That's definitely a change i've noticed over the years. Back in like the Tobey McGuire Spiderman era. The actor usually would only read the comic the movie was specifically based on. The research was fairly surface level. He still did a great job and actors can still do a great job in these roles with minimal research (some would actually refuse to read the comics so they could really do their own take), but it's so amazing to see present day actors really DIVE IN head first into the deep end of the comics. Actors always talk about having meaty roles to really sink their teeth into and i'm glad they finally realize the last decade or so that comic book lore is a big fat juicy steak. The versions of the characters they can bring to the screen when they really dig in like that result in a more nuanced take on the characters, as everyone in this cast has shown.

Ikr I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I hope eventually his Bruce Wayne learns to put up an act and act like the rich, flamboyant billionaire Bruce Wayne has to pretend to be
The fact that Paul immediatly reacta to the Court of Owls theory and recommends the rest to read it says a lot! I think people are for some reason underhyped for his performance as riddler, I think he will exceed my already high expectations!
@@leonardohenrique5172 I think as an individual movie, the Batman is better But some of the actors and writing was better in TDK. And if this movie gets a trilogy, I think it will surpass the Nolan trilogy
I did not get the reactions tbh, it was the first time I saw a casting announcement and immediately thought "oh yeah that totally makes sense". I think people were mostly just unfamiliar with these two's works
I love that you can tell, not just by this video, but in the movie too, that Paul knows his Batman. Riddler has always been so egotistical that he has psychotic breaks when Batman figures out his plans, and always has the notion that “some billionaire in a tower could never outthink me” despite the answer being right in front of his face. Both were very much a part of Dano’s take
This is a good advice to every superhero movie studio out there: hire actors that are actually FANS of the characters they are supposed to play. They might end up playing them much better than you actually thought.
Paul’s voice is both creepy and soothing at the same time. He’s going to kill it as The Riddler. Edit: how tf have so many of you seen the film already

It's so wholesome to see that they're just people like us talking about the movie and wondering about the scenes they played in too. It's really wholesome.
Jeffrey Wright’s voice is very relaxing. I think he might have been the most perfect casting for Gordon. Jeffrey Wright was the best Jim Gordon so far in live action. Loved how they worked together and figuring out clues together. Gordon was one of the highlights of the film.
respectfully disagree, I thought the rest of the casting was great but the delivery on a lot of his lines seemed a bit off, and his role just seemed out of place compared to the rest of the story. But we shall see how they continue the trilogy
I liked Gary Oldman better. But then again, he *is* my favourite actor. I love Jeffrey Wright, but his Gordon didn't seem very invested in anything. He was in a lot of scenes but didn't have a lot to do. With Oldman you could really feel how he needed to rise to the occasion. But it's only the first movie. Lots of room to grow and I'm already hungry for more. Wright was still good, don't get me wrong 😉 It's just opinions anyways. Cheers, have a good one!
@@andregulick3925 Yeah, I thought he made his voice sound like he was trying to be one of the previous Batmen. But his irl voice is good and would’ve suited Gordon, so I don’t know why he did what he did.

Paul looks so kind and sweet. It always makes me sad to see him die in “There Will Be Blood.” He did such an amazing, refreshing job with the Riddler. I’m sure he studied actually sociopaths because he did it so well.
He actually did lol, you know him well ! I saw in an interview that he's read Mindhunter, and a lot about trauma. He also did some research about online forums of incels / toxic masculinity
You can tell, the way he yells when things go wrong for him make me think the riddler is almost mentally I’ll because of the poor conditions of the orphanage. It was really interesting, and it fits the riddler character well because for him to be obsessed with puzzles he always did this to enjoy something through his awful upbringing. It was actually a new fresh take in a movie, but not one that ruins it. That is very rare to see on movies now.
The fact that Rob really reads all of our comments on all Internet platforms is actually embarrassing, since so many people mocked his casting (not me, I've known that he was a phenomenal actor for years, and Lighthouse was amazing) and even lashed out at him. Yikes. Then again, Rob must have the biggest grin right now, because even his last doubters have been silenced and are eating crow. Touché, Rob.
Rob is the best Batman. Period. What makes it better is how much he knows about the character, which shows in his very comic-accurate portrayal. Also, Paul Dano is also very knowledgeable about his own, and other, character(s). It really shows his passion for the role, which is why it was so good. He is also writing a comic book about Riddler in his early years, so I’m thrilled.
Paul Dano's Riddler might possibly end up being one of my top 5 favourite comic villain portrayals in a film. So excited and I hope this gets him more exposure because he's an amazing actor.
They could have easily turned their noses up at some of these fan theories, but fair play to Paul, Zoë, Robert and Jeffrey for getting stuck into them.
Love how much rob wants the court of owls as the sequel villain, id love to see that also theyd fit perfectly in the reeves verse. I think Azrael would fit really well also
The funniest part of the video is when Paul Dano and Rob are fanboying over the court of owls and then Zoe’s there just confused about what they’re talking about and is just silent.
I feel like Robert's accent is back to its original thickness, maybe because he had time to be back and stay in London for a long period of times during the pandemic. Or is it just me? And he nailed the batman voice. Never doubted him cause his accent game always been phenomenal imo, I mean the lighthouse, good time, the king.. and the way he said TxC here was so cute.
Robert & Zoe were brilliant in The Batman, but Paul..... Somebody PLEASE give this genuis an Oscar already! So I can finally get some sleep tonight 😴🤩🏆
I don't know why, maybe it's because of the type of characters he plays, but I never expected Paul Dano to be such a cool and laid back guy. The guy also konws Batman very well.
I love that they're actual fans of the comic book and find enjoyment and theorizing what could potentially be in this Batman universe just as much as we do.

The most fun to see Robert and Paul be like the experts and fans of Batman, which is also fun for their chemistry with Zoe and Jeffrey.
Seeing the real Paul Dano just being a regular and cool guy makes it so much more impressive and terrifying seeing him as the Riddler in the film.
I loved Paul’s quip about the nine lives being nine different personas for survival. Really cool take on cat woman in this movie
The fact that Paul immediatly reacta to the Court of Owls theory and recommends the rest to read it says a lot! I think people are for some reason underhyped for his performance as riddler, I think he will exceed my already high expectations!
I saw the movie. The guy was amazing as Riddler. He is an incredible actor.
He was the best part of the movie. Second best DC villain ever, after Heath Ledger.

I remember when people reacted poorly to the Batman and Catwoman castings. I'm glad Robert and Zoe will prove those people wrong!
I never understood the hate they received, especially for Robert. The guy does as the script demands him to. How is that his fault?

I find it absolutely charming how friendly they are with one another
I love that you can tell, not just by this video, but in the movie too, that Paul knows his Batman.
Kinda hard tho

The fact that Rob has built a batman around fan theories that actually make sense makes him the perfect batman
Jeffrey as jim gordon was amazing!! They all were amazing.
