Completely agree. I've seen a few of these videos and they're all the same. Lovely architecture externally, then you're led inside to find an interior designed by some cretin with no idea about warmth, domesticity or character.

Why would anyone want to live in a place that looks like an office? The dining room looks like a boardroom, the kitchen looks like a break room, that awful wall with the built in fireplace reminds me of a lot pizza places I've been to and the glass balustrade looks like a shopping mall elevator. I could go on but holy crap this is atrocious

the people that can afford these places don't live in them. these will just be another property for their portfolio which will be used on the odd occasion they're in the area. because of this they are designed with hotel styling in mind.

It reminds me of the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago. The blown out highlights (aperture way too open) combined with a grey day, don't do this place justice. Paint and dark accents would do wonders. Wish they had shot this in the evening, because I'll bet it looks amazing with internal, exterior, and city lights.

I don't understand why they ruin old classy buildings by making the interior look like something you'd see in New York. If I buy a place in London, I was to see some history and style, not like a sales clerk from IKEA designed it....

I’m from NYC and we feel the same disdain for these soulless, modern design trends, as well as the people that they attract.
It feels awful enough to be priced out of your own hometown; to then have to watch as it’s gutted and rebuilt, specifically to appeal to greedy people who only want the address as a status symbol - that’s a huge slap in the face to the city’s true community.
I know that NYC isn’t nearly as old and storied as London, but it’s just as sad for us, watching our city, as we know it, disappear.

It’s just a show setting for the house itself. Usually one would remove all the loose furniture and decor. Wall finishing looked great, flooring... well, up to tastes, but I would have preferred other wood. Kitchen and bathroom fixtures ok, more or less, perhaps some sinks would need replacement, and I couldn’t see the faucets. But then clearly all the rest could and would go for the eventual buyer.

It looks so... sterile. I would have expected the interior of such a grand looking building to be more elegant, like Victorian or early 20th century England, like noble estate houses like Chatsworth. Instead, it looks more like a corporate living space.

The price is of course extortionate for a mortal like me but it's quite a large property in a historic building, in central London so it is what it is. I don't event want to know the ongoing costs. Not too keen on some of the interior design elements, such as plain gray curtains in every room, office type bucket dining seats, dark flooring etc. but it's my personal opinion. I have always been curious as to why this beautiful place will not sell. No parking but in central London not a big deal. I don’t know is the lease really short or is there some other thing that makes it so difficult to sell? If anyone knows I would love to know why? Yes like the presenter was quite good. Oh, there is a very good 3D virtual reality map of this place on line and it shows you every tiny bit of the flat if you are interested. One of mine favourite location just at the beginning of Pall Mall and beautiful houses opposite. Kinnaird House and the one on the corner of Suffolk Street with Pret A Manger. What a stunning place.

I am a big fan of Belgravia... I am a huge fan of anything west of Buckingham palace, basically anything Kensington and west.
Eaton, I adore, and who knows... one day?
Also like Chelsea and Battery Park, though probably less gentrified than Notting Hill... affords lovely views, lovely neighborhoods.
West London is in fact the bomb... outskirts of London, it just gets more gorgeous.

Wow, so much history, so much original character - a lot of the wood was probably rare and brought from around the world, not to mention, plastering details, etc. that there aren’t even craftsman to do anymore and they’ve managed to turn it into a sterile cookie cutter mausoleum! All that character they renovated out of it can never be replaced. If you told me it was built 10 years ago by a nouveau riche millionaire just pointing to stuff out of a magazine, I couldn’t tell you different. Oh well, time marches on 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fabulous building but hideously modern inside. A definite gut job to restore it. Wonder how they got to do that when the so-called rules for grade 2 listed property are so strict elsewhere

    • @diannshoemaker6419
      @diannshoemaker6419 ปีที่แล้ว

@The Chloe You might have noticed this was ALWAYS an office building, not residential, so it wasn't "modernized", but merely made livable as a home, instead of small office spaces...
.Notice please, the antique molding everywhere, and the gentle hand they had with the many bathrooms...So, NO, you do not need to "GUT" this to de modernize it. That's absurd. Just remove the furniture. It's probably just staging, anyway.
