Oh shit. Wellll time for some headcannon on why he looks the way he does! Barry's Joker is confirmed to have his signature smile due to some kind of birth defect, but the director never said anything in regards to his burns or how the rest of his body is all messed up. So here's my headcannon, Joker is caught up in some kind of chemical related accident, probably gas since it's unlikely he'd survive being dunked in acid. So Joker is exposed to a burning gas, and his entire body is disfigured by it, covering him in blisters and scars. The Joker is locked up in Arkham Asylum shortly afterward, having been arrested at the scene. He is sent to his cell, where he remains for some undisclosed amount of time, when Batman shows up to question him about the Riddler. Joker hands him his file, and Batman takes it, only he snuck out one of his paperclips with it. The Joker uses it to pick his way put, where he'll be used for a little bit in the sequel before returning to his cell, commanding from within his confinement.

I think he’ll be one of the best Jokers we’ve seen but if this scene was in the movie it wouldve stolen a lot from the movie itself. It’s a great teaser/sneak peek into what we’ll see in the future but it 100% wouldve taken a lot away from Dano’s Riddler which I think was awesome to watch. I love Batman but without the villains Batman is just Batman, needs great villains that need good development and I think this scene leads up to that very well
Most people would dismiss this scene as just nonsense being flung by the Joker at Batman but every single word he said was 100% true. He explained the nature of the Riddler with perfection. He was also right about Batman. This was a younger Batman who called himself vengeance. He wanted criminals to fear him. He wanted them scared shitless that he may be coming for them next. The Joker knows this so he used this meeting to get at Batman's sense of identity and self-worth because he hasn't caught the Riddler and people are dying in gruesome ways. He's afraid criminals will see him as weak and maybe they don't need to worry about Batman. The Joker gave him a psych evaluation that was on the nose for both Batman and the Riddler. All within a minute of looking at a few pictures of the crime scenes. They don't give the Joker the credit he deserves. Guy is absolutely insane, scary as hell and most importantly he's highly intelligent.
You said it better than any Batman movie director. Legit statements made. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Well put for real. This deleted scene should’ve been used too. It could’ve been a foundation that the producers and whatnot could’ve branched off of. I hope they do but won’t get my hopes up. Too many of the new generation drooled over the “joker” movie that came out recently. I fear that nothing will come of this due to that. Sadly, they deleted this scene for a reason. Prob because of the hype and likes for the joker shit they put out recently. We need and deserve a legit version of Batman that is as dark as the comics were. So many malicious villains that do not get used. I apologize for the ramble, but your comment made my day.
I really like how the Batman and Joker are shot in this scene. Joker is blurred out for most of it, whereas Batman can be seen clearly. It's showing us that Joker is hard to read, but also that Joker can read Batman without issue.
It also adds to this disturbing feeling to this joker. The way his voice and speaking is somewhat muffled and effected both by the glass and his face adds to how messed up he looks. The Make up Department for this universe is unreal.
@@iepic32gI'm not familiar with this Joker from the comics. This is really a messed up person.I don't see him pulling out a card or this or that.If he steps out and is face to face with a character like Penguin the Penguin will have him killed or do it himself.
He actually looks like someone who's been dropped in acid. It's always some weird perfect chemical that just turns them into clowns in so many iterations. This one feels so real its horrific. Like the clown make up is just a distraction or accent to his horrific disfigurement. I hope we see more of this one.
@@jeanlukvolker6647 Maybe that was the initial plan until they realized that they want batman and the joker's confrontation to happen on-screen and joker is now caught but willingly?
@@chrisjauregui814 More common ones are "ahead of the pack," "ahead of the rest," etc. "Ahead of the curve" is less common and only ever associated with Ledger's Joker in popular culture.
I’m surprised no one has pointed out the line about Riddler being a fan of Batman or that he’s the main course. He’s right in both regards cos Riddler loves Batman and hates Bruce Wayne.
@@5432y Unfortunately it is two separate actors and the time periods wouldn't make sense. This Joker looks like hes in his thirties while the movie takes place during Halloween - November of 2021 while Joker 1 and 2 take place during 1981-1983
Dude the "detective" batman up against an "intelligent" joker would be amazing. People forget or aren't aware that he is super smart, might be an actual genius. Also the influence of ledger is very clear.
It's just how people talk naturally. The animated versions of Joker showcased more of the theatrical aspects of his persona, this is the personal, twisted part of him that 'needs' Batman so much that he drops a part of it for him. It's why the interrogation scene in Dark Knight was the best scene of the whole movie.
