This vid was great. I have beehives and i ha e slovenian beehives. I have a friend who painted on to yupo paper and i had to figure out how to glue the painting to my beehive. These products worked perfectly and the video was really helpful.
Happy to see you are in Barrie......approx. 2.5 hrs from where I live. I am enjoying all your videos (nice to have voice over and unhurried instructions). I have saved each and every one of your videos......Love, love, love your work......Thank you!
Linda Muir oh Linda thank you so much for your kind words. You just made my day! 😊 You should try and come to the Art Tour in November here! I'd love to meet you.
Hi Linda, I will check messenger! It's November 25th and 26th. 10am-4pm in Midhurst. I have a link to tour on my website but it is www.midhurstartsandcrafts.com
LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos and teqniques Jane I'm Lisa here in Florida a mixed Media artist. My favorite thing is Yupo and the inks!!! So I'm really loving your very well done video's and resin , I love Art Resin!!! You breathe life back into my inking!!! Thanks for your awesome inspirations!!!💯💯🌟🌟👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👌👌👌😀😀💖💖💖💖💖
Thank you so much for this video. I love the art work you create and love following your process. I am learning so much from your videos and love your easy teaching style.
Wow Jane, I've watched about six of your tutorials and realized that a lot of work goes into creating a piece. I just received my Mini Mods (today in fact) I have to mention that you certainly ask for a fair price for your artwork considering the time, and beauty, that goes into it. Looking forward to binge watching some more of your videos. Stunning work Jane...TFS!
Thank you so much Jane. love your style of teaching, very generous to share your tips with us all. I am so grateful for artists like yourself who inspire me to give it a go and to not give up. I get so much joy creating and have artists like you to thank.
Great video! Your work is inspirational and I love how you explain each step clearly so I know that if I follow your steps I’m more likely too have a successful experience without just hoping I do 😀 Thank you for graciously sharing your talent and a great tutorial. You’ve obviously put in a lot of time in perfecting your artistic skills. Have a lovely day!! Connie
I love your videos. After watching this one, I was wondering how you clean the glue off the sides after removing the excess glue. Then do you tape the sides and bottom to resin?
When you layer different pieces of Yupo on top of each other, do you still use the matte gel for that ? Do you apply it as generously as you did to the wood?
Zoe's Lovely I only use the gel as well and have had great results. I also use a whole lot less and apply it with a brush on both surfaces so that everything is covered without wasting so much product
I’m thinking about getting some of the supplies you suggested. Thanks for sharing all your great knowledge. I love your artwork and you’ve now inspired me to give this a try with alcohol inks.
I'm amazed that the gel medium keeps it sticking and wont peel off. Thanks for sharing this Jane. I thought I'd need to use a different glue for yupo. What if I'm not resining the finished product? Still use the gel medium? :)
Jane, thank you so much I've been struggling trying to figure this out. One question - did you seal the yupo paper/art before you did this? I've been told I need a fixative otherwise if I put the matt medium on top of the yupo it will show streaks. Thanks for your help
Hi Jane - I have followed you on Instagram for a while, didn't realize that this channel was you...I love your work! I love your "Jane Loves Design" catchphrase too.
Sorry if someone has already asked but do you have a link to buy the wood panels I’m struggling and can find only small ones 🤔 You are so inspirational thank you xx
Hello thank you for the well executed demonstration. I'm just starting to work with birch wood panels. Im painting on them and plan to seal them after with #ArtResin or a varnish. Would you recommend the GAC 100 for priming for that or is it just in cases of mounting? Also. I've been seeing you and your work everywhere! Congratulations on your success. Your an inspiration
Hello, and thanks for the info. But I have a question, why not put the paper on the board first and then do the artwork with the alcohol ink after it’s melted?
Hi Jane! I can't believe how many wonderful things you've taught me about ai - thank you thankyou! So here's my question: imagine, if you will, you were just daring enough to create a large piece that you wanted to adhere to the drywall of your bathroom ceiling. What adhesive would you use?
Hi Jane. Love your channel. Quick question. Have you ever mounted yupo to an artist panel that has a pre gesso white surface and would I do it the same way as this?
tammy anderson yes. You can still add GAC100 as that acts as the sealer. Gesso is a primer that prepares the surface for painting. So because I am adding yupo, to the panel gesso isn’t necessary but I still would seal it.
Please could you help me Jane, I have bought some ampersand panels like your wood ones can I do the same way as you have shown I watch all your lessons your a great teacher thanks so much. Xxx jill
How long have you been doing this technique-what's the longest time test you've seen it stay securely glued? Golden tech support just told me they don't recommend it and consider it an "experimental use", that their gel medium doesn't adhere well to Yupo because of the chemical composition of the plastic and smoothness of the surface, but yours look great, have any come apart later on??
Karen Marston yes that’s what they told me several years ago when I asked the same question. They say that because this process hasn’t been around long enough for them to judge. It takes weeks, sometimes longer, for the glue to dry because you are adhering to a non porous surface. I pulled, or tried prying a piece of artwork apart I had for 3 years as an experiment and had a hard time removing all of it. You’ll find if you try this yourself that the yupo, or polypropylene, actually pulls off in fine layers. I also resin my work so that makes it harder. Maybe I’ll do a video on it. Lol.
