Happy to see the android-x86 project still going strong, it is a good project and i have actually had it installed on a hp minipc back in 2013, it was surprisingly more stable than windows on that computer even when the project was pretty barebones and unstable. back then there was like a 50/50 chance that the applications would work or not, they either did or didnt, and many popular apps back then did not work on x86 only arm.

good video Chris ...... afew recommendation / comments for your next video on this topic .. .. you should try to add some Vram to your VM "might stop the lag.. i use BlueStacks for best game emulation "on windows" and genymotion "on linux" .. ... i always had issues with the default android GUI with mouse / keyboard . and poor performance with with VM(emulation) the best way i found to run Android is with a native install of a X86 android distro ... there is a few of them out there, but the best one in my opinion is (( Bliss OS )) .. it seems to run the fastest , and with no HW/driver issues on both my AMD and Intel HW ... i did have issues with a AMD R9 380 , were i had to boot it from the onboard graphics to install then reboot with my R9.. but all and all it runs grate ,, i mostly use it with my GF laptop "it has touch-screen" and its running with the 4.15 kernel .. ps. i have had no luck with stock x86 or Prime-OS getting it running with my HW - even after compiling my own kernel i never got it to work , hope you do more videos on this topic :)

On older hardware, I found it better to just run one of those android OS as a stand alone OS. I have a 10 years old laptop with a Core 2 Duo T6670 processor+4GB ram, and I have been running RemixOS on it for 2-3 years. The gaming experience is comparable to flagship phones, and it is a lot smoother than running Android on virtual machine on my newer computer. Also, since it is a spare laptop which I only use to play mobile games, I am not really too concern about security. The only bad thing is that RemixOS had been discontinued for more than 2 years, so I really won't recommend it as your primary OS. For those who want to play android games on their computers, there are still a coupon of alternatives though. For emulators: Nox, MEmu, etc. (Personally, I don't like using emulators since they tend to have a bunch of ads and many of them install apps without your permissions) For stand alone android OS: BlissOS, PrimeOS, PhoenixOS (It may not be the best analogy, but these android OS to the stock android is like all those Ubuntu derivatives to Ubuntu).

I can't click on OK in the Settings of the virtualbox, it says that I the hardware virtualization is enabled in the Acceleration section of the System page altough it is not supported by the host. It should be disabled in order to start the virtual system. I went to System and then to Acceleration and I did as follow: Paravirtualization: None Hardware Virtualization (unchecked this box)
I had the same problem. You have to enable it in the BIOS. Open the Bios and choose something like advanced CPU settings and then something like SVM Mode for amd or Intel Virtualization Technology or VT for Intel. Or search in the web because it has different names in the many BIOS. But you will find it if you search hardware virtualization or your computer in the web.

VBoxSVGA and 3D acceleartion doesn't work together. Virtualbox says: "3D acceleration only works with VMSVGA" And if you switch it to VMSVGA then the GUI never starts and you are in console mode -.-

When using vboxsvga and 3D accel it says invalid settings and the vbox crashes after hitting enter. Only works when using stock settings without accel

Get the persistent usb tool to burn Android X86 to a usb. Boot from the usb and your done/ better performance.

You have to download VirtualBox 6.0, not 6.1. It worked for me.

Increase the monitor count under display settings, also I highly recommend increasing video memory to maximum
