"but this time they truly mean it"
great
😂
But will it run Crisis without fans like a Macbook?
a promise from microsoft. wow that means… like… nothing.
can it replace macbook pro or air?
@@koenigneroYes, it can, and the MacBook Pro has fans too. So...
999$ with 16GB of RAM is pretty amazing!
It does sound good doesn’t it (16GB RAM). The only thing is will having all that background AI increase minimum RAM requirement also? I’m just waiting for some detailed reviews to confirm and then I am all in….
But 256GB of storage, that sucks
Massive step up from the other ARM competition @@SinghBivek
Add another $350 for that keyboard.
@@SinghBivek external SSD?
Really wanna see some real world performance tests of the new ARM CPU's.
I am willing to bet only native apps are gonna be somewhat competitive. Any emulation from x86 is gonna be crap. mark my words
@@ademiravdicI mean there’s been tests done on the last emulator and it’s about as good as apple’s. This new one is 20 percent faster and now the hardware is much more powerful, with windows redesigning itself for arm. It may be a decent experience tbh
@@ademiravdic Yeah, but that was the same with Apple's Rosetta emulation. It'll take time for all apps to migrate to ARM, but I'm willing to wait. However, no amount of waiting will make up for poor hardware performance. I hope their claims of M1 performance levels are accurate.
Microsoft famous for patching
@@ademiravdicI recall they mentioned a new emulation layer. Should be better The old one was garbage
2:25 "all day battery life of this laptop but this time they TRULY mean it ..."
So you want to tell me that THIS TIME Microsoft isn't lying about the battery life (and everything else). Let's just say that until I see accurate benchmarks, I won't believe a word.
Snapdragon is more power efficient
Yeah the difference is now it’s on arm so I buy it
if it's arm, this is probably true.
I give some blame to Microsoft, but I give more blame to Intel for gassing up Microsoft about leading battery life performance. This is why Microsoft made the switch to Qualcomm. They were tired of Intel's lies too.
"All day battery life" that means the battery should last at least 16 hours in minimum for light tasks (office apps, browsing and watching videos). I'll wait for the full review to come out to see if that claim is true
They have never matched the gray color of the first SurfaceBook, it was glorious. Now, in silver, it's fine, but the other one had an almost textured touch that was sublime.
This video did more to sell me on these devices than Microsoft's own event, lol. I love the appreciation to the subtle details in the design that you guys show by zooming in, slowly panning across the design, describing the colours, etc.
That flex keyboard should've been done millennia ago but I'm so glad it's here now
what flex keyboard?
@@KisameSempaifor the new surface pro
$350 w/o a pen is absolutely ridiculous though. I'm glad the last gen keyboards will work on these new SPs!
@@zerocal76 don't worry, it'll take another 5 generations for them to realize people hate that shit
Goobers
@@zerocal76they took their pricing from apple 😊🤪
So i just checked the website and their wording is still "up to 14/20 hours of video playback" if you're listing those battery life specs as video playback i think you can immediately cut those numbers in half or more for real world usage. I don't doubt the battery life will be better but not nearly to the extent those numbers suggest simply due to the fact it's local video playback.
Do they use same cooling for both 13 and 15? 39w seems low for Elite x variant. 13 and 15 when configured to the max at 64GB and 1TB ssd is only 100$ difference. Is the display on the surface laptop OLED or just IPS?
Won't the new pen compartment cause the pen to make markings in the screen?
that glare on the surface is still insane
Why is it "cool" to loose the right Control Key for the new Copiolot Key.
Why would we need a dedicated Copilot Key? When pressing the Windows Key, the Windows Search automatically opens. Why not integrate Copilot there (like with Cortana)?
Holding Windows Key would've been the best option
No one uses the right Windows Key! Respectfully!
The Copilot key replaces the Menu key. Surface never had a right Ctrl key. Menu key is still available by holding Fn and pressing the Copilot key.
@@chfgn Good to know. I think the Menu Key is really handy (if keyboards have it)
The Menu key is USELESS.
It's literally right click. That's it.
Do these have the embedded into the CPU, Pluton TPM, as the Core series Intel will have?
Really waiting for them
the pro does look pretty nice with the oled screen. the 45 TOPS number is a bit funny though, that's actually really low compared to desktop gpus... those require alot more power though so yes it makes sense for a laptop/tablet, but its not like its blowing everything else out of the water. AI also requires a large amount of ram too so i really wonder how capable these devices will be in practice, especially for things like video editing
Well. Seems like 12Gb will be used without doing any work on the device itself. ._.
