    The best thing about Perth, and there are many, is the consistent weather. From November to March, you can be guaranteed the weather will be perfect. It is due to the lack of mountains. It means you can arrange a barbeque weeks in advance knowing for sure the weather will be perfect. We moved here ten years ago from the UK and it's been the best decision of our lives. Literally everything is better than it was: work, money, lifestyle, schools, health, everything. Best of all, I can still watch Tottenham play almost every game live, and Formula One races, something I couldn't do on the east coast.

    Born in Perth, live in Perth, and work in Perth. Liked the early 90s Perth, houses were cheaper and affordable. Just another big city now and theyre still coming over paying astronomical prices for rentals if you can get one.

      Yeah but that’s normal, most places in the 90s were very cheap. In the 60s a house probably costed a pack of gum 😂 - believe it or not Perth is veryyyy affordable compared to places I’ve lived so it could be worse.

    Spent a working holiday year in Perth in 2012! The memories are still very vivid! Planning a holiday still this year - Perth and Queensland as I never been! Probably a good trip to decide if moving there! I’m a field service engineer in the medical field in London

    Hi Simon,
    Your story sounds very similar to mine. I'm from Dunedin and came here when I was 22 years old. I've been here nearly 29 years and have a family. I've lived all over Perth both NOR and SOR and currently reside in Kalamunda where we love the lifestyle, 1/2 acre space and views from the top of the hill.
    It can certainly be a rewarding place if you put in the effort and I believe I wouldn't have had the same outcome if i had stayed in Dunedin, or even NZ.
    The only drawback is I still find summers very hot (especially this last one), but fortunately we have a pool at this house which definitely helps when you're nearly an hour away from the beach.
    I have certainly noticed the changes in the last few years and population is growing quite rapidly. It was only 1.2 million when I arrived.
    Glad to hear you like it here too.
    - Brendon

    lets be honest here, any place not getting smashed by bombs is a doable place to live
    I find the social life in Oz similar to the UK, but getting a nip at a coffee shop is impossible
    Perth being so spread out and booze patrols on a par with the East German Stazi makes the pub scene awkward unless a $100 cab fare is locked in.
    But note , Perth taxi scene is a total joke most times.
    10x easier just to chilli out at home and crash when you the light go out

    • @Simon_Atkins
      @Simon_Atkins  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's depends on what you think a good place to live is. If you don't know much about Secret Harbour it's on the southern coast of Perth between Rockingham and Mandurah, about 56km from the Perth CBD. Great golf course if that's your thing!

      I was very close to building in Secret Harbour. I ended up building a property in Baldivis (not far away) with a better view and a way better price tag. After living here for 13 years iv found I prefer the distance of getting to things around Baldivis over Secret Harbour. Secret Harbour is a nice area and worth checking out. Both have a family friendly feel with lots of playgrounds and parks for the children.
