Love the dress you made for Candace. I am quilter and sew. I make clothes for my grandchildren, but it has been years since I did any sewing for myself. Watching your podcast has given me the urge to sew something. I got a patterns and fabric for a couple tops and a sundress, but feel intimidated , but guess I have to jump in and get my feet wet and that feeling will go away.

Only recently discovered you. And I am having a great time binge watching all your videos. I want to tell you that you have inspired me so much. I now look at patterns in a different way and this has boosted my confidence and motivated me to keep sewing. Dearest Vivmom, where have you been all of my life?! I am a working Registered nurse, slightly older than you (but who is counting...certainly not me! lol), with all three of my incredible sons grown and independent now (I am so proud!). Two of my boys are married and the third/youngest boy is in a "serious" relationship (Yippee!); I have two precious young granddaughters; and I am nearing retirement in a few years. Sooooooo, I am finally looking forward to having some "me time"! I am a quilter, but have always wanted to start sewing my own clothes, as well as clothing for my granddaughters and other family members, but I didn't know where to start. And then I found YOU...one of the best things that has ever happened to me!!!!!
I discovered your You Tube videos and site two weeks ago when my dear husband and our three sons were travelling around Scotland spreading my recently deceased father-in-law's ashes along the countryside, per his wishes. (By the way, we live in Trenton, Ontario, Canada.) I was feeling sad that I wasn't able to join them for their two-week trek because of work commitments. And then I found YOU!
Well, I powered through all of your videos that weekend, watching each of them more than once, and I continue to enjoy them and your latest videos every time!!!!
You are such a delightful, kind, and generous person! I absolutely LOVE everything about you! I feel like you are my kindred spirit! I am also very spiritual and involved with fellow Christians; I have the same dry sense of humour as you have (laughter definitely is the best medicine!); I also "collect" sewing machines, patterns, fabrics, etc, (and without feeling an ounce of guilt). Some may call it hoarding...but they have never experienced the sense of joy, satisfaction, and exhilaration that one gets from finding an awesome pattern, or finding the most beautiful piece of fabric, or having sewn an absolutely perfect line of top stitching!!!!!! But I know you have experienced that, and you LOVE IT too! Quilting/sewing is therapy for me, it is calming and relaxing (unless I can't figure out a pattern's instructions, or if I make a mistake...which rarely happens! Haha!), and it makes me feel so good!!!! And it goes without saying that the shopping part of it (for patterns, fabric, etc) is just as exhilarating!!! I also will buy two pair of the same shoes, two of the same patterns, or 4 more yards of a fabric if I really like it...more of something is always better!!! And I thought I was the only person in the world that had that very "unique" trait! Yes, we are kindred!!!
Well my dear, I have taken up far too much of your time today (I am apologizing just like you do!). I have rambled on and on, and still have so much more to share with you, but that will have to wait until next time as much darling hubby is waiting in the car to take me shopping...FABRIC SHOPPING... Dear debi, this letter made me smile from start to finish. Thank you so much for writing and taking the time to tell me a bit about you. I am so appreciative. I started this channel almost on a lark, dreaming that an audience of 500 would be fantastic. Imagine my amazement as I sit here today having met scores of wonderful, sewing people who love fabric and patterns as much as I do!! It has been the most fun and a joyous experience. There’s comfort in knowing we’re “not the only ones” out there in this often cold and calculating world.