Thanks for sharing this. I have been agonizing on how to get my art framed in a gallery quality way. Frames and mattes are so expensive and such a personal thing for people. Mounting art on a wood panel is the ticket! I hadn't thought of that and it solves my dilemma. Thanks Jane!
Hi Jane. I love your art and videos. Could you please tell me what adhesive to use when you put yupo pieces on top of the first yupo piece. Thankyou for your videos. Regards Sandra
Thank you so much! I'm a newbie to alcohol inks and cradle boards and never tried resin yet! Can I spray varnish the painting once mounted on the board instead of resin?
i am a little confused. so i first prime the birchwood with GAC 100 and then apply a coat of the matte gel afterwards? or you can use either one or the other?
this is so interesting Jane. I am wondering though, is the yupo paper already designed or is this your art work on the yupo paper? Thanks so much for your channel, I will look for your website.
Your work is beautiful and so inspiring. How long to you wait between mounting your pieces and doing the resin? I have done resin on acrylic paintings and it is recommend to wait a few weeks for the paint to cure properly. I wondered it the gel medium needs the same thing.
Hi Jane I’ve been loving all your videos!!! I have a question. I’ve looked and looked but find any info on what you use to glue the yupo paper pieces on top of the yupo base. Thank you for this video.
Hi Jane, I love your video and artwork! I have a question. I followed these instructions and everything went very well. A few days later there are now bubbles under my Yupo that were not there when I first completed this. I tried to take a pin and push out the bubbles but that did nothing. what would you suggest? I worked hard on my artwork and now am not sure what to do. I haven't done anything more as I am not sure where to go with this.Thank you!
Great video...can u mount yupo to any other surface for hanging? And can u prep a reg gallery canvas to make surface non porous for using alcohol inks? Thx for all that u share 🎨
Andrea Harutunian Yes you could mount to other surfaces.😊 You can prep a gallery surface to make it non porous but I find the surface not as smooth as say Yupo paper and I don’t think the inks are as vibrant.
I saw in another video that you apply your yupo shapes with stick glue. What is the best product in your opinion? Should I get GAC 100 for priming and a matte gel or would stick glue work just the same?
I use to mount my artwork onto a birch board and I did use Mod Podge. However, eventually I looked for other mediums because it would bubble a lot and was frustrating.
Hello, thank you for the very informative video!! I will definitely try your technique in the future! I have one question. Would you say it’s necessary to resin coat it after or is UV&varnish spray enough?? I usually spray coat my alcohol ink painting and put them in a frame but would definitely want to try mount it on a wooden panel, but never tried resin coat it and I’m a bit scared to try… x
When you first prepare the board are you using both the GAC 100 and Liquitex Matt gel together. Or did I understand you to say you can use either or, they do not have to be applied together on the panel? Thank you.
great help! but I can’t find the list of supplies where shall I look ? Also when you prime the Birch panel do you do it on all sides or just the side your painting goes on ?
Geraldine Powell prime where you are painting. I should have a link to my shop in the description box. But you should be able to find most products locally if you have an art supply store in your area. 😊
Jane, I'm just loving your videos! Thank you for generously sharing your ideas and skills. You are a gifted teacher. Anyway, I was just wondering: why prime the board with GAC 100 if the next step is to mount Yupo on it? Anyway, thank you for your great videos. You are inspiring to me!
Anne Livingston you’re right. You don’t have to if your covering with other material. Most times I leave the top but some people will paint the boards instead of mounting so it’s just a basic step for everyone. 👍🏼😊
Hi Jane, Thank you so much for sharing your tips. As a newbie, it is appreciated! You mentioned there would be a link to the plywood boxes but I didn't see it. Can you provide this link? I suppose the boxes can be self made to? Thank you, Corry
Hi Jane, great video, do you ever colour the board with coloured gesso or similar then glue patterned Yupo onto coloured board if so what are you using to glue Yupo onto primed board
Thank you so much for this informative video Jane! I would love to see you do one of your pieces with layers & a bunch of cut pieces as well as when you resin it. Do you use the Kyrlon Kamar to see the yup before you attach it to the board? Or do you seal it with anything else before you resin?
scorpionzdezignz You are so welcome. No I don't use a top sealant only because I continue with a resin layer so there is no need. But a sealer would be good if you are leaving it as is. Yes, I'll probably do a video of the collaging as I had other requests for that too. 👍🏼😊
Great videos Jane. I am new to alcohol inks and yupo paper but loving what I am creating :) I have a question in regards to the birch board you used - do you only recommend this type of board for mounting? I have heard of gessobord being used but not sure how it reacts with alcohol inks. Thanks and I apologize if someone has already asked you this question before!!
Hi Jane. Thank you for your tutorials. They are extremely helpful!! Is it possible to mount yupo on wood panel if the yupo is slightly warped from a heat gun? I assume it will be difficult to get it to adhere flush with the panel and therefore the resin won't self level. Look forward to your reply. Thanks! Liz