45 TOPS is for the NPU.
Will we ever see a desktop with this processor?
Is it compatible with an external gpu?
theoretically they can make it use an external GPU... but I don't see them making a Desktop version any time soon, not until they can get a faster version out. AMD and Intel are working on specific chips for this, and are more likely to keep doing higher end machines, while ARM sticks to the slower mobile type devices for the next couple years.
I suspect we’ll see a new Surface Studio with Snapdragon at some point, but there’s not much of a market for non-upgradable desktop machines these days. Most people just buy a laptop and plug it into a monitor if they’re not kitting out a custom rig for gaming or media production.
Pre order only shows the blue for the small screen. Will they offer the blue in the 15 in screen ?
I nearly spit out my drink when you said that keyboard is $350
I mean, it now does more than the Magic Keyboard. So it’s actually a good price.
@@indyjones720 No it's still overpriced
@@Fayem718 how so? 😂 you literally get a stylus with it too. Apple’s Magic Keyboard you don’t and are required to spend even more money on their stylus.
@@indyjones720 The one that comes with the stylus is 450. Same price as the magic keyboard and an apple pencil
@@indyjones720 $350 is the price for just the keyboard. The bundle with a pen is an extra $100.
Can these edit video 4K video to be exact?
The Snapdragon X chips look promising! With everyone complaining about the Intel models' battery life, it makes sense Microsoft switched to Snapdragon for better efficiency. Plus, both the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop coming with Windows 11 make them even more tempting!
man ive been waiting for this.. Im planning to buy a Mac because of battery life, but think this X Elite Processor is the way to go
Glad Microsoft is finally listening to feedback on the thick bezels and battery life.
Stop using Windows and start using Linux. Linux golden age is coming. Too bad Microsoft will go bankrupt soon.
Whats the info on GPU?, nobody is mentioning anything about GPU.
Qualcomm Adreno GPU, this is an ARM device!
Should be roughly on par with a 780M iGPU from AMD
GPU simply not powerful enough for serious graphics applications. If you want a serious ARM based machine go Mac.
Does Snapdragon use unified memory architecture, sumilar to Apple's M-series chips?
What Wi-Fi 7 chipset are they using?
Do the key letters and texture still wear off way too quickly for something of this price? Love my laptop 5 but not this issue 😢
happens to my friend no matter what keyboard he has but he also seems to rust out his guitar strings really fast so I think he sweats acid
yes, recall is so cool capturing the screen all the time. So just picture yourself opening your banking apps, and it takes a capture. Then a flaw, or bug, allows someone to access the details in the NPU and transfer that detail out without you knowing. And don't pretend that can't happen with security, we've seen tonnes recently of CVE issues similar.
it isn't recording the screen, it is assigning key words and recording those, all offline, what you are talking about doesn't sound likely
@@GarrusVakarian-to2uh Zac did say it takes a snapshot of the screen and that is later analysed by the NPU. So @summoner2100 does have a valid point and I agree that needs to be checks. The only work around I can see is that banking apps are excluded once downloaded from the store. However, this bring up another issue - having a exception list of all banking urls on device to not take snapshots of your banking information.
@@GarrusVakarian-to2uh same principle, and all it takes is slight errors in code to capture the wrong details.
@GarrusVakarian-to2uh it also literally says its capturing the screen. Which is how the demos show screenshots of windows
This could help stop crime... 🤣"Copilot has detected possible illegal activity in your banking habits... are you running a criminal enterprise? Don't worry we have notified the police and sent them all contents of your computer. Thanks for trusting Microsoft with your computing needs."
Needs to run Tradestation and Luminar Neo. Will it?
We sell the keyboard with out pencil?
3:10 is it just the way he's holding it or does that screen not close evenly on both sides?
It's a demo product, anyways. It's like going to a car show and being like, "the door doesn't line up perfectly".
is the keyboard still as flex as tampon on all the surface laptops?
Would it be fair to say the Elite Plus is broadly like a Core i5 and the Elite X is broadly like the Core i7? Most people get Core i5 so am interested to learn if most people really need the Elite. Thanks.
The X Elite can be both i7 & i9 depending on wattage if we just go by Qualcomm's benchmark.
I'm a bit more shaky on the X Plus, but it probably can be both i5 & i7 depending on wattage.
What happened to surface pro 10???
Doea the screen now have an anti-reflective coating?
