- normally LifePoint again cards are terrible, but if you happen to be playing a deck that regularly gets into high LifePoint values, what cards can you play that can actually take advantage of having high LifePoint's? That's the question we hope to answer with today's video.

In Legacy of the Duelist, I played Backup Squad in a deck against Kaiba and he didn't attack me until he had enough monsters on the field to lower my LPs to 0. What he didn't know was I had Negate Attack facedown in play.
It's genuinely hilarious to imagine Kaiba's reaction to Negate Attack costing him the duel! Sounds like a way Kaiba would lose. XD
Dark snake syndrome is so funny because in the tag force games, its the easiest way to force a draw and there is a character that runs a deck that uses Des wombat to try and win with it.
Syndrome with something like prime mat and Ra would be devastating.
You know to be completely honest I didn’t even know this card existed. It’s crazy how long I’ve been playing this game and there’s still cards I discover that I’m just like cool, I’ve never seen this card in my entire life. 😆

I've actually run DSS in one of my decks in Nightmare Troubadour. It's a sort of gimmick deck that runs 40 Spell cards and nothing else. Unfortunately, it's not a particularly consistent deck, and it only works because of how the AI chooses the order in which its monsters attack. Although I don't have it in my saved deck recipes anymore, I still have the list of cards for it.

@@kaibamanyt2865 Dark Snake Syndrome was one of the first cards I ever had, and it holds a special place in my heart for that. Also it's a cool concept both as artwork and as an effect.
I'd love to see a top 10 cards list of cards that in the past showed up in a worst 10 list but had some "glow up" through new support or meta shifts.
Gate Gardien
For those who haven't seen it, Battle Royal Mode - Joining is a specific reference to ARC-V. The card art features generic Obelisk soldiers, Ancient Gear Warriors, and Ancient Gear Giant storming through a battlefield, destroying everything in its path. In ARC-V, the bad guys are from the Fusion Dimension, which is based on Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. During the 2nd story arc, they begin to invade the Standard Dimension (where the main characters live) and as such, there are a lot of Battle Royal Duels going around. One of the rules of the mode is that new Duelists can enter into the fight at any time, but if they enter after a Duel begins, they take a 2000 LP penalty. This was introduced to specifically be a part of the tournament being held in that arc, but that's quietly forgotten about and it happens virtually every Duel afterwards.
Appreciated but I still think we should’ve gotten Zane instead of Alexis. I will hold that sentiment to my the day I die.
@@kaibamanyt2865if i could guess, i haven't seen arc v but know some of the plot thanks to the legacy of the duelist game, part of the reason why they chose Alexis over Zane is because, aside from the whole "ok but where's Syrus" situation it could cause, she serves a bigger contrast as somebody that (mostly) used ritual versus fusion from a point of view of the story.
@j0j0dartiste21 Nah, Syrus wouldn't affect anything. Kite showed up in the Zexal world but no one else from his family even made a cameo.
The legacy characters aren't the actual same ones, just AU equivalents. Jack is essentially the main obstacle in the Synchro arc and he's very different from his 5D's self.
They really need a LP gain win condition card. It'd have to need an absurd amount of LP though, like 100,000 or more. There's some niche currently useless strategies that technically get you a lot of LP, often at the cost of the opponent getting it too. But if only YOU have the win con card, it could be good. But, like, in a very rogue manner.
Ra finally good.
MTG has that with Test of Endurance. It gives you the win at the start of your turn if you have at least 50 life, 2.5 times the amount you start with. I'd love to have that in my old lifegain deck. Oh well, at least I have Cradle of Vitality.
then we'll see Number C1000: Numeronius Numeronia being put towards gaining that amount of lifepoints
I used to do custom cards just for fun and made myself one of those. "pay 10,000 LP to activate, after 3 turns you win the game. Your monsters can't declare attack." It would made for a niche winning condition and give tons of use to gaining LP
I actually made a custom aroma card that had a wincon like that
"If your LP are 10k higher than your opponents, you win the duel"
Nice, short, sweet, and to the point.
Materials were specific so no generic cheating it out and with it needing the LP to be 10k higher, you can both increase your LP or decrease your opponents LP to trigger it.
one that might be interesting would be "top ten cards that nobody wants to play", Cards like the ojamas where nobody really WANTS to use them but their support is just so good that it's worth running terrible cards to make use of that support

