Ok, who's here? Have we got the iPhone or the Android owners in the house? 😅 In all seriousness though, this one's for the long-term viewers of my channel, who have diligently watched my 'switching to android' videos, every single time I release one! So, tell me, honestly, which Android phone do YOU think is better than the iPhone?
Wow, an actual licensed track for the opening, this must be a special video... Edit: Wow and for the end too, someone's saving money by not returning his review units...
For me, it's the opposite. I've used Android since 1.6 (donut) in 2009, then I switched to iPad first in 2019 and iPhone in 2020. I should have switched years ago. I was so loyal to Android but I always hated it because it was never smooth or coherent and the update anxiety is the worst.
@NinPossible The update anxiety with android is real. The only reason I stayed with android this year is the fact that a) samsung has been consistent with updates and b) the fact that they promised 7 years of updates which really means that I will not be having update anxiety in 3 years time.
Apple has won if you completely ignore the 2 largest markets in the World: India and China ... where Apple can't seem to sell much. And if you look into South America (where I moved recently), I don't see many Apple products here in Brazil (probably due to the fact that an iPhone here costs $2000 due to import taxes while average income is barely around $500). Apple seems to dominate mostly in the US and be 50/50 in Europe (where I am from). In my opinion, thinking that Apple dominates is a very narrow (UK + US) point of view but I might be wrong and it would be interesting to compare that point of view with actual sales numbers worldwide (which I admit I didn't do).
My editor used to live in Brazil. I remember trying to get a Macbook Pro to him - INSANELY expensive to buy. I even looked at buying one here and jumping on a plane to give it to him in person. Madness. I believe Android has wider market share worldwide, since there are hundreds of companies that make phones of all shapes / sizes / budgets. But then again, Apple is the 2nd most valuable company in the entire world. Under Microsoft I think? So where Android revenue is split between thousands of devices and manufacturers. Apple takes all of the iPhone revenue. So I guess it just depends on how your frame the 'Who's won'. By valuation, number of devices sold. Android as a whole, or the individual companies making Android devices etc! Appreciate you watching and commenting man, I hope you enjoyed the vid :)
@@PeteMatheson That is definitely an interesting way to look at it. Let's say that as a company they have won, but as an ecosystem they have "lost". I mean lost as not dominating any market but clearly we can't say they are loosers since at a whole, they are a huge contender in any of those markets. But if they stay as closed and pricey as they are today, I can see them losing market shares over time. That might be where the EU is helping them despite it not being the goal. By forcing them to open a little bit, it might be bad short-term but I think it will strengthen their position long-term. There are so many things we can speculate on but only time will tell :)
@TechDaddyFr ---- The key point is what you said in the last line of your comment. One must look at actual sales numbers. The quick version is that Apple ships 20% of worldwide phones (same as Samsung), they make 60% of the revenue (net sales) and make 80% of the profits in the entire market. The first number (units) that most people look at are phony and published by IDC or Counterpoint. The revenue and profits are exact and issued by the various manufacturing companies. Also the number of units are NOT sales, but rather shipments. Sales in any company are always reported as money not units. The companies that do the shipment reports do not have access to 100% of the data, they are estimating and sometimes off wildly. Getting back to "has Apple already won" then. In my opinion it is yes. There are many reasons but most importantly by being more profitable they can spend lavish amounts on R&D and other companies can't. The innovation in the market depends upon R&D. When one looks at the real numbers, it's not a close race. Apple won years ago.
@TechDaddyFr ---- Wanted to mention something unrelated to my previous comment. You said "if you completely ignore the 2 largest markets India and China". In India Apple is quite small. The Indian government forced them build manufacturing facilities before the could build Apple stores and sell at decent prices, but it is growing at a rapid rate. However in China they are extremely successful. I'll compare Apple sales to Huawei sales to illustrate this: Huawei is the largest Chinese consumer tech company. Of the company sales 67% are in the Chinese market. The total of consumer sales for Huawei was 35 billion usd. So 67% of that is Chinese consumer sales of 23.5 billion usd. In the case of Apple they reported 72.5 billion in China sales for 2023. Apple is dominant in high-end tech which sells extremely well in urban China. Huawei is very strong selling low-end tech to people in rural China.
the only reason they haven’t monopolised China is because WeChat is all you need on your device. So the buyers don’t buy a phone based on the OS compatibility but on the actual phone features.
Couldn't agree more Pete, I miss the old Apple, especially when it comes to the iPhone. Just watched this on my glorious S24 Ultra ❤❤❤❤ awesome content mate
For me it’s the combination of build quality, software integration, user experience and ecosystem is the winning formula for me. Sure there are better phones with bigger brighter screens, bigger cameras, better specifications etc. But I have more than a phone and Apple is the only company that offers all the products I need in my life.
