You can just about see me start losing the plot, but genuine question guys: what type of weather do you prefer camping out in and why? Would appreciate the feedback, thanks x
I prefer the colder months of the year. Call me crazy! I love being out in the elements, nothing beats hearing the downpour of rain outside whilst your all snuggled up in the tent or hammock. Devilla forest is a 10 min drive from me and yet I've still not camped here! Great wee vid as always. As someone who also struggles with mental health, getting out in nature definitely helps! 1 day at a time Monty. ATB, Chris 🏕️😁
Same here prefer it a bit colder rain through the night but hate packing away wet gear and hate the drying process even more so I tend to avoid prolonged rain spells
@@chrisstuart5080 Chris, we can be crazy together. Winter camps are the best, a freezing camp is needed along with the therapeutic noises of the rain and snow. I'd recommend the Devilla Forest mate. Always modestly quiet when I'm there and plenty of spots. And thanks mate, hope it works wonders for you. All the best and take care.
What a beautiful pine forest. I can just smell it from here! Great idea to bring the tarp so you are covered in the rain. That's my kind of dinner right there, looked really good. On the east coast of the US, spring and fall are my fav times of the year to camp. Cooler nights and just a chill in the air during the day. Just got back from a brutally hot camping trip with no breeze and just sweated in my tent all night. Not fun. Nice Video Monty!
Thanks for your input, massively appreciated! And I'm with you 100% with cooler nights - although I prefer a freezing one - as there is nothing worse than being trapped in a tent with heat building up. Although where I'm from me hardly get above 20c, I can only imagine what it's like for you... 😂 Hope you are well and thanks for popping by as usual. Unsung hero!
My ideal camp would be a mixture of weather, dry during the evening for stargazing and rain through the night 😀 I also love to pitch up, make coffee and sit watching the rain 😀
@@MontyOutdoors thank you for replying!! I'm out testing my new tent tonight. For Christmas I had one of the camping mats you used - I can't spell it - Eduomey I think, so looking forward to trying that tonight 😀
I like cooler months, as fewer bugs, snakes, and bears. The views can be better with no leaves, and the chill brings a certain excitement, like a puppy in his first snow.
Winter months are my favourite for those reasons alone, especially the no bugs. And it's more testing and I love snow! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Bill!
I like it to be dry during the day but a little rain and wind at night is perfect, if it’s to quiet and still I get spooked by all the little noises at night and my imagination runs riot !
Mate.... same! I've on 2 occasions packed up and went home at night due to how calm it was and the impact it has had on my anxiety. But thanks for your input and I hope you are well :).
Fished a wee loch there in 82. Had a pipe across it with jets of water squirting out creating a flow. Looking at maps and google I can't see it now. Might have to head down with a tent and find it. Great vid. Loved the rant about rain. More of that kind of stuff please. I like all conditions providing you have the right kit for them.
I've only been to the area where the house is and where I camped, but I think I do recall ruined pipes distributed across the area. Not sure. I have another video on this spot as well which might show it. Glad you enjoyed it though, mate. And I finally got a heavy rain camp, but my mood was low and not in video mode lol. Hope you are well and thanks for watching and commenting, sir!
Thanks for your input! Do you think the rain helps you sleep? For me and others it turns out to be very stress reliving when doing solo camps. Hope you are well and out this weekend.
@@MontyOutdoors Iv never done a solo camp as honestly don’t think I could settle, I do find the sound of the rain therapeutic though! It would probably help me actually as I’d be more listening to the rain than any sounds around me.
Nice chilled out camp, Monty👍 I think you hit on a great point why some of us prefer dry weather. Up there you can just set your tent up no bother. Down in the less enlightened parts of the UK we've got to hang around until dusk. If it's raining, that can be a right pain in the @rse! 😁 All the best & look after yourself buddy👍
Yeah, I'm coming across as pretty privileged here and no doubt riled some of my rUK audience! Hope you and those close to you are doing well too mate. Will catch up on your channel shortly.
@@MontyOutdoors If you make better laws for yourselves, you've every right to feel privileged! 😁 We're still under the yoke of the landowners down here!
For lower level camps rain and wind. For the higher up camps on hills a clear view is all I want nothing else. Look forward to our next camp up Ben Ledi. Hope you’re feeling better👍
Feeling better mate, but will definitely be up for Ben Ledi no matter, what. My last summit camp with you was the best. I say we get up earlier next time so we can just chill more. What's the date again?
To be honest, that's probably the same as me, however... I don't mind packing up in the rain as my camping cupboard has a heater in it and everything gets cleaned/dried out when I go home anyway. I love being wet. Like a dug cuttin' through a puddle. Hope you're well big man!
Thanks for your input, sir. Really LOVING everyone's sequences and the detail they are putting into it. Hope you are well, mate. Taking another little break from camping, so will be back shortly!
Rainy day and night time camping, The best part camping video is NOT when you build the tent or shelter, not when you make a coffee or cooking even when you carving something, it's not. The best part of camping video is when you relaxing, enjoy the view and nature sounds, and when night comes with campfire. Don't talk to much but share your life experience with viewers. Sometimes viewers will attached to you when you touch them with life experience that shared beside the night campfire. Try it friend, I support you from my 15th chemotherapy treatment. Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia 🇮🇩
Hey man. Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay. Appreciate the patience. Crippling anxiety! I completely get where you are coming from. For me it all depends on my mood. Sometimes my favourite part is setting up, sometimes it's making food, other times it's around the fire. Generally it is the relaxing part, but being constantly occupied stops my mind from wandering into sinister thoughts, so quite often I just love being busy. Camping is weird like that. I wish you well in future, mate. All the best with your chemotherapy. Monty.
@@MontyOutdoors undecided mate i might go around towards the strachur side this time but not to sure, quite handy for me as i only live a 15 minute drive away

