I loved the Bourne Legacy and was excited to see someone reacting to it. I was not a fan of the Bourne Trilogy...I read all the books and just could not see Matt Damon in that role and the fact that they reduced Marie, his wife, to a minor role and in only one movie. She had a major role in the books, but was minimized because we can't have the hero be married! But loved Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weiz...and Edward Norton...Paddy Considine player the reporter in the beginning...not well known here but a favorite of mine.
Here's the hypothesis for those that want to believe Oscar is still 'out there' somewhere in the lore. Oscar Isaac removed his transponder already. He had it stowed in his pocket, ready to be tossed if he ever had to run. We all know the Golden Movie Rule '...if you do not see a body....' When he told Aaron 'we need to spread', Aaron went out the front while Isaac left his transponder in the cabin and hightailed it out the back door. Very possible for a Project Outcome agent.

Reviews I read at the time were so-so because they were comparing it to the Damon films. I loved it because it was it's own story and had a great cast with just enough clips from Bourne to establish the timeline. I think Jeremy Renner killed it in this and would have liked to see another Aaron Cross story. I think you should check him out in Wind River. Great reaction and discussion guys.
Hey Sam and Daniel, The scene where Jeremy Renner scales the outside of the house to relocate his position and kill the NSA agent is next level for sure. --------- The ability of these off-book assassins in this series to improvise, plus combined with the physical enhancement make them such lethal weapons.
Cheers for filling a void this Saturday night, your reactions were exactly what I needed.. A pretty damned solid follow up to the trilogy, I liked it enough to wish it had it's own sequels.
If you're looking for comedy, "Tag" is another fun Renner film. I'd also recommend "Wind River" if you're looking for a crime/mystery/modern western movie.
Also, first movie to phone call into another movie - as well as the first movie to take place at the exact same period of time as the last movie installment!
Jeremy Renner portrayed a friend of mine in Kill the Messenger (2014) and did such a great job of capturing his mannerisms that it was kind of strange to watch. Gary Webb, RIP.
Legacy is my favorite second only to Identity. I think the style goes back to the roots of the series. At one time Oscar Isaac was considered for the lead. When they chose Renner, they still liked him enough to want him in the film. As much as I like Jeremy Renner, I think Isaac would have been a good Aaron Cross.
It didn’t do very well at the box office because nobody wanted a Bourne film without Jason Bourne. BUT for those who actually watched it. They found out it is a very good edition to the Bourne series. Underrated imo.
I love the Jason Bourne movies. This movie is good but I don’t think that it is the same without Matt Damon who is Jason Bourne and then I can only be one Jason Bourne and I don’t think that he ever took any medication. I think that this is an updated version of the program. 16:2316:50

@TD-mg6cd “Cinema with Steph” was the first to react to The Bourne Legacy and mentioned that it’s her favorite movie of the Bourne series. I hope you get a chance to check out her channel!
The dynamic between Aaron and Marta nicely mirrors the dynamic between Jason and Marie in the first movie. I think "Supremacy" is great, but in that movie Jason is limited to Pamela Landy as an ally, and only over the phone at that. It's better when the main character has someone to share the adventure with, someone to talk to. And Marta was way more important to Aaron than Marie was (at first) to Jason. I also like the way that information is not spoon-fed to the viewer. The dialogue is very tech-heavy and you need to pay attention to keep up. I've always been amused by Edward Norton's character, he seems to have his own special terminology, and uses it to sound smarter than he would if he spoke like everybody else. "Tune in to what I'm telling you," etc. The Bourne Legacy might be the movie that I've re-watched the most frequently in the series.
Tony Gilroy said, “ Ed Norton’s character is just a complete polymath, with a military background ”. The movie uses scientific terminology which can be hard to grasp. Listening to Gilroy interview gives you a clear perspective.

