Holy cow, six units in a mixed bag on Proctor Hill! What a show that was! Too bad they weren’t hauling stone. Great to still see some Missabe paint too. Maybe CN will take better care of those than BNSF does with the Santa Fe Warbonnet survivors. Thank you for getting this! Keep up the great work!
What a sweet smell on a crisp fall morning like bacon and maple syrup! I always said that if you could capture diesel exhaust as mens aftershave uls be a sell out!
Great video! There actually is another SD38 in DMIR paint but it’s patched out for Bessemer and Lake Erie and renumbered to 862. It’s here in Pennsylvania on the CN Bessemer Sub
Great to see the SD38-2s including 215 get out on the road for once, even if it's just a quick run to the docks and back. I've only had two trips to the Iron Range and saw them in action both times (215-211 in 2017, 211-212 in 2018), but they just switched in Proctor Yard.
wow I was not dissapointed! this is something else! the smokeshow is incredible! sounds amazing too. casually looks for shortlines near socal with SD38-2s
Great footage of the SD38's taking off blowing all that carbon out. I was wondering with the two AC4400's were dead in tow but read in the comments they were being used as dead weight to work the four leading units harder to work the carbon off. Proctor hill is definitely a place to visit on the bucket list!
Interesting how 215 retains its KarTrak ACI barcode plates! That system was abandoned in 1977 and yet that locomotive continues to wear its barcode over 45 years later!
4:52 The lead engine is actually an EMD GP38-2. SD36 was the last engine EMD built in the SD30 series. The CN GP38-2 used to be a High-Hood engine, but was given a standard cab in 2011.
That was a great smoke show the second engine never put out any smoke at all was that thing even online and why were the back two the ones that rebuilt not online.

Awesome video.
Cylinder liner and ring wear!
Wow, how cool was that, what a great watch and cool share! (Dave).

Another great video. We had a SD38 briefly on DSRC-great puller.
So jealous of this. Great work Douglas!

Doesn’t look like carbon, looks to be oil smoke given its blue color.
This is amazing I love sd40s and old power
GREAT video. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video great coverage
Awesome sound, thanks for sharing!!!!😁
Absolutely great video Douglas!
Amazing catch but I just wish that 215 kept it's old cast P5 and also it's just crazy that those 4 emds have just 200 more horsepower than the 2 c6ms

Really awesome !!
Love the video. Have done some train and ship watching in the past in Duluth . Need to plan a return trip.
They got nice warmed up working hard
Maybe a tune up for these locos. 😀 Nice video!
your videos are amazing i watch them all the time
Hello... Nice to meet this channel. Following the locomotive parade trip. Thank you
Looks like California need those engines
Great video! Would still like to see the old Dl 600s and ex UP C630s doing the same!!!
Now that was a great one.
Those 2 dead locos are hea-vy, hence the smoke exhaust!🎉😂
Excellent

Six axels, it’s an SD38-2, there is no such thing as an SD36, or an SD30 for that matter.
Curious, why’d they go and grab the train with the EMD’s? Did the GE’s go down?
Smoking Trains on the DMIR
Great video sorry I couldn't make it to the premiere
No problem 😊 Hope you enjoy watching it!
@SD457500 happy holidays
2:41 Tunnage hiding in the shadows
A bit less talking maybe? I WANNA HEAR THE TRAINS!!
deferred maintainance....

When I saw 215 back in April, I thought it was burning oil because of the smoke which had a bluish tint to it
of course a combustible engine is smoking
To me they look better not blowing out a ton of smoke. I could always hear these locomotives from a mile away lol
Would have any "Past Footage" of WC & Missabe working together ??
3 of the 6 engines working, it seems. Why didn't they use the AC44s to provide power?
They used them as deadweight to make the SD38-2’s work harder in order to clear the carbon out of them
To much oil in the engines
Well I just hope they don't get any stupid, tier 4, upgrades, or even worse scraped 🥺
Rebuild 215 and don’t repaint damit! (Unless it’s the same as current) 😉
If you don’t want 215 anymore… I’ll take it off of your hands. 😬
Looks and sounds like my '65 Olds Starfire ! 😅
Dam, u shouldn't have said those 3 SD38-2 throughing that carbon
Yeah, that's not healthy...
Couple jugs of Marvel Mystery Oil should bring those old rings back to life
Plus 500 gallons of Lucas Injector Cleaner.
They look like SD40-2s
Great video!