Man, this joker has massive potential, he really played the role of the psychiatrist in this scene. This version of Batman is indeed intelligent, most comic book accurate in terms of improvising and being a detective, but damn Joker was objectively spot on, especially when he said Batman believes the riddler's victims deserved it.
SUCH a good Joker, but I can understand why he was cut. He seems to show up right around the “DRIVE” puzzle, putting him probably very early into the movie. And, in all honesty, he kind of gives away almost all the answers to the movie when it comes to the Batman and the Riddler, instead of letting both parties (and the audience) discover it naturally through the puzzles and their interactions. It’d be great to see more of him from behind the glass again, I think the concept of this scene is ripe for execution in a future movie, and I love the idea of him talking with Batman AFTER he’s been caught, almost like a resource for him from inside of Arkham.
Agreed. As well, it would have taken focus off the narrative of the movie as people would have only went on about this one scene. I remember the ARG being the reason this scene was even found. Reeves knows exactly what he was doing. Same with The Penguin series hinting at Batman at the very last shot of the show with the Batsignal. Focus on the narrative, not one single piece of what would be considered fan service in a way.
Fr it was kind of chill how he didnt joke (pun not intended) about riddler’s motives or refuse to give Batman answers, he was straight up and in an intelligent way. I love their bond
He's right. The Batman hasn't gained the empathy or tolerance for wrong yet. He just values his morals. I'm sure they will be tested in this next film, just as his recognition between fighting for vengance and fighting for justice.
At first I was I thinking they should do other villains besides the joker because he’s been done so much but after seeing this terrifying version, I kinda want to see more.
@@Jjw338 i think it adds to his character quite well, a character who is a paradox in every sense of the word being comprehensible but also not is quite a terrifying contrast.
Maybe for the 3rd film where it can be revealed he's been planning some master plan from the beginning. Or maybe he's a recurring character throughout the trilogy? But yeah, if this is our new Joker, I'm thinking he's gonna give Heath Ledger's a run for his money.
This scene really shows just how scarily intuitive the Joker is. Just with a few glances at the case file, he's already deducted not just the identity and motive of the Riddler, but also of Batman's. Nothing specific like their names, but their inner nature and why they do the things they do. He can get inside of people's heads without even trying. It's terrifying. "Maybe he's a fan of yours?" Referring to the relationship between the Riddler and Batman. "Or maybe he's got a grudge against you too. Maybe you're the main course." Referring to the Riddler's resentment against Bruce Wayne and the Wayne family for failing to make any positive change in Gotham. "I think somewhere deep down, you're just terrified, 'cause you're not sure he's wrong." He already figures out exactly why Batman visited him. He's in control. Batman is trying to play it cool and keep a straight face, but the Joker can see right through his facade. Batman is mentally shitting bricks in that moment.
i absolutely loved that part so much…it really captures batman and jokers relationship so well, i hope we get future scenes just like this, this interrogation was great, i loved it, i actually hope in the future movies we can get a scene just like this but more intense
Batman’s cold stares never changed. But you could still tell he was clearly bothered by what Joker said to him. That’s why he immediately shut down Joker with “let’s get back to him” and stormed off soon after. He wasn’t comfortable with what he heard. The truth might have even scared him - knowing this serial killer and him were almost one and the same - and he couldn’t take anymore, all the while Joker got the kicks he wanted out of getting under his skin.
This scene is simply genius as it portrays the perfect dance between Batman and the Joker. He is so deep in his psyche that he can tell Batman his deepest secrets and make fun of him because of it right to his face
It pains me to agree with this as an MCU boy. Everything since no way home has been garbage. They should have taken 2 years off after endgame and built anticipation

@kelran9338 I think you're right, the movie made a point to show this batman as being an insanely good detective and figuring out connections way quicker then anyone around him. This scene does kind of take that away, as good as it is. Plus they might want to hold on to exploring the dark side of Bruce's true intentions more in the next movie instead.
Now this is a Joker. Wow! Completely psychotic and terrifying. Now I know we have seen the Joker a lot but I would love to see this one. This guy did a fantastic job portraying his Joker.
It owes a lot to Ledger's version, but does seem to grow beyond it. One can imagine the Dark Knight Joker becoming a bit more unhinged, if he'd been rotting away in his cell like Hannibal Lecter for a few years..

