tool problem -- because if guns kill people, pencils misspell words, cars drive drunk, and spoons make people fat.

The gun of choice they like to go after the AR-15 is a .223 caliber, a small caliber round . same as any .223 hunting rifle. Both can hold large magazines. They are hung up on AR which they believe stands for assault rifle , which it doesn't for those that don't know it stands for Armalite Rifle the company that makes it. No the are terrified of the "scary " bolt on features and the usual color of black. It is a intimidating looking weapon , but no deadlier than a wood grain hunting rifle the same caliber .

The 2nd Amendment....Im a Texas native, born and bred sir. I am 100% for the 2nd Amendment. I am not a "butter" in any capacity...one of those asshats that says "I support the 2nd Amendment but..." as soon as you say "but" everything that came before it means nothing. As a Texan I own more than im willing to admit and I won't list it here. I see it as part of ones natural right to self defense. The 2nd Amendment has fuck all to do with hunting so don't bother coming at me with that idiocy as no where in the 2nd doe sit say shit about hunting. If you wanna come along talking about the whole "well regulated" and "militia" bs look up what those phrases meant when our Constitution was drafted.....here is a hint, it doesn't mean government regulation or rules and the militia does not refer to the National Guard or the like, stop trying to apply modern definitions to non modern writings. Our President talks about you not being able to own a cannon....yes, yes you actually can. And at the time of Constitutions writing....as a civilian you could own a full on frigging war ship with multiple cannons...so just stop. My outlook may not match everyone else's and that is fine, I have no ill will towards anyone who feels otherwise and ill not even attempt to force them to own a firearm. But somehow its WAAYYYY too much to ask that those same people respect my rights and stop trying to curtail them further than they already have been. I am sorry but you arent going to stop crime by targeting the people who aren't committing crimes, start enforcing the over 2200 guns laws we have on the books now, stop trying to create more, start going after criminals and stop screwing with regular law abiding people. Don't like this point of view? Tough....cope with it
Also please do not use the term "assault weapon", its a made up term used to evoke a negative connotation regarding firearms in people who know very little about firearms. Now an assault RIFLE is a real thing and by definition is a rifle that is select fire meaning a machine gun that goes full auto or burst mode (simplifying here). Our media, politicians, antigun people, president etc make it seem like we can walk into a gun store or a gun show and just buy one of these things for like $100 bucks and walk out...no...no you can't. Let's say you want an M16, yes its legal, let's say your local Class 3 FFL has one in stock and you want it! First off it will be no newer than 1986 (speaking civilian transferable here not dealer samples etc) so the gunnis nearly 40 years old. Second that gun is not cheap you will be looking at spending around $25,000 on the low end here. Once you can come up with that cash you now gotta submit your tax stamp paperwork to the ATF. So thats finger prints, passport photos a $200 nonrefundable check or money order. Then you must wait 6 months to a year or more while the ATF does their job. Meanwhile you've shelled out a down payment on a house in some areas and you have nothing to show for it. We can also touch on how gun laws actually work, criminals don't buy from gun shows and the gun show loophole is a myth etc etc. But I don't have enough time and possibly space here to do it.

Government's often left led ones have been trying to get assault weapons into the hands of the citizens to hold of the invasion, and it is a big part of why they are still holding out. This should show people there is value to use assault weapons even to stop equipped armies. If Ukraine wins the armed citizenry will be a big part of why they held out.

The 2nd big problem is how little the ones arguing to get more laws passed on the subject of guns, is how little they actually know about them. The two most irritating interview/debate holders debating each other? This is a treat.
I’m not going to watch it. But knowing it happened is a treat.

Keep it up. Love your take on Shapiro.
Try watching a short from Timcast IRL. Great info and a daily requirement for me.

I see the Jordan Peterson shining through you. lol
Pointing out the flaw of using an individually quantified notion of "Good and Bad" to merit the all encompassing worth of a person...
Perspective matters! It was good to point out that disparity. 👍
Shapiro is smart, but he's a sharpshooter, he made his name being brash and poignant. He could reasonably argue his way around through just about conversation.
I wound up following Peterson after discovering Shapiro, because I enjoy how incredibly analytical and sparingly political he was. He could argue his way around BOTH sides of a conversation, even picking apart objectively what he even personally believes! lol
The fundamental that matters most is truth, but as we know, each person is also gifted with their own perversion of the definite narrative. Commonly speaking, the more we believe "our truth", the less we tend to test the facts against ourselves.

You did good. Better than me. Thank you for showing this though. We all need to see what happens when closed minds enter a conversation.

Morgan was going to bring a child out from Sandy Hook(I think), but before Ben went out to speak of him he found this out, when he confronted Morgan with the sandy hook graves statement, Morgan decided not to bring the child out.

You should watch Ben's Sunday specials with liberal guests. They are much more cordial and productive. Gives you a good idea of who Ben is.

LOL! That's a funny intro, because people on the left don't make arguments, they make accusations! :) They don't want to hear or participate in debates of any kind for the most part, so that's probably why the right side sounds like it's making more waves and generating more hate at the moment, because nobody is standing up and actually countering their points!
(Just to be clear, I'm not for either side of the isle, this is just something I've noticed as I've been searching for actual open, honest debates that prove the left's points, and that are not filled with people angrily interrupting each other and dismissing their opponents as morons without making ANY actual points on the topic. :P )