Having spent some wet nights camping - I prefer a nice dry camp. sometimes its unavoidable especially in the Lake District when the weather can change by the hour.
It used to be like that in Scotland, mate, but it's been dry for too long! I've only had one poor night from a wet, cold camp, but that's because I forgot my thermals... doh! Won't do that again. Thanks for your input, Terry, always interested to know what others think. Appreciate it massively when you pop by and watch!
I enjoyed the video alot. I also enjoy the sound of the rain 🌧 on the tent ⛺ It puts me to sleep alot quicker but my favorite weather is when the snow is falling.

Rain at night, rain in the evening, rain in the afternoon, and rain in the morning for me lol. And thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. You out this weekend? I'm taking a wee break again.
Well done Monty for plucking up the courage to get back out there, it`s good to see you back out again. For me personally i find it very comforting and relaxing when hearing wind ,rain or snow while in the safety of a well pitched tent.I think that it`s a throwback to the hunter gatherer in us, the need to protect against the elements by providing a shelter of some sorts. The fact that your outdoors and away from amenities seems to amplify the effect....it`s wonderful feels to me. ATB
Thanks Graeme, but I sadly ended up back home later due to a panic attack. I think once everything settled and became quiet, my mind wandered. The rain would have helped massively and I believe the hunter gatherer is still in us too, better than lying on the couch watching TV! Thanks for popping by again, legend! And hope you are well.
@@graemesaunderson4218 Aye mate. I need company when camping. Buzzing for a solo camp as well. Maybe in the rain when there is soothing noise to keep me occupied.
Im surprised how much I love the rain, won't call it bad weather. In Norway they say bad clothing not bad weather. Sat night was extreme but I was warm and cosy under the tarp and tent, I slept well, but lessons learned. Keep things dry if they get wet its a nightmare. Another lovely well thought out vid.
See I don't have the best of clothing, but what's an absolute godsend is the tarp, which I think can do a better job than a jacket? Need a pee in the rain? Go under the tarp lol. Want to stay warm when it's raining or snowing? Fire under the tarp. But reasonable waterproof clothing is necessary, but I don't think you need the Rabs or Northfaces. Thanks for watching and dropping by again and glad you enjoyed :).
Yeah the tarp came in handy 😂😂. I don't have the best of clothing, Ive said before im limited with cost, but the right clothing is important. Also how far you walk decides the quality of product. tbh I don't have the quality to do sustainable rainfall.
Great Video Monty, especially as you are in your CP2, can't wait to use mine. As for weather, variety really is the spice of life for me. Challenging weather is more entertaining, pitting you and your gear against the elements! Very satisfying. Keep doing your videos, always look forward to watching each new one 😊👍
I like the CP2 mate. Just disappointed mines is a fault. Not had a chance to test it in the wind or rain yet, but hopefully you'll see that video soon. And thanks for your input mate, loved it. Till next time 😀
@@MontyOutdoors I'd stitch a tab on myself, or get an expert on the case. Nice chilled out camp, Monty👍 I think you hit on a great point why some of us prefer dry weather. Up there you can just set your tent up no bother. Rainy day and night time camping,
The best part camping video is NOT when you build the tent or shelter, not when you make a coffee or cooking even when you carving something, it's not.

@@MontyOutdoors I peed under the tarp in crazy rainfall at the weekend lol couldnt see 2 foot infront of me🏕

Awwww thanks, guys! I was 105kg around this time last year and now I'm 82kg. So it's like around 4 stone I've lost. Thanks so much for that comment, as me and body positivity don't get on lol. I was fighting an eating disorder and exercising harder. I started doing 3x 10kms per week, but as I said, my knee is done, so lots of walking, but it's really 85% diet. Hope you guys as well.
U shd never have a green tent in a forest or any green area .
How come if you don't mind me asking?