What type of screen is it as far as durability like is it gorilla armor . Cause im interested in it but am worried the screen hasnt been improved cause privous models screens cracked easily
how do use the touchscreen on the surface laptop if you can't fold it?????????
Could we use Copilot+ existin pc's with new gen gpu's nvidia or amd.
Is copilot+ the same as copilot pro? Or just the regular copilot
Is the trackpad as good as on the MacBook Pro?
1:35 I truly love the haptic vibration and the simulated click will be an exciting feature to use. It may not mean much for everyone but I believe a strong haptic vibration is easy for anyone to get comfortable using. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
Do the surface laptops also have oled display option??
All I want to know is can the AI features/co-pilot be shut down completely? Basically I want to disable all that cr@p and use my laptop as before. Can that be achieved?
then buy Mac
Will the Pro 11 be compatible with Clip Studio Paint?
Guess two classic Surface Pro things came back from the past, the battery and a BT enabled Type Covers. I owned (and still have somewhere) the original Surface Power Cover for my Surface Pro 1 which was a big necessity back in the day to make the thing last more than 3 hours, and I also remember there was an add-on for a Type Cover that made it work like a BT keyboard, not sure if it ever came out but I guess we have it finally with these new ones.
Also glad to see the Surface Laptop has more than one USB-C port. I/O on the Surface Laptop was always a problem and one of the reasons I don't like it. Glad to see it now has two USB-C ports and still keeps the USB-A port. USB-A ports on thin and light laptops are a dying breed so hopefully Microsoft won't touch the design again for another 7 years so we can keep the USB-A lol.
I searched and yes there were. It's a "Surface Wireless Adapter for Typing Cover"
They should redo this concept.
Will google drive finally work with windows ARM?
still dont know if it has keyboard backlight? dont see that on ms page
Is the laptop better than the Samsung book 4 Ultra?
why no OLED for surface laptop?
I only looking about work and sometimes play world of tanks this laptop i can have good fps from world of tanks ?
Can the Surface Pro run Adobe After Effects?
I wonder how long the battery will last.
Finally the upgrade I've been waiting Microsoft to deliver. A premium thin and light Windows laptop that is not overpriced. At 999$ for the base model is actually a good deal!
How about gaming and a headphone jack?
Who will swallow and attach the other first? Windows or Android?
is there anyone else who wants to know which of the snapdragon elite variants are in the pro 11 and laptop 7?
I have had a 2013 Macbook Pro for awhile, but I might be switching back finally. Always used windows at work and grew up with it so more familiar with the UI. Apple won me over for personal use with its Retina screen and long battery life. Now that these devices have both, it could be time….
It will soon be most sporting events.
I was really hoping they would start using anti reflective displays on these newer models
Here i am, still using a Surface Pro 4 lol (i7-16-256) it was pricy in 2016, but it still manages light stuff just fine.
oh mine died a long time ago, SP4 had issues with screens failing
@@paulgerhard5170 mine has been great. I didn't care for the battery like I should have. But other than that it's still capable. It's great to have as a computer to travel with, despite it's old battery. Mainly use it at work so I can browse freely lol.
I’m still using my SP3. Although I bought a Asus M16 to replace…I should have waited for another lighter laptop.
@@kaym7704 yeah. I have replaced mine as well with a legion slim 7. But I still use it at work.
@@kaym7704k😮😊
Can it run Cryzis?
What software can you run on it?
That Gold one looks amazing. Though I wish Microsoft had a rose gold variation like Apple used to have. But still I'm definitely getting one
Does it run x86 programs? Does it emulate them well at least?
Yes they do using Prism.
is the keyboard backlit?
256gb is a bit tight but looks interesting, been ARM will some windows programs no longer work
Like keyboard idea
1:23 Victor Abarca 😁
I got a Surface Book which is just great. It is like the best of the laptop and surface combined in 1.
Will the LCD glass spontaneously crack for no reason like its predecessors? 😮
gone through 3 surface from 3, 6 and now 9. I have never experienced such.
I love the 3:2 display
No mention of not being able to 100% turn off Copilot?
no surfacew studio on arm ..was hoping for it
Surface pro 11? When did the 10 came out?
But can we it run x86 programs?
what exactly does "all day" battery mean?? I'm semi-retired and my 'all-day' is about 3 hours, that's horrible battery.
Stop using Windows and start using Linux.
So will older laptops now running on Windows 11 also benefit from this Copilot+ PC update?
No. "Copilot+ PC" is more like a certification/specification, like the "Intel Evo" certification. It is not an update.
