Karajan's Mahler is some of the best! It's a shame he didn't record them all!

@@daniel3231995 It's thanks to technology that we're preserving the masters. Not a day goes by when you don't hear a symphony conducted by Karajan on the radio in any city in the United States. To the next generation these guys might as well be alive; our parents never met them in person even when they did walk this earth.

The Berlin Philharmonic must be obsessed with "longing and longing" for their "favorite" maestro, Herbert von Karajan, who once managed to escape from Furtwängler's simple expressionism, and who dared to drop his interpretation deep into the score, and who conveyed that clear balance to them many times over the years, and who probably achieved a metaphysical theorization to the core of performance psychology. It may be rude, but the current chef is not a chef, he is just a "pampering" for the orchestra! If it were the Vienna Philharmonic, he would have already been told to leave the stage. Above all, it is just "expressionism" without a conducting performance philosophy, so it does not leave a lasting impression. No matter how much it causes friction. In order to avoid that friction, they seem to "let it happen", but even in the actual performance, they maintain a "faithful attitude to the score", implicitly appealing to the audience that they are "doing it faithfully to the score". There is no meaning or value to it at all. The existence of a conducting and performance philosophy is completely invisible.

    I'm viewer from Japan.
I have seen these scenes of rehearsal in TV program
broadcast by NHK educational and that program was originally
produced by TV company in French and features his biography.
Maybe was Mr Seiji Ozawa there behind Karajan scanning the score of this symphony
to learn his method of conducting when this rehearsal was captured?

Why didn't he ever record Mahler's 2nd Symphony - The Resurrection? Was he uncomfortable with it? He did find Mahler difficult.

But Bernstein did it ! I wonder that Karajan made multiple video recordings for Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and others but he did not record any Mahler symphony in video ! I am sure he did not lack the ability but it seems to me that he did not love Mahler as much as Richard Strauss for example whom he made video recordings of his complex works such as Alpine symphony.
