hahaha YES MY FELLOW DEFENDER FRIENDS FEEL THE FRUSTRATION, BUT LISTEN!! THOU SHALL NEVER GIVE THAT BTCH UP.. You run after those bastards and if you need to take down both you will take down both and stand atop of them, laughing at their stupid faces while they lay down on the ground cuz you put them there! As a defender myself and I’ve been victimto this😂 when the team is well drilled you have to be calm patient and be able to anticipate the pass depending were the ball is. Pay attention to the players movement and not only the ball. If you only follow the ball you will most likely go get it in the net😂🤣
As a coach. This is so hard to teach. You don’t plan these plays, but you have to teach people the basis of how to make this natural. 1) hunger. All players need to be hungry to find space. No complacency. It’s mentally tiring to be always searching for pockets of space, but you need to do it. 2) tactics. You need to know what to look for. If a player is running towards you, go in the opposite or perpendicular direction. If a player is on your left shoulder, receive the ball with your right. 3) skills. Anyone can pass the ball, but can you do it with the right weight, direction and under pressure? 90% passing accuracy is not good enough, you need to be at 95%+ skills to be able to depend on that or else you lose the ball and get countered. 4) physicality. All those lunges and stop start runs is tiring. But it’s the only way to get a metre of space away from your opponent.
You said it all. That’s why it is not so easy to set up in your team. I would add that it can also be dangerous for your team if not done perfectly. Because, if you lose the ball, it won’t be on a side or in the opposite 16. It will be at the center of the field with only the last defensive line left (which will often be high on the ground). So it’s highly effective with the right players, but also high risk. No mistakes allowed
@@cinow24, great point. It's why Sergio Busquets was so crucial to Barcelona. He was able to absorb so much pressure and never give up the ball. It was managed risk.
The reason you see Messi a lot is because tiki-taka is Barcelona’s main play style, tons of passes and lots of possession, while Ronaldo is best at counter attacking, scoring off turnovers or the fast break in NBA terms
It's pronounced "Teekee Taka" Also the reason you keep seeing Messi is because his team Barcelona adopted and normalized Tiki Taka in spanish and world football
There's a lot of communication within the game you can't hear. But ever single player is talking out loud. Teammates are the eyes behind your back. As a teammate you yell and tell your teammate(s) what to do and where to go for a better play to be executed or best for the squad. Don't forget that in Futbol, unlike most sports, you don't necessarily have to go towards goal, but try to keep possession and tire the opponent out then score. So when you asked "how do you know he's behind you" is because someone told him he was. They make it look easy I know but it takes more than skill, it's all teamwork.
also, they've done these drills thousands of times, they know eachother inside and out. Even without communication, they know eachothers behaviours and playing patterns very well.
It is trained movement and possesion combined with instinct and muscle memory. So there s both factors to take into account. So basically you re both right
FYI, “Tiki-taka” (the expression) was invented by Spanish (NBA and then) soccer narrator Andres Montes. It was during the World Cup of 2006 and the first time he said that it was referred to the Brazilian National Team. Then it was used generally for every team that based their game on continuous passing and long possessions, like Barcelona and Spain a couple years after that. Andres Montes was really famous in Spain because he invented nicknames for every player, at the beginning in the NBA, and then in soccer: - Tiburón Pujol - ET Pau Gasol - Jordan Airlines - Sweet Iniesta - “I do whatever I want, whenever I want, and whatever I please” Shaq - Ratatatatatatatataaaaaa!!! (Clutch 3-pointer from far away) He was a piece of art! Worth the watch!
You're right. The idea behind the tiki-taka offense is creating triangles to break the press. But because there's 11 players on a team, whoever has the ball is always part of more than one triangle (if that makes sense)
good explanation of the difference between football and basketball. You can maybe (rarely) get a bball example where 4 players are part of 2 triangles, but the possibilities in football, with 10 players and a far bigger playing area, are basically endless.
