    Still a great camera.
    Instead of using the wooden grip specifically to prevent your fingers from reaching the dials and other buttons, you can simply program the F button on the front, next to the camera grip and the lens bayonet to lock/unlock the camera ;) Called "Operation Lock" on Lumix.

    Nice work man...I like that the monitor mount has a locking pin - how often does that very part wiggle around on me? Too much! So that's good to see.
    Very clean and nice rig set-up. Thanks for sharing :)

    hey man, great video thanks for sharing. Good to see you're finaly enjoying what i also love about lumix :) you're just so productive with it because it just always works no matter the scenario it can adapt to anything. The S5 is also the camera i've been using the most for the past 3 months finaly, followed closely by the GH6.
    The BGH1 was a bad introduction to Lumix, the whole point of the BGH1 is to be operated remotely via RJ45, happy you're on the real lumix stuff now ;)

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey bro, yes I agree the BGH1 wasn't the right move. I also agree with the productivity example...it really can adapt to anything and using it stripped down is super functional so I can see why you use it the most.
      I would love to add an S5 mkii so i hope Panasonic do something special.

      @@Altcine i have invested in some lumix S Prime f/1.8 lenses (18 , 35 and 85mm) , they are fantastic and super light. I love using them wide open :D I'd be happy to see Panasonic catch up with a mk2 that has less rolling shutter and an autofocus that compares to Sony's :) But to be honest if you need autofocus you can just switch to 1080P50 at 1/50th and it works very well. The 1080 on lumix is so clean you can upscale it to 4k in post it'll look as good as sony's 4k ;)

    • @mcronfpv8736
      @mcronfpv8736 ปีที่แล้ว

      my GH6 is still the king of versatility, i've been using it all summer for live TV on a Ronin for 6 hours livestreams (hdmi out with a cage, usb powered with a powerbank, lumix 7-14 and 12-60), for a prety high end corporate film (5.8k prores raw on an atomos ninja v, speedbooster and sigma 18-35 1.8 EF), and sports documentary in outdoor remote locations (internal recording, lumix lens kit).

    I wish I had the same experience with the Black Mamba cage, mine had too much slop and easily pried on my bottom mounting point. Really needed the anti twist on the right side rather than the left. Yours seems to fit better in the grip area so maybe I just got a bad unit?

    • @Altcine

  • @Borodin410

    Why are people talking about the FX30 when you could spend the same amount and get the S5?

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is it Toby, the fx30 costs the same as the full S5 setup you see in this video Inc the video assist, cage and handle (I paid £1100 brand new for S5).
      The only thing I really gain is AF which I'm starting to need in shoots but the S5 is definitely a better buy.

    • @Borodin410
      @Borodin410 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Altcine Right! That said, given that the FX30 is part of the "cinema" line, presumably those who purchase it would be using it for filmmaking and therefore pulling focus rather than using AF , so the SONY AF advantage is kind of irrelevant. To my mind, there just doesn't seem to be any reason to sacrifice full frame for the same price point as the FX30.

  • @drowles25
    @drowles25 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You have the handle on the right side. But you need your right hand to change shutter speed, iris, etc. Why not put the handle on the left side so your right hand is free to change the buttons?

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Once I've started recording, nothing gets changed so if I need to change anything I wouldn't be recording so both hands are free. The only thing I'd change is focus, which I prefer to do with my left.
      Either side is ok though, It depends on preference.

  • @Naumachia
    @Naumachia ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is that a FX3 I spot in the beginning?
    How do you think that the FX3 compares to the S5?
    I’ve got two S5s and a GH5 but a bit frustrated with always having to manual focus (even though I’m decent at it)
    Great video, thanks!

    • @Altcine
      @Altcine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michael, yes it's an FX30 😁 I'm doing a video next week but I'd say they're close in terms of quality.
      The S5 seems to last a lot longer on battery but love the image from both. I was very happy with my p4k but the S5 showed me I need to invest in these smaller cams with better features so the only choice for a cine cam 10bit with good AF was the fx30.
      The only issue is the fx30 is soooo expensive in UK and nearly costs the same as this full lumix, video assist, smallrig setup 😮 and the only thing I really gain is good AF.

    • @Naumachia
      @Naumachia ปีที่แล้ว

      @IMCE Oh, that's cool!
      I feel you, the S5 is a bargain for what you get.
      I'm a videographer doing most of my work by myself. I'm loving my S5s for their IQ, shutter angle, exposure tools etc. The only thing I'm really missing sometimes is the AF for gimbal shots and tracking someone or something. I feel like I'm going to miss some things if I'd switch to Sony. Getting my hopes up for that mystery S5 MKII!
      Thinking of adding the FX30 to the kit and keeping my S5's but it's a lot of money for just AF. Then I need some lenses, cage etc.
      Can't decide!