I love this as a little homage to Will Graham and Clarice Starling’s visits to Hannibal in the first two Hannibal novels. Some even greater evil who can advise the hero on how to deal with the evil they’re currently facing.
Yeah, especially the part where Batman turns his back on the Joker, waiting to get out. It's very similar to the moment in Manhunter/Red Dragon where Will uncomfortably turns away from Lecter as he keeps talking, anxious to get out of there.
So many lines are almost identical in word or meaning to silence and dragon - wanting to know how the killer thinks, can I have pictures, what makes you think I’ll help, I thought you’d be curious, talking about the killer like a boy, talking about the killer being ambitious, have you read the case file, wait come back
Proof that being intelligent is more akin to being predatory in nature! Just like in actual human history the most evil and cruel humans to exist were if the most highly intelligent!
God every camera shot in this movie is just perfection. This universe really just feels on another level compared to literally any other comic book film. Hell, this movie is better looking than most movies, period.
I think Christopher Nolan and Matt Reeves are the only two directors to portray The Joker’s intelligence. For however insane The Joker is his intelligence makes up for it. The way he uses words like “Baroque“ or “meticulous” and is able to read Batman even when he’s wearing his mask an tell he’s angry suggests maybe he derived from an academic background but due to his deformity became secluded and read a lot, studied but driven insane by normal people around him. Society was The Vat of Acid and The Joker was thrown into it.
Mostly yeah, but I disagree with the implication that using a four-syllable word is indicative of his intelligence. Hell, I could utilize any aggregate of quadrisyllabic or even multisyllabic morphemes more or less accurately with the intention of insinuating that I am a perspicacious individual. I don’t think that means I’m smart tho, just means I know some big words. Joker’s real intelligence here is displayed, as you said, in his ability to read people, to learn everything about a person based on what little information or cues he’s given.
The worst thing about this being cut is that its absence makes the Joker scene at the end super cringey - whereas, if this had been in the film, the viewer would have more context for the character and performance, so his dialogue at the end wouldn’t feel as tryhard and on-the-nose.
@@Buskeeeeeeeetotally agree. I cringed in the theater at it. But I’ve watched this a couple times now and I actually am kinda digging it. Everyone seems to copy Ledger as close as they can it feels like but he doesn’t seem like he’s copying anymore as much as inspired by? Idk

I like how they showed the similarities between Batman and his rogue's gallery in this film, even the opening seemed like it was Batman watching the corrupt Mayor before it was revealed to be Riddler hiding in the shadows.
What an intelligent dialogue. The two HAVE to meet. But this joker is not for the streets. This is a master puppeteer, and the GPD is hopelessly overmatched. To deal with it requires strategic thinking on Batman's part, but this Joker is not an easy opponent, it's more like a final boss of sorts
What I LOVE about this Joker…no other movie had done it this way, it’s a stamp to this Batman world. His look, his laugh, unique and not trying to be another Heath (Not Possible) I look and listen to this Joker and feel like he has no limit to his madness, and the more disturbing the better he feels about!
This was brilliant. Seems like the Joker and Batman have already had run ins, even though the Batman had only been the Batman for 2 years. Incredibly interested to see what they do from here.
This scene just goes to show how intelligent Joker is under that facade he wears. That is why people don't take him seriously because they look at his outward appearance and think he is just crazy and all talk.
He read Bruce like an open book. The fact that Batman went to The Joker for criminal insight, to know Riddler's motives, he's more intelligent here ig. Maybe they'll expand on that in a sequel.
This scene was so well done and was interesting to see them have the Joker as Batman's Hannibal Lecter whom he comes to when he needs help understanding the mind of another mad man. And making the Joker's face all blurred was a nice touch. That pretty much sums up Joker, he's all smoke and mirrors, no definitive backstory or origin. A truly great scene, excited to see more of Barry Keoghan's Joker.
This is a different joker, this one feels like a direct opposite of batman, opposing morals, similar knowledge, and the way joker reads batman like a childrens book is epic. He can almost tell batman somewhat knows the joker has a point. This joker feels like a final boss, i cant wait to see how hes used later on.
I love this for a multitude of reasons. Joker is actually terrifying. He can't be made into some weirdly toxic sex symbol for women. And his appearance matches his level of evil.
Why can’t he? Do you think that makes it less realistic? Have you ever heard of the serial killer Richard Ramirez? The amount of fan mail he got after his capture was nauseating. What makes evil its most potent and most dangerous is when a lot of people are seduced by it.
@johnnyringo2695 I don't have an issue with it 🤣 if it's for you, by all means enjoy it. I'm just saying I enjoy the change up. Nothing against past depiction except for Leto.
As much as I do love Ledger's portrayal, THIS is how the Joker should be. He's completely inhuman, both in behavior and appearance. The mere sight of his face should terrify anyone who gazes upon it.