It’s basically the way the San Antonio Spurs played the entire 2014 year with pop. Pass and move to find space but they keep ball possesion. Like a constant passing offense. The Barcelona team from 2008 till 2012 was almost impossible to get the ball from them they had like crazy ball possession each game. To play like this you have to have players who are very good dribblers, who have good ball control and who can move and find open space very well basically read the lines. Not every team can play like that because they don’t have the players or the system to play like that
This is spot on.. there’s a video on TH-cam named San Antonio Spurs Tribute - The Beautiful game.. y’all should watch it. That 2014 team is one of my favorite teams of all time.. passing passing and more passing.. I swear Ginobili was both Iniesta and Xavi that season, the passes he pulled off were insane.
it's actually incredible how y'all literally described perfectly the tiki-taka and the positional game, it's basically knowing where your teammates are even without looking, and by that you find the free player
This is pep guardiola's style of play he perfected it at Barca and has been successful every where he's been playing that style even in the premier League where people where claiming he couldn't get a team to play that style due to the premier League being physical but he's done it. One of the all time great coaches doesn't get the credit he deserves
@@mohamedawaale5532 it’s because he is *so* integrated in the team, and does the job so well without fault, that he tends to be overlooked. He has truly mastered basic football to a t
So you are saying timing taka only exists with xavi, iniesta, and messi? Lol you know how dumb that sounds? First off, the tiki taka came from a dutch player, johan cruyff. He came to barcelona and integrated that style. Besides xavi, iniesta, and messi being great players, they grew up being tought that style from coaches who were coached by cruyff..witch in this case is pep Guardiola. It's not like xavi and and iniesta came in one day and said "hey were gonna play like this" they just mastered it the best. But other players like pique, puyol, dani alves, rakitic, neymar, pedro, david villa, busquets, deco, ronaldinho, they all played the tiki taka very well. But the most important thing is to have a coach that has everyone doing their job and knowing where to be, and having a clear gameplan. And pep Guardiola had a very clear gameplan, witch made xavi, iniesta, messi, busqets, dani alves job more easy. So stop acting like it was only xavi iniesta and messi. It's more then that.
@@rafaelguasp1141 I never answered and I won't do it again, I answer to you just to clarify that question (sorry for my "eng" but I use google, I hope you understand what I mean). *-So you are saying timing taka only exists with xavi, iniesta, and messi?* No I'm not saying that, what I say is that it's easy (so to speak, obviously nothing is easy) propose a style of play as the tiki-taka when you have Messi, two of the best and most complete midfielders of last years (Xavi and Iniesta) and to them add a central midfielder like Busquets, strong exteriors on the wings like Dani Alves and Abidal, in the middle Piquet and Puyol and I could go on. It's hard to explain the concepts clearly for me (because my "eng") but what I mean is that no matter how good and innovative Guardiola is (and he is), the difference in a team is made by the players, you can play well (for sure not like that Barca) but you will not go down to the history and know why? Because you wouldn't win anything without those players and the "legendary" tiki-taka would be judged differently (the proof, talking about Guardiola, is what happened with Bayern before and now with City).
Tiki Taka first started when Johan Cruyff was Barcelona manager, but when Pep Guardiola took that role he adopted the style and advanced it to what we know today, the term Tiki Taka was first used in 2006 by a Spanish broadcaster named Andrés Montes. the style became the trademark of the Barca club where all Barca school players train to play in this style.
6:34 "Why not just do this the whole game?" Answer: Because it's very, very difficult. First of all, the precision of the passes must be right on. Second, it requires players to be fit well beyond demands of typical football fitness - which are already extremely high. Third, the players must know each other and each other's thoughts and moves to an absurd, almost telepathic level. It's far more complex and difficult to master than a basketball give-and-go or pick-and-roll. But you are correct. The philosophy is similar. It is more like Bobby Knight's motion offense than Phil Jackson's triangle. The quick movement from player to player is meant to work the defense into losing its shape, or its continuity. Then, when the defense lapses or bites too hard, an attacker without the ball finds himself in empty space and a threatening position. Think of it like playing a lot of high post screens and waiting for the backdoor cut. Same principle. There's a reason why this is the specialty of the best club team in the world. You gotta be really, really good to pull it off.
6:29 actually it's pretty hard to practice this style. Barcelona had pretty skillful midfielders like Xavi and Iniesta, and very technical forwards like Messi, Neymar and Suarez. Your team also needs a lot of stamina to be able to move back and forth the whole game.
“Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is.” Cruyff. The thing about tiki taka is that it is very hard to execute. the players not only need the skill to do one touch passing you also need the vision to know where the bal needs to go before it arrives at your feet. even then it is quite easy to defend unless there is a lot of moment without the ball. The only way for this too work is to have players in the team who are willing to run behind the defense before the ball arrives, they need to trust their teammates to see their run and pass the ball on time so they get it just at the moment before they go offside. A way more effective style of play is high press on the opposing defence. If you intercept the ball close to their goal their defense is often out of position and you only need 1 key pass to get in scoring position, this gets way more chances than the tiki taka style where teams pass the ball around a lot.
"How did he know he was there?": Vision and positioning plus experience of course. The Tiki Taka technique was made popular by coach Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.
I love the way your reaction to these videos is genuine and fun , not just over reacting to every little thing also thanks for showing love to this sport , keep it up !!!!!!!!
Crazy how you guys made these connections. It’s exactly like the triangle. It’s an ideology. One touch passes and finding space in between defenders and staying in position to accept passes from teammates. Takes years and so much skill to perfect. And it is ALL freestyle! Creativity and expression. Xavi, Messi, and iniesta destroyed my team with this in the champions league final.
It's actually termed positional play and it's the main element of used by teams to keep possession of the ball and move it freely pass the opposition. The main element of positional play is positioning or off-the-ball movement. The players understand that even if they are not directly involved in the play, they can help their team by being in the correct position. Players can also create space for their teammates or drag opposition players out of their position with clever off-the-ball movement.
Barcelona tiki taka is so precise cuz all the players play with each other since their youth academy days & they play for the same nationality too mostly spanish, Argentinian & dutch players play for barca & some french & Brazilian too
Fire reaction like always! Love that you guys take the time to appreciate the video and break it down. I feel like I’m chilling with the boys when I’m watching your videos💪🏽 thanks for keeping it real fellas
Actually Tiki Taka was coined by a spainish national coach, Javier Clemente. After that during the 2006 World Cup, an spanish TV commentor called Andrés Montes (known previously for commentate NBA in Spain) used the expresion to define the Spanish play during the competition. This style finally payed off for the Spanish team at the 2008 Eurocup, 2010 World Cup and 2012 Eurocup. The media adopted and it means a style to teamplay, giving priority to pass the ball and move the game like that. The point is that a mooving ball can be always faster than any defence or can breach in faster than any player running. So if you have people that can execute and control fast and quick passes with a coordinated moovement and possitionting you have it. Another key was to maintain the possesion of the ball as much as you can. This tenchique was mastered by Barcelona FC and the Spanish National Team between 2006 and 2014 (mainly because most of midfielders, like Xavi or Iniesta, came from Barcelona FC to play in the national team). This tactic has been mainly developed in La Masia, the Barcelona FC training center for the younglings. A school that follows the style of Johan Cruyff, who played and then coach for Barcelona. He was a Ducht that played during the 70s known for the Dutch style called Total Football. The Netherland National team in the 70s known as the Clockwork Orange has been the base for the Football in Barcelona. Hence tiki-taka AKA tiquitaca is the Spanish evolution to that Dutch style which I totally recommend you to check. I'm from Spain were Football(not soccer) is a real big thing and I really enjoy your videos. It seems to me funny to watch two dudes from the States that may haven't seen too much European or South American Football to get interested about it. Keep it doing it's really cool.
When u grow playing soccer like we do down here in south america, the tiki taka style becomes natural, it's like a sense you develop in the game, also you can't hear, but we are always talking to each other always! it's a team game so people are telling you were they are and were they gonna be all the time with little words like ''I'm here''' we shout all the time, we even play in a tiki taka kind of game in our schools, also another thing that's really normal when you are young in south america is that we play every day when we are young and when we grow we still do at least 2-3 times a week it's our sport and our hobby of preference.
Tiki taka is difficult.usually effective if the midfielders are a mix of experienced and naturally gifted players. Xavi, iniesta and messi made barca a monster in midfield. Tiki taka extreme.
Tik Taka is a reference to the clock hands cause they move perfectly as a clock. Its about keep the possession of the ball looking for spaces to create offensive opportunities. Barcelona was the team who normalized Tiki Taka. They'd keep the possession of the ball for the whole match so it was hard to score against them because your team wouldnt have the ball to try offensive plays.
glad you enjoyed that last one. wilshere vs norwich is straight fire still one of my favorite goals of all time. kinda lame that they didn't include more arsenal clips, though they did get most of the important ones. shout out from a gunners fan.