Apple offers but a handful of products. I can appreciate your simple life without the need for devices, but it seems odd you need Apple stuff. I guess if you live in a hotel and eat out, use dry cleaners etc then no need for more than and iPhone for ticktok 🤷♂️
This is an AMAZING video. Great editing, great music choice for the background, great everything. I have been a fan of the channel for a while now and I have to say this is your best video yet!
Man, thank you SO much for this comment! Appreciate you watching. Super anxious about how this video would be received, and tried to make it as balanced as possible (as balanced as a video about apple could be...) 😁
The fact that iPhone has up to 10 years of a head start on all of the other phones and ecosystems, also exactly the advantage those other phones have. There are certain core UI things that Apple would love to change about the iPhone but can't now because their user base is too big. Things that Samsung and Google have been able to fix because their developers got to use an iPhone for years and learn exactly what should be changed.
Dude your writing and analysis is amazing! You got a new subscriber. I swtiched from iphone 10 to S21 back in 2021 only to go back to iphone 13 4 months later. 3 days back i was determined and just bought the S24U. I was simply bored of the iphone not offerjng anythjnh new while S24U is amazing. Iphone needs a new offering or they will be go the Nokia way.
I’ve had an iPhone since iPhone 4, I current have 13 Pro Max. For about the last 3-5 years iPhone has just been lacking. That connection to Apple and the ecosystem is what’s hard to leave. I’ve been wanting the S24U. I believe it’s the best phone on the market. How did you make the switch and stay away?
A+ for video production Pete! You have put together a great team. 80% of Americans have an iPhone so I’m not surprised such a high percentage of teenagers in the US are iPhone users - because their mums and dads have iPhones… and Apple’s marketing in recent years really has been aimed at youth/young adults on social media. But here in Australia it’s split evenly at 50/50 iPhone and Android users and in Asian countries it’s predominantly Android. Parents will likely buy their kids the budget version of what they’re using. Also, I’m very curious (as I am every year) about the iPhone 16… can they win me back from Samsung?
Thank you so much Rebecca! I'm sure Apple will always win my money, as they do every year - but that's more because it's part of the TH-cam Tech review job now. I do think if I wasn't doing this then I'd probably just have stuck with Apple for convenience, but I'm glad to have pushed outside of the Apple world and see what else there is!
I went into the Apple ecosystem rabbit-hole for a couple years, but I'm free again. I had an iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods Pro, MacBook Pro, HomePod Mini, and two AppleTV's. It was going alright for a while, but then it dawned on me: In order to keep these items functioning properly, I'm basically limited to only buying Apple from now on. Especially the Apple Watch, which literally only works with the iPhone. So that's when I quit.
Wow… new subie here, but i got emotional and very nostalgic with this heartwarming and lovely video. Thanks for sharing your apple story and i am glad i came across your channel and community
Great Video Pete!! You captured the essence of everyone’s phone battle perfectly!! I had the first ever iPhone in 2007 and upgraded every year until I changed to Android when the Samsung S9 came out…. I stuck with Android until the iPhone 14 Pro when I jumped back. And your right Apple might not have the best product in any individual category but their ecosystem is unrivalled!! I have the iPhone 15 Pro, Watch & MacBook Pro and I think as a filmmaker & creator the MacBook Pro is essential!! The system just works and integrates so well together. Awesome video mate 🙌🏻🔥
coming from years of samsung and other androids, im also very bored with them expecting them to degrade after a few months or years. meanwhile all of my friends who have apple products even though some aren't up to the latest iOS version are still very fine with their iphones. now that i've reached a point that i can actually try owning an iphone i finally understood why. sure, it may not have the best of everything but it's got the right mixture of everything that you don't really think about it most of the time and you just integrate it with your life.
Ah thank you so much! Put a lot of thought into this one, and without falling into making a standard tech review style of video. Glad you enjoyed this one!
I was a big of android back then. I bought my first iPhone 3G with my own money. I hated the apple fans for waiting an “iPhone” in front of the Apple Store. After buying it p, I understand now why people love the apple products. After this I bought my very first MacBook Pro late 2008. It changed my view to apple completely (positiv way). When I was 18Years old, I bought a iPhone 4a and then the iPhone 5. All the products from apple “just worked”. My dad not a big fan of apple bought his first iPhone (12mini) he likes the formfactor and the simple OS. I don’t think he will switch to android again 😂😂
I'm looking at going the other way, Samsung to iPhone. It's improtant to note, I'll be going mid range, as I always have, so iPhone SE vs the Samsung A series. I feel the mid range is where Apple falls down, offering only a single mid range product, then doubling the price, in my region, for the base flagship style product. However, what Apple offers, for me, over Android, is simplicity. As I get older, I'm 51, I just ease of operation, being able to download an app and trust it's not a dodgy app, or worse, a dodgy app masked as a legit app. Also just to be able to buy accessories that'll work natively without needing to faff about. Plus, and probably most importantly, the rest of the family use iPhone, and with my elderly father living alone, having those built in location services etc are important for us.
