Many players will do what it takes to win a match in Yu-Gi-Oh. Add extra engines in decks even if they brick, Use cards that need dice rolls to activate something, or even play Runick Stun and act like they’re loveable people. What we won’t risk is doing a coin flip, let alone a deck that is filled with coin-flip-based effects. Such is the story of the famously known GX deck, Arcana Force. The entire deck was based around LIGHT Fairy monsters with coin-flip effects that varied depending on your result. Some of them were neat, and some of them, well, weren’t. This deck was perfect for was creating chaos like Sartorious or people with severe gambling problems. What it wasn’t suitable for was any competitive play, and we’ll show you why in today’s video.

*Now Konami will probably print new Broken Support for this Deck in the same way they did for Photon and Gimmick Puppet.*
Exactly. Melodious and Ice Barrier also got good support recently. We’ll get the announcement for Duelist of Brilliance soon.
The best idea I have to break them would be an OP field spell. Like, it counts itself as Light Barrier, lets you pick your coin flips, and let's you summon Arcana Forces for 1 less tribute. Even then, I don't know if they'd be worth it.
tbh, I just wanna see what the rest of the Arcana would look like, because there's quite a few that didn't have any effect in the anime or manga.
The Sun, The Star, The Towers, Justice, Judgement, The Hermit... None of them have any equivalent at all in either the game, anime or manga. The Heirophant and the High Priestess have trap equivalents sort of but they're nothing to do with Arcana and don't involve a coin flip.
Also Ursarctic basically becoming drytron support for synchro and fusion
All you really need to make them OP is to give them more summons. That way The World becomes incredibly dangerous pretty quickly.
rata: "to let your opponent search any card in their deck? are you high?"
Which support report is this from?
Edit: NVM found it
You should link it then! @@aredjayc2858
This deck requires a whole remake, making the bad effect meh and the good one REALLY GOOD
that's the fix a lot of cards could get. No evolved, retrained or extra deck version. Just make "X card 2" and make it fit in the current meta with basic necessary features.
Sartorius has a full 40 card deck if all the anime cards were printed.
Nah, the problem is that The World's Effect is basically an FTK if you let Arcana Force be competitive.
@@fg009letyrds8 I had a gimmick deck like that and actually got away with my opponent only getting one turn.
No, they should have 2 different good effects. Maybe the heads effect helps you and the tails one hurts your opponent. But since you can't rely on getting a specific one, they need to both be really good.
How to kill an entire Archetype with three words: _"Toss a Coin"_
bigger issue is that one of the effects is bad, if both were good and went towards the same objective in different ways, they wouldn't be half bad, issue is, whoever designs the coin toss cards wants the other effect to be bad for whatever reason and archetypes made that way are effectively killed while still in the womb
@@francenkovcan5211 If we have to guess, prob bc the designer thought toss result-based two good effects would be too broken at the time
Yet not realizing how stupidly bad the bad effects are

That's what makes them gamable cards.
@@danmakuusou9348
Nah, it is basic "risk vs reward" balancing. You can use a really powerful Effect, but at the cost of taking the risk. Real issue is something like Time Wizard had its good Effect powercrept. Yeah yeah, gambling could never be competitive, but it still makes sense.
Yeah, the Dice cards Joey plays really are how luck should be done. minor effects that benefit you regardless so you can plan around the outcomes. Most of them seem to have mediocre boost or lose the game. making them not at all worth playing even casually.
Damn, you're churning these out like nobody's business! I'm not even done with the previous one
Sunk Cost Fallacy, the more archetypes there are the more likely there'll be a new good archetype support for one of them.

