Corporate interests are too strong and would insist that she retract factual statements, they would soon call for her being fired from the position. She wouldn't last a year.
The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services is for the sheeple of the United States of America, to help them live long enough to pour most of their hard earned money back into the factory food and medical industries.

I've drunken this easily over a 100x in the last year now. Thought I'd chime in and bust some myths. 1. It's not expensive. Comes down to like $35 (New Zealand Dollar) every 5-6 days. I have it everyday for lunch, or dinner, depending on what I'm doing each day. 2. It doesn't make you gassy. Well, not me anyway. It's helped substantially with my anxiety and depression. 3. Lastly, people are saying it tastes nice. I'm not going to be bias just because I have it so frequently. It tastes like garbage. I don't breathe through my nose when I drink it, it's like downing the compost bin, mate. I don't drink it for the taste, I drink it for the health benefits. Anyway, good luck.

So my first attempt at this was a mess, but I realized where I screwed up: I put the WHOLE KALE in. Just use the leaves. I also put the whole chard in like she shows in the video. Comes out much better, and tastes pretty good.
Did some calculations, and for those wondering, the cost of making this smoothie exactly how she shows (including the same collagen powder) is $7.16. Note, though, that is TWO SERVINGS (64oz), so a single serving (32oz) costs $3.58. Everything I bought at the local grocery store, except the blueberries. I bought the frozen bag at Costco, and they are the most expensive item on the list at $1.07 per cup. If someone wants it, I can post my price breakdown for each item.
Total calories in the smoothie, just how she made it in the video, is 900, but again, that is for TWO SERVINGS. One will net you about 450, which is perfect for a meal replacement. The most calorie dense item is the avocado, followed by the blueberries. Again, if someone wants it, I can provide the calorie break down.

One of the worst combinations is dark leafy greens in combination with chard..or anything from the ground beets family. That high calcium from the dark leafy greens really exacerbates the oxalates.
Its pretty toxic, once you've repeated juices or smoothies like this, a few times. I learned the hard way..believe me!

people please remember most of the veggies are made to be edible by burbank and arent even real foods, lets also remember the victory garden mentality duringwar times when food is low is cute and all but now the out side invaders are fought with the ''anti oxidants'' within from our veggies are victory gardens. this mentality still persist not to mention the slavery farming put on man and the earth, all huge mistakes that modern people are slowly waking up to.

My boyfriend and I made this smoothie today! I was worried it was going to taste bad but it’s good! The avocado gives it’s a little bit of a creamy flavor, the lemon masks a lot of the bitterness from the greens (gives it a tangy flavor), blueberries and apples make it sweeter. I put in frozen blueberries to make it a little icy. It is very fibrous so there is a lot of chewing to it too. We came here from the Joe Rogan podcast lol.

This video saved me, in a way. I made a simpler version of the smoothie and it fixed my bowel movement issue. In addition to being regular and easy every morning, I also have next to no bloating and feel more energetic. I've also applied time-restricted eating - no food after 10 PM.
I make about 3 days worth and put it sealed in the fridge and drink a glass in the mornings. I do add organic apple vinegar and a teaspoon of honey separately though. Over the time, I noticed that it is less effective without carrots (unintentional discovery).
    Thank You Dr. Rhonda!

    1. That blender liquifies everything. It will blend a whole avocado if you ever saw fit to eat the skin and the pit. I'm saying that you can reduce the amount of cutting to nearly zero. It just needs to fit under the lid.
    2. That blender's noise level at full tilt is off the charts for hearing damage. Long-term you need to just hit the "Smoothie" button on the top right of the control panel and leave the room.

I did also ADD some broccoli sprouts since I heard from someone they're good for you ;). I didn't expect any short term feeling or anything but, I gotta report, I had a kind of "energy" / "head buzzy" feeling after drinking it. Hard to describe... Not a bad feeling. Just decent energy + clarity. Highly unexpected.