Hi Daniel & Samantha, I`ve just seen that there is talk of a Jason Bourne 6 but not before 2026, for some reason. I`m glad you enjoyed this film, Jeremy Renner did a great job, IMO. It was good to get more information from behind the scenes of the program, the ripples caused by Jason to their plans.
I agree with you guys, that it would be a lot of fun to revisit this sub-universe of the Bourne world. I noticed at least three potential prequels that they gave us little hints of, llittle tantalizing references to backstories that they could explore more if they decided to. Like, the incident that Marta describes at Fort Detrick back in the 80s. She said there was a lot of cutting edge science involved, and somehow there was a huge explosion involved that (temporarily) stopped the program. They could totally get a prequel out of that! I mean, who was responsible for the explosion?!?!? There are tons of cool possibilities. Also, apparently Aaron had some kind of romantic involvement with the real June Monroe, at some point in the past. Major story potential there. And, the Oscar Isaac character had some kind of romantic story in his past. What was the story there?? See, that's three possible prequels right there. I bet there could be even more. I say, bring 'em all on!!!
Regarding Oscar's character, I always felt that "You felt in love" line was improper and was just wasted real estate. The dialog starts with Aaron admitting he went AWOL and is now being punished. Then he asks Oscar what he did to deserve a stay in that training camp, and infers that Oscar fell in love. But Oscar should have asked Aaron why he went AWOL for 4 days, giving us a chance to extend our understanding of Aaron's motivations. Instead, we got some understanding into motivations of an unnamed character that is killed off a minute later, and we got an unsolved question regarding our main character's behaviour. Why did he go AWOL for 4 days? I'm curious.
Great review guys. I'm always surprised this film is left out when other commenters to reviews of the films with Matt Damen don't seem to like this one. This is a fantastic film As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
If Aaron & Jason met each other, they would've been perfect dynamic duo. Also I recommend Jeremy Renner again in Hansel & Gretel Which Hunters. Another Badass of him to enjoy 😉.
Now would be a great time to watch/react to Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters, because it's officially free on youtube! People could see the full commentary and watch along.
I'm so excited that you're doing this movie reaction! I actually watched this one first and then the Matt Damon ones, so I'm a lot less judgmental of this one than others might be. This was the first movie I ever saw Jeremy Renner in and I've loved him ever since.
I am really impressed with how they integrated ULTIMATUM into LEGACY. That provides continuity. The ending is obviously designed for a sequel. But, Renner's injuries from his Snowcat accident will likely prevent that.😔
they shut down any idea of Renner in another Bourne film when they brought back Damon. "Legacy" was considered a box office disappointment so they paid up to bring Damon back.
I mean...Legacy came out in 2012. If they were gonna do a sequel, they already would have. Don't think there was any hope of that happening after a decade+ regardless of the accident. Would be cool if he cameo'd in a future bourne movie though
I have loved these Bourne reactions. I hope you watch Jason Bourne (2016) also as it actually surprised me how good it was for a fifth installment in a franchise.
So, there's a whole behind the scenes drama with these movies, that I discovered as a fan, and I think is pretty fascinating. It's a whole long thing, and I get the feeling that this comment is going to be largely ignored, but I can give you the long version if you want, but the short version is that Paul Greengrass, the director of the 2nd and 3rd one, and Tony Gilroy, who is basically the writer of the first four, had some feud going on between them. I don't exactly know who's right or wrong, but based on the work, I'm on Tony Gilroy's side. For whatever reason, Matt Damon stuck with Paul Greengrass, but I also think that after the first one, he never really wanted to keep doing them, and his career never really needed him to. Anyways, they couldn't get Matt Damon or Paul Greengrass to do a fourth one, so Tony Gilroy wrote and directed this one without them, which pissed them off, even though they didn't do anything when given the chance, and the next one Paul Greengrass wrote and directed himself, and Matt Damon came back, except now much older, and I'm pretty certain that Paul Greengrass' intention was to destroy everything Tony Gilroy built, and basically start a new thing, but his new take sucked!
I do like the broader world that they show here, and how deep the conspiracy and corruption that is tied into Bourne and Cross, and how they came to be basically "super-soldiers". They've had some real scummy villains in the series but none that seem as cold and "soulless" as Byers (Edward Norton).
For sure. Most of the Bourne movies you are given glimpses into the spy network. -------- This movie gives a top level down look at how deep they operate. I love that aspect of the movie.
Im a huge fan of Jeremy Renner. If yall are looking for a series to watch, he leads "the mayor of Kingstown " on paramount plus. Hes adorable in "Hansel and Gretel: witch hunters"
This is my second-favorite Bourne movie, after only Bourne Identity, and it's a shame it didn't see more commercial success. I think my favorite thing about this one is just how _competent_ both sides were here - it really helps keep the tension up, and it's something that the other sequels in this series kind of let drop off (consider how surprised the CIA staff were in _Supremacy_ and _Ultimatum_ when they learned Jason Bourne was already in New York, and compare that to how easily they caught up with Aaron and Marta when _they_ jumped on an airliner).
Paul Greengrass directed the 2nd and 3rd Bourne movies, and after those successes, Damon said that he would only do another Bourne movie if Greengrass returned to direct (he also said that he thought the character's journey had come to an end, but the "without Greengrass" excuse was mentioned a lot). At the time the studio was asking for a fourth Bourne movie, Greengrass was not interested, so Damon said no. So that's why they went with the spinoff idea with Renner. Legacy was written and directed by Tony Gilroy, who wrote/co-wrote the first 3 Bourne movies, so he was well-versed in the world of Jason Bourne. He had also directed Michael Clayton, which was a big hit and was nominated for a lot of awards, so he seemed a great choice to direct this film. Many years later, Greengrass came up with an idea for another Bourne movie, which became Jason Bourne (the 5th film). And since Greengrass returned, so did Damon. Gilroy was not involved with the 5th film.
I just wanna say thank you to TPR and Samantha for reaction to my comment and I’m sorry in advance if my voice detection screwed up your name but you guys are awesome 3:55
Glad you liked this one, I really like it myself, it's a shame it didn't do a larger box office, you know Hollywood bean counters just interpret that as a lack of interest and a rejection of Aaron Cross, so it knackers any hope of him being the lead in a sequel but it's still a good standalone. There is a 'Treadstone' TV series too, that's a prequel set in 70's. Great poll anyway, I'm no fan of the misuse of the word 'underrated' but there's a few there that definitely are, that did well in the poll, I hope you'll do them also soon. I've been requesting Predators & Alien 3 (Special Edition) for over 3 years now and they looked to come 2nd and 3rd to my bad eyes lol.🤞😊
I love the fact that "The Bourne Legacy" was also shot in the Philippines, along with "Apocalypse Now", "Platooon" and "An Officer and a Gentleman." Although tricky, the climactic chase scene through Manila in "The Bourne Legacy" is one of the most heart-stopping action sequences in film history.💯
If you guys haven't seen Renner in The Hurt Locker, it's an amazing film and performance from him. This film, while not great, isn't bad either. I do wish they could have gotten Damon in for a 10-15 minute crossover. I think it would have tied everything together, given the script a tiny bit of credibility, and left things open for Renner to continue things in a spin-off if Damon really didn't want to continue with Bourne. That being said, since they didn't do that, I kinda wish they had left things at the original 3 films. But, you know Hollywood. Lol
The important word in the title of this movie is " Legacy " although it would be more accurate if they had of used the word " consequences". Even though the story is brilliantly Told, and acted, the best thing is filling in what the program is and what it does to the participants/ Agents , as the Matt Damon movies don't really go into that sort of detail. The other comments suggest " Wind River " if you like more Jeremy Renner to watch, this is a brilliant movie that has you going through all the emotions.

