The RTV issue is not as bad as the internet makes it sound, the real problem is hard right turns on the track... That's the real killer for these engines.
I think the previous 86 was and still is a good car it just lacked power. We all know that these boxer engines are really bad when pushed for power. The car just needed a better engine I say the previous 86 with a beams or jz is what should have been made this new one is just styling with a little bit more power again proving it just needed more power. This one is a way better car all round for sure but seeing it have issues is not great.
I don't think the Boxer engine is the issue. It's our fuel and the RTV issue. Many 86's the world over going beyond 200k miles and a few in SA over the 200k kms mark as well.
@@daniyaalmaneveld3779 I stock motor that gets hammered on that has nothing wrong with that also being a daily I seriously doupt it..if its such a good engine why so much engine swops in the previous chassis im not talking about this one..
@@daniyaalmaneveld3779 laughs in honda...I dont mean thrash I mean like a daily car you also give some subaru boxer engines need work for them to be able to handle all that what I mean is the biggest issue with the car was its engine thats what niyaaz also means here the car is a great car both the old and new obviously the newer one is way way better all road with more power like the power the older one should have come with.
Thanks for the video. I spoke to a tuner with regards to my 2012 86 since I recently got it and he said to add mix 7L of ethanol per tank of fuel since he had an 86 as well. Stops the pinging and bring the performance of the car up but definitely saves the engine and makes it last way longer. Obviously the RTV issue is a problem on it's own which needs careful attention as well.
Your tuner is a doos. Most of our fuels already have ethanol added in. Too much ethanol percentage actually decreases power. Not too mention your fuel system will rust quicker if the car is parked off.
Swift sport was great when it first launched in SA, but now it's waaaay too expensive. The GR86 is also too expensive but in my opinion paying a premium for GR86 makes more sense than paying it for a swift😂
Love the reviews and the channel, but I have to disagree. The previous generation with a good tuned engine is the sweet-spot. More reliable and the interior is period correct, this looks like a 2015 interior in 2023.
Much better car compared to the last one ☝🏻. The RTV isn’t a issue because the oil pick up is a much better design to the previous model which had the same RTV issue.
Honestly Love the car Would buy one in a heartbeat. But. But That Subaru motor. No. No And this car has one massive problem Corolla Gr. More or less same price. Proper proper Toyota Engine. Much faster.
@@JD73467 stock 2.4 vs tuned 2.0? Seems alright to me. The main issue stems from idiots buying these cars expecting it to be 1/4 mile or straight line rockets, which is the furthest from their intended purpose. A properly tuned FA20 where the torque dip has been taken care of, couple with decent tyre and suspension upgrades should be more than enough to keep any purist happy on a twisty mountain road. But then again, different strokes. All most people care about are dyno figures and 0-100 times..

its like a N/A 90s car

The GR-COROLLA must be mad...
Swift sport or GR86?
What is that beeping sound when you change gears
The shift light/change point
You can set it at any rpms you want. Helps to audibly remind the driver to up shift. But only beeps it doesn't change anything mechanically.
This better than the swift sport that you say is your top 5 car?

There are already many reported cases of engine failure due to RTV in the states bro. Sad
@@leytanfortuin9389 yes I’m aware of it and I own one. Recommend letting the agents drop the pan and remove the loose RTV on first service

Tune gr86 and it is heaps and bounds better than a tuned 86
What about a properly tuned GR86??
Over a 2.0 Supra mk V yes never ove a 2jz or b58 sorry man😂😂
Lol! B58 Supra isn’t as good as you think.
Also the manual transmission in the supra is rubbish. Its numb and sticky. No joy to be had there. The 8 speed ZF is a much better fit to the B58
Over a Supra manual?
You can buy two GR86’s for the price of a Manual supra
Yes
suzuki swift sport is half the price better more fun
That car is sexy joh❤❤❤❤
renaul megane rs and honda type r way better