Well said (articulate) I agree with you on this one. Love the way you put this together from the visuals and editing aspect of it. One of your best work in my opinion.
I was bored with iPhones when I switched to the s22 ultra. When the s22 ultra works, it's phenomenal. The camera is amazing. Screen is beautiful, but I've simply had a bad overall experience with it. I'm currently on my third s22 ultra because they can't stay connected to the network. Even this phone is starting to show signs it's unstable at best. I'll be switching back to iPhone at the end of this year, when the 16 is out.
With most apple products, to get the best experience of the new features, I think that one must wait a few years before upgrading. If one upgrades to the newest iPhone every year, the new stuff is minuscule. But if one upgrades from an iPhone 13 or older to the upcoming iPhone 16 (or pro/pro max), the new features will be more present in their daily lives.
great video Pete. I can certainly relaate to this. I have an iPhone 15 Pro and the Samsung s24 ultra As much as I would like to fully switch to the ultra I just cant seem to break free the pull of apple. which is a shame because the ultra is a great phone.
I carry both and intend to continue doing so. An iPhone Pro Max and a Galaxy S Ultra. However I've only used an Apple Watch for the past 3.5 years and sold my Galaxy watches. I'm still undecided what types of laptop to upgrade to from my ancient Windows laptop.
Nah I don't understand it. Used iphones from the iPhone 4s and got the iPhone 15 pro max. Traded it in got the fold 5 and not looked back. It's not that hard to switch if you want to
Apple, like any company, will only bring new innovations when required to keep ahead of the competition. I blame the current stagnation on the chronic inability of the competition to come even close to what Apple can provide. Android is as scattered as ever meaning some apps and services only work on iPhones. Samsung despite it's technical superiority continues to use an awful UI. Google abandoned tablets a while ago. Microsoft failed with it's phone and arm-based computing. Intel has been sitting on its hands for years churning out overheating and underperforming processors. The list goes on.
Great video! Quality was awesome. I enjoyed trip down memory lane. I think it’s funny that you are right the whole package! It is so important that just recently has Samsung and google caught on and try to make their own ecosystems. The only problem is that they all have to depend on an outside entity for software or hardware. I think the mistake that people make is can Apple make the iPhone with all the features that Samsung does….yes but like you stated they focus on the whole package. Samsung only needs to focus on 1 item their phone.
Thank you! Yeah exactly - but it does mean you get some very cool / new / innovative products that Apple can't / wouldn't make. Each have their own benefits! It's part of the fun :)
I think you overestimate the number of people who are that deep into Apple even in the US. Let's not ignore the millions and millions of US citizens who quite literally just have an iPhone and possibly some earbuds as their current devices (windows PC at home). Switching phone OS is incredibly easy to the point that I've done it four times in the last year. I use my airpods no matter what phone i have. I think the gap for most iPhone users is actually quite small and my prediction is that Apple is going to find that out in the next couple years.
Lol it sounds like true nostalgia with a pinch of regret. It sounds like you finally decided to close the chapter on iphone and embarking on the journey of samsung! As we get older its not about how pretty shoes are,but how comfortable and affordable they are, same goes for tech!
I couldn't agree more. My journey with Apple started with the MacBook Pro in 2007 and an iPod. Yeah, the rest is all history. Countless times, like many of us, I've tried to switch phones, but it's almost like there's a piece of a puzzle missing.
Most people who are busy with their lives and jobs don't care about tinkering or the extensive customisation you get on Android. As long as the main functions work and it's reliable.
