From the two campaigns I've played in 4.5 (one before, one after the hotfix), Dale is definitely not a 1 in difficulty. You have no money, getting anywhere takes forever, and all settlements around you are tiny. Erebor and Dorwinion do sod all against Rhûn, same goes for the Woodland Realm against Dol Guldur. The lack of money means you can't invest in both monetary and military buildings in you little villages, so you get overrun. The start is indeed very easy, but once you have two of the most powerful factions attacking you on a huge front, it's over.

@@Konrad_IV I mean this mod can be really difficult if you don't know the mod. Enemies routinely fight to the death with even medium tier units. Low tier units lose hard in meele grinds for low-stat factions like orcs. AI campaign and battle cheats are a dangerous combo and you can't really trade even value with it in the early game. Massing archers and heavily relying on bridge battles and castle sallies/assaults to blob enemies to surround and blast them with siege and missile works well but is difficult. Cavalry is hard to come by for many factions and good missile units take time to recruit. You generally lose the infantry grind unless you're in a faction with good infantry (Numenorean descendants, elves, dwarves, elite orcs). Late game the mod IS easy since by then you can have very strong economic potential and have access to elite armies, but this mod is significantly more difficult than vanilla or kingdoms (and more fun and varied, it's a great mod), but the former lead developer calling a faction with a terrible starting economy and middling units except a heavily region restricted elite roster is kinda Galu's style lol. Probably my favourite faction. In my games as Dale, Erebor never did anything against Rhun, and you had to rush south to help Dorwinion before it collapsed. Always a good idea to prioritise Burh Gram (the castle) over the villages, since if Erebor takes Gram you have to rely entirely on Dale and Lake-town for quality reinforcements.

Ah yes, one of my favorite factions. The Barding Hird are one of my all-time favorite units: defensive enough to hold the line, but all the offensive punch of a strike infantry. One time I was going up a Mordor army led by a Nazgul, the Nazgul got hung up a bit on terrain and I just walked a Barding Hird unit into them and watched them start swinging those axes - it was a glorious massacre! Good video as always, Galu. I'm liking the selected quotes at the start of each video, and, suppose I should be nice and not spoil this part at the end. The revamped Ar-Adunaim are looking utterly beautiful!
He doesn't grasp how tiers work. These are the tiers: -trash -militia -soldiers -elites They have their own unique shared attributes. Trash and militia are available before turn 61. There is little difference between them other than one is worse than the other. For example the brown Northmen units seen here are trash while the blue Dalian units are militia. Some faction have no trash tier like Dol Amroth. These units replenish quickly and have high unit pools. Contrary to Arachir's false statement both Dalian Swordsmen and Gondor Militia are of the same tier. Soldiers are stronger still but come in after turn 61 and have smaller recruitment pools usually of two. Elites are rarer and have a unit pool of one and a higher replenishment cooldown. The barrack tiers likewise clearly indicate how these tiers work. There are also tiers like soldier-elites. These are soldiers with elite-like stats. A good example are the Uruk-Hai Pikemen who are as good as rarer elite Ar Adunaim pikemen.

One of my favorite nations to play as. I wouldn't say it is a 1 difficulty, if you compare them with evil Khand or good Ered Luin, but I don't know what changes in Mirkwood in the new version, since Dol Guldur usually attacks you pretty early. Also I'm very happy that the core units are not restricted to regions and I can't wait to play again with them in version four.
Agreed, calling it a 1 is only honest for the first 20 or maybe 30 turns until Rhun finishes Dorwinion and starts invading Dale with multiple stacks of elites. At which point its mostly just down to a drag out grind to see how long you last. lol
Are there any plans to add a new faction to replace the slot left by Lindon? I must admit I do not have many ideas as to what can be added. I guess you can take the LOTRO route and add a dourhands faction in like southern ered luin, or a clansmen or minhiriath faction, or a rhovanion faction to slow down rhuns inevitable late game stampede, or even a separate goblin faction hailing from goblin town (though that may congest the misty mountains). It is also perfectly fine leaving the number of factions as is. I am just curious! :)

You can mod it yourself in the files. Unfortunately I forgot what the file is called, I think it's called campaign.txt or something in the imperial_campaign folder, but in that file you change a value from 0.25 to 0.083, which makes for 12 turns a year instead of 4.
@@Omuraisu0 not just that but probably more on the script txt as well. if im not mistaken just changing that would mean just the date changes but they will still age in every 4th turn
Can't wait for v4. Any plans to include submods "Heirs of Elendil and Heirs of Fingolfin" ? I know you are against scripts but a lot of these story submods are sooo good.
THe Aihwothiuda Horseguard doesn't have the typical cavalry acher formation in circle, is it intended? will it be changed before the release of version 4? Because it makes them way less weak to missile fire, and a bit less effective on the charge, it's to know if it will be a fully dedicated cav archer or really a mix between archer cav and shock cav, doing both correctly but not perfectly
It's a hybrid unit yes and that won't be changed. They're more effective at charging compared to other horse archers as they're the only horse archer in the game that uses a spear as a secondary weapon.
@@joevenespineli6389 Correct, my assumption was that longbowmen have a longer range than other archers due to the fact that they have a longbow. Is that incorrect? Can't say I know that much about medieval warfare, might be that my assumption is wrong

