The Batman is a gripping, gorgeous, and, at times, a genuinely scary psychological crime thriller that gives Bruce Wayne the grounded detective story he deserves. Robert Pattinson is great as a very broken Batman, but it's Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano who steal the show, with a movingly layered Selina Kyle/Catwoman and a terrifyingly unhinged Riddler. Writer/director Matt Reeves managed to make a Batman movie that's entirely different from the others in the live-action canon, yet surprisingly loyal to Gotham lore as a whole. Ultimately, it's one that thoroughly earns its place in this iconic character's legacy.

Got to hand it to DC, their shared universe might be mess up. But when it comes to their standalone films they create masterpiece.

DC’s high is _very very_ high, their low is very low. There's nothing in-between, either it's one of the best film you've ever seen or the worst film that makes you want to gouge your eyes out

It's almost garunteed that 'the batman' is set in the same universe as, 'the joker'
That car pursuit scene with Penguin was probably the best scene in the movie (particularly if watched in a cinema)
That was one of my favourite scenes in the movie. Along with the gun fight in the dark (which reminded me a bit of old boy a bit)
Unfortunately our cinema was a bit too silent, losing some atmosphere because of that

whole point of the movie is to show us a Batman driven by emotions rather than rationality can't you see the signs?
His parents have recently been murdered and hes lost for words and can't make the right decisions ( a scene where he gets angry against a bunch of police officials and starts to assault them is yet another proof that he is naive and is learning his motives) do you really think Batman would have gone against authorities like that? The Dark Knight and The Batman they are the standout Batman movies. Its like Year 1,and Year 2 stories.. Both are Masterpieces.
This looks like The Batman adaptation I've been waiting for, even more so than The Dark Knight. Can't wait to see Dano in Zodiac mode, and Robert's version of Batman already feels like my favorite (next to Keaton). And I've heard it's genuinely terrifying even before this review. Can't wait for this.

It's definitely my most favourite scene in the whole movie. Its monologue, directing, music, etc gave me chills!

Well, Bruce Wayne didn't start to present himself as a playboy until much later. His early years was focused more on establishing himself as Batman and someone to be feared. In other stories, he was already well established and began seeing himself as only the Batman and Bruce Wayne as the disguise. That's when he began portraying himself as a playboy and somewhat of a slacker, as Bruce Wayne.
Nolan Batman was like that, but in this version it isn't, he has ben Batman for 2 years. He isn't a detective, he isn't a playboy and he isn't a warrior, he is a dude in a mask that doesn't know what to do.

The first half of the film is legit outstanding. Towards the end though, it feels awfully rushed with a lot of the tension moments created within dispelled within minutes

Saw the movie today. The first 2 hours and 50 some odd minutes was phenomenal.
The ending was weak. Everything else- phenomenal. Pattison killed it.

In my opinion, kravitz, dano, serkis, and wright might steal the show at times, but Pattinson steals it back.

Amazing movie imo. Easily the best Batman portrayal yet, by a mile. Loved all the detective solving and the performances were great. Some action sequences were stellar too (the Batmobile one 👀).

BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIE EVER MADE.
Already watched it just a few minutes ago. And it is phenomenal and amazing. They really nailed it with the gritty and dark theme with detective noir story too. The actors and actresses are amazing in their roles. It's really awesome and can't wait for the sequel.

Masterpiece? Yeah sure, anything after the Nolan trilogy will be a step down, this movie is a 7 at it's best.
Robert's acting is awesome. But some scenes remind me of Dark Night and Dark Night Rises, which its difficult to get away from that and create new experiences.
