It actually happened and even described in Hobbit books:
"One day the valley of Morannon saw that army. The whole army of angry barefoot Hobbits armed with pitchforks and bows. Their captain came forward and shouted: "I, Paladin, son of Adalgrim, Than of Shire, Conqueror of Dunland and Isengard, offer you a chance to surrender!"
No one could answer him as guards fell laughing. Paladin shouted again but still got no reply. Only one Easterling got annoyed of Hobbit and shot an arrow at him. But that only got old Paladin mad. He took the arrow out of his chainmail, threw it away and shouted:
"We stood with Dunedain, you fools! Now you can't pierce our armour, you can't break our lines, you can't scare us. Surrender when you still can!"
Then the Black Gate started to open slowly. The mighty Morannon Guard suported by lots of other Orcs and some Trolls prepared to swallow daring Halflings. Easterlings still waited for their payment which was already delayed two times.
"Have they really bought it?! - Council-Master Barliman couldn't believe his eyes when he watched the whole circus from the height of Durthang. - Okay, boys, time to grand finale!"
After those words black sky of Mordor became even darker when thousand of Breeland crossbowmen released their bolts from the walls of Durthang. At the same time at the plain before mighty Hobbit army a whole Dunedain one appeared out of nowhere. Everyone who had a bow started to shoot at astonished enemy...
...That's how Hobbits knocked on Black Gate and made it open. There were no prisoners except Easterlings who still waited their money".

    Hi, i have few suggestions:
    1) Merchant Militia shoud have at least 1 defence skill (even snagas and hobbits have at least 1)
    2) Bodyguards and Gatekeepers should have higher armour stat, given they have better armour than Merchant Militia
    3) Maybe 1 or 2 armour increase for Watchmen units, they need it (and 5 for post BE unit is a joke, even Anduin, Dunland and Enedwaith (wildmen) have more than that, while looking less heavy

@ I admit that I like Bree a lot, but this actually came to my mind earlier (when playing as Anduin and later as Enedwaith AGAINST Bree). I mean look at Elder Guildsmen for ex, they have almost bare arms, no helms to speak of, yet somehow their armour rating is better than that of Watchmen (even River Elders And Woodmen Wardens have 7 Armor and they are armoured in same-ish fashion as Watchmen)
. But nerfing wildmen would be heartless, so i thought this could be the solution
But as I said, those are merely suggestions :)

Playing 4.5, I gotta say, I’m loving playing Bree.
They’re just such underdogs, but they have such great potential if commanded properly. As some other folks say, despite the presence of Hobbits (and later Dwarves), they’re just so _human_ somehow.
I will say though, fighting against Dunland is a little rough. They just attack you so quickly that it's hard to get enough momentum to hit them back.

I feel like merc choice could use something extra. Dwarven swords and hammers are really meh. Merchant Infantry is almost identical to the hammers and the your common swordguard are just a bit worse than the swords. Yes, the dwarves are better but not by much and they don't fill any vital gaps in your army. Remember you'll be making these guys from 1 region around every 25 turns. The crossbows are the only ones that can make an impact on your army as mercenary Bree really lacks good bowmen but then again they're so few... can they really make a difference?
For the most part the dwarves and elves and steelbowmen given to the faction are just tokens because they replenish so slowly and are only made from one province far away from the front. The steelbowmen are the biggest culprits as they take 50 turns to replenish and are only available once you cleanse the Barrow Downs.

Before v4 the big difference between the Dunedain and Bree was the Beacon of Hope system which made the Dunedain use alot of other human troops while Breeland had a more Arnorian feel to it as all you had your standard watch troops and greenway riders available everywhere. Now, however, there is a lot less of a difference since the Beacon of Hope system was removed/revamped... You're just a weaker gimped Dunedain I suppose.

Can you add unique mercs for Bree. It would be cool if they could higher travailing elves or dwarves parties that they could recruit very rarely or even some Gondor trash until to denote well off merchants who are looking for extra coin. This would make Bree very unique in the sense they rely more on others help to fight and can only win on their own with greater numbers. To make it more balanced you could make the mercs very expensive and only found on the great East west road.

Never underestimate armor piercing of 1 missle attack when you have thousands of said attack who are being protected by the meat wall. Your main army can do the distracting, softening and counter archer work.

So i've started playing Bree, and these Gate Keepers are crazy strong. They're using Pike animations arnt they? So they actually have an 18 attack and its armor peircing. Idk if pikes normally are AP, but i've noticed them absolutely destroy units more expensive than them multiple times by now. They can punch well above their weight class like crazy, and the fact that they use Pike animations means they actually experience a slightly higher Defense stat? Because of the pike animations ability to stun lock?

My guess is that you are fighting the Kingdom of Gondor. Firstly because the army has a darkish or dark blue theme, which is shared by Gondor and Dol Amroth. Second, the army composition is made up of medium sized battalions (roughly 120-150 man (or soldier) per unit)). Lastly, I am very certain I saw some of the most splendid units in the game, the famed Knights of The Silver Swan, which can be recruited by Gondor if they construct a certain building near the borders of the lands of Dor-En-Ernil. • @Kirrj
      @Kirrj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

They are already great for Bree roster. Just us them as supporting units. Bandobras archers are the best that you have at the start and still useful there. Hobbits don't know slings (that's good - it's totally inaccurate!) but you can make use of their stones. Just hold the defence on a hill side. When enemy tries to break your lines (good luck with that!), Shirrifs will be able to throw all their rocks with no problem. And every stone that finds target will do damage and lower enemy's morale!

Both. If you stay with Dunedain you will keep some good generals (and get a new Elven one) and get some elite units recruitable. Also you will have one more blacksmith upgrade. Everything is good and you lose no money.
If you stay alone you'll get improved trade (which should be great already) and insane amount of different mercenaries to hire. But your Dunedain camps and troops will disappear - so you lose all the money you spent on them. You will also lose all Dunedain generals who will be rather experienced at the moment of choice. This road offers more but takes out more.
From lore perspective I prefer Dunedain choice: it just doesn't look reasonable to cast away your best ally after victories over Angmar and Moria. But Bree becomes rather big and strong anyway so you can make any choice - you won't cripple your faction.