This video hit different. Well written Pete 👌🏽 As many, I feel exactly the same and have gone through the same (with the addition of the HomePods too) 😅
issue is that people think they're getting/buying the 'best' product for them and don't like to think they've not got it - confirmation bias etc. This in turn means that switching technologies (ios to android to ios) is limited to a longer time period versus from year to year, mainly due to cost, apple's walled garden and fear of the unknown. You can see why iphones are popular, they do most things well, easy to use and Apple's marketing department is market leading. This year I'll be going from iphone 14 pro to pixel 9 pro because I've been waiting for ever for a compact google flagship; after using pixel 3/5/6 pro and then moving to iphone 14 pro, on average, the pixel photos are more pleasing to the eye. Videos still not quite apple quality, but I take more photos than videos. Reason I moved was I didn't like the size of pixel pro to get the optical zoom, whereas iphone 14 pro almost the perfect form factor/size for me. Beef I have though is that my airtags will become practically useless, as will my iWatch SE (which I really like and for the price think is excellent; who need spo2 levels really anyway !?!?) so what do I though with those - I'm going to lose money selling them and I could pair with my work iphone SE, but thats not the point since I don't carry that all over. Really hate the way you can't use an iWatch with Android.. So whilst Apple clearly keep people tied to their ecosystem and likely makes huge wads of cash, for me, it will actually push me away for a longer period of time if I do go from iphone 14 pro to pixel 9 pro.... as I'll be likely buying a different smart watch, which chances are, will be kneecapped by apple ( not being able to store music on it easily or without extra cost)
As soon as Jobs passed you could see the focus stray. The first product release after that was titled “The New iPad”. It’s amazing how long they can drift off of one persons focus, guidance and vision. All of their innovations past Jobs have been copying other companies technologies. Behind the scenes they’ve plowed money into R&D and failed on auto (>$10B invested), AI (hiring it out) and who knows what else. What makes them unique now is just doing it better than everyone else… letting the market decide what they want. Will be interesting to see where they go in the future. I personally think they need a new CEO, which won’t happen.
😂 I had on and off issues with my fan, which they fixed, but couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t give me any long term damage so I pestered them for a replacement
Many of us can't justify the cost of apple products. I got my new-old-stock galaxy for 1/8 the price of a cheap iphone. No such purchase channel exists on the apple side. On the other hand, I got my 2010 imac i7 for $99. I run Debian, which doesn't care that the system is 14 years old.
"Does it matter whether you buy and iPhone or not." Yes. Yes it does. I work in the film industry and about 95% of my professional work contacts use iPhone. For some industries, you either use iPhone or get left behind. Granted, there are those that use android, but not a SINGLE person that a POC for work is on Android. I started off Android; I even had a Z Fold 4 which I then gave to my brother. The only reason why I stay with Apple is because of how encroaching it is in the higher life of American society. I want to reach that American Dream...unfortunately, it's hand and hand with Apple.
If you like technology you will use Android/Windows otherwise apple is your choice because it gives you some advantages as easy to use for a starter user
after being android flagship fan i switched to iphone 15 and it works i hope apple’s gonna comeback and pull something special👍 Man I hate if apple’s gonna not address this issues where other companies trying to solve those issues and making it better.,
I don't know why but my macbook just doesn't connect seamlessly and easily when I tether with my iPhone. It takes about 2 minutes for my mac to detect my iPhone hotspot! This has been the same since I started using iPhone XS Max to my current iPhone 15 Pro Max and after the 3 recent macbook Air iterations. What's ironic is that my macbook tethers seamlessly easy with an android Pixel phone!
I don't get the appeal of a closed ecosystem/walled garden. Time and money should rather be spent on open protocols so that everything works flawlessly with everything else.
Eh, I don’t think it’s that hard to switch phones. I have apps that are used for android & Apple, so I can switch to whatever phone fits my needs at the time. My only issue is there still isn’t a tablet out there that suits my needs as well as an iPad.
I’ve always used windows, I just bought my first Mac. I must say i rather enjoy their laptop OS. I already have a iPhone, watch, iPad. But I’m don’t see myself as a “loyal fan”; I mostly genuinely enjoy their products. However, I refuse to buy each new version; they are the boss for anything art related, such as photography and drawing.
I think where I worked in tech, and always told myself that I *needed* the latest & fastest version, so I'd never run into an issue where the technology was holding me back. But that of course comes at a pretty big cost! It sounds like you have a much better hold on things than I did ;)
@@PeteMatheson it takes control for sure haha, I still have the iPhone 13 Pro Max, more than sufficient. And their M1 chip Macs are highly efficient for an average user. I bought the M3 because I'm getting back into photography and I got tired of the quirks of windows, definitely don't hate windows however. Apple's OS shortcuts can't be rivaled imo
Wow. Brilliant. ❤ I actually loved this. Been in the comments of others videos recently, trying to argue Apple’s presence. But this sums it up beautifully. Going to have to link this when someone questions Apple’s motives. I’m usually here on recommendations from other tech TH-camrs, especially on knives and wallets, on iPhone accessories. But so glad I found this in the suggested videos. Right on, Pete! Rock on 🤘🏾
Three irreplaceable apple gadgets : iPhone, Airpods and MacBook. For me I never will buy an apple watch, it’s just not justified yet, same goes for iPad.