It was so effective Barcelona won every single possible competition in one year, 6 trophies. That's until Mourinho's Inter de Milan found the way to defeat it: strong, well positioned defence with pretty much the whole team (aka 'parking the bus') and a couple fast wingers to counterattack once the attacking team is deep in your half of the pitch.
For americans : Tiki Taka is just like Triangle offense in football/soccer, Triangle shaped passing based strategy to create space. Both has similar success. Chicago won Six NBA Championships while Barcelona won six Major trophies (La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions league, Super Spanish Cup, Super Europe cup, and Fifa world cup) in one year 2009. Subsequently Barcelona also won another La liga in 2010, 2011, 2012, Copa del Rey 2011, 2012 and Champions league in 2011 Spain soccer National team adopted tiki taka as well and won European Cup (2008, 2012) twice and one World Cup (2010)
The original "tiki-taka" (pronounced "tee-kee taka") came from Spain national team trained by Luis Aragones where was a lot of players of Barcelona team. Is a play on words, a pun with the spanish word "toque" that mean "touch" because this way of playing is a lot of ball circulation and good touches. The term came on live from a spanish comentarist exalted by the way of playing from Spain national team in 2008 (the team was the best from 2008 to 2012). "Vamos con un buen toque, y otro toque, y toque y tiki y taka..." "Lets go with a good touch (of ball), and another touch, and touch and touchy and toucha..." This is where the term come from.
A few keyboard shortcuts for TH-cam. Press "J" to rewind a video up to 10 seconds i believe. Press "K" to play/pause a video and press "L" to fast forward a video.
Tiki taka and triangle offense were developed in the early 90s. Jackson did it so that the ball always moved until a player was in a comfortable spot, and It didn’t always have to be Jordan or pippen. Barcelona did it so they didn’t have to move much at all and they always had the ball. Can’t get scored on if the opponent never has the ball, so they PRESSURE on defense to keep that rhythm on offense
Tiki taka is more than just the give and go. There's an aspect of it that's about keeping possession and waiting for the spaces to open up - passing the ball around makes the other team get out of position and leave gaps in the back, for example. Pep Guardiola's Barcelona took it to another level, they could basically defend while holding onto the ball just by knocking it around for several minutes while the other team ran themselves into the ground.
Tiki Taka is a style of play that Pep Guardiolla adopted and perfected at Barca at the beginning of his coaching career, and the reason of that success is having amazing player who made it possible, like Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, buesqets, Dani alves, and fabregas. Tiki Taka is all about creating triangles in midfield and make the most amount of passes to tire the defending team by making them run after the ball, until they create an opening, and when the do, other teammates make runs and get the ball passed to them to take the chance of scoring a goal as quickly as possible, and also by keeping the triangles between the attackers for short and through passes. Although this style of play was invincible to play against, there are defending methods to beat it, and that is simply by dropping back all the defenders around the 18 yard box, and close the gaps between defenders. This method is known as (Park The Bus). Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan did it in 2009/2010 agains Barca in Champions League Semifinals and won the game.
Tiki-Taka was the spanish version of the so-called 'passing game'. The passing game was invented in football by the scottish nobody knows exactly when, in the late 19th century. During the 20th century the best representatives of this style were the Austrians during the 30s, Argentinians in the 40s, Hungarians in the 50s, Brazilians in the 60s (they called it 'Jogo Bonito', Beautiful Game), Dutch in the 70s... in 2008 Spain won the European Cup for National Teams playing this kind of football, the spanish broadcaster Andrés Montes named it Tiki-Taka
Tiki taka is a way for the team with the ball to disrupt the defending team’s organization. The point is to move the ball quickly between players so that one defending player moves out of position and create the open space for the next ball to be played in. Once that one defender takes even one step out of place, the offense has already won. It’s beautiful to watch and even better to be apart of when it works
Tiki taka is a way of playing that FC Barcelona and the spanish national team (influenced by the players from FCB selected) popularized in the worl of football from 2006. It consists in controlling the game continuously moving the ball, not loossing the possession, making a more horizontal game
Football IQ is just different. Players just have a sense of where their teammates are/will be, and there is a feeling of where and when to play the pass or make a run. It's so complex that it is challenging to simplify. Like Peps Barcelona squad, they adopted total football, allowing all players of all positions to feel comfortable and confident to move anywhere on the pitch. That's why you see Messi receive the ball so deep in the midfield and then either end up scoring in the box or have another midfielder/attacker finish the job. It truly is an art because of how difficult it is to execute.
