      @JPX64Channel ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@jeremyjames1659 no dude you are incorrect, i myself suffer from back pain, and i assure you i could still headbang and move like a maniac , but yeah after adrenaline drops the pain will be excruciating, and i wouldnt get surgery because of the low success rate, phil finally got his surgery and then he barely was able to move anymore onstage, he even had to put one of his feet on a chair in order to perform, you are never the same after a back surgery most of the times, and that was phil's case, compare a phil's 2014 show with a +2018 - present one and you will see.

    Damn I miss these guys. No one in metal today has their passion, energy, groove and emotion pouring out of em like Pantera did. Metal it seems these days is all about who can play the heaviest, fastest and most technical, completely forgetting about the groove and energy with the fans. Crank the Pantera today folks.

      @michaelscanlan6765 8 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      +Adam Subitch If you look at the extreme examples yea but I don't think that's true at all. There are plenty of bands who have incredible passion, energy and emotion. Maybe not groove because not every band wants groove oriented music though. I mean, a band like The Dillinger Escape plan is the perfect example. Insane passion for what they do, levels of energy (Especially live) that could keep a star powered, and raw emotion.
      There is plenty of bands out there today that are just doing waht they love, in fact that is the vast majority of them. Don;t discount the new bands because you want to stay with these bands, it's just not fair.

      +Adam Subitch -couldn't agree more, bro! I not only miss Pantera but the era they were a part of.
      The whole metal scene is fragmented nowadays. You have many talented, decent groups, but there isn't that one DEFINITIVE metal band that unifies all the different metal fans and age groups like Pantera did. Metallica and GnR are toothless old hounds, living off their 80s legacy. Megadeth and Slayer are respectable, but neither band filled up the arenas or sold as many albums as Pantera did. The other thing is that people have become kinda low energy. Its all about cellphones, farcebook, texting, selfies, reality tv and other distraction crap. In the 70s, 80s, and 90s, it was all about the music and nothing else. You would drink or get high with you buds and just let the music drive you, consume you. Nowadays, people are too busy on their phones or jabbering to their friends while bands are playing. Just my opinion.

We never know everything that there is to know about everybody... even our "best friend(s) could be hiding something from each and every one of us that, if their dark secret was exposed, would be so devastating to us, that we might never get over it!!! This is some of Pantera's best music ever, and when I hear Phil soundi like he's tearing his vocal chords to shreds like that, it makes me wonder-How did he do that, and still end up with a voice at all?!? You can see that, at certain points, he's holding his throat. That really had to hurt like fire! What a voice, and what determination, to be able to get through a song like that, and still have any voice at all!!!!!

    • @NickSwe
      @NickSwe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's all in rex's book (and I have seen lots of old interviews), some stuff has been denied by the band, rex even, kinda weird since he wrote the thing with the help of a writer, but I believe that's related to fights and issues between the band members, all the info of the recordings and accounts of phil and his drug dependency seems to be the "official truth", yeah, that was a pun.

    • @michaelhutton8967
      @michaelhutton8967 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      you're right on with what your saying....things would probably be different if Phil hadn't been going through all the stuff he was...and Pantera could of stayed together and Dimebag would be with Us still...

    • @NickSwe
      @NickSwe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      the moron who killed Dimebag, whom I refuse to learn his name, had already harassed and even tried to attack the guys from Pantera before the tragic night, trying to blame Phil for it is just ridiculous, maybe Pantera would have been still a band by the time the idiot got the guts to do what he did, but the truth is that he didn't really care which member he attacked, he got a chance to be near the brothers and just went for it, it could have been phil or rex if Down would have had a gig in that city near that date. Phil went on to a dark path with the heroin thing but think he did it to keep Pantera alive, maybe, just maybe, without him everything would have went downhill and the name of Pantera would have never reached the level it reached, but to think about what could have happened is just pointless, no one is to blame for that night but the asshole with the gun.

    • @michaelhutton8967
      @michaelhutton8967 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Been following Pantera 30 years. I miss Dimebag. Drag the waters is by far the best Pantera TUNE EVER.

    What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall during the recording of this album (or any Pantera record for that matter)

      It would have to be multiple walls. The band was close to splitting up here and Phil was in New Orleans recording his vocals separately while the rest of the band recorded in another state