66 year old Vegetarian, lap swimmer, studied nutrition over 25 years. Discovered lacinato kale recently, made smoothies from it raw, gave me amazing energy surge. 2 months later got a kidney stone from the high levels of oxalates in Kale (also super high in raw spinach). Kidney stones are reportedly more painful than childbirth, I can attest to that. Immediately stopped all high oxalate veggies and nuts, cannot risk another stone - - - - way, way too painful. Some decent company needs to start marketing an enzyme product to break down the phytates, leptins, and especially oxalates present in many vegetable foods. The flavanoids she mentions have incredibly low solubility, most of them just pass right through you. No one has yet figured out a way to increase solubility substantially so the human body can absorb them. Blueberries are very high in oxalates.

    Your shake is excellent, thanks!
    Two points of interest:
The shake has a high amount of arginine/lysine ratio (blueberries c. 3, collagen 1.69). This can easily cause an activation of any of the viruses in the herpesviridae (inc. HSV-1 or EBV) when consumed regularly. I know, because I've tried it. Also, supplementing regularly with lysine-hydrochloride in order to balance out the arginine then throws the salt balance off (due to too much chloride). Again, I've tried :-D
Also, raw tomatoes - some can do them, some can't - regardless of what the studies say. I can't do nightshades without seriously increasing my inflammation markers (hs-CRP) and actual inflammation feelings (joint aches). Wish I could, I loved tomatoes (when I still ate them)!
For further episodes, if you could come up with a nutrient-packed shake that is anti-inflammatory and has most of the usual suspects removed (for the immunity compromised amongst) us, it'd be greatly appreciated by many.

From a nutritionist point of view, this is a great source of info. From a culinary point of view, I would not mix all these ingredients together and would make 2 classes, one as a plat de résistance and the other for desert. I would also be cautious to use only organic fruits and vegetables, especially for the fruits; Apples year after year win the prize of pesticide contamination with strawberries. One thing I often do is mixing these ingredients + quite a few others like a whole onion + a dosage of bulk supplements such as wheat grass (for magnesium), proline, L-glutathione... etc in order to get both the fibers and a wider array of nutrients. Great video.

As someone with Crohn's I've been concerned about anti-nutrients as I take meds for my asthma that deplete calcium to some degree I'm not sure of, coupled with Crohn's that can make calcium absorption difficult with risk of osteoporosis from that alone
My understanding was that whole oxalate is safe in that regard as you
mentioned due to calcium and magnesium offsetting the risk of kidney stones, the reason for that is it binds to magnesium and calcium and make them nonabsorbable
I was putting spinach and beets in my protein and calcium rich smoothie until finding out that tidbit of them being so oxalate rich, to what degree it hinders those two nutrient's absorbability though I'm not sure. Perhaps the oxalate is already bound for spinach due to calcium presence, and in the case of beets you can cook them to neutralize oxalate
Can anyone add to this further with known facts to put this to bed on whether I and others perhaps maybe putting more stock in this "negative" aspects or not?

I'm curious what she has to say about high oxalate in kale, beets, spinach and chard and how eating too much of it can prevent some nutrient absorption and contribute to kidney stones and how some people are not able to digest it properly.

Kale isn't really as high as the others, but I agree about the concern. There's probably about 1000mg of oxalate in all the vegetables in the recipe. Check out a video with Sally K. Norton.

Brandon both. It appears she’s presenting brilliant info, but has limited cooking skills. I love her content I think people are just saying her knife will stay sharper longer by getting a wood board or angling her knife or both.

I had a terrible case of insomnia last year, getting less than an hour of sleep for 5+ days in a row. Doctor was able to manage it with drugs, but I was worried about long term dependency. I started doing research on sleep studies using OTC supplements, and started using 3g glycine/day. Sleep normalized within a month and has been robust ever since. Studies support its efficacy in improving sleep quality and total REM sleep.