There are couple things to tiki taka. First thing is something you spotted: triangles. Not just one, but many triangles. At all times you're part of several triangles of players moving around forming and reforming, and ball keeps being passed along those. The second is that movement: at no time you're really static, your movement without a ball is huge part of it: making yourself available for pass, going for various options that might or might not happen. It's all very dynamic and fluid, and while nothing is really scripted you kind of know where the ball might go, and you train to basically cover all the possible options. Third thing is no set formation, really. There's usually general shape, but tiki taka is very much evolution of total football mentality, meaning all players basically can and will cover all other positions whenever the game makes them. In tiki taka it's not uncommon to see pretty much all players except for keeper out of their position. Fourth thing is tempo. You have to manage the tempo of the game, sometimes slow down for a while passing the ball around the box, and basically out of nowhere suddenly accelerate getting through in 1 pass because you found that one chink in the armor for through ball. And finally, the most important part that will enable you to play tiki taka... everyone has to be extremely good passer. It will only work if you can consistently make a first touch pass under pressure of a defender. Players like Xavi, that made tikitaka work, would have couple hundred passes per game with >95% pass completion, and that 5% would be some risky through ball etc. Pretty sure Busquets at some point had something like 120+ passes completed in a game and 100% pass completion. That's what it takes to make tiki taka work, because if you fuck up, you're often very up the field and counter WILL murder you. It's also what led to gegenpressing: you put more pressure on the players further up, and you do it all game long, making them screw up more and giving you chances (granted gegenpress in offense is quite similar to tikitaka except a bit more direct).
From Wikipedia "Is a style of play in soccer characterized by the use of short and precise passes in transitions, constant search for space and movement of the ball, and the maintenance of possession" Its a very simple idea: if you control the ball possession most of the time and you have good players eventually there´s more chances to score or at least drain the adversary energy chasing the ball (most of the time its just that: passing and waiting for a gap or an error in defense to attack) Its a good strategy, requires LOOOTS of training and knowing well your teamates and its very effective when its well applied but its not unbeateable
it's mostly a team-playing style. it's usually about keeping possession and combining passes with your teammates to either get out of pressure, or attack. nowadays, due to the pressure top teams are able to put on the opposite side, Tiki Taka is gradually banishing, making physical attributes and individual skills more important than possession and combinations. new football basically. Bielsa, Leeds' manager, is probably one of the few managers that are still able to use this playing style effectively. you should check him out. he's a genius.
Combination of practice, skill, chemistry and communication on the pitch creates the beautiful art of tiki taka. A technique that has been used by many teams but mastered and created by Barcelona. That’s why you see so much Messi. Tiki taka is the form of creating multiple triangles on the pitch to always give the ball holder an option. And by doing so players are able to move with quick passes and throw off the defense. The right way to say it is how you guys said it at the end.
For not knowing the idea of tiki-taka you have excellent insights for a first time watcher. Tiki-taka is beautiful when executed by world class players, you almost have to be world class to make it work
Although - tiki-taka is definitely not a set play, it's just a style of play, they're always close together in order to make the quick one or two touch passes. Super difficult to execute.
Lol it's not drawn up. When you are on the field and you've been playing with the same teammates you develop an understanding of their runs and movements off the ball. Plus there is constant communication on the field that you would hear from watching these videos. But you guys draw good basket parallel that shows you have some grasp of what tiki taka is. Good on yous
Now Bayern Munich are basically the Gods of Europe (so basically best club in the world, their squad is OP af) and Liverpool are like a close second. Barcelona had some issues last year and are going through a sort of rebirth phase, but Barça (Messi's team) were basically the Gods of football for more than a whole decade, probably one of the best teams of all time and most fun to watch.