I really love how they portrayed the intelligence of both Batman & Joker here. Most movies that portray intelligent characters only show the theatrics of the smart guy showing off their smarts but don’t show the process of them putting together their plan, the homework that goes into their success.
Respectfully so not spellchecking Spanish is showing high levels of intelligence? Is blowing up the entire ceiling sending huge chunks of glass shards down upon the fleeing civilians showing high levels of intelligence? Are we going to keep using the year two Batman excuse as part of or as the whole answer to these questions?
I like how that’s literally exactly what happens in this scene. This is a lot of fluff that really doesn’t add much. It means a lot to long standing fans of Batman and Joker who like to put their own interpretations on new portrayals. If these were two random no name characters it would be a really boring scene. What plan? The plan where Riddler kills everyone he wants, even Falcone and half the city right in front of Batman? The plan where Batman has no clue what to do without a super computer contact and a cop who has a carpenter brother? This Batman who legitimately fails at everything beat this Joker already, apparently when he was even LESS experienced, and somehow the goddamn Riddler is giving him so much trouble? This Joker has to be truly pathetic to lose to a Batman even younger and less experienced than the wannabe that was portrayed in this movie. Batman doesn’t have to be perfect, he can fail…but the man dedicated his entire adolescence to being the perfect version of himself. A year or two in he should be able to stop the goddamn Riddler. He should be able to disarm a bomb around a guy’s neck five feet away. There’s a difference between doing your job while making some mistakes and failing entirely at your job to the point any other random untrained person would’ve had the same effect. Batman has things happen to him in this movie, only towards the very end does he actually contribute anything

I don’t know how you can like this take of the joker . Barry sounds like a wannabe joker . Laugh and demeanor as joker is terrible hope it’s recasted with someone who can portray a decent joker
More likely the reason why they decided not to use this scene is because it was too reminiscent of the scene in Silence of the Lambs where Agent Sterling solicits help from Hannibal profiling Buffalo Bill. Even the dialog between the two scenes is dangerously similar.

I really wish this was kept in. I know they probably removed it since Joker always takes the spotlight in any film he's in, plus the movie was already quite long. But this is seriously a fantastic scene. I love the concept of Batman coming to Joker for his perspective on a killer's motives. Shows great chemistry between the two even this early in their careers.
You can tell this version of Joker really knows how to read people and get in their heads. Batman goes to him and specifically says that he wants to know how the riddler thinks. The joker immediately understands what's driving the Riddler. It also shows his obsession with Batman because he continuously flips it on him and analyzes him instead of the riddler, to the point where Batman leaves. Needless to say, I absolutely love how they're doing this Joker, and I can already see how he'll be able to manipulate harley quinn and others
All the core qualities of the Joker while also being a completely original take on the Joker. I hope they slowly build to him over time instead of having him be the big threat sooner, he should be a background character for the time let Batman grow and develop and then when he comes into the picture it will truly test him mentally. Great quote from Arkham Origins when he first starts dealing with the Joker: “I’ve dealt with psychopaths before, but this is…”
I feel like Barry is trying to imitate the best version of the joker we have ever had (heath ledger) and mixing it with his own style. Towards the end of the scene he was doing some heath did throughout dark knight where he would go from laughter , to whispering menacingly to talking at a normal volume and switching from there. I also like that whenever we get this version of the joker he will at least look like he’s been in acid
What i love about each new cinematic Joker is that it is always a new interpretation of the character. They all have their necessary similarities but they are all distinct in both appearance and personality. Ledger's Joker is chaotic and methodical, Phoenix's Joker is playful and impulsive and this one seems contemplative and haunted.
This is an incredible scene on so many levels. One of those, for me, is how the Joker has such a deep understanding of Psychology that he can under Batman’s skin.
for anyone that missed it. when he hands him the folder there's 4 papers clips on it. when he grabs it back there's only 3. Will be seeing him soon!

