    I was born in Perth and still live here. Agree with everything you said. But the best city in Australia for fun and entertainment is Melbourne, and probably why your friend went back there. They have all the Greatest Sporting events such as the Australian Grand Prix, Grand Slam Tennis, two huge AFL ovals, Boxing Day Test and more. But treat yourself for a holiday in our best state of Tasmania, and take the ferry from Geelong. Wow, by far my favourite place here. Cheers

    I've lived in Perth my entire life (33 yrs) and I love it, and I love hearing your POV. One, because I love when people appreciate Perth and it gets a bit of a bad rap and seen as boring and two, it reminds me of things that I take for granted, like the nature and the beaches as they have always been there for me, and I forget how lucky we are to have them around so close to the CBD

    My partner and I are thinking about moving to Perth, we are both european and live in Sydney since 2y and would love to buy a house and settle down somewhere. Sydney isn't an option obviously due to the housing crisis prices are astronomically high. You can literally buy 4 houses in Perth for the price of 1 in Sydney lol.
    I personally spent more than 1y in Perth as a backpacker a few years back and loved it.

      Don't come. Population increase is ruining Australia. We don't need any more roads and roofs. If we don't increase our population, we can avoid both urban sprawl and high density living. We could keep our rare and precious flora and fauna, if we don't increase our population.

    It’s not a great thing that people are pouring into Perth. I was born here in the 60’s. It’s getting hard to live here regarding affordability. It’s getting very crowded. And crime is rising. Depending where you live you will get your house broken into. I’ve had two house break ins. If you live in the poorer areas you are likely to get robbed at some stage. Homeless people are on the increase in the city and Fremantle.

    I love Perth CBD and South Perth and Dalkeith. But it's very sparse outside of that central area. It needs another million people to fill out the suburbs and to build better infrastructure in the suburbs. The beaches have no shade or shops - it's like being in the desert at the same time as being on a beach. So you need a car if you want to explore. The water is undrinkable. The river is toxic. It's a good place to make money, save money, and then retire early somewhere else.

    I'm from Perth but live in Adelaide. There's no way in hell that Perth is safer than Adelaide... Perth has way more rough areas in the suburbs than Adelaide has... Everywhere on Midland and Armadale train lines are sketchy, Rockingham and Mandurah sketchy, the northern suburbs like balga and girrawheen are rough and I could go on and on. There's bad spots everywhere you go in Perth. Adelaide your pretty much safe everywhere ya go apart from the far north.

    Please get yourselves to Melbourne and the state of Victoria for a holiday to obtain a wider understanding of Australia. Melbourne is the Arts, Academic, Sports, Gardens and Cultural centre of Australia with over 200 ethnicities. Victoria has beautiful and varied countryside from grasslands, valleys, hills, mountains with a snow sports culture, temperate rainforests, caves, gorges, lakes, waterfalls, rivers and water- bays and sea nearly all around, and deserts At one time in our history Western Australia wanted to secede from the rest of Australia, creating their own separate country !?! Regarding beaches, Bondi in Sydney is a crowded tourist mecca. There are lots more less crowded and better beaches there. I dislike the sand on WA beaches as it is very fine and easily gets into your eyes when the wind blows, which is often and very irritating. Have you been down to S-W WA to experience the forest of the giant Karri trees ? It is wonderful ! Victoria has the second tallest/ and tallest flowering tallest trees in the world (after the American Redwoods) known as the Mountain Ash/Stringy Gum/Swamp Gum in the gorgeous and fern-filled Dandenong Ranges, which are part of The Great Dividing Range which is on the eastern side of Australia and then hooks around to the mid and west of Victoria. Really, Perth is like a big country town with skyscrapers.

      @Alunticstalkedme4072 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Only a person from Melbourne could come onto a forum and get upset because someone doesnt include their city enough.
      Firstly Sydney is more culturally diverse than Melbounre. Victoria doesn't have the 2nd tallest trees in the world, Tasmania does and there is hardly any lands you'd constitute as desert in Victoria. The weather in Melbourne is awful, cold and grey akin to London in winter. The coastline of the Bay is drab, the beaches are the worst of any city in Australia and Melbounre is so overatted by its inhabitants that they constantly talk it up because they know Sydney is a world city and Melbounre is its forgotten ugly sister. Perth is a thousand times more beautiful than Melbounre.
      And Perth a city of 2 million and rapidly exoanding is hardly likened to a country town with skyscrapers .
      And you don't like the sand on Perth beaches, LMAO!. The sands actually vary in texture along the metro area of Perth. So I asusme you prefer the horrible beaches in Melbounre instead of Perths sugar white sand and turquoise waters warmed by the Lewin currrent of the Indian ocean. Then there is Rottnest whos beaches are off the charts.The coastline of Victoria even with the great ocean road can't compete with the beauty of Western Australias vast coastline which encompasses thousands of unspoilt becahes and the majesty of Ninglaoo as its crown. Perth has to have some of the best city beaches in the world, they are gorgeous. It's also only slightly windier than Melbourne and less so than Sydney on average.
      And if your going to talk up Victoria's tiny footprint of landscapes and wildlife, it's not comparable to the variety of WA running through all Australias cliamtic zones and has the oldest lands on earth. As someone who has travelled around Australia nearly twice Victotia isn't even comparable to what WA offers in terms of landscapes, fauna and flora.

      @barnowl. 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Alunticstalkedme4072 You need to get some education to dispel your ignorance and emotional belief bias. The FACTS are that MELBOURNE was rated 'The WORLD'S Most LIVEABLE CITY' on a Global Rankings List for seven years and only came down a little due to the Co-vid Lockdown. It is still near the top and NEVER has Sydney or Perth passed Melbourne's ranked place. The GRL praises Melbourne for its education, healthcare, environment and culture. Melbourne has 200 plus ethnicities, spread throughout, hence its wonderful variety of food on offer.
      To address your ignorance, also -
      *The weather in Melbourne has four varied seasons. In winter it is naturally cold and grey but nowhere near London's weather. FYI Sydney receives much more rain than Melbourne and Perth needs more rain. Melbourne's weather is far more bearable than the heat of Perth.
      * The beaches are not drab but the water is quieter as Melbourne is situated on a beautiful BAY. So it is more available for a variety of water sports activities. For rougher, open sea water there are two close peninsulas to go to plus the beaches of the south and west coasts of Victoria. The east coast has a NINETY MILE beach. The beaches are accessible to most of the population of Victoria.
      * Victoria DOES HAVE the tallest flowering trees and second tallest trees in the world , as does Tasmania - but I was not writing about Tasmania !
      * Victoria DOES HAVE deserts, known as the Little Desert and the Big Desert in N-W Victoria, with gorgeous flower flora in Spring.
      * The eastern side of Australia - including Victoria - is the most ancient land on earth - the western side of Australia (including Perth)was once a sea-bed (as was the Sahara Desert) which is why it is mainly desert now.
      * I have also travelled around Australia and visited and stayed in every state and city. I have visited relatives who live in Perth and Sydney. They state that Melbourne is the better city. I have travelled around the world to quite a number of countries. I know from experience that MELBOURNE IS THE MOST LIVEABLE CITY IN THE WORLD.