Very nice demonstration. Love that painting. Thanks.

This is a great video, thank you. I called Golden and they said I didn't need the gac, only the gel. I was surprised.

Lovely 💕colorful art resin work on wood panels ...grt Thanxs for showing the techniques
When you cut shapes out of the paper with Cricut, which setting do u use on Cricut to cut yupo paper? Thx!
Thanks so much for sharing your techniques~!!! You are amazing Jane! Just noticed you are a southpaw!~ My mom is too..:)

Is the Canva paper meant for alcohol inks as well? Thanks for your videos, they are very inspiring and helpful.

Kacy Collins Pollak 😊😊
Thank you for sharing this ❤️
Thanks so much for this video - I've been wondering about other ways to display my yupo paintings. Will definitely give this a try. :)
Awesome!! Can you use the GAC 100 on gessoed wood panel? Thanks
Hi Jane. I love your art and videos. Could you please tell me what adhesive to use when you put yupo pieces on top of the first yupo piece. Thankyou for your videos. Regards Sandra

Hi Jane I’ve been loving all your videos!!! I have a question. I’ve looked and looked but find any info on what you use to glue the yupo paper pieces on top of the yupo base. Thank you for this video.
Ann Lengyell I cover this process in my online courses at www.janesclassroom.com.

I worked hard on my artwork and now am not sure what to do. I haven't done anything more as I am not sure where to go with this.Thank you!
Patricia Lintner you probably didn’t have enough glue on the panel so when dried, those portions didn’t stick properly and you ended up with bubbles.
Should I get GAC 100 for priming and a matte gel or would stick glue work just the same?
kara skipper yes matte gel is fine.
From where did you get the coloured Yupo paper like plastic?
I use to mount my artwork onto a birch board and I did use Mod Podge. However, eventually I looked for other mediums because it would bubble a lot and was frustrating.
Hello, thank you for the very informative video!! I will definitely try your technique in the future!
I have one question. Would you say it’s necessary to resin coat it after or is UV&varnish spray enough?? I usually spray coat my alcohol ink painting and put them in a frame but would definitely want to try mount it on a wooden panel, but never tried resin coat it and I’m a bit scared to try… x
Thanks for the easy video. So helpful. Do you put the GAC 100 for all the sides of wood or just the front where the paper is mounted?
Why do you use GAC 100 instead of gesso for prepping your panel? Thanks for a great tutorial.
This is so helpfull, thank you👍instead of liquitex matte medium, can I use Golden matte ledium?I gues it is the same,no?Thanks
Ingrid Wouters yes absolutely 😊 Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Just what I was looking for. Would it be ok to use gloss gel medium instead of the matte? I have a giant tub of the gloss.
Jackie Begue yup. 😊
When you first prepare the board are you using both the GAC 100 and Liquitex Matt gel together. Or did I understand you to say you can use either or, they do not have to be applied together on the panel? Thank you.
Great video. I learnt this from Robert Burridge for watercolor paper . He is great if you need to learn about bold colorful loose painting. Cheers
Neena Me awesome.
great help! but I can’t find the list of supplies where shall I look ? Also when you prime the Birch panel do you do it on all sides or just the side your painting goes on ?