And we love it!
I love Arcana Reading's tails effect, the balls to print a card that basically reads "50% chance to instantly lose the game".
Heads: attack twice or draw half a card yay
Tails: you are now stuck in a glue trap IRL and there are gorillas being summoned to your location. opponent draws 5 cards
I will say, The World Turbo is kind of hilarious when it works.
I second that, love the stupid gimmick deck i made
That’s like the only thing that works related to the Arcana Force archtype and you gotta hope the gimmick works or you’re shit out of luck since imagine getting unlucky via the negative effect of The World and playing a card with a big downside.
@@PerfectAzrael
If you are using this card you are probably using a deck built around it too meaning you have either, the means to get it off the field (even if not, almost any link monster would get it off the field) or you don't even have to rely on luck by summoning it "correctly" every time via Light Barrier, there is a 1 card combo that sets the whole thing up, but it somewhat heavily relies on luck lol, but not the coin flip luck but rather the going 1st and also not getting interrupted type of luck.
An old Yugituber who played EDM music over YGOPro replays (Infinity AKA Deviant Yugioh, RIP) made a very good World Turbo build with Shaddolls and Soul Charge long ago. Still have it on my copy of Tag Force Special.
@@dbaglee4497That’s exactly what I mean. You need Light Barrier or you’re banking on luck and if it gets taken out (Light Barrier or The World), there goes that plan.
This archetype is the most tragic to me because they never even bothered printing a card for every Major Arcana.
Sadly most GX era decks were never finished.... Neo Spacians are missing half of thier evolution cards. It was a very experimental era where they gave everyone archetypes but were so worried about over extending plays that they all had heavy nerfs to them or required huge hoops just to not be normal cards anymore. 5Ds is where they really started to make archetypes that actually had a game plan and possible win condition.
Tarot cards and a fortune-telling aesthetic would be so cool too... I hope it's done well someday.
So I'll be honest; I definitely agree it's not worth making more cards for a coin-flip archetype... but the fact that the Arcana Force cards are supposed to represent the Major Tarot cards makes me want to see what they'd do for the remaining six.
I remember getting so annoyed that they only did specific ones, instead of the entire Tarot. Honestly the remaining Tarots could be done as Links, Fusions, etc.

The description is the correct one, rather than the galaxy eyes one like last time :)
Searcher spell suggestion
Arcana Polarity
Normal Spell
Target 1 "Arcana Force" monster you control; Special Summon 1 "Arcana Force" monster from your deck with a different name from the monster you targeted, and if you do, treat it as having the coin flip result that is opposite of the targeted monster. You can only activate "Arcana Polarity" once per turn.
Might need some PSCT but at least this gives you an extender and can not only help you build a board, but also guarantee you get the effect you want based on picking a monster with a weak tails effect or a powerful heads effect. So you end up being able to mitigate bad flips without completely giving up good ones.
I love how much sassier you’ve gotten recently in these videos. Keep it up!
In MtG, coin flips do exist and they're nowhere near as obnoxious as a downside there, if they do have that.
A good example is Goblin Traprunner. A limited specialty that creates up to three tokens, depending on how many coin flips you won everytime it attacks. While it's mid, you don't have to worry about the card blowing up in your face unlike the Arcana Force. There's also Zndrsplt and Okaun, which do promote coin flipping.
Krark himself does have a downside, but it boils down to trying that spell again. Even then, a witty player would use him to rack up storm counts.

A coin toss archetype where both effects are good would be interesting.
Arcana needs a full rework. Retrain all monsters so not only have their coin effects, but like Fiend and Temperance have a default ability to rely on at any moment.
Konami might as well rework over 50 percent of their archetypes
In Speed Duel, with the new Midterm Decks, it is having a second change to bright (with Arcana Force XIV-Tempeance been use as a staple in many decks)
No one has used temperance ever since mod was hit, its just not as useful.
But yeah, even thunder dragon used it, since temperance is light and could be used as fodder for levi.
Making a entire archetype based on coin flip effects is insane.
You're on fire! great vid as always
Seeing a video on cyber dragons would be cool
This video brought me back. Arcana Force used to be my deck back when I played kitchen YGO with my friends, around when synchros really kicked off. It wasn't a good deck, but it was fun flipping all them coins, especially with the lucky nickel I found under a bus stop bench.
I did try once to create a coin flip archetype. I found that the only way to make them work is to make their coin flip effects like "bonus" effects to supplement their main effects, as well as making both coin flip effects beneficial (whether it be in the situation you use them in, or general). Also, it's basically mandatory to have a support card that lets you choose which coin flip effect you want to apply.
Also, "Cup of Ace" although is not an arcana force card definitively has its place in archetype, no ?
Love what you do man!
Idk if you’ve already done a video on Altergeist, but if not I’d love to see one. I’ve always thought it’d be cool for them to get the first trap field spell, or a link 1

