- We all want to change the code on our garage door keypad at some point. Maybe you are a new home owner. Maybe you’ve had the same code for years. Whatever the reason, it’s a good idea to change it over time, anyway. Here’s how you can change it on your Overhead Door keypad.
I tried for years following the instructions on the wireless unit. I just gave up until my wife said to get someone out to get it working for a Christmas present to her. Your video just totally saved me $$$, THANK YOU! The instructions on the unit don't show to hold the 6 with the program and up/down button. Your way worked perfect the first try! It's been 9 years with it not working and now it works perfect! Thank you!

Thank you just got my keypad working after 8 years, I decided to try again to get the keypad working thinking maybe i didn’t follow the instructions right, used the instructions on the keypad and on their website, still didn’t work and almost gave up and thought I’ll look for a TH-cam video on this, found yours and noticed none of their instructions mentioned pressing the six key with prog. And arrow key, and it worked , since I have the ability to make my own stickers I’m tempted to make a couple with your instructions on them, sticking one over the keypad instructions and one on the opener on the ceiling somewhere haha
Love this. So glad you have it one more shot. I don’t know why the actual manufacturer’s instructions don’t work. That’s insane to me. Good idea with the stickers. That makes a ton of sense.

Of course doesn't work for me the led indicator just keeps blinking and doesn't stay steady and I have the same exact system as you. Just my luck

Hah. Yeh, I don’t know why the manufacturer makes this so hard. I’ve not tried to program a second door, but appears you can do that according to the manufacturer’s website. See link below. Let us know how it goes if you try!

If this isn't working for anyone.... When I was pushing 357 Program it would just blink fast (error), once I pushed the buttons slower it worked.

I’ve tried this at least 10 times with no luck. I have the myQ liftmaster garage door with the yellow learn button that’s on the back of the unit. No need to remove a cover or anything.
Anyone know any tips or tricks to get this to work.

I was lucky and found documentation that once the garage door is activated from the keypad, any key works for 30 seconds. I imagine this is a built it safety in the event you need to stop the door quickly. After resting the door opener for 30 seconds, the key code is required :)

Prog + 6 + arrow key all at once... Code 3 5 7 then Prog... So random and dumb. Why? Is this a universal standard? Who makes this stuff up?