I like that the militia have gotten that slavic twist but the regular roster is still so plain. Dont get me wrong, i love this mod. But would have love to have seen more diversity in appearance between northmen factions. Example "The Men of Dale" represent the Novgorod republic, the great north-eastern trade hub. Or even the later stage kievan rus. Possibly even giving the dorwinions a byzantine look to them. Great work you guys are doing though.
likely a silly question, but when cavalry has "attack 5, charge 5" and in the text it says "secondary attack 4" what is the difference between attack and secondary attack?
@@malachai1381 sry I am still confused 0:-) what is "attack 5" for then? like they have 3 different attacks instead of the normal 2. charge for charging, secondary for stuck in combat, and "attack" for...?

Once I load into the game the cursor is stuck in a permanent loading animation disallowing me to click anything, can't even end turn. Any way to fix this problem without completely restarting the campaign? (already restarted the game/pc)
@@PaulJohn01 I can play other campaigns, it's just Lindon. Problem is I manually saved the turn before so regardless if I load up my auto save or my manual save it basically brings me to the same spot lol
@@94jetsfan Only 1 saved file ? for my campaigns i'll have 5 saved files and just keep saving every 5th or 10th turn. OK with Lindon i found it's actually bugged from the beginning of the campaign as you can't recruit Lindon longspears in your starting regions, that's probably not causing your problem. OK try turning off the FoW and then ending the turn and see what happens, sometimes that problem happens when a faction is wiped out.
Galu was saying that the armour of the lake town pikemen was from the films, and while the chest piece certainly is I can't get past that helmet. The helm worn in "the hobbit" a pointed design modeled after eastern Europe, while the one they wear in this mod is a conquistador design. Has anyone played passive campaign? What i mean is to make you faction strong in economy occupy plus minus 5 settlements and all the rest game play would be to support "allied factions" around you so you dont have any borders with enemies for easy play and money making. All you do its just one army run in to enemies occupy their settlements and give them to allies to expand and progress faster for your own protection and for enemy defeat. After you safe and your neighbours big enough to handle their territories so enemies not coming even close to you, you can jump in to boat and land anywhere on opposite map for some nasty ambushes and support other factions this way. Also maybe you can support them with money?! It would be like with "no CPU movements shown" and opened map to see how allies progressing. If you play for good you can see how they crush Mordor or stuff like that. In fact you will see if they capable of doing it at all. Probably best factions for such style play would be lindon, ered luin, bree, kazadum, erebor, but in fact literally every fation could do that. would love to see someones video on youtube of such play, standard play becoming boring after while.
I did it as Dorwinion once! If you ally with Rhun and max out your garrisons you're safe, untouchable and rich after a while, even with just those 4 settlements... Then you can send all your excess cash to Dale every turn and have Rhun crumble with the money they allow you to earn. hehehehe
dale is not a 1 in difficulty? if you dont do anything for the first 80 turns trying to build your faction up and dont touch rhun, rhun will take dorwinion over and will be too much for your smaller nation