I love this Series
Despite it's rough spot. Horus Arcana Force XII - The World is probably one of the most reliable gimmick FTKs I ever played. I knew the risks and flaws I might have to put up with, and it paid off for me. Sending all 4 Horus monsters to win is just intoxicating. But of course, I can always fall back on regular Horus plays to weather the storm. I'm still going to be a great fan of The World, even if the archetype is practically bad. Good video by the way. (Also Valhalla doesn't just special summon level 4 fairies. It summons any 1 fairy monster.)
Do you have a link to the decklist Sounds “fun”

It would be more interesting if both effects were good, but in opposing ways. Still makes it unwieldy to play, but can also makes it hard for your opponent to read to try to counter play.
I loved playing this deck and the Gimmick puppets. Very fun to play, it was just hard to win with lol.

a coin-flip archetype does sound cool in theory, but trying to make it good in anyway would probably be a nightmare to figure out. nevertheless, here's some ideas i thought of for support/directions:
- Some card(s) that you can banish to negate and reapply an effect, or simply use an effect again (a mulligan on coin flips at worst)
- A monster like Fool that isn't destroyed by battle, but instead has some kind of effect that helps flips. My personal idea is something like: "When this card is Summoned, and during your Standby Phase, you can: toss a coin. You can treat the result of a coin flip for an 'Arcana Force' monster, or a card that mentions 'Arcana Force', as that result. You can use this effect up to the number of 'Arcana Force' monsters that were face-up on the field during your Standby Phase."
- Cards that offer two divergent advantages (i.e. "Heads, Draw a card; Tails, Send an 'Arcana Force' monster to the GY", or "Heads, Add an 'Arcana Force' monster from Deck to hand; Tails, Set a Spell/Trap that mentions 'Arcana Force' from your Deck")
- Varied strats? 1 or 2 monsters focused each on Burn, Mill, Beatdown, etc. strats that a player can choose to gear their deck toward, keeping "Arcana Force" decks unpredictable even with their added consistency from previous ideas
The best thing about Arcana Force was playing the deck in Tag Force 2. They had a specific animation of the card spinning, like in the anime, as opposed to just the coin flip.
They also had additional cards never printed in the TCG, like Strength and Hanged Man.
But this deck is probably best left in the past. So much so, that they revisited the Tarot theme with Spellbooks, who I consider the "actually playable spiritual successor" to Arcana Force.
I remember in HS when I had this deck and enjoy being the kid with a quarter at all times 😅
Arcana Force EX - The Light Ruler was the only one of the Arcana cards I had and I loved that card. Never could summon it though. X.X
The only good think the arcana archetype gave us is Takehito Koyasu saying "za warudo" before Jojo's
I would love feedback on this:
Arcana Force Inversed (Dark Fairies or something like that)
The card art is the Arcana Force monsters upside down, reflected in some sort of distorting mirror which makes them look like nightmares.
Their gimmick is still coin toss, but the heads side gives a positive for the controller of the card and the tail side does something negative for the opponent.
The main combo line is derived from the empress and Blackwing (of all places) where a Arcana version of Black Whirlwind lets you search a Arcana Force card every time X happens (Maybe every time a Arcana force monster activates an effect which does not require a coin toss or something like that) and the inverse empress allows you to normal summon a Arcana Force Inverse monster every time the opponent summons a monster. This should give the player several opportunities to get the tail effects to interrupt the opponents play in a more interesting way. A bit similar to Maxx "C" and Floowandereeze how that plays out.
The interesting part of the main line combo is how higher level monsters can be tribute summoned and then come stapled with stronger effects. Protecting, card destruction, negates, and so on. But since they are openly searched, the opponent can still adapt their play to what they know you have in hand.
I haven't really thought it out any more than this, I just wanted to find a way to make the Arcana Force gimmick useable and fun without losing the flavour.
Heads I win, Tails You lose would be hilarious design
The only way I see this archetype happening is if they print completely new cards based from the rest of the tarot cards, and all of them have positive effects for both coin toss, and all of them have the same synergy.
Omg Hiru! What a surprise to click a random video and hear your voice xD