I think this is one of the Best Tech videos ever GREAT VIDEO WITH GREAT SCRIPT I wanna change from iphone to s24 ultra and i am stuck in the apple ecosystem 😢😢😢 Bravoooo Pete❤
Ah man, this comment made my day! Thank you!! 🙌🏼 Yeah, it takes a while, like, it's taken me about 4 years of trying to get to this stage of loving it... Lol
iPhone all the way. It’s the simple things that keep me coming back. Apple HomeKit for one. It’s very easy to use and create automations. Having my HomePods and Apple TV act as hubs is brilliant. My family all have iPhones, we recently just purchased the MacBook Air M2. I couldn’t afford to switch to another phone even if I wanted too, as the iPhone is the glue that binds the Apple ecosystem.
The main reason I have stayed with apple is because I hate google and I'm not techy enough to try to get a linux phone or deal with graphene os or any of the others. I just want a phone. But gosh I hate google.
The iphone has been so stagnant that if the 16 line up isn't a massive shakeup, I'm switching back to Android. I'll probably get the S25+ or whatever it is
Looks like you’ll be switching then the only thing the iPhone 16 will have is likely some AI features . Phones have plateaued mate. The galaxy s series isn’t anything revolutionary either.
I just think that Apple is a company that does computing differently and people like that. Sure it’s not open source but it just works for most people. The physical quality of its products matters to the mass consumer more than specs ever will. They aren’t perfect but I definitely enjoy personally how little i have to spend to have their products up and running.
Hey Pete, really a Great Video with a Thumbnail that creates Curiosity and the Video that answers it. I bought my First Apple Product, an iPhone 13 before 2 years. I am also planning on getting an Apple Watch X which is the only thing holding me from switching to Samsung!! I'm surely getting into the Apple Ecosystem slowly, haha
It's a slippery slope! haha. Watch is a great product though, it's the sticking point for many people who try and move away from an iPhone, because the watch is so good. Thanks for watching - and glad you liked the Title/Thumbnail/Video combo! Really appreciated
What a great video man, I enjoy how you explain with you user experience. In my case after using iPhone and Apple watch for years it was really hard to say goodbye to the ecosystem, Im enjoying the s24 ultra but I feel that something is missing in my life... I will probably return to the ecosystem in the future.
Do this test: Monitor what your Android phone pings vs what your iPhone pings. Your Android phone pings servers that would shock you. Apple is the only one with the *most* available privacy
I've always been into tech watching Star Trek as a kid, etc. I remember when the original iPhone came out. I could have afforded the $400 or whatever, but I just thought it was dumb at the time to spend $400 on a phone when I didn't do much calling, and very little texting. I probably would still be using a cheap flip phone if they didn't make you upgrade to a smartphone back when they did away with 3G.
I had the iPhone 3g, then the 4, then the 5, then I bought my first Android phone, the LG G3 and never looked back - Apple, IOS and the rest of their so called "ecosystem" are far too restrictive and locked down for me.
Apple products are too expensive for most of the world. They are very much fashion items, too. People use macbooks for tasks where they are not the right tool, so strong is the marketing pressure.
I don't want to get into a comment war with any Apple fans, but the whole ''It just works'' couldn't be further from the truth in my experience. I have a couple of ancient low spec Dell Optiplexs that (with Linux and a few tweaks) run better than any Mac i've ever had. I even ended up using one Mac Mini to prop a door open for ages, because that was honestly the only thing that it could reliably do. And @ 11:22 when Tim says that famous line ''Buy your mum an i-Phone'', all i hear is ''Let them eat cake'''. That says much more to me about the Apple experience. Got a tech issue? Then give Apple yet more money. And it never ends. The second i seriously said to myself that i will no longer buy Apple products, i had exactly the same feeling wash over me as when i committed to leaving an abusive relationship. Not that i am saying that any of the other tech giants are angels. But sometimes in life it's just about finding the product, service, or company that you hate the least, rather than actually like or love.
Haha, leaving an abusive relationship is a great analogy 😄 Out of interest, I have friends who have had similar experiences, but their only experience were with 3-5yr old Apple products whilst comparing to flagship Android devices. Were your issues with brand new like for like products?
Comparing an Apple product to a abusive relationship is wild, none of these companies force us to buy anything we choose to invest our money & time into these products
But to answer Pete's question (sort of), over the last 7 or 8 years i have had nearly a dozen smart phones, pads, and tablets, but i have recently downgraded to a £50 Nokia that barely qualifies as a smart phone. In fact, if it wasn't for one health related app that i really need, i would happily go back to a full on ''dumb-phone'' now. Smart phone makers seem intent on systematically getting rid of the features i like, whilst adding other features that i just have no use for, or some where i actually find the implications terrifying (most often issues around privacy and security, but not always that).