It could’ve been a foundation that the producers and whatnot could’ve branched off of. I hope they do but won’t get my hopes up. Wow great take I’ve never heard before. Love that!

It's just how people talk naturally.
@@chillz4115 I’m pretty sure we’d be able to understand him if the audio mixing wasn’t horrendous in this scene.

Agree. There's Hannibal vibes fr
Manhunter/Red Dragon did it much better.

Q: Matt reeves. Can we trust him?
A: FUCK YESSSS
i definitely trust matt reeves, just look at the ape movies he created, they’re awesome
If you watch batman begins and the dark knight before The Batman , it works pretty well
Mmmmm....quite, pedestrian and pedantic, yes
IMO, I would have said Society is the Vat of acid, and the red hood(John Doe) was thrown into it making the Joker, but hey, a man can dream.
I think Mark Hamill's joker is super intelligent too but that's cartoon.
The worst thing about this being cut is that its absence makes the Joker scene at the end super cringey - whereas, if this had been in the film, the viewer would have more context for the character and performance, so his dialogue at the end wouldn’t feel as tryhard and on-the-nose.

As much as I do love Ledger's portrayal, THIS is how the Joker should be. He's completely inhuman, both in behavior and appearance. The mere sight of his face should terrify anyone who gazes upon it.
Ledger was like the guy from A Clock Work Orange if he had a military/intelligence background and a chip on his shoulder.
“Actions speak louder than words”? “Show don’t tell”? If some goofy generic lines in bad prosthetics and a knockoff voice feel “pure evil” and “terrifying” to you, don’t go to spirit Halloween bro, you genuinely might have a heart attack
@@bigblue207 wooow, same shit i can say about Ledger’s version. Same generic lines, same goofy voice, but every fanboy’s been pissin in their pants every damn time they see him. It’s not about what’s he really is, it’s about how he feels like. Different actor, different acting. Something new, that’s all.
Amazing! Nothing short of incredible! The interrogation scenes are pivotal to the Batman mythos! Chef's Kiss!
Seriously! This version of Joker is no joke. Although Heath Ledger is lauded as the best Joker to date. This one looks like he could just kill you and not miss a heartbeat! Will be interesting to see if and how he maybe introduced into the Reeve universe.
Personal same people make me want to back ? When he's waiting for a meal tell me ? What does he want 😳 what do people say he's always telling me things ok jeezus your interesting find me something a file jokers got the citrus

This could legitimately go down as the greatest Batman/joker duo ever, we just need more
An their is still another movie after the Batman 2 ! This will be the greatest duo because Bale and ledger only made one film together
I have to say, I really like Robert Patterson's Batman! The guy has some serious acting chops!