i would argue that the world is actually super crazy only thing you really need is the field spell and itself ive seen decks throughout my 16 years of playing at locals regionals etc. actually make the world easily and just skip the opponents turn. it was very rogue but did see play. i remember frog builds back in the day playing 1 barrier and 1 world just because they had the space and could possibly make the world and just otk
You are my favourite yugi tuber ❤ your voice is ASMR❤
The question goes beyond support, the core idea of the deck is representing tarots, which are supposed vary between positive and negative beyond your control.
And when the deck is supposed to be uncontrollable and potentially negative, there isn't much you can do.
The deck need to be remade entirely with a different concept.
I thought of two cards to make them better.
The first was a continuous spell that, when a card effect required you to toss a coin, you could banish an arcana force monster from your graveyard, and if you did then you got to choose the result of the coin toss instead of tossing the coin.
The other was a monster who's effect let you discard it to add the spell from your deck to your hand, or discard it when the spell would be removed from the feild, and if you did the spell wasn't.
It's coin flip ability allowed you to tribute it to either tribute it to negate a card's activation and/or effect, or bounce itself back into your hand.
this deck is fun
if only a kind of effect to be a win/win but with different scenario would have been chosen instead, AF would have been at least playable, not good but at least playable.
Like having Emperador to either
Heads: increase 500 Atk to your own AF monters.
Tails: reduce 500 Atk to your opponent's monsters.
Things like that, or lovers being like
Heads: this monster can be used for two for tribute summon. Once per turn change the level of this card from 1 to 8.
Tails: You can Normal summon again.
All I remember is that the archetype (particularly Arcana Force XXI - The World, for obvious reasons) spawned JoJo memes, by virtue of Sartorius' voice actor being that of DIO's.
GX anime came literally long before Jojo anime. Dio is voiced by Sartorious’ voice actor.
@@PerfectAzrael Aye, but I remember many memes about Arcana Force and JoJo's. That was during the 2017-2020 era.

