After I saw your 2021 Mazda3 Turbo review, I went and bought one in Machine Grey. Having owned the car for over 3 years, I can tell you that this is a joy to drive every single day. Even 3 years later when I look around at all the latest and greatest from other brands, the Mazda ecosystem is still the one I want to be in.

    Answer is Yes.
I was at that crossroad 3 years ago and ended up with a '21 brand new 3 Turbo AWD. (Red interior leathers & polymetal gray paintjob)
Since 2019, this gen has killed it. The 3 Turbo with AWD really has a strong value proposition as a long term daily for the comfort and performance it brings.
Plush interior finish, great reliability, affordable service costs. You can even run between 87 octane to 93 on the engine for flexibility. 250hp/320 ft torque is more than way enough for highway & city driving.
As much as the Golf GTI is the more "true hot hatch", but man that VW interior/infotainment and reliability is subpar. The deal breaker for me was the GTI plastics & infotainment on test drive..
I needed a livable vehicle for daily drive between home & office especially when it snows. That Mazda interior & overall drivability really makes you feel your money's worth. (@ premium plus trim)
Hell that torque & AWD should be the icing.
IMO, it will be a tough choice for an enthusiast performance wise but down the line, the Mazda 3 will be great for mods & now has decent aftermarket support.
(The OEM brakes is weak for the power & torque the car has for example so that's on my mind down the road for mods)
You won't regret the choice. Yes, it's entry level pricing that you can get in the Germans but the upkeep drives home the value of the Mazda.
With the way car prices are and service costs, I'm sure most will make that smart decision.

    • @shamalabadingdong
      @shamalabadingdong 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Tough choice for enthusiasts? That part is hilarious.
The Mazda 3 turbo has a non existent aftermarket support compared to the GTI. This is coming from someone who owns neither of these cars.
The ea888 is easily capable of high 300's whp. The Mazda 3 turbo's engine can barely handle 270whp lol.
Include the fact that the Mazda3 has the poorest suspension type available in 2024. We are not calling torsion bar suspension open diff AWD cars enthusiasts vehicles lol. Not to mention it's coming with an archaic slush box automatic. How can that even be compared to a dct.
The Mazda3 is a fine vehicle, but it's a luxury comfortable compact with slightly more power than base models. Comparing it to a GTI, that has significantly more advanced suspension tuning, a front lsd, and a robust engine capable of big power is hilarious.
The Mazda3 is a perfectly fine vehicle without pretending that it's something that it's not. It isn't any sportier than your mom's SUV.
Reliability, practicality, comfort at its price point is undeniable. But it is by far the least sportiest car at its price bracket and segment. I'd definitely consider one as a daily, most people aren't going to be pushing the limits of a car like this. But calling it an enthusiast vehicle is crazy

Having a Super Red II "88 Supra Turbo, I had to go with the red daily Mazda this time. Such an amazing color, much like Candy apple red. 😍😍
Coming from an 2008 Nissan Altima coupe, I'm used to the large rear C Pillars, and yeah using your head and the mirrors, plus Mazda's have a great blind spot monitor, no problem there.
Being AWD (for me in Canada), proven Mazda's reliability, specially with the 2.5 Turbo back from 2015, the GTI didn't even come close with it's boxy look and no buttons interiors.
I was in between the WRX and the Mazda 3, but the exterior looks, great interior, again reliability, real physical buttons and knobs, no big touch screens, won me over.
Right about your Zonks : I already have carbon trims for the piano black, chrome delete for the side mouldings, and 18x8.5wheels for larger 235 high performance tires. 😉
BTW you skipped the "rear cargo area" out of this video even though your were saying you were going to it. 🤔
Being single, the rear seats doesn't bother me and it even have good cargo space! They could even use the USB-C from under the armrest, I have a wireless charger up front 😅
Again Joe great reviews, always love when you go "On Throttle !! " 😎😎

If you're going to use it as a daily driver you can't beat the Mazda3. It's quiet on the inside so when you use bluetooth for phone calls on the highway you can actually hear. And its got AWD and should be the fastest of the 3. If you are comfortable with the view out of it and the interior dimensions buy the 3. It'll be great all year around. But in the Philippines you probably don't get snow.

No car is perfect and you’re right about the tires and wheels. But I do like the look, and the actual driving is lots of fun. So it’s a great daily driver, as you said, and there is just not much available in this class of cars. The GTI looks too boxy. I like the sleek styling of the hatch and the way it handles. The fit and finish is great too. Plus I love the lack of a big screen and tech is so simple. So yes I just bought this same car for a very good price. It is a 2024 “loaner” with 5k miles and certified. I got it for $5k below the $38k MSRP- $33k. Not a bad deal I think. Like new and it will be my daily. I also have a manual Miata as a second car for even more fun

They have come a long way with their cars over the last few years and finally people are noticing how far they have come! Mazda is way too conservative with their tires! All of their cars are held back by their tire choices and we have changed ours out for very good increases in every aspect! Go with slightly wider, stiffer sidewall and better compound for a big improvement in performance! I am curious to see if someone will do a review of these cars with mild changes to see how capable they are when equipped right! We have a 2016 CX-5 Touring and 2018 Mazda6 GT Reserve that have made huge improvements with minimal changes.

For some reason they are having a problem breaking through the name brand/desirability issue. In order to break through I think they are going to need a killer design that sells like hot cakes. Kia went the cheap route and backs it up with that warranty. They gained a lot of market share that way. When Mazda rebranded and broke from Ford they tried to go the reliable route and that hasn't proven to be as effective in the roughly 10 years since. Maybe over the next 10 they'll break through. Their new models are helping so far. The CX50 seems like it is poised to be the next big seller. Its reliable and looks good so at some point people can't keep ignoring these cars.

I had a 2015 GTI, the infotainment system had to be completely replaced TWICE before 8 miles on the car. And thats not a type-o. Literally did not get out of the dealer parking lot before the infotainment system died the 1st time. Took a month to replace. And then died again not 2 miles from leaving the dealer.