You can mod it yourself in the files. Unfortunately I forgot what the file is called, I think it's called campaign.txt or something in the imperial_campaign folder, but in that file you change a value from 0.25 to 0.083, which makes for 12 turns a year instead of 4.
@@Omuraisu0 Thanks I will try to find it. Can't wait for the next overview these are great!
@@Omuraisu0 not just that but probably more on the script txt as well. if im not mistaken just changing that would mean just the date changes but they will still age in every 4th turn
What was wrong with the previous version's family portraits of Dale???
Will there be a new mumakill model in DaC v4?
I believe Galu said they wont implement a new model for them in this update.
do the pikemen bodyguard keep losing men until below 77 then replenish only to that amount?
I kind of like the Ar adunaim heavy archer to have their shields on their backs instead of strapped.
RIP Chocolate bar shield
Can't wait for v4.
Any plans to include submods "Heirs of Elendil and Heirs of Fingolfin" ? I know you are against scripts but a lot of these story submods are sooo good.
Is it me or does King Bain look like a young John Rhys-Davies?
He indeed looks like the man he is....
Why does the special building in dale give experience when i thought they were being removed.
Why is Bard not included in the family tree/not the faction leader? Did he not used to be the faction leader in previous versions?
I think he was already dead in time of the War of The Ring, in time of the war his son was ruling and after that his grandson.
Ar 4:49, you can see the tombstone at the top of the family tree was King Bard, who died in 2977 (so I think 3 years before start of the campaign)
Ya know, far be it from me to stiffle your enthusiasm but a quick google search would have shown you that he is dead before 2980. :P
Arachîr Galudirithon ahhh true, I was just confused as I thought he was in previous versions, I just want to play as cool, boat, bow man ;(.
Oneru yes I saw that but I still commented 🤣
5:33 burgh cowpiss? :P
Henry 😂😂😂
Grasgard needs to be directly between Erebor and the Iron Hills protecting the trade route. Otherwise what’s is doing there to the South?
Feel free to mod it at your leisure.
What are the differences between the campaign difficulty settings?
You get more money the lower it is.
@ No difference in A.I. behaviour or more enemy armies? I Always wondered this
Appreciate the quick response and just wanna say thanks for all the fun Ive had and continue to have playing DAC
@@feelingpine9123 thank you for you're fast answer ! I can't wait to see how this unique hybrid unit do on the battlefield
Do the Dalian Longbowmen have an above average range, as the name seems to suggest?
I think they have something between 170-180 meters range
@@Fanatik456 180 range. And 170 is typical for human archers of that tier.
Im confused, you think Longbowmen implies they have longer range? Or am I being an idiot again?
@@joevenespineli6389 Correct, my assumption was that longbowmen have a longer range than other archers due to the fact that they have a longbow. Is that incorrect? Can't say I know that much about medieval warfare, might be that my assumption is wrong
@@solreviewsf2x Thanks for clearing that up!
Gotta give this faction a try. I barely use them. I am sort of turned off by the conquistador style helmets they wear. A slavic helmet might be more fitting
Sleep can wait
I didn’t know where else to ask but what software do you use for your video editing? Thanks :)
Movavi Video Editor. It was one of the few I could find with only a one off cost. Most are subscription based.
@ I wasn't expecting such a speedy reply. Thanks again.
I'm facing a freeze of the game with every faction on the end of turn 1. Sbdy already experienced it ?
MODDING: Can forts being modified to give income like a settlement?
Sort of but it involves merchants and is very artificial.
I feel like Dale should be more reliant on mercenaries, maybe give them a similar mechanic to Bree’s merc decision.
Great work you guys are doing though.
likely a silly question, but when cavalry has "attack 5, charge 5" and in the text it says "secondary attack 4"
what is the difference between attack and secondary attack?
Secondary attack applies to charging calvary, it's the attack they use once they are stuck in regular combat and not charging
@@malachai1381 sry I am still confused 0:-)
what is "attack 5" for then?
like they have 3 different attacks instead of the normal 2.
charge for charging, secondary for stuck in combat, and "attack" for...?
How does "inspires nearby troops work"? Does it give them morale boost or combat bonus?
Small morale boost
@@feelingpine9123
It is comparable to increasing the morale from average to above average or a little more/less?
@@kapitanbeuteltier5889 I think it's just +1 to morale
Is the newest version of D&C out yet?
Maybe someone in the comments can help me, I'm currently playing a Lindon campaign and I'm stuck at level 63. Once I load into the game the cursor is stuck in a permanent loading animation disallowing me to click anything, can't even end turn. Any way to fix this problem without completely restarting the campaign? (already restarted the game/pc)
Save regularly . You mean you can't even select a faction or go too saved campaigns ?
I don't think I've ever seen the Dwarves and Rhun actually fight.
Galu was saying that the armour of the lake town pikemen was from the films, and while the chest piece certainly is I can't get past that helmet. The helm worn in "the hobbit" a pointed design modeled after eastern Europe, while the one they wear in this mod is a conquistador design. Quite out of place and a personal eyesore... aside from that I love the roster (just need something to winge about you know)
We found the tea cozy helmets of the film to be personal eyesores and choose these ones. :-P
There's been a... compromise on the helmets. You'll see them in v4.
all this does is make me want to play D&C again. it's a cycle watch a galu vid and want to play again however many hours i've put in.
It's Mordor or the Aduniam. Does it still count if it's two guesses in one?
Edit:
Watching from mobile so I only get 480p and can't really make out specific units
Yesss the Ar-Aduniam will reign supreme!
"Halbeards"😂
Arachir's flat out false sayings are getting even more absurd. How are Dalian Swordsmen worse than Gondor Militia? Did he look at their stats? Is he playing the same mod we are? Gondor Militia 6, 3, 10. Dalian Swordsmen 6, 3, 11. This is gaslighting at this point.
I love the units voices from BFME in D&C but man... check out this mod for BFME and their new voices. They added the Immersion a new level! you should consider asking them if you can use them as well because man they are Movie-class good! /watch?v=fFMtoOAMd8Q BTW keep up your hard work, I will play D&C for the rest of my life until my last breath ! Its like my virtual room where I can remake relive revrite my favourite battles from Sillmarillion. Thank you!
Then you can send all your excess cash to Dale every turn and have Rhun crumble with the money they allow you to earn. hehehehe
Oh man looks like my boi's at the end their traded in their chocolate bar shields for roman-esque shields?
Erebor overview please
dale is not a 1 in difficulty? if you dont do anything for the first 80 turns trying to build your faction up and dont touch rhun, rhun will take dorwinion over and will be too much for your smaller nation
At that point you'll have a MASSIVE economic advantage over Rhûn. Plus you'll have the Dwarves of Erebor to back you up.
How long until we get to play v4 ?
Andy Mac 7
Not 120 year can general live max in the start game script it say 120 years 400+ turns
Hey, so Bard does not appear in DaC?
He's a little bit too dead.
Is it a.a or a dwarf faction I honestly cant tell I mean I wanna say haraad but you already did them