Pendulum Scales: 0⬅️➡️0
_If any number of Coins or tossed or Die are rolled: You can add 1 card to your hand (from your deck, GY or banishment) that mentions Coin, Die and/or Dice in their text. _If any number of Coins or tossed or Die are rolled: You can add 1 card to your hand (from your deck, GY or banishment) that mentions Coin, Die and/or Dice in their text. If a coin would tossed, both players call it. If you call right or your opponent calls wrong, they can shuffle 1 card from their GY or Banishment into their deck. If any number of Die are rolled, you can increase or decrease this card’s level by up to the result._
ATK/50 DEF/50
I actually love coin flip effect cards
tbh Arcana Force should've been a highlander 78-card archetype that:
1. Forces you to shuffle your deck in such a way so that a random number of cards are rotated 180 degrees from each other
2. Instead of drawing (your opening hand or subsequent draws), you excavate cards and immediately play them
3. Apply the appropriate right side up or upside down effect
12:08 Thanks to the Fiend and emperess' effect, they kinda have an idea they could exploit: a card that lets you summon them from GY. So the deck can basically "take a gamble" with their coin toss effect and either get pluses the traditional way or through the GY.
Maybe cards that let you set and use reversal of fate on turn 1 and give your arcana force monsters a type of immunity while reversal of fate is on the GY (get the pun?).
there is an idea they could exploit while still being significant to their lore. . sadly they won't use it
And with the effect of the The World having the potential it dose... I doubt many good cards might come out in the future in fear of making Worldo-turbo too consistent.
After all, there's getting annoyed that your turn is basically skipped due to a negate or floodgate... and then there's The World, doesn't even hide the turn skipping.
If there's an Arcana Force supports in the future, i imagine it makes The World's effect to skip opponent's turn are easier to pull consistently
(kinda good and kinda scary though)
10 years form now, the full coin flip deck will be here
Coin flip card are very fun to play with friends
Something they could do to fix the it would be reworking the archetype to all be like the light and dark ruler, both effects are beneficial but different, like a Stratos that either let you add an arcana from deck to hand or special summon one from deck, both good but one obviously better then the other and add a clause where you can pick the effect if you reveal an arcana spell/trap from hand.
Ok sooo hear me out back then we actually flipped a coin and I just so happen to know how to flip coins to land the way I want, so I actually had great results back in the day. Though, I felt too bad and only played with my friends using this deck lol
Arcana Force and Magical (Prophecy) both use tarot cards for their motif. While we're at it, so did The House of the Dead (and apparently parts of Silent Hill).
Going to buy those arcana force b4 the price goes up after new supports
In defense of The Magician, it's effect just says "when a spell card is activated", not when your opponent activates a spell card. So combine it with Bad Reaction to Simochi and the Tails effect become "Deal 500 damage to your opponent when a spell card is activated". All you need is a whole bunch of spell cards to throw out for his effect! ...I really wish his first effect just doubled his attack each time, not just set it to 2200.
I love the Arcana Force cards a a concept, but yeah, they _really_ suck to use. And while it would be nice to see retrains that have both coin effects be beneficial, that would also defeat the point of tarot card theming.
I wish this archetype worked like Flower Cardians, where you're playing a completely different game and could summon its boss monsters by completing tarot reading layouts in your monster zones.
Weren't there other Arcana Force support cards too? Or perhaps cards that were related to the Arcana Force archetype? Like Arcana Force XII - The Hanged Man, Empress's Staff, Emperor's Staff, and Suit of Sword X iirc. Were these released or were they perhaps only in the anime?