@@PeteMatheson I should have been more clear. Yes, most of my tech is 2nd hand refurbished. And i definitely realised that whatever age an Apple product was, it was ''premium'' at some point. Whereas Android is all over the shop. You definitely can't compare a budget Android device to anything else but garbage. But Google Pixels are another thing. What's weird though is that i definitely preferred the Pixel 3a to the 6a. I think you covered the Pixel 3a not to long ago. It's also capable of taking on more alternative operating systems than any other phone i know of. Maybe if i try a custom ROM for a while i might come back here with a whole new opinion.
"Samsung has innovated with flips and folds" lol. I work at a Samsung retail kiosk and those Flips and Folds account for about 10% of our sales and 50% of our service repairs. Horribly unreliable devices that break or stop working with unacceptable regularity. Not to mention those creases in the plastic film screen are just impossible to ignore. These devices are still years away from being ready for primetime.
I switched from Apple around 8 or more times ... in the end i just ended coming back , so i decided , no more switching , if something grabs my eyes.. well i will just ignore it , it will always be the same. Like the Apple watch , it is the best watch , no matter what others tell you , yes there are watches with batteries that will last you longer that 30 days but the Apple Watch , is the one that will give you better sensor , vibration and health data. I had from Galaxy watch 3 to 6 and Pixel watch 1 , Huawei Watch and the Xiaomi fit bit , nothing comes close. I understand that for some people battery and workout is most important . People that need to keep track on their health and pair their watch with medical devices like Qardio and Sibionics for blood sugar , will need Apple , since nothing else works with those devices , sure there are some apps and devices that work with Android and the Wear OS , however i found that 98% times , it either does not show the result and you will need to take a test again or it shows it but will give a false reading , like giving you 14 blood sugar when you have 8 , this is very dangerous. So yeah , i think Apple is better.
Yeah there are some very questionable quality products out there for sure! I get frustrated when switching a lot of the time, mainly because I switch so often, but I also really enjoy trying out all the different devices, it's really fun to see what every brand brings to the table and how they push tech forward 👍🏼
Ok, who's here? Have we got the iPhone or the Android owners in the house? 😅

Google Pixel 7a

I'll compare Apple sales to Huawei sales to illustrate this:
Huawei is the largest Chinese consumer tech company.
Ah man, thank you! Replying from my S24 ultra, lol.
I switched to z fold 5 and couldn't be happier. Didn't realize what I was missing switching to android.
I LOVE my S24 U, so happy I sold my 15PM so I could afford it 😂
For me it’s the combination of build quality, software integration, user experience and ecosystem is the winning formula for me. Sure there are better phones with bigger brighter screens, bigger cameras, better specifications etc. But I have more than a phone and Apple is the only company that offers all the products I need in my life.
Agree wholeheartedly. It's the 'whole package' thing that most Apple-haters don't really get sometimes.
Exact reason i'm finally switching over to the Iphone. Also realizing how powerful and well my Macbook Air has performed the last nearly 8 years!
Apple offers but a handful of products. I can appreciate your simple life without the need for devices, but it seems odd you need Apple stuff.
I guess if you live in a hotel and eat out, use dry cleaners etc then no need for more than and iPhone for ticktok 🤷♂️
I thought there is something in the background while watching this video. I figure it out that the sound is coming from this video. revolutionary!
This is an AMAZING video. Great editing, great music choice for the background, great everything. I have been a fan of the channel for a while now and I have to say this is your best video yet!
Man, thank you SO much for this comment!
Appreciate you watching. Super anxious about how this video would be received, and tried to make it as balanced as possible (as balanced as a video about apple could be...)
😁
whoaaa this was so well edited!
🔥 Ah thank you! I'm sure he'll see this comment but I'll pass it on to him. Super happy with how this one came out in the edit!
Well written, delivered and produced. I have older Mac, iPad and iPhone 13 and as you say they work seamlessly.
Thanks SO much man! Super proud of this video!
Bro the song in the intro🔥
Thank you! Working really hard at making these latest videos better 💪🏼
Such a magical documentary - with the punchline in the end...
Verry well written video pete and props to the editing 🤝🏻
I’ve had an iPhone since iPhone 4, I current have 13 Pro Max. For about the last 3-5 years iPhone has just been lacking. That connection to Apple and the ecosystem is what’s hard to leave. I’ve been wanting the S24U. I believe it’s the best phone on the market. How did you make the switch and stay away?
Just do it bro. It's hard but worth it
Most (like me) end up with two phones.
I sold my 15PM and IPad, got a S24 U and Tab S9. They work so well together. The one iphone I will never get rid of, is my 13 mini.
