Can’t complain that the algorithm decided I’m going down a Conan rabbit hole today
Pool of the Black Ones is my favorite Conan story. The Black Ones really struck me as some kind of ancient alien race and gave the story an amazingly creepy atmosphere.

It was my second Conan Story, gosh it was ironically refreshing to consume media that just didn't have any modern censorship. I mean I know better like most people who enjoy REH (hopefully) but the part where he spanks the girl to get her running out before the water gets them made me audibly laugh

Grim as far as I'm concerned you ARE an authority on Conan and can't mess it up. Conan is much like Lovecraft to me with an open mythos that is meant to be added to, it is meant to be expanded upon by people that love it and care for it. Robert Howard will always be the god of Conan and no fan would ever want it any other way but new stewards have had to come and go thru the years post-Howard and Conan has flourished under a stewardship. If someone were to ask me who is the authority or steward of Conan in 2024 I would immediately say Grim Dark is.
The thing that matters to me is you care, like you really really care. I'd take your theory crafting as canon conan without a second thought.

Hey mate! Don't be too harsh on yourself! As you've said many times, what you're doing requires a lot of theory crafting. Some might like some things, some might not both are ok. The worse thing one could do is try to make something that makes everyone happy; it will only lead to making things bland.
Besides, you're doing the most important thing and that's respecting the spirit of the material you're taking inspiration from.

Your passion and love for it always radiates through the videos as you explain and theorycraft, I have fallen in love with the Hyborian age thanks to your videos and the Acheron video which made me discover your channel! You can't mess the Conan videos up so long as you keep pouring all the love you have for it in them! Nothing beats the joy and excitement we can hear in your voice in each of these videos!

This was such a great video!!! While I was reflecting on my recent exploration of the "pools of the grey ones" in Conan Exiles i started wondering--what ARE these "grey ones"? Well, this video completely answered every question save--why are they on the isle of Siptah.
Truly excellent video. Loved every minute of this fascinating aspect of RE Howard's world. Only critique id have is the cards/text regarding different topics (while cool mind you!) were a bit hard to read due to the darker color/black font. But later, for example Yog, you showed that one closer up/zoomed so it was easier to read.
Man this was an incredible lore video. Can't wait to watch more from your channel. And best of all, theyre entirely HALF OFF 😂 (pun intended) ❤

Funny : when I first envisioned the dark ones, i was considering them more like mere archetypes of a questionable Eurocentric anthropology or groovy spooky mummies from the shadow realm... But this theory of they Canon Lore and Crafting Theory its a new brand level of revelations!!! Trully Pure Grimdark Wild! It is also incredibly curious how Howard reinterprets, exposes and complements, despite the sociocultural anthropological limitations of the time, some of the African cultures and other ancient civilizations within his universe of primal sword and savage witchcraft... That is, how he integrates that dualism of the cosmic horror of the unknown with the wonderful brutality of barbaric savagery and the cycles of ever changing civilizations...Simply Marvelous Work as Always by Crom, Mitra and the Wild Elder Gods!!!
Also intrigued idea of a Bestiary about the unique, peculiar and brutal beasts of the world of Conan!!! Yay!!!

They've also had many incidents of "goblin attacks" most recently a rural police station and girl's school were abandoned to goblins.