@@PerfectAzrael I know it just funny
I remember seeing these cards online as a kid, always thought they looked really cool, sad to see them being so bad
1. The Arcana's should have been made with the new Devil Arcana's design in mind from the very beginning.
Not only should *both* coin toss effects have been good, just usefull for different things, but they also should have had an additional effect to give them more functionality (searching, Special Summoning, disruption, protection like with Temperance etc)
This would have made them a deck that's still luck based, but that has a solid foundation to stand on
2. Another fundimental problem with the Arcanas is that a huge portion of them don't exist *period*
Sure there are still some cards that are anime/Duel Links exclusive, but about a third of the Major Arcana were never even *shown* to exist like The Hierophant, The Tower, Justice and The Star.
Hell, speaking of Duel Links, Sartorious actually *does* have lines for all the Major Arcana hidden in the game files. Meaning *even the Duel Links dev team* assumed Konami would make those cards *eventually* , despite us not getting any closer to that as of me writting this.
Top 10 eyes monster (limited to 1 per archetype)
I kinda hope to see more Arcana Force support in the future, if for nothing else than just to see what each of the different arcana would look like as yugioh cards.
But I do think that if it gets TOO OP, like we're talking board swarming for free tribute fodder for these guys, there's a chance it turns into effectively an FTK where they just summon two moons and the world with both their positive effects and then just skip the opponent's turn infinitely.
Obviously, that wouldn't happen reasonably- they'd need a card that is literally just "Special summon from hand, add an arcana force. Get another normal summon"
But honestly, if they had like, a card that, summoned themselves, and had a coin flip where like, on heads they search an arcana force, and on tails *locked* you into arcana force so it couldn't be some rank 4 tech, a card that was just better light barrier, like maybe it makes tribute summoned arcana force monsters unable to be destroyed by card effect, and gave an extra normal summon of an arcana force, and always had the effect to let you choose the result- obviously would need to always be treated as light barrier too. And then some card that maybe lets them discard an arcana force to draw two. They'd probably also need some kind of graveyard interaction, a monster reborn, whether on a monster effect or not. AND for good measure, give them a 0-atk link 1 that flips a coin, on heads it can discard to reborn, and on tails it stops you from taking battle damage.
They need a LOT to be good, but, honestly, I wanna see them do something, I love the gambling aspect, leaving it to a coin toss, but unless it's ALL good effects, or you consistently are able to choose the effects, there's just, nothing that they can do.
I think if there's ONE card that could fix the whole archetype, it would be a continuous spell that lets you flip a coin to add an arcana force card (or card that mentions arcana force) to hand, unless you have light barrier where you just get it anyway, and gives you two additional normal summons of arcana force monsters. It would still need other cards to keep up with modern day, *but*, I did something similar with toons and it works wonders. "Toon Fortress" A continuous spell that you can only control one of it's original name, but, hard opt lets you pay 1000 (homage to original toon world) to add any toon card or card that mentions toon world to your hand except itself, treats itself as toon world on the field to turn everything online, and protects other cards named "Toon World" from being banished. They can still be targeted, still be destroyed, bounced, spun, but can't be banished.
It's searchable in archetype, it can replace itself, it's consistent, and it adds onto what is already there. Searchable by Arcana Reading (Since you're gonna want light barrier anyway since it's effects are always live first active turn regardless) and while the payoffs still aren't good, it lets the deck do something a little better, it would still die to hand traps and negates but it might do SOMETHING going second. The combo would probably go: Fiend/Light barrier, arcana reading/this new card, add EX the dark ruler, normal summon 3 fodder, choose good effects, special summon dark ruler, choose whichever effect is best for your current situation. Alternatively, add The World with new card, normal summon lovers, tribute summon world, find a way to get a free body on board so the last normal summon can go to skipping opponent's turn, then hope you draw into more normal summonable bodies to get as long of a lock as possible using the world to try to attack for game. Bonus points if after the first turn skip you can get out the moon in addition to it all to make it infinite since you can search the low levels using the continuous spell.
Regardless, Arcana Force is bound to be a bad going second deck since it needs it's attacks, or a glorified FTK deck because of the World Turn Skip. As much as I wanna see more Arcana Force cards, there's no way to make 'em good without making 'em broken.
The archetype does not need support, it needs whole remake. The coin toss gimmick works for the theme of reading tarot cards. To make the cards work as YuGiOh cards, they need to be designed like The Fiend, with an effect that is consistent regardless of the coin flip, and both results are beneficial. Have drop the coin flip from Light Barrier and have it search an Arcana Force monster when activated. Make Reversal of Fate a continuous spell with a once per turn clause.
World Lock should be a win condition for the deck. However, the opponent ought to have a chance to stop it, so it should not be possible on turn one.
Probably won’t tier 1, but could be a decently fun rogue deck.
Looking forward to Konami announcing a new version of Light Barrier that adds any Arcana Force monster to your hand, removes the coin toss requirement, gives you an extra Arcana Force normal summon (or better yet a special summon), and gives all Arcana Force monsters card effect immunity while it remains face up on the field. I also expect a continuous spell/trap that somehow just stops your opponent from playing the game too, just to really help balance the deck.
The thing about this deck was you would have a card that could pick coin flips somewhere I thought but I also swear there was a choice coin flip card that gave you second coin flips. And honestly if this didn't rely on coin flips as an archetype like all the meta ones. With two or three effect for free this would easily be meta. And need to be nerfed because I swear the ruler would be extra viable and with negates and free flood gates
My favorite memory related to the Arcana Force is making my opponent Game2 immediately because I summoned AoJ Quarantine first turn.
YEAAHHHHH BABY ARCANA FORCE SUPPORT🔥🔥🔥
A cool video idea is the cardian archetype because I feel like they were made it just to waste your turn
Also I swear that mix with fairy ideas was also g because I swear you could get beat stick fairies and these guys rolling around
6:15 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Konami will eventually release support for this game which basically says "If this card is in your hand, deck, graveyard or banish zone when the Tails effect of an Arcana Force card resolves, you win the duel."
It will slide smoothly into the OCG metagame but will ride roughshod over the TCG until it gets banned. As always.
Not even Joey Wheeler would play this gambling archetype