Cool video. Cool to see non-soccer players appreciate the beautiful game. One tip, if I may, get some carpet or blankets or drapes to improve your audio quality. The carpets/blankets lessen the sound waves and make it less echo-y. The more the better. And put the mic a little closer to yourselves if you can. You should notice improved sound quality. Hope that's helpful.
It’s called trusting your teammates. Thiery Henry said it best when he explained Guardiola’s coaching methods . The 3P’s passing possession and position, he also stated that you always had to trust your teammates to pass, to have possession and to be in the right position at all times . Hence forth very valuable to play tiki taka PS : Messi , Xavi , Iniesta and Busquets, don’t really like busquets much but these guys were the pioneers of tiki taka
Once in a 5 a side match I had such control that I was laughing, literally out loud laughing, going around and through people. Did get kicked after that cos the opposition doen't like humiliaton. I remember 'don't let him shoot' just before I blasted it into the bottom left from the right.
It becomes easier when you have good team chemistry, you know how the teammates around you are gonna move and it’s also a lot about being aware of your surroundings, most of the top level players tend to always be looking around to see who is where, teammates and opponents, and where they can squeeze the ball through to get to the open man and then they move into space to be able to receive a pass, it’s all about your awareness and team chemistry, the older Barcelona team used this a lot because it’s pretty effective if you can move the ball quickly and not allow the defense to set up
Thats the Dutch school of football baby. The whole world doing it now lol but back in the day it was killer. Its actually a colapsing diamond instead of just a triangle. So the midfield colapses either left or right depending on where the ball is to always create a man or 2 man advantage. And if you go from midfield to forward the diamond also colapses forward. It works the same for defense but ofc then you are defending lol
Ok great connection between phill Jackson and this.... great job!!! If you watch other videos on this style it’s about triangles. It’s all about triangles.
Tiki-Taka was OP af and taking over the world of football from 2008-2015 along with its best users, FC Barcelona (Messi's team) and the Spanish national team (which also had tons of Barça players at the time). Now i guess it has become more about diffrent kinds of pressing, you should look into that too.
It’s about positions, it’s freestyle. When the ball is set in motion like that, the players are in motion also. More times you tiki taka to attack and get a goal(to get a goal you’re moving towards your opponents goalpost) so yes you keep moving till you score or finally lose the ball.
tiki taka is basically about rotation of positions and quick passing to find free space and cut behind defense. Pep Guardiola as coach of barcelona around 2010´s brought it to its finest.
This form of playing has been going for years , when i started playing at a young age my father always told me to receive and pass the ball that way players won’t hurt me and I will look good at doing things by keeping it simple. It’s just pretty much a pass n go looking for open spaces. But if you have been doing it for years you can do tiki taka with anyone on new team or new players you just met. Just you and your teammates have to understand and read the plays. Also when I was playing club my coaches will get pissed asf if we didn’t have the ball in motion too. Like your videos mane keep it up.
Ive read some comments its not necessarily free style, some players learn this trough skill and chemistry witch is the most necessary thing to execute tiki taka well. Bad teams just defend and kick it foward and hope someone scores. But a player with lesser quality can also execute this trough training drills consisting of triangulations of 2/3/4 players so it is very important for players to be well positioned and follow the flow of the tikit taka up in empty spaces to create passing lines and always look around before the ball gets to you so you can execute a pass, communication is also essencial those heel flicks you saw the only way of defending this is placing 11 players behind the ball or having a well drilled high press. Im not an expert I’ve just played a lot of football/soccer in various teams it’s very fun to do!! Hope this was helpful.
Tiki Taka is so beloved cause it's such pure, sleak, attractive soccer. But yeah, it's not done all the time cause it's difficult for everyone to be perfectly on the same page, aware of each other and getting the right weighted pass. Coaches have been able to somewhat adapt to it; defenders just have to mark the runner.
its not that they are set plays , but the teams that play this way regularly will practice pass and go like this as a fundamental part of their general training , to the point that during a game it becomes mostly instinctual . its only the better clubs with more technically gifted players that will adopt this style as their standard style of play , and the thing about " tiki - taka " is that its not just about waiting for the ball and playing quick lay off passes , but constantly moving into the space and making runs off the ball carrier . so when they play those no look style back passes its because they are expecting the man next to them to be making that run off them. that and they will obviously be communicating with each other too.
