      By birds there is very often situation that dads feed birdy babies more often than mom. Very often both. And genders are a little bit others as by mammals, more complicated. It can even be that this birdy,who to lay eggs is in reality male, because he has different sex chromosomes and this birdy person,who sings is female,because sex chromosomes are less different. By mammals is genetically:male-sex chromosomesXY,femaleXX, by birds is others and much more complicated

    The baby is preening, not handling a "bug attack." It's cleaning it's feathers and removing the outer "skin" to help the feathers emerge.

    6:56 I looked at the "massive grasshopper" and I would say it looks a lot like a katydid. That's no grasshopper! Whichever chick got that fed to it got a massive nutrient boost! :D I'm not sure what species it is but it was definitely one of the green type, some are vegetarian but there are also katydids that will predate on other insects and small lizards, given the opportunity.

    In General, baby animails depending on their parents in early days of life, have a commun situation:
    They are, basically, a diggestive tube, with vocal cords in one end, and NO responsibity in the other end. Just eat and shit. Some parents have special technics of " home cleaning"!

    • @cristoferchanimak
      @cristoferchanimak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! But this is only true for altricial animals. Precocial animals (i.e., ducks, chicken, guinea pigs, turtles, etc.) are born further developed, able to function almost independently, with lesser (or zero) parental involvement.

    Do you know if the piece of plastic got stuck in the chick, or was it passed through the digestive tract without incident? One would think if an item such as that got into the chick, that it would slow down it's metabolism as the chick would have to expel it if it could or starve slowly due to food blocking it's digestive tract. Sometimes if it's not too large, and the bird species is of the type that uses pebbles or other grinding material to aid in digestion of large items, it might stay in that area and assist in grinding up incoming food items. Hopefully not too bad of a blunder for the parent bird.

  • @exidy-yt
    @exidy-yt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That just looked like the chick was preening to me, not any kind of 'bug attack'. I was expecting to see a line of army ants swarming the nest or something, LOL. Also I don't know why but I find birds that eat the fecal sac rather then carrying it away to be gross AF, even though I know it's perfectly okay for them or they wouldn't be doing it. Ah well. Either way, the nest is clean!

    • @amberdusk
      @amberdusk ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The parents actually get a lot of nutrition from the fecal sac - the chick's digestive system still isn't as efficient as an adult's so there's much that just goes on thru without being assimilated. Yeah - super gross tho, lol!