It’s ironic that Jeremy Renner’s character is now a version of Captain America.
This is one of my favourite bourne movies. I really wish they'd bring him back.
I remember the critics hating this one, but I liked it better than any of Matt Damon's entries.
I've watched this numerous times, can't say the same for Matt's Bourne movies, even though they didn't suck. I just like this one more also.

TBR adores violence.
wtf... what are the 100 comments here quoting Schmitt every time, is this a new weird fetish?
Underrated movie. The Origin of Hawkeye. Smh... lol. Cheers.
You should check out Wind River with Jeremy Renner
Wind River and arrival are also great jeremy renner film's
I have loved these Bourne reactions.
I hope you watch Jason Bourne (2016) also as it actually surprised me how good it was for a fifth installment in a franchise.
Great reaction! Please react to another Jeremy Renner movie, Wind River, also starring, Elizabeth Olson. Based on a true story!
Matt Damon is a backstabbing two face !
Not sure if you have watched Wind River, but thats another good Jeremy Renner movie!
"The Eiger Sanction" (1975)
"The November Man" (2014)
"No Way Out" (1987)
"Three Days of the Condor" (1975)
"Charlie Wilson's War" (2007) *True Story*
You forgot the original "Bourne identity" (1988)
Truly, a worthy addition to the Bourne franchise 😊
Yes! The capper is Jason Bourne, guys! Cheezits Crunch!
renner (Hawkeye) and olsen (wanda/scarlet witch) teamed up in a very good film called 'wind river' I think, well worth checking out
This is my second-favorite Bourne movie, after only Bourne Identity, and it's a shame it didn't see more commercial success.
I enjoyed this one in the series.... would have been cool to see Renner and Damon team up in another one. Great reaction fam 😎💯
You guys should react to Gattaca
You guys will like it
Underrated 90s sci fi
Renner was also in Mission Impossible 4 and 5.
Love this movie.
5:31 "Whoa. Rachel Weisz Weisz." -TBR
one of those.
Very very good movie, i really like it, Jeremy got the charisma and acting skills.
I just wanna say thank you to TPR and Samantha for reaction to my comment and I’m sorry in advance if my voice detection screwed up your name but you guys are awesome 3:55
The scene where the doctor is killing everyone in the lab is MK Ultra mind control
Yes a famous military hospital, besthesda, rachel is married to Daniel Craig, bond *
I think this one is underated : it has it's own darkness, it has identity and a great cast.
I notice you didn't see The hurtlocker... you should
Mayor of Kingstown is such a great show with Jeremy Renner. Season 3 has just finished. Very bingable.
powerhouse of the cell!
I absolutely can’t wait until y’all watch Jason Bourne!😅
You "can't not wait"? That means you CAN not wait.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
He did a small budget movie with Minnie Driver, as a death row inmate, that was excellent.
I consider the Bourne Legacy as the "Hawkeye Origin Story" it just fits better that way. ;)
Lol
I really like this one! Renner is a top actor.
