This OPEN RECALL On My Dodge Durango Is COSTING Me Money EVERY DAY

  • Shoutout to ‪@TylerPotter‬ for doing the actual factory recall on the Durango!
    I bought a 2011 Dodge Durango for the Turo fleet but ran into a major problem when I tried to list it. There was an open recall on the Durango and that prevents me from being able to list the car on Turo. Even worse the waitlist to get this fixed can be up to two years. The parts are hard to get as they trickle out to the dealers and they fix a couple each week. I bought the car just to rent out and if it's sitting in the shop it's costing me money instead of making it. Either way, we're repairing it today and the recall paperwork is all filed, hopefully it's cleared by Monday and we can put this 3 row HEMI powered SUV in service. We also found out my Durango spent many years in Germany where the original fuel pump relay recall was performed, then was shipped back to the US and it seems every panel has been removed from the car and inspected.

      We can order one relay kit a week. There not back ordered..just Chrysler has decided to only allow one sale a week . Better hope Chrysler's not watching this and found a recall performed out of a Chrysler shop that recall is null and void even if a Chrysler tech does it it's got to be submitted through Chrysler. If it was this easy all these independent shops will be doing them instead of calling the dealer to have it done.

    I've got a hard copy of Stephen Kings "It" which I bought here in Australia in the 90's, after I read it, my sister-in-law read it, ask if her father could read it, he took it back to the US via France and the UK. It was then lent to a friend of his that took it to Canada and then back to the US. I was told it then was lent to another family friend who took it with them to Japan and then again back to the US where my sister-in-law got it back and bought it back to Australia and to me. It's now packed away in a box in a shipping crate on the property... i think. It's travelled more places then I have. Not that it really has anything to do with this but... it's amazing how some things just get around. Cheers for the great content as always mate.

    My buddy just brought an early 2000s 4Runner back from Germany that was brought there when new by someone else in the service. He is the 3rd owner, but since the car was sold overseas, he is legally the 2nd titled owner. Also they are required to go through yearly inspections to be able to be driven overseas as part of the agreement between the military and Germany. He had to replace brake pads almost yearly to pass inspection. The are pretty serious about guaranteeing that the cars are up to standards.

    Not quite sure it'll work for the headlights, but I used signal dynamics load equalizers for the turn signals in my G8, and they've been working for years. One unit does both sides, so extra wiring will be needed to reach across if the headlight feeds aren't near each other.

    I had a guy at a Phillips 76 Oil Change place tell me that if I didn't have my oil filter changed by them that they would void out any type of warranty on gas mileage improvements done by them changing my oil. I had moved into an apartment complex and we weren't allowed to do any type of maintenance on your vehicle, even vacuuming it out. But the Phillips place was right next door and they gave every new resident coupons for a $16 oil change. The amount of upselling was intense. They made it sound like my 2 year old minivan was going to fall apart at any second. Everything was bad on it! Honda made garbage!

    • @clifbradley
      @clifbradley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chrisej5987 They were like that too. They claimed you vacuuming your car was too loud and dumping your floorrmats on the ground dirtied the parking lot or left other trash there. I had to fix the rear view mirror in my wife's car and I had just stuck the adhesive on and had it pressed against the glass. Guy comes along and tells me I need to either stop or close the car door. It's July in Florida. Literally a death sentence. So I made him come around the other side and turn the car on to give me AC. I wasn't stopping. 2 days later I got a letter in my mailbox with a friendly reminder about car maintenance items. Meanwhile the manager had a PT Cruiser that smoked so bad it made you sick, the muffler would scrape across the speed bumps, and the rear bumper was black a can be from exhaust and leaking oil. But me with my car door open was an embarrassing sight

    I had my 98 GMC Sierra 4x4 in Germany. I drove it to Vicenza, Italy and back and had zero problems. I wish I still had that truck. I had so many problems with it when I first bought it used. After working out all the issues it was a great truck. We bought a used Mercedes for my wife while we were there. Couldn't beat it for $3k. We had one emergency brake issue but that's a long story. Sold the Mercedes when we departed and got our money back.

    If this thing is going to take another 30 days to clear the recall database it gives you time to get those hood and trunk struts done and fix whatever's wrong with the driveshaft, more content for you before it begins it's Turo life.

    The color markings are for the guarantee of a repair. Each tightened screw is marked. If one of the markings between the screw and the substrate does not match and is broken, then someone else has screwed it after you. Something on the brakes was probably changed on the car.
    I also had a customer once: a new part was installed, the complaint came a short time later, the markings did not match, an attempt was made to exchange a defective part from another car.

    If you dont have the recall and dont want to pay to replace the TIPM there is a really simple fuel pump relay bypass you can do by effectively bridging 2 adjacent fuses so that the fuel pump is just wired into the switched 12v circuit. Theres even a ready to go bypass kit you can buy for fairly little, or its easy done with piggyback fuses.

    Chrysler and non starts! In 1976 the military started buying the M-880 series of light trucks from Chrysler. Their non start issue revolved around the ignition balance resistor. It came from the factory mounted on the fire wall-well with the hood design, if opened the hood after or during a hard rain the small lake that forms on the hood would run down said firewall and short out the resistor. Look ma no start! Field fix was silicone calk. Updated version they moved the resistor.

    Okay I have a 2016 dodge Durango with 120 thousand miles on it and the car would just stop didn’t know why and it would start running like nothing ever happened it’s very scary and frustrating then I took it to two dealerships and they did 3 recalls on it so I thought it was fixed but it was not and the dealership didn’t even know what was wrong with it. So I did some research and found out that this happened a lot in mostly all Dodge Chrysler, cars and trucks and vans dealership told me it was fuel pump and tips and it was gonna cost me 2000 to fix it and what I found out was I needed to get 😢a jumper cable from the fuel pump motor fuse to cigarette. Lighter fuse and that’s it. The car would start with no problems. It’s a $30-$60 part. Very simple. I hope this helps any questions message me.

    How is the TIPM different than a typical ECM, PCM, TCM? The computer has the grounding or power transistor driver internal then turning on the fuel pump relay. Full current is going through TIPM and only relay control power is going though a typical ECM PCM TCM?

    • @WatchJRGo
      @WatchJRGo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The TIPM is like a power distribution unit, not a computer, just a fancy relay/fuse box. The others are actual computers. 🍻

      @@WatchJRGo what controls the TIPM, the PCM/ECM ? And from the video it sounds like a TIPM not cheap.

    You definitely should buy stocks in the company that makes O'Reillys car batteries and the company that makes O'Reillys lift struts. You're supporting their revenue so you might as well be a shareholder.

      I recently bought hood struts at O’Reilly’s for my 2006 Accord I bought new. O’Reilly’s told me they have a lifetime warranty and are the same manufacturer as the OEM.
      Why wouldn’t the original ones have a lifetime warranty? They lasted 15 years so I’m not complaining.
