I think there is something to be said for clients seeing a setup that looks big and complicated and feeling like they got their monies worth.

You're the first person I've seen mention zacuto. I just learned about this brand. Ordered a top handle from them. Would love to see this cage compared to the zacuto s5ii cage

I use cages on all my cameras. The arri pins for monitors are great. Hdmi clamp is a must for me.
My tripod camera is rigged with rails, follow focus, and a power bank. Speeches need extra juice when the groomsmen have been drinking 😝

Great video, so true " it depends"
I like to keep cameras naked as i like gimbals and do crazy shots so keeping the gimbal light and free of attachments, with only a monopod attached, but if you are a manual focus person who goes handheld. A cage is a must.

    Cages just look cool.

I like being able to solidly attach a Manfrotto plate to the bottom of a cage, using two bolts, since an anti-rotation pin generally doesn't work with a mirrorless camera. So, I'll often even put a locked-off camera in a cage even if it doesn't have a monitor or other accessories - just less fiddling around when setting up.

Most times at weddings I have my camera on a gimbal without a cage. My second camera on my tripod has a cage but honestly doesn't need it. I only have it on there to look fancy. There are definitely times when it is 100% necessary though. I love them.

I am getting away from gimbals personally, all my shots look the same and its boring af. Going full on handheld this year!

@Marko I was honestly thinking the same thing. I think the IBIS in my FX30 is good enough to go hands free. Well... a mixture of hands-free and monopod for me

@@MichaelWTurner Nice, get em! It's so much more fun shooting handheld too! Can do so many more interesting angles.

Anyone have a problem with the screws stripping? The included tool is too small and will strip the screws

I returned the other small rig cage because yes it can go onto the DJI RS2 gimbal but it would not come off unless you took the whole Manfrotto plate off.
Does this cage have that same problem? It seems like it does.
My old setup with GH5 I could just take it off and on without ever having to figure out my plate placement since I'm just removing the camera with the arca swiss.

Are the extra support really called a gun stock? Been trying to search for it on B & H, and only found a shoulder stock for smartphones. I have a gimbal I never use since I would rather film handheld, and the extra point of contact seems like a good thing to have. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ^_^

good audio, do you need it?

No, that’s why they aren’t bought that often and they are on sale 2 months later

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I’d say it depends. We often use one when we shoot LOG with an OCM, and it can be nice when u have a “Always On Sticks” cam with audio or live-streaming components attached, but for most contexts I would agree they are not a must.

I do appreciate your video and posting efforts, but..... black mamba on black camera in front of your black shirt in front of black background with insufficient lighting. Hard to see easily and clearly. Just sayin ....