I do think if I wasn't doing this then I'd probably just have stuck with Apple for convenience, but I'm glad to have pushed outside of the Apple world and see what else there is!
amazing music choice, it introduces the video so well. Very well done!
The background music for this video gave such a vibe! Nice work Pete
Thank you! Working hard to make these videos better and better
I'm actually more impressed you have licensed music in a cell phone video without the songs getting removed
You just pay for each use of the song :)
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed watching it 😀
coming from years of samsung and other androids, im also very bored with them expecting them to degrade after a few months or years. meanwhile all of my friends who have apple products even though some aren't up to the latest iOS version are still very fine with their iphones. now that i've reached a point that i can actually try owning an iphone i finally understood why. sure, it may not have the best of everything but it's got the right mixture of everything that you don't really think about it most of the time and you just integrate it with your life.
Pete it's simply your best video on apple products I've seen in years.
Thank you! That means a lot!
Coldplay is the best band. I was like wait am i hearing fix you at the end? Even before the sing came in.
🙌🏼
Well made video. I just went from the iPhone X to the 14 pro max. I don’t feel so behind now lol. Awesome phone. Can’t stop using as of now 😅.
haha, welcome to the future! And thanks for watching / commenting, glad you liked the video!
Okay but that triple display iMac + Thunderbolt Display setup looks amazing....
ohh it WAS! (back in the day) lol. I'd much rather a single ultrawide nowadays though, but it was a fun setup
S24 Ultra isn't much better than the iPhone 15 pro max to be honest
any android is. Because they dont run ios.
@@feuerherz007📠
S24 ultra have too much features and iphone cannot use the split screen and multiwindow, so what is benefits powerfull processor.😅
What is benefits powerfull processor cannot use split screen and multiwindow features.
Samsung is miles ahead of Apple 😂 there's not even a comparison.
Shame here . S24 ultra is a fantastic phone but I ways go bk to using my iphone 🙄
Thanks Jess! Agree entirely :)
It's always the way! Haha
People are getting bored or iPhone and updating less and less. Very few upgrades per year. Rather just get battery upgraded for $89 and call it new
On a meta quest are you talking about the materials that is made out of all you talk about the software?
Beautifully put together video. I tried iOS, wasn't my cup of tea, but i cannot deny the fact that the whole Apple ecosystem is something remarkable.
That ending was COLD….
the quality of this video is actually insane. feels illegal to watch for free
Dude, this (and all the other comments like this) are making my day
Best reaction to a video I've made so far. So pleased you enjoyed it!
@@PeteMatheson i used to just watch ur videos before but this one made me subscribe, so keep it up
Nah I don't understand it. Used iphones from the iPhone 4s and got the iPhone 15 pro max. Traded it in got the fold 5 and not looked back. It's not that hard to switch if you want to
I would rather use the the iphone 15 pro max over the s24 ultra any day
Apple, like any company, will only bring new innovations when required to keep ahead of the competition.
I wouldn't argue that the s24+ or ultra, or the pixel 8 pro are better than the iPhone. But I know which I enjoy using the most. And it's not iPhone.
I’ve screenshotted this comment - very well put!
As someone who has completely switched to their ecosystem after being fed up by Droids and Windows, for me they have.
I couldn't agree more. My journey with Apple started with the MacBook Pro in 2007 and an iPod. Yeah, the rest is all history. Countless times, like many of us, I've tried to switch phones, but it's almost like there's a piece of a puzzle missing.
Thanks for watching! MacBook Pro is a difficult one to beat, let’s see if the next gen chips are all as good as they say they are - interesting times!
Don't really understand that psyco dependence of people who completely on Apple's hook and its services. Really limited possibilities of Apple's OSs.
Most people who are busy with their lives and jobs don't care about tinkering or the extensive customisation you get on Android. As long as the main functions work and it's reliable.
Not to be that guy, but Apple as a company is duplicitous and notorious for anti-consumer practices.
Vote with your wallet.
Interested... What anti-consumer practices are you thinking about?
I feel typing on iPhone is a nightmare. Calculator is also a complete mess. I prefer Andorid phones for these two...
nice comment a person actually saying wuy they chose samsung instead of just saying they hate apple.
My iPad was my first stepping stone into the Apple ecosystem
I struggle to find a use for the iPad, except the iPad mini - which is incredible!
Next time you dismiss a device by any company, just tell me. Ok? 😂
This video hit different. Well written Pete 👌🏽
As many, I feel exactly the same and have gone through the same (with the addition of the HomePods too) 😅
Thanks you so much! I loved filming this one! A bit of a departure from my usual reviews but I’m glad it landed well :)
issue is that people think they're getting/buying the 'best' product for them and don't like to think they've not got it - confirmation bias etc.
