I’m a Pom and have been living in Perth WA for 12 years. 100% correct in your observations, it’s a great place to live and bring up children. I certainly see a difference when we visit UK.
We also have a great health service so coupled with health insurance, there are no long waits for surgery etc and I get to see my doctor, if not on the day(which is normal) is usually a 1 or 2 day wait.

I live near Cleveland on bayside. Moved here in 2008. You are spot on with your video, so great job there. I have visited the UK a number of times since living out here. Whenever we go back it is like there are more and more bits missing. Also after a few days we get homesick for Australia. Anyone out here may understand and experienced that. Me personally took me about 5 years to feel fully at home here and adjust to an entire new life. You do miss aspects of your old life but you do find you adjust and change yourself for the better. By adopting those positive mannerisms you mentioned. Also you need a dog. We have two. You are not Australian English until you have a dog.

Do you know that's actually bs. I'm originally from Bournemouth and also have lived in the Midlands, London, Devon, New Zealand, and Ireland. Outside any large Metropolis people often have more time for each other, hence the smile or nod. Inside an inner city they don't tend to because of a feeling of less security and frequently rushing to or from work or doing business. Whether that's here in our cities in Oz or in the UK or anywhere else. People are people. Some are friendly. Some are not. Some people are shy some are garrulous.

Hi. Your vlog came across my feed, and so I watched it. I'm from Mackay, North Queensland. Some of the points you mentioned are area specific. You live in the beautiful coastal area of South East Queensland. That area is well maintained and funded by the government. Roads and public transport, generally really good.
Try driving further north past Gympie or head out west, and you'll quickly find the woeful state of our roads. Potholes everywhere, roads poorly constructed, which leads to a rapid deterioration. We here in other parts of Queensland have longed for more funding outside of the southeast corner.
Your vlog was good and is a reflection of your experiences since you have been here, and that's fantastic. I love to see people who immigrate here enjoying their sea change.
Welcome to Oz. I noticed that there seems to be a few Brits on the Sunny Coast.

Australia is a nice place to live. I migrated to Australia as a child in 1960 and have been an Australian citizen since 1965. Things back then were a lot rougher, even less civilised. This caused many British migrants to move back to the UK.
Aussies can laugh at themselves and we don't take ourselves too seriously. Learn the lingo and don't worry about the expletives Australians like to use in everyday speech. Interesting, this popped up. Glad you’re enjoying your time here. Being on the Sunny Coast you're in a fairly privileged position, in that as it’s largely a tourist area, it's generally cleaner and more well maintained than some other areas. We do have narrow and poorly maintained roads as well, for example. You're right about the weather. Whilst in that part of Queensland, it's sub tropical thus of course it's going to hot and humid more often than not, but even cooler parts of the country, other than the alps, are not so cold in winter you can't take the dog for a walk. I live in one of those cooler areas.

You are both young people, but you will notice a big difference between Senior aged people in Australia and the UK. This is a generalization of course, but in the UK, it seems that as soon as a person retires, they become an Old Age Pensioner (OAP). They dress like a person from the previous generation, they act like they are ten years older, and they seem to have a deflated attitude, as if life has beaten them. In Australia, when people retire, they dress smartly and appropriately for their age. They go out a lot, catch up with friends, play sport, travel and have a happy outlook on life. Anyway, welcome. Life is not perfect here, but it is much better then 99% of the rest of the world. Keep up the positive outlook and remember that in Australia you can have mates (friends) who are richer or poorer than you, but they will treat you the same.

Look - nowhere is perfect and you will definitely face some challenges in this country. I came from the UK over 35-years ago and had some problems to start with, but I’d never go back, not even for a holiday. I’ve lived in the Caribbean, China, the UK, and Oz - and I can say living on the Gold Coast beats all of those places hands down. Glad you like Oz (…not fond of the Sunshine Coast personally, not as much life as the GC, but it’s beautiful for sure)

We've always been a few decades behind old blighty, but winter is coming to Australia too, sorry to say. We're not exempt from psyco pollies here either. And enjoy that gorgeous Queensland weather. Good luck with your first cyclone. I've subscribed because, how could I not when you both chuckle so at the mention of a "shrubbery"? And because I want to see how long your state of wonder lasts. I wish you the very best of British luck.

Well the whole world is going into lockdown soon and all the heavily brainwashed blue pilled normies will FINALLY be forced to listen to disclosures about the massive war we have been in underground and intergalactic that has been going on for millenia. When people realise all of that, and know we are about to go through an ascension to 4th and 5th dimension and leave our homes and everything in it behind, well none of this matters now, does it. The world we knew is about to disappear and the new world is amazing, but you have to go through shocking heartache before you get there.

Shopping centre parking limits are free but may have time limits or you get the first few hours free. Hovering retail staff looking for a sale is not here in Australia. Staff will ask if you need any help then offer to help you. Second hand cars are holding their prices because they are hard to get new imports into the country - often 12 - 18 months.

You're missing dodging potholes? Come down south to Victoria. We have potholes on suburban streets, freeways, highways, country roads, everywhere.
Free parking at the beach? Not in the major cities. Councils charge for parking like a wounded bull.

Welcome to Australia guys, I'm just down the road in Brisbane. Agree with all your points although, youth crime is getting out of hand a bit. Will this be your first Christmas during summer? I know that's a big culture shock for many Brits who make the move because it's generally hot AF lol. Also, if it's your first summer in QLD be prepared for the storms we get hit with, you'll have plenty of warning and there's lots of preparation information on the government and SES (State Emergency Services) websites. Enjoy and at least if you have a day out in Brisbane you can catch the train for 50 cents. Also, Ross, from 'ThatJohnstonLife' lives in the Northern suburbs of Brisbane, you should contact him as he's been doing a great series on his channel interviewing mainly brits that have just moved here, be a good way to plug your channel too.

Free parking at beaches doesn't happen in the big cities!! Anywhere that attracts tourists or where there's limited space to park attracts a fee. Look for the signs to make sure you know what the parking rules are!
In shopping malls it's usually the first 3 hours are free and then you pay but the signs at the entrance will let you know.
We love to keep our country clean! Many years ago a solo sailor returned from his around the world trip and started Clean Up Australia Day. This happens on the first Sunday morning in March. But we also try to keep it clean. You will notice more rubbish and graffiti in the big cities though. So if you see rubbish on the beach or rivers puck it up so the ocean and beaches remain clean.