Among many other requirements, the PC has to have an NPU that is capable of at least 40 TOPs to be certified as a "Copilot+ PC"
The only chip with 40+ TOPs NPU that you can buy right now is the Snapdragon X chips, which was just released right now. So you'd have to get a new PC if you want experiences that are exclusive to Copilot+ PCs.
That’s why you should move to Linux.
Does anybody know if Autocad and Revit can be run on this?
Can you game on these Arm laptops?
Pre-ordered a Surface Pro with the X Plus (don't really need the power of the Elite) ....excited to move on from my 4 year old XPS 13
Stop using Windows and start using Linux. Linux golden age is coming. Too bad MicroBloat will go bankrupt.
does it have mobile data?
is any of these fan-less?
Lovely updates, though $350 for the keyboard is truly audacious 🤣. BUT I love the OLED display update. Hoping they add it to the surface laptop studio 3 and improve the resolution too.
This is arm based os right ? Im abit lost , what can arm based perform compare with normal os ? Will we have flexibility on installing application?
Battery life and performance. Almost no heat
Stop using Windows and start using Linux.
I really don't understand why the surface laptop isn't getting a better display (oled/ microLED..)
Probably surface laptop will get oled in the next iteration. They're just starting with surface pro and trying to collect data how many people would buy the oled version.
supply... demand... profits... They copy Apple heavily in design and comparisons. Apple uses very good screens on their pro tablets, and their little non-pro Macbooks like the Air use normal LCDs. MS is doing the same.
is this an ARM device? does it run x86/x64 apps?
yes and yes... but there will be performance hits running them.
Looks great. Will wait for comparison with AMD Strix Point based laptops coz I need Hypervisor support for my laptop and ability to print to legacy printers.
Just need to know if its strong enogh to edit 4 and 6K in premiere pro with an external screen... dont care about the price if it can do that just half as good as the Apple M3
Adobe doesn't even have a Windows Arm version of Premier Pro available, so you'll have to wait until they release it which could be a few months time or a few years. Who knows with Adobe. You'd have to be absolutely nuts to want to edit video using an emulated version in the meantime.
@@stevenicoll Yeah I thought so much... Dang it!
Im pretty happy with my intel i9 13900KS + Noctua RTX 4080 Desktop setup together with my M1 pro macbook pro. BUT... the dream has always been the Surface.. they just never made it powerfull enogh.
Yes, the Snapdragon X Elite does indeed have the Microsoft Pluton TPM embedded right into the CPU. This is part of Qualcomm’s intelligent security features that help protect your PC from chip to cloud Thanks CoPilot!
is Surface Pro 11 valid for coding?
2:04 I'm not seeing a mention of microSD by any reviewers though?
Stop using Windows and start using Linux.
any laptops with Nvidia GPU?
I'm a longtime Macbook Pro user, but boy, I want one of these so bad
But why is an ARM tablet (SP 11) so heavy and thick? Surface pro 7 with i7 is thinner and lighter. Surface pro 11 is too heavy and thick. (Im Surface pro 8 user) I though new Surface pro 11 will be thin and light as Surface pro X. So i cant upgrade now.
Stop using Windows and start using Linux.
the price for the elite model is off the charts though, with and without keyboard...at that price it should have been at least a 15
Thanks for the great video 🤗
Stop using Windows and start using Linux.
Does it keep taking screenshots when you watch movies?
yeah, I would disable it the first second i get this laptop.
Is there also a Surface Laptop 6 and Surface pro 10? I’ve got confused

What I want to know is how well windows x86 apps work on the Arm snapdragon chips
Stop using Windows and start using Linux. Linux golden age is coming. Too bad Microsoft will go bankrupt soon.
can it game of is this for business only
Is the touch screen function stil avilable in surface laptop 7?
Stop using Windows and start using Linux. Linux golden age is coming. Too bad MicroBloat will go bankrupt.
I wonder how the Pro 11 fares compared to the 11" iPad Pro 2024.
It’s already infinitely better because it can actually run full PC programs, unlike iPad, which has a useless locked down OS. I just returned my iPad 13”. I want a tablet mainly to use a GameCube emulator. Of course, Apple will never allow that. They also downgraded the speakers, rear camera, etc. That doesn’t scream “Pro” to me.
@@indyjones720 Yeah the lockdown sucks, but im thinking of buying one for mom since shes already on an iPhone and has an old iPad 3. If it was for me Id never touch an apple product.
I hope these devices drive Windows on ARM to catch on more.
