This video is 14 years old now, Its 2024 and it helped me! Thank you! I hate those tweeters in the WJ and my ZJ, my ZJ is a bit different though it came with the factory Infinity system. I am amazed that website is still up and running as well, I'm buying some headlight restore.
My '99 WJ tweeter had a capacitor in-line with the positive speaker lead. The capacitor blocks low frequencies from reaching the tweeter. The capacitor was not labeled, but I used a 10uF ceramic capacitor on the new tweeter. Reading through the comments, it seems several people had their new tweeters fail. The failure is due to a lack of this blocking capacitor. I would not suggest using a capacitor less than 4.7uF, because lower values limit high frequencies from reaching the tweeter. Just my 2c's worth.
I got a pair of MB Quart 6x9 component speakers for my 2002 Grand Cherokee and for the tweeters I just cut away the metal arms from the stock tweeter assembly with a dremel tool to remove the stock tweeter cone. The replacement tweeters fit right into that, and there's brackets included to secure them snugly.
Awesome! That was drivin me nuts! I thought the dash was rubbing on something. All the crackling. "Let me tell a story about a man named Ed, who used to sleep and dance with the dead"!
These tweeters are quite nice! I did note that the OEM Tweeters were installed very poorly. When I opened up the panel, I found each tweeter only had one screw to hold it in place and the wires connecting to the adapter were spliced and exposed. The manufacturer did an awful job installing them and I almost wonder if that's why they were so poor. Either way, I got them installed nicely and electrical taped the areas without screws. Nice video. It really helped
i just got my 2002 jeep grand cherokee for my 16th birthday and they infinity system sounds great but the front left tweeter is blown/rattling so I'm going to do this! i appreciate it, greatest help ever!! thanks bro and slayer hell ya \m/
I got a pair of Chrysler/Infinity tweeters for my old '02 Grand Cherokee with the Infinity sound system. Chrysler did not put premium tweeters in the dash and the Infinity amp blew them, so I put actual Chrysler/Infinity tweeters in there. I have a '94 Grand Cherokee with custom Pioneer speakers now but this was an easy repair (: I got my tweeters off of jeeptweeters site.
yep, i just picked my 2000 ltd with the infinity gold system up for $5200, got the same problem, the tweeters are NASSTYYY, the rest of the system (the speakers and sub in the back anyway) are awesome!
@jdebler Right well I always fade the balance back a bit to the larger speakers but I still can't get as loud as I want it. I think I made a good purchase. I mean whats 40 dollars?
I have a 97,GC/ZJ I noticed that my Jeep does not have speakers in the dash, BUT the wires and connector for speakers are there. How do I know what sound system it came with ?
There might be a VIN decoder out there that might tell you. I assume that you have an aftermarket system in right now. I think it might be a good idea to get a speaker and find a way to hook it up to the connector just to test and see if it works. If so...bonus!
Just got my pair in today. Seen ur video and thought a would check out the site. Doesn't look like urs but there covered up anyway. Next might be the 2" coil spacers on there site. To me the gc sits kinda low, might just be mine who knows. I'll post a vid when I get em on. Keep jeepin.
@camaroz28com What volume level can you go up to before the sound starts distorting with them? Right now my jeep will go up to maybe 24 before it happens
what sound where you experiencing i all of a sudden on the driver side started hearing a sound happens at any volume sounds like a blown speaker i cant tell if its the tweeter or woofer should i just replace the tweeters or the woofer they are all factory speakers.
my symptoms are fro the most part the radio sounds good really good but when there is a song with a lot of base or i turn it up i start hearing a crackling popping noise its getting to the point now that it does it at lower volumes dosnt sound as if its coming from the dash though..
+SuperJeremi10 Do you have balance (left/right) and fader (front/rear) controls on your radio? Isolate the sound from the radio to one speaker at a time and listen to each one. That way, you aren't confused by which speaker is bad.
This video is almost 11 years old, they may not have them any more. I just checked and I don't see the message you do, but it looks like their shopping cart might not be working correctly. I'd email them and see if you can still get them.
i did this using the JGCParts tweeters and they're worse quality than the OEM ones. OEM ones lasted 11 years, JGCParts, 4 months. One very close to blown (rattles and hisses a lot) and the other one is on it's way out. looking for some decent branded ones to replace these pieces of junk. any 2.5" tweeter will fit with minimal fiddling.
I just bought me a jeep grand Cherokee and wanna replace the tweeters in my truck with these but i can not find them on the site.can someone plezzzzz help me out.
I have no idea...I made the video over 10 years ago. I would say to check the link in the description and if they don't give the info, "factory size" is a safe answer. 😆
Excellent point! However, most refer to them as tweeters so that is what I called them for effective search results. I will update the description, though.
well i don't know what diff is or if it makes diff but i did learn that the front door hv amps attached to speakers n thus requires only 2 ohms plus hvn like 3 way or 4 way really only inhibits sound at least when amps are attached
Who needs these speakers? Not worth the extra $36 and they are not necessary. I disconnected the dash speakers and the other 4 speakers are plenty of sound. Chrysler has ruined the Infinity name though with these crappy paper speakers. They used to be top of the line speakers. If they used polymer plastic for the cones and not paper they would not be ruined by the sun. (Don't need dual zone climate control either, take blend doors out and leave them out! They cost $80!)
If someone likes quality sound over quantity, they do the job well and for a reasonable price. We are also talking about 15+ year old vehicles in this case, and back the, the systems were decent for OEM systems.

Thanx for the tip. I just bought a 99 GC today and it had the same problem with the tweeters.

Yeah I am about to buy these. I have been getting pissed off that I can't crank up my music. Rock on dude
Are tweeters suppose to give out voice sound during music?

@clayto1332 You will be happy with them! Had them for almost a year now, still sounds PERFECT.
Justin: Did you email the seller? I am sure they'd at least like a change to make it right.
So glad I found your video. I need new tweeters snd when I went to this website I saw the kit for heater blend door. I need that too!!!!
Glad this old video is still helping people!
Just changed my tweeters. So simple and easy...thanks for the video!!!
Did this on my overland Jeep. Sounds good

+SuperJeremi10 Sounds like it would be a blown speaker to me.
i cant tell which one though seems to be coming from the front woofers to me.

I visisted JGC website and it says these speakers are no longer orderable!!!! :( :( :'(

Thanks for reply, I'll look into that.
Do these sound better than the stock tweeters before they were blown?
+Im Gravity I don't know...I bought the Jeep with blown speakers. :)
Alright thanks for the fast reply. :)

Do you know if these tweeters will fit a 2005 Jeep Liberty??
I just disconnected mine but thanks for the site! :)
@rockshox101avidjuicy So i got my tweeters from JGCparts and they don't look like these, but will see how they perform.
Gbu & gracias amigo.
Thank you
You're welcome
@jdebler you dont listen to your music loud enough :)
Bout these from this website in early September and the right one was making noises by mid December... Terrible
Jeez my dash piece is so bridle is broke, thought I was doing it wrong 😂
This is an old video...so...I hope it helped somehow.😎
Cool video!
WOO SLAYER
should of demonstrated the god awful cracking sound that comes from the speakers when they are bad. i will replace mine this week.
You are absolutely correct on that. However, it is indeed one of those "when you know, you know for sure" situations. Sounds scratchy, crackly, etc.
Rip sears
Yes, but not RIP Craftsman. I was just at SEMA and talked to them at their display. They are coming back strong.
they arent tweeters. they are small full range speakers
Excellent point! However, most refer to them as tweeters so that is what I called them for effective search results. I will update the description, though.