Exactly, like the bulls and Phill Jackson. The idea was perfected by Pep Guardiola coach of Barcelona. That team was out of this world. The ball possesion of ball in those game sometimes was 75-80% of the time for barca. Even against elite teams. "If you have the ball nobody can't score you" is the Cruyff (the creator of this) philosophy
Just a tip guys, if you rewind with the keyboard arrows then its 5 seconds back or forward. Hit spacebutton to pause, then arrow back one time for 5 seconds of rewind.
If you ever played defense you know it's mad frustrating to get double-passed on and chase that ball like a headless chicken.
I fell hard once chasing the ball its so annoying

Ngl, this is the best cmt i’ve seen so far
You said it all. That’s why it is not so easy to set up in your team.
I would add that it can also be dangerous for your team if not done perfectly. Because, if you lose the ball, it won’t be on a side or in the opposite 16. It will be at the center of the field with only the last defensive line left (which will often be high on the ground). So it’s highly effective with the right players, but also high risk. No mistakes allowed

Also awareness is key in football
Most players keep their head up scanning the field
also, they've done these drills thousands of times, they know eachother inside and out. Even without communication, they know eachothers behaviours and playing patterns very well.

Seriously lol... The Spanish players perfected it... Barcelona invented it
FYI, “Tiki-taka” (the expression) was invented by Spanish (NBA and then) soccer narrator Andres Montes. It was during the World Cup of 2006 and the first time he said that it was referred to the Brazilian National Team. Then it was used generally for every team that based their game on continuous passing and long possessions, like Barcelona and Spain a couple years after that. Andres Montes was really famous in Spain because he invented nicknames for every player, at the beginning in the NBA, and then in soccer:
- Tiburón Pujol
- ET Pau Gasol
- Jordan Airlines
- Sweet Iniesta
- “I do whatever I want, whenever I want, and whatever I please” Shaq
- Ratatatatatatatataaaaaa!!! (Clutch 3-pointer from far away)
He was a piece of art! Worth the watch!
We need that reaction in on “Smartest skills without touching the ball”.
Basketball got triangle offence from football passing
Perfect explanation....even the video represents it as just 'one touch passing'...(they even showed Real Madrid and Man U doing it..Lol)

It's hard to explain the concepts clearly for me (because my "eng") but what I mean is that no matter how good and innovative Guardiola is (and he is), the difference in a team is made by the players,
you can play well (for sure not like that Barca) but you will not go down to the history and know why? Because you wouldn't win anything without those players and the "legendary" tiki-taka would be judged differently (the proof, talking about Guardiola, is what happened with Bayern before and now with City).
Tiki Taka first started when Johan Cruyff was Barcelona manager, but when Pep Guardiola took that role he adopted the style and advanced it to what we know today, the term Tiki Taka was first used in 2006 by a Spanish broadcaster named Andrés Montes. the style became the trademark of the Barca club where all Barca school players train to play in this style.
6:34
"Why not just do this the whole game?"
Answer: Because it's very, very difficult.

Eversince I found you guys I subbed and literally went marathon on all your videos... And I am NOT disappointed.. Thnxxx🤗🤗✊

Similar to the triangle offense the warriors use where there is constant movement
They know eachother, just like a quarterback knows his receivers.
Barcelona tiki taka is so precise cuz all the players play with each other since their youth academy days & they play for the same nationality too mostly spanish, Argentinian & dutch players play for barca & some french & Brazilian too

Not gonna lie, your awareness of football is increasing video by video, new fan here! stay safe!
That's until Mourinho's Inter de Milan found the way to defeat it: strong, well positioned defence with pretty much the whole team (aka 'parking the bus') and a couple fast wingers to counterattack once the attacking team is deep in your half of the pitch.
to coach this is like brad Steven coaching his players the after timeout plays
complex but effective
For americans : Tiki Taka is just like Triangle offense in football/soccer, Triangle shaped passing based strategy to create space.
Both has similar success. Chicago won Six NBA Championships while Barcelona won six Major trophies (La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions league, Super Spanish Cup, Super Europe cup, and Fifa world cup) in one year 2009. Subsequently Barcelona also won another La liga in 2010, 2011, 2012, Copa del Rey 2011, 2012 and Champions league in 2011
Spain soccer National team adopted tiki taka as well and won European Cup (2008, 2012) twice and one World Cup (2010)

"Vamos con un buen toque, y otro toque, y toque y tiki y taka..."