I'd word it as "Nobody wants to play but are exceptionally good when used right." cause a lot of the "opinionated" bottom tends kind of end up turning into "It can't beat Tears so therefore it's worthless to play" which is the opposite of the point of Yugioh and reinforces elitism. However, when people see the value in cards that appear useless on the surface like how Chazz beat a lot of decks using Ojamas (and having lost to an early Ojama king lock down myself, I can speak to that), it would be a far more interesting video. A lot of decks no one plays is due to lack of consistency and thus a higher chance you'll probably lose if you don't draw the perfect hand, which is fair, but it doesn't mean the deck is bad. IMO a deck is only "Bad" if it fails at the very mechanic it was designed for due to semantics that Konami refuses to fix, like Vehicroids mentioning "vehicroid" in it's text, yet half of the boss monsters aren't "Vehicroids" or the mechanic it's designed for literally requires your opponent to play a deck designed to be countered by it, like Mekklords requiring your opponent to play Synchros...and still not being very good at stopping them. Ones like Ojamas that appear as a joke but have genuine use in lower tier games and casual games isn't what I'd call a "Bad deck" at all. It's quirky and may lose you more games than win, but Chazz's duels and use of them showed some of the most entertaining duels and a good deck builder would know how to find advantage in even something as silly as Ojamas (who are decent at swarming thanks to Ojama blue). Those end up being my favorite videos. Not the "Can't beat Tears so thus they suck" ones.
I second this if only because I'm desperate for people to realize the absolutely insane consistency Ojama has. But despite that fact, the archetype is in desperate need of a way to use that advantage. There are some OTK's you can do with Ronin Raccoon Sandayu, Cat Shark, and any rank 2 xyz with 2000+ attack, but getting all of that uninterrupted is a really tall order in today's game. So it's not very good. It's just weird that they've always been so far ahead of the curve when it comes to consistency compared to its peers.
Also, they outlasted Duston as a meme deck, if only because Konami can't future-proof.
Of course TheDuelLogs would know about Granel. He played that 10.000 LP, Draw 5 every turn, Tag Duel game with Rata and HardLeg, and Granel was a real threat.
If you haven’t already, you could do a top 10 lingering effects and include effects that last until end of turn, end of opponents turn and end of duel
To the people who don't know the battle Royale mode works the way it does because if you have ancient gear chaos Giant on the field he can attack every monster on your field so when you summon another monster to defend yourself he just keeps hitting you until you're out of life points
Psychic End Punisher be like: daamn, that's interesting... anyway lemme boost to 60k atk
Resonators can kinda get you to a decent LP value... the Crimson resonator 2 card combo for Red Supernova procs Red's Special Summon effect and gives you a minimum of 10200 LP
I'm surprised you mentioned Aromages but didn't focus on Aromaseraphy Jasmine. It's by far the one with more competitive use.
I have 2 similarly highly specific strats that I'm trying to make decks for right now that could use some tips if you want a challenge:
1. Criosphynx Deck-out (revolving around sending cards back from the field to pop cards from the opponents hand)
2. Sword of the Soul Eater beat down (which relies on as much normal monster swarm as possible)
Ravenous Tarantula is nice because it's difference in LP, not specifically being higher. So if your LP are lower, you still get a boost.
I like pairing it with Gishki Zielgigas.
Psychic End Punisher is similar, in that it gains its Atk at the start of the Battle Phase based on the difference in EITHER DIRECTION, though yours DO need to be lower if you want the protection from Activated Effects.
I was so excited to see this come up on my youtube because one of my favourite Master Duel Decks is an Aromage Deck.
Lets be fair. One thing is to have a lot of lifepoints and another to gain lots of lifepoints. The Aromages benefit from both but you mostly mentioned their effects when they gain LP (which you can have 100LP and gain 100 and still activate them) the other ones are what happen when you have lots of LPs.
One is an extra normal summon, the other is protection against targeting for plants, and a Raigeki for monsters with ATK with a difference between yours and your opponent's LP (min 3000)
Both Aroma and Vaalmonica want to see a steady stream of LP gains to proc "when you gain LP" conditions.
AROMAGE MENTION!!! I love the Aromage archtype so much, it quickly became my favourite one after being able to use it in Duel Links

Were this "cards unplayable @ 1 copy", there's a few cards, Ratpier, Malicious, and Trap Trix come to mind, although I'm sure there's others.
But there aren't really *any* cards that are unplayable @ 2. There's that one Spider card that summons 3 copies of a different spider on death, but it's A.) bad, and B.) still playable if you only run 2 or 1 copy in deck (just worse :/)

has an effect : Each time your opponent Special Summons an Effect Monster(s) during the Main Phase or Battle Phase, you gain LP equal to that monster's ATK. it's basically has similar effect to MaxxC but the difference it has side effect (If your opponent didn't special summon, halve your LP).
If MaxxC would have an Errata, MaxxC should've this kind of side effect (ex : If your opponent didn't special summon,banish all card on your hand facedown)
As someone who runs an Aromage deck, this video gives me some ideas I want to try out.
In Leagacy of the Duelist, in an Exodia build I tried, Backup Squad became a stall tactic against the computer. That draw advantage was enough for the computer to not attack unless it could get enough monsters on the field in a single turn to do 8000 or more damage

