What About Metallica??? we all love Pantera! Especially the First Three Records but everyone knows Metallica are the Definitive American Heavy Metal Band! at least until the Load Era! and Pantera was heading downwards because of Phil's drug abuse, it sucks but that's the truth! at least to me anyway.

took a break to have a bikini contest. I got a couple of drinks, couple of shots in me. When they cranked back up, I was breathing fire. I hit the pit with everything I had. Phil's vocals on this album beat every other album, hands down.
That is an invalid statement because he did the aggressive style much better and more. Developed on the later album than he did here. And the vocal style he used on each album was designed for each one of those albums. And the point was as the album's got heavier and more aggressive, his vocal had to match it. And each one of those albums after was just as good as cowboys. Just unique and evolving more vicious.
But Phil delivered on each one and his signature vocal style and range developed to its max by Great Southern Trendkill.

The solo on this one actually sounds like a psycho holiday, a descent into madness. Not always the biggest fan of shredding solos as they can come off as self-indulgent at times (to me, anyway), but this one really suits what the song is getting at.
@@krikahalo I think there's actually some great Thrash Metal. I just don't get anything out of the stuff that thinks you can dispense with virtually the traditional facets of songwriting and performance like interesting lyrics, melodies, motifs, hooks and dynamics and replace all that with blistering aggression and technique for technique's sake. The latter approach just comes off as boring, one-dimensional and deeply unsatisfying.
You are Brian May(or that's what your name suggests)
@@vedshimpi1536 I'm actually Brian Molko, and yes, a friend with weed *is* better.
Despite Dime being one the most celebrated shredders he chose the simple and direct path for his riffs. A sign of a musician who puts the song before his ego. A rare thing.
yessss!!!!
exactly!
His rhythm work wasn't praised enough. Nobody grooved like he did. But, that was the sign of the times. Shredding was king, and often took a back seat to good songs and steller band performance.
Less is More. Dime knew that.
Yeah right lol. Lets see you play his riffs with the precise timing in and out of the riffs. Too many people on TH-cam think they're "experts".

Empty and sweating
Head lying in your hands
Shaking in the corner
Done too much alcohol
Gotta get away from it all
'Cause it feels my blood is freezing
My self insanity has taken its toll
Frustration has taken its control
Now I'm far from home
Spending time alone

My mind laid to rest

Shot down on sight
You are the target of attention
One woman here another there
You can't please all the people all the time
Can't tell the strangers
From the friends you know
Frustration has taken it's control
Now you're far from home
Spending time alone
It's time to set your demons free
Been put through the test
Your mind laid to rest
You're on a psycho holiday
I'm strapped in for life
Is this where I lived
Or where I died
You want my money
You take my space
My mind is telling me
To leave this place
My self insanity has taken its toll
Frustration has taken its control
Now you're far from home
Spending time alone
It's time to set your demons free
Been put through the test
Your mind laid to rest
You're on a psycho holiday