Geraldine Powell prime where you are painting. I should have a link to my shop in the description box. But you should be able to find most products locally if you have an art supply store in your area. 😊
With the GAC 100 do you brush it on the sides and on the underside as well?
At this finished point can it be resined ? Also is your artwork have a seal on it? Thanks so much for such great help!
what glue to use your pieces to yupo paper is that spray glue?
Is the roller you use soft or hard rubber?
Do you think I could use the Golden GAC 200?
Do you ever use acrylic paint on Yupo? I always use Acrylic and have never used alcohol ink. Do you know the difference?
Jane, I'm just loving your videos! Thank you for generously sharing your ideas and skills. You are a gifted teacher. Anyway, I was just wondering: why prime the board with GAC 100 if the next step is to mount Yupo on it? I thought that the priming was to avoid Support Induced Discoloration, but if non-pourous Yupo is in between the board and the paint/ink/etc, then I'm wondering if the step is necessary. is there another reason why you are priming the board besides to avoid SID? Anyway, thank you for your great videos. You are inspiring to me!
Anne Livingston you’re right. You don’t have to if your covering with other material. Most times I leave the top but some people will paint the boards instead of mounting so it’s just a basic step for everyone. 👍🏼😊
Great! Thank you. Just making sure I haven't been doing this wrong! Thanks again!
Hi i wanted to ask if I plan to seal with art resin over the yupo paper, should i do it before or after mounting on the wood panel? Thanks!
Hi Jane, Thank you so much for sharing your tips. As a newbie, it is appreciated! You mentioned there would be a link to the plywood boxes but I didn't see it. Can you provide this link? I suppose the boxes can be self made to? Thank you, Corry
Corrin Deale Strunk they are harder to find online. I buy mine locally. You may have to source someone near you.
What do you seal it with?
Hi Jane, great video, do you ever colour the board with coloured gesso or similar then glue patterned Yupo onto coloured board if so what are you using to glue Yupo onto primed board
Mark Lovelock no need to colour gesso if you’re covering it up with yupo. The glue I used here in the video is by Liquitex
Thank you for responding, I greatly appreciate it and I look forward to what you bring in your next video. :)
You are so welcome. New video coming out today! :-)
YES that would be great!!!! I too am very interested in the collaging
Where do you get the boards you mount the work on?
Hi Jane. Thank you for your tutorials. They are extremely helpful!! Is it possible to mount yupo on wood panel if the yupo is slightly warped from a heat gun? I assume it will be difficult to get it to adhere flush with the panel and therefore the resin won't self level. Look forward to your reply. Thanks! Liz
liz brott why are you using a heat gun on directly on yupo?
Love your art. Did you use alcohol ink in the yupo or did you buy it like this?
Love this video! Have you ever mounted yupo on foamcore? Just wondering if the same gel would work?
si je n utilise pas de résine a la fin que me suggère tu de mettre? un vernis en spray uv?
Loved this demo. Did you seal your painting first (assuming it was alcoholic ink?) If not would you do so in any case?