Sweet marjorams effect was explained incorrectly, while the controller of sweet marjoram has more life points than your opponent all plant monsters the controler of marjoram has become non-targeteable by card effects

@@LordofPotatos Thought I was the weird one mixing Aroma and Rikka (My imagination even made a new unreal OC Archetype mixing those two Archetypes). Seems like it's not weird that I can see others using that two archetypes too

Also I see Ancient Leaf a lot in tag duels due to the 16000 LP. It's cool, I like that Tag has a little bit of a different meta
We should have good monsters that use lp. IDK, "gain atk equal to your lifepoints" or smt. "Summon itself from the deck if u have 15k lifepoints" idk, just SOMETHING MAN. We need more of these cards
2:47 You can summon Block Spider from your deck, which summons a second Block Spider and both protect each other. Great combo in Runick decks.
Childsplay and Battle Royal Mode activated at the same time sort of cancel out Battle Royals possible downside since Childsplay would ensure your monsters never die from battle damage. The only hurdle to this is getting 10,000 LP. If you go first: This is super easy with a deck specced around it. If you go second, might not actually work as effectively as you would have to run more Hand-Traps to slow down combos.
Luna (Cassandra Lee Morris) from 5ds sounds really happy when she brings out Ancient Sacred Wyvern in Duel Links; it's beneficial life/point gimmick not withstanding...

Child's Play worked perfect for Aromages, the only reason I learned about it was because I was trying to fill up that deck and didn't know what else to throw in there, it turned out to be helpful in occasions
I'm not 100% sure if you've done this, but I'd love to see a list about "Cards to give to your opponent."
Like either by Swapping control, or forcing it into their deck/GY.
Ancient sacred wyvern works really well with aeromage. They have a light tuner that can be searched, which also has a summon from graveyard effect.

aroma can make ancient sacred wyvern fairly easily, unless of course you're being bullied so badly that you can't stack up LP, in which case you wouldn't want to summon it anyways, but that's just the price of playing aroma
A list of cards that are still competitive/useful despite having only negative effects would be great.

Top 10 Cards that benefit from the effect of Time Tearing Morganite allowing you 2 normal summons. The draw 2 effect is the main use but i'd love to know what decks/cards can be really good if given 2 normal summons for the rest of the duel.
This is the closest to the "day ancient leafs price spiked" video I was promised for Christmas years ago.

Honory mention are the latest addition towards the Exodia archetype. The Phantom Incarnate Exodia, gains attack points after each damage calculation by your current LP, then we have the Millenium Fiend Mirror, which make you gain half the LP by the Atk stat of any chosen monster.
If you attacked with Phantom Incarnate at your first turn and Fiend Mirror triggers, you gain 4000 LP.
since you did a video about top 10 fire monsters. i would like to see a video about the top 10 water monsters and maybe the other attributes as well ^^
I remember Ancient Leaf was getting hyped during the pendulum era because there were rumors the new LP cost would be over 10,000 and even got a price increase online. But the rumor never came true. And even if it did, I doubt the card would be legal anyway.
I actually played child's play and the one that does something similar but everytime a spell activates during an event.

You really undersell just how many ways the Aromage archetype gives you to gain LP, and how many different ways you can lock your opponents board up, and all on a lot of easy to summon and search monsters. It's far from the best out there, and probably wouldn't work in meta given most decks in meta tend to read out more like a bingo card than anything creative, but in terms of having actual fun in the game, it's a goodie.
I used the Dark Snake Syndrome card. I normally use Barrel behind the door when it's my turn to take large amounts of damage from it. Also, I combo it with bad reaction to Simoochi. This way, if he tries to recover LPs, I can drain his LPs. Loved using upstart goblin with Bad Reaction to Simoochi. Instead of gaining 1000 LP, he loses 1000 LP, and I draw a card or use lots of cards like snatch steal with bad reaction to Simoochi to steal his monster and cause him 1000 LP per turn as long as I keep his monster.
number 35 is great in a sacred beast deck since with the trap awakening of the sacred beasts it gives you life points equal to the attack of a monster your opponent summons as well as acting as a skill drain on your opponents field
I used Granel in my Burning Abyss deck. Since they die if anything else is on the field, it's super easy to get it out. Plus it saved extra deck space in the mirror, because you don't need to run a Virgil if your opponent ran one; you'd just steal it.
I pulled an ultimate rare Ancient Sacred Wyvern from my very first Yu-Gi-Oh pack so let's just say that card will always be special to me. I played a gimmick deck that attempted to blow up Brain Research Lab with Prime Material Dragon on the field, certainly not consistent but probably better than you'd think. The elusive lvl one Light tuner requirement could be fulfilled with either Mind Master or Hanewata, who is a hand trap failsafe long before hand traps were a thing.
Number 35 has been a boss monster for my Sacred Beast deck on Master Duel for a while now
One important thing that wasnt mentioned about Number 35, is that it works if you have higher LP then your opponent OR lower LP then your opponents, I've seen alot of plays where someone will inflict alot of LP damage to themselves and have 1k LP and the opponent still have 8k, the difference is always added regardless of if your LP is higher or lower, just as long as theres a difference between them
The Maxx C of using life points sounds like a great pairing for the Maxx C of gaining life points; Ghost Sister and Spooky Dogwood

