For your information: The Suzuki Jimny workshop manuel says you torque the bearing caps down to 85nm after you set the backlash with the caps torqued 15nm...
Kaiser makes a mechanical/automatic locker for the rear as well as one for the front, Gen4 Jimny. PowerTrax / LockRight makes a simpler version for the Gen3 as well. In case you go for a mechanical/automatic diff locker, stay away from the Chinese knock-off’s. In general, they save money by using cheaper material. LockRight and Kaiser does not.
After watching this I think I have the confidence to try to install one myself ! Thanks !
while looking at you measuring the backlash it gave me the idea that mine is too high, i might have to crack open the diff to measure it,
Can't fault the Titan hand drills for the price - shame they don't make them anymore. Good video!

What about the preloading the bearings after setting the backlash?
Martin, do I need any special tools to fit a rear diff locker in a Gen4? Asking as I’m ordering the Kaiser one in a few days time.
I had to use an accurate dial gauge to measure the backlash
@@bigjimny Thanks. How much backlash did you go for?
Excellent.
Is ARB the only locker for the Jimny? Does the manual Ox Locker not fit? Especially on the Gen 4 Jimny.
There are various Chinese copies around
Kaha ha
Was it an 1/4 npt?