So whilst Apple clearly keep people tied to their ecosystem and likely makes huge wads of cash, for me, it will actually push me away for a longer period of time if I do go from iphone 14 pro to pixel 9 pro.... as I'll be likely buying a different smart watch, which chances are, will be kneecapped by apple ( not being able to store music on it easily or without extra cost)
love your videos since the odyssey ultraultrawide reviews. do you use final cut for editing?
Thank you! Yes we're using FCP for editing :)
Apple takes the strategy of never giving up on an idea, they’ll just take egg on their face and try again
Don't ask questions just consume products and be excited for more products
Yes Tim!
the quality of the video is just so nice cant belive its so high quality and detailed
❤️ thanks for this!! Appreciate you watching and so glad you enjoyed it 🙌🏼
iPhone is the gateway drug indeed, but for anyone who used an M1 Air as their first Apple in recent years... It is the best drug.
6:33 definitely never got that sort of treatment with my MacBook pro lol.
I want to reach that American Dream...unfortunately, it's hand and hand with Apple.
why does it matter though? And what's by your definition a POC?
If you like technology you will use Android/Windows otherwise apple is your choice because it gives you some advantages as easy to use for a starter user
more likely Android/Linux
Yeah Apple really cooked our brains 😔
Can’t deny that their long term marketing strategy was on point! But yeah, agreed!
after being android flagship fan i switched to iphone 15 and it works i hope apple’s gonna comeback and pull something special👍 Man I hate if apple’s gonna not address this issues where other companies trying to solve those issues and making it better.,
60hz display for $800? Yuck
Bro this video makes me feel happy to own an iPhone for some reason I swear my eyes are even getting teary😭
😂 one of my favourite comments so far, haha, thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed this one 😀🙌🏼
Wow. Brilliant. ❤
I actually loved this.
Rock on 🤘🏾
Wow, thank you! 🙏
Apple died when steve jobs died.
Three irreplaceable apple gadgets : iPhone, Airpods and MacBook. For me I never will buy an apple watch, it’s just not justified yet, same goes for iPad.
I think this is one of the Best Tech videos ever
GREAT VIDEO WITH GREAT SCRIPT
I wanna change from iphone to s24 ultra and i am stuck in the apple ecosystem 😢😢😢
Bravoooo Pete❤
Ah man, this comment made my day! Thank you!! 🙌🏼
Yeah, it takes a while, like, it's taken me about 4 years of trying to get to this stage of loving it... Lol
iPhone all the way. It’s the simple things that keep me coming back. Apple
HomeKit for one.
I'll probably get the S25+ or whatever it is
I think a lot of people are feeling the same!
Looks like you’ll be switching then the only thing the iPhone 16 will have is likely some AI features . Phones have plateaued mate. The galaxy s series isn’t anything revolutionary either.
apple has great hardware, its just the software features that other phones have more of.
I'm surely getting into the Apple Ecosystem slowly, haha
and I agree that Apple hasn't been Innovating in iPhones!!
Thanks dude!
Do this test: Monitor what your Android phone pings vs what your iPhone pings. Your Android phone pings servers that would shock you. Apple is the only one with the *most* available privacy
Apple really should have patented their ideas, this way the androids couldn't copy their work and not get sued for it
I have the iPhone 15 Pro max and couldn’t be happier with it
Some android phones take better photos probably but iOS for me is unbeatable
Absolutely! Each to their own, and I still think the iPhone is a superb phone 👌🏼
Apple won once the iPhone 4/4s came out
The OG iPhone was revolutionary to the tech world and it’s no argument to that
Exactly.
Although wasn't it the 4 that had the bumper cases due to signal issues? Lol
I looked back at the prices. Mad to think the first few phones were 199. It sounds so cheap in comparison to today's prices!
I missed when Apple asked you to do the survey about their products within the first week you got the new product. Whatever happened to that?
I still get emails about new products when I buy them, might be something you unsubscribed from one time?
@@PeteMatheson I’m not sure… maybe I need to but something new to test that haha! 😂
Apple isn’t slowly losing their way, they fully lost it around the same time that the M series launched. Hopefully they will find it again.
Haha, leaving an abusive relationship is a great analogy 😄
Out of interest, I have friends who have had similar experiences, but their only experience were with 3-5yr old Apple products whilst comparing to flagship Android devices.
Apple may have won, but they lost me.
Or they already had their prime time and fulfilled their purpose?
Awesome video mate!
Ah thank you man! So glad so many people are enjoying and engaging on this one :)
No wonder you’re an apple fan boi man , having owned the original.
Haha! Exactly!