Battle sqaud would be great as a trap card, one the few that would see play as a battle trap. You just need your opponent to unknowingly attack with one beatstick, and the advantage you would get would be huge.

Ravenous tyrantula had good synergy with numeron dragon and a high rank deck if you used mystic wok, it worked like molases but was fun.

Ancient Leaf is so good in my DDD deck, [2016 format] especially after Aegis+Planter combo, which gives 6k life n draws 2 cards. :D
so does meklord also increase attack when you gain life points or is it only stay at half life point while summoned ?
As an honorable mention, I would have added Aromaseraphy Jasmine. Non-hard once per turn search any plant is literally what gives life to any plant deck in yugioh.
I ran Dark Snake Syndrome back in the day. The funny thing is you don't really need a huge life lead to be safe from it -- as long as you have about 2000 more LP it will kill your opponent before it kills you. I used to run it in combination with Chain Energy, Toll, and a ton of bounce cards
Of course you can always just play it turn 1 as a power move
Aromages have such fun potential. The problem is, when you or your opponent plays them in Duel Links, the turn never ends.
Brought up the aromages but didn't bring up aromaseraphy jasmine lol. That card is one of the biggest reasons for rikka sunavalon winning Euros multiple times 😂

For dried wind if i recall correctly it effect trigger even if you gain lp during your opponent turn.

Idea: cards with specific statlines that can be searched by generic searchers ala cupid pitch for 400 def monsters, edea for 800 atk/ 1k def monsters, etc

Dark Snake Syndrome has some pretty gnarly art for TCG standards. Surprised it wasn’t censored in some way.
Ravenous tatarantula can sometimes go crazy in sacred beasts. I try to avoid using the beasts themselves for xyz unless i have that much advantage or if current board gains nothing from having them but with the life point gain from awakening of the sacred beasts ill usually have alot of lp and ravenous tarantula buffs my already buff monsters. If im swinging for game ill keep it there, otherwise ill further xyz it up to seven sins

It kinda stinks how having monsters in defense position seems like a fool's play or detriment now. I'd like to see a top 10 list of monsters you WANT in defense position, even in modern decks. Cards like Ancient Gear Howitzer and World Legacy World Shield
I really hope Aroma is the deck to break Ancient Leaf. Their cards are so good mostly, they just need one or two more waves of modern support and they can be a legit threat. Basically, all they need is more offensive pressure.
Let's be honest the aromage archetype will be in the top
I feel like Child's Play or Tarantula could work in a Dinosaur Deck using Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, Black Tyranno, and Survival Instinct. It wouldn't be too hard to generate a lot of Life Points the longer the game goes on.
I was expecting to see the new exodia fusion in this list.

Good lord i forgot about aromages. They were decent until they added the spell and traps in duel links. Then they became really good lol
Definitely needs Aromalilith Magnolia and Aroma Blend. I feel like people are sleeping on it atm. Pretty okay engine if you can consistently manage to get more LP than your opponent.
The new aroma cards coming up are gonna make aroma a much better archetype
Just thinking, but what about top 10 cards that gain advantge from cards returning to the deck/hand, like house dragonmaid which pops a card after another dragonmaid returns to the hand
Question about Dark Snake Syndrome... Can you chain to its effect of dealing damage to you with the likes of Barrel Behind the Door? If so, you'd only have to wait a max of 5 turns, reflecting the last one (3200) onto your opponent so they take 6400 that turn.
Top 10 best extra deck monsters that require monsters from an archetype as material but aren't part part of the archetype themselves. EG Rainbow Neos.
So my dad used to run Lava Golem, Infernal Tempest combo to otk with a copy or two of D.D. Dynamite. But, jeez, Lava Golem Backup Swuad exodia deck would actually be kind of more fun to lose to just because it would be so out of nowhere

You should run life point gain draw Exodia with a ton of floodgates. It would be real funny

Fun fact: If you use Backup Squad in Legacy of the Duelist, the CPU will not attack unless it has an OTK.