"Lets go with a good touch (of ball), and another touch, and touch and touchy and toucha..."
This is where the term come from.
If takeoff and diddy had a baby, bro with levis hoodie would be the apt description 🤣😆

Perfect Tiki-Taka = Pep's Barca
Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan did it in 2009/2010 agains Barca in Champions League Semifinals and won the game.
congrats on 10k lads. you should have way more then that but you'll get there
Tiki-Taka was the spanish version of the so-called 'passing game'.
Mans said Phil Jackson LMAOO, that’s prob the best way to explain it too
Andrés Montes (RIP) ha llegado a norteamérica. Grande y genio!
Being aware of ur teamates, rivals, giving and receving a pass correctly all of that in secods and very short space is what makes tiki taka an art.
"this tiki taka shit" jajajajajajaja the GTA comes to la Liga jajajajaja
You're 100% right. It's exactly like the triangle offense. Great comparison!
i cant believe i ran into this channel man i love it
From Wikipedia "Is a style of play in soccer characterized by the use of short and precise passes in transitions, constant search for space and movement of the ball, and the maintenance of possession" Its a very simple idea: if you control the ball possession most of the time and you have good players eventually there´s more chances to score or at least drain the adversary energy chasing the ball (most of the time its just that: passing and waiting for a gap or an error in defense to attack) Its a good strategy, requires LOOOTS of training and knowing well your teamates and its very effective when its well applied but its not unbeateable
it's mostly a team-playing style. it's usually about keeping possession and combining passes with your teammates to either get out of pressure, or attack. nowadays, due to the pressure top teams are able to put on the opposite side, Tiki Taka is gradually banishing, making physical attributes and individual skills more important than possession and combinations. new football basically.

Sovjet played a Ice-hockey version of tiki-taka and dominated for decades. Very effective.
you're correct. Barcelona back at it's peak was the master of it. It is absolutely triangles and also one touch.

It’s called trusting your teammates. Thiery Henry said it best when he explained Guardiola’s coaching methods . The 3P’s passing possession and position, he also stated that you always had to trust your teammates to pass, to have possession and to be in the right position at all times . Hence forth very valuable to play tiki taka
PS : Messi , Xavi , Iniesta and Busquets, don’t really like busquets much but these guys were the pioneers of tiki taka
Once in a 5 a side match I had such control that I was laughing, literally out loud laughing, going around and through people. Did get kicked after that cos the opposition doen't like humiliaton. I remember 'don't let him shoot' just before I blasted it into the bottom left from the right.
HOW YOU KNEW HE WAS CUTTIN MIDDLE!! lmaooooooo
Johan Cruyff was the architect of this style. Started in the Netherlands w/ Ajax and he brought this method to Barcelona.
I must admit I've learned so much more about the game through DLS reaction videos! Love ya'll content! 10k is right around the corner! 🔥🔥🔥🔥✌🤙❤
'is it a person or a skill?' FUCKING DEAD BRO
Nice video guys, i'll try to support you as much as i can 🙏
Tiki Taka is so beloved cause it's such pure, sleak, attractive soccer. But yeah, it's not done all the time cause it's difficult for everyone to be perfectly on the same page, aware of each other and getting the right weighted pass. Coaches have been able to somewhat adapt to it; defenders just have to mark the runner.
Tiki Taka has been Barcelona’s style of play since 1988. Johan Cruyff originated it when he was their manager.
"Why don't do this the entire game"? It takes massive skill, practice, and teamwork to make it work.
its not that they are set plays , but the teams that play this way regularly will practice pass and go like this as a fundamental part of their general training , to the point that during a game it becomes mostly instinctual . its only the better clubs with more technically gifted players that will adopt this style as their standard style of play , and the thing about " tiki - taka " is that its not just about waiting for the ball and playing quick lay off passes , but constantly moving into the space and making runs off the ball carrier . so when they play those no look style back passes its because they are expecting the man next to them to be making that run off them. that and they will obviously be communicating with each other too.
I'm glad y'all finally reacted to this!