Joker and Batman are like two sides of a coin. Both born on the same night. I really like this Joker. Hes smart just like Batman the way he can read Batman with his mask on is impressive and knows what buttons to push to make him mad. I like the music and the dark grittiness of this Gotham City and Arkham. Definitely would like to see the rest of the Rogue's Gallery set in this world. 🦇 🃏
There like girls they brandish light
he is one of the only one who knows who he really is and NEVER tells anyone, but terrorizes BOTH.. hes a literally sadist
The Bat and the Joker have always been the sides of two-face’s coin.
They weren’t born the same night! The joker birthed the bat when Joker killed Bruce’s parents! Then the Bruce birthed the joker when the bat killed off the last shred of Jokers humanity!
It’s representing causation! All actions have consequences!
I don’t know how you can like this take of the joker . Barry sounds like a wannabe joker . Laugh and demeanor as joker is terrible hope it’s recasted with someone who can portray a decent joker
It’s so refreshing to see a Batman that’s actually a detective instead of just a UFC fighter with a grappling hook.
BRO PLAYED IT PERFECTLY
This definitely should have made the final cut
Man this scene is terrifying! I would have loved to see this in the movie.
they scrapped it because he was imitating heath ledgers style in the interview
@@monkadelic13 don't be a sourpuss. He's good. unlike that hack Jesse that is confused about what character role he is playing.
More likely the reason why they decided not to use this scene is because it was too reminiscent of the scene in Silence of the Lambs where Agent Sterling solicits help from Hannibal profiling Buffalo Bill. Even the dialog between the two scenes is dangerously similar.
as far as im concerned it is and deleated scenes are up to the audeance to say if its canon or not exra snipbits its why they left it as a deleated scene so it could slip through the cracks as canon by plead of the fans, and idk if wer even getting a sequal or any more dc stuff cus gunn is too slow at this and its not getting any love anytime soon so lets just say this did happen!
@@secretguy1013 the scene is definitely canon, joker literally manipulates/befriends riddler at the end with the help from batman's file
That laugh was chilling, a staple of the character for me is that he thinks everything that seems so deranged is hilarious. I would love a Jason Todd storyline with this Joker
Really has my interest now to see more of this joker
this might be the best deleted sscene, ever.
I like this version of a relationship between Batman and Joker. Kind of makes sense. Batman never kills Joker bc Joker is some kind of mirror for him.
batman asking the joker for help is so silence of the lambs
The joker is one one of the dopest villains ever made
A reason why I love the Joker Deleted scene from the new Batman movie is…cuz I’m a huge fan of the Joker.
Dude are you like 5?
I was.
@@nateingieamazing work. Im not even sure if you meant for this to be bait but you caught one hell of a whale there. Ima go ahead and harpoon it now. 4 months later. Call me Ishmael.
i like that we have this scene. it’s very well done. i’m just glad it wasn’t in the movie because he would of taken away from riddler. they handled it right with him only showing up at the end
They should definitely make this guy the main nemesis in the 3rd film in this Batman series
Yeah like a final showdown or smth
I hope there will be at least 3 more Batman films in this saga. I definitely want to see new villains & have Joker be saved for the final chapter.
@@davidchittick6783you...you know what a trilogy is right?

Good call, sir.
Okay, that laugh at 1:44, Awesome and creepy.
Notice how when he hands the files over there’s 3 paper clips but when he hands it back there’s 2 I like the little details good work👍
Arkham security so light all it takes is a paper clip to slip loose
@JR-ms2kd with a paper clip, you can slip out of hand cuffs. Watch for it in the next movie.
All the core qualities of the Joker while also being a completely original take on the Joker. I hope they slowly build to him over time instead of having him be the big threat sooner, he should be a background character for the time let Batman grow and develop and then when he comes into the picture it will truly test him mentally. Great quote from Arkham Origins when he first starts dealing with the Joker: “I’ve dealt with psychopaths before, but this is…”
Note how the paperclip is gone when he gives the file back (the one on the side)
holy shit i’ve seen this clip probably 10 times now and never noticed, good eye
Really hope we see more of this Joker in the future. Hes terrifying. 😮
I just can’t get over the fact that this joker sounds like a teenager with a lisp😂
I think the lisp comes with the glasgow smile.
The Joker would thrive in a place like Arkham. Some insight after seeing episode four of the Penguin.
Taking on the Joker after so many iconic performances, is incredibly brave. Fortunately he nailed it and made it his own
He’s just like Hannibal Lecter and I’m all for it
The director said Manhunter was the inspiration behind it.
I was definitely getting the Graham /Lecktor visit vibes in Manhunter (1986) @@wiinterflowers4277
Definitely a tribute to Heath Ledger, but he still made it his own. I would love to see more of this creepy take on the Joker.
It's like Will Graham meeting with Hannibal Lecter. I love it.
